Finally decided to try this place and thought it was just ok. It's a standard poke place right outside of Macy's. Pros: the ingredients seem pretty fresh and the dish together was pretty refreshing. The sauce was also pretty tasty, but after a while, it did become overly sweet (miso sauce). Cons: price is kinda high for the portion you get as there are other places nearby with cheaper prices. The container is way too small and the amount is overfilled so it's really hard to eat. They need bigger containers! I'm not a fan of malls, but I will go to Bellevue Square to grab a Poke bowl from Mix Poke Bar. Tucked outside Macy's next to Cheesecake Factory, you'll find this hidden stand. There's not as many Poke places on the Eastside, but I've been here three times and the quality of the bowls are consistent. You can customize your bowl through a 5 step process. I'd recommend the Brown Rice for a healthier option and I usually get a 2 proteins. The Poke portions are generous. Normally, at other Poke spots, I would need to get 3 proteins to equal Mix Poke Bar's 2 proteins. I'll usually choose the Salmon and Ahi proteins, which are nicely cubed portions. It's nice that the proteins aren't pre-marinated because I like to build my own sauces and mix them from their menu. I would highly recommend mixing the Shoyu and the Creamy Spicy. As for the toppings, I like how it's not so crazy in terms of choices. I prefer quality over quantity and not have to choose between 3 different Krab Salads. Focus on the fish, not the toppings. In addition to Poke Bowls, they sometimes have specials the chefs create as well. The Lunar Dumplings they had during the Lunar New Year were so creative and I've never seen anything like it around Seattle. I hope they have more specials like this throughout the year. Overall, if you're looking for a quick lunch around the Bellevue Square area, I'd recommend grabbing a bowl here versus overpaying for a dish in the many overpriced restaurants. Salmon is my favorite, but they seem to cut really close to where the skin is; I've gotten a bunch of chewy chunks. Came here after our hike out East because we wanted something fresh and light with vegetarian options for our friend. They are located right outside of Macy's and Bellevue Square, so parking is easy to find. The ordering process is also very easy, but can get really busy since it's a small space and there are only two people working (of course that's due to their space limitation as only two people can fit in there). I got the regular combo with two fish- salmon and tuna. I tried the sweet and savory miso sauce, with all of the mix ins. I think some of the stuff like avocado wasn't available. There was a tofu option for our vegetarian friends!! Overall, I would say it's not bad. Not my favorite but not the worst. The bowl is a little smaller compared to other poke places. The edamame I got was not the freshest- I think some were rotten because they had kind of a stinky smell. Cucumbers were super bitter! Other than that, sauce was great, fish appeared fresh. Talk about overpriced poke. For a regular, which is their smallest size and comes with 2 choices of protein, it's $12! In LA, you can get a small for $7-8. The bowl is incredibly small and they fill half of the bowl with rice. We only decided to come here because it was one of the poke places that actually stays open past 9 PM. It's a small kiosk that is located right between the Macy's entrance and Cheesecake Factory. I opted for the regular size bowl with salmon and ahi tuna, brown rice and all of the toppings. After finishing my protein, there was still a layer of rice at the bottom of the bowl. The container is already small as it is.... that's how they really get you...just pile on the rice. For a regular, you only get 2 small scoops of protein so choose wisely. I didn't think their fish was the freshest either. Maybe cause it was the end of the day? Whatever the case may be, I wasn't really a fan of MIX Poke Bar. I'll still be on the hunt for a poke place on the east side of Seattle. read more

I've been coming here since they opened. Not as regularly as before but I still do frequent this place every so often since the location is convenient. Food quality has really gone down hill. Fish does not taste fresh at all. This has been my experience the last several visits. You can even smell the weird odor with all of the sauces mixed in. I eat a TON of sushi and poke and I'm as an adventurous eater as anybody. I don't shy away from raw fish. I'm one of those people who can eat raw uni all day long so raw fish does not scare me. Maybe the fridge is having issues? This has been my experience the last several visits. Also, their portions have decreased by about 30% and the service here has consistently gotten worse. They used to have very friendly staff here. Not anymore. Not even close. I'm guessing management changed or whatever but they just aren't doing things the same way they used to. I've had my eye on this place for a few weeks now and it's definitely a welcome addition to the mall. Located in a small walk-up storefront outside of Macy's (in between Cheesecake Factory and Red Robin), it's basically the equivalent of Chipotle, but for poke bowls. It's extremely fast casual and basically a to-go place with a few tables outside you can eat at. There's two size options (regular for $12, or large for $14). We decided to share the large with choice of 3 proteins, white rice, and a bunch of add-ons (krab salad, ogo, cucumber, masago, wasabi, pickled ginger, green onion, furikake). Beware that seaweed salad and avocado are both $1.50 extra, which seems ridiculous. Pros: Proteins were fresh Overall quality was good Service was friendly Food service area was clean Cons: We chose double tuna and salmon, then realized there was a spicy tuna special they neglected to mention, so we asked to swap out one portion of tuna for spicy tuna. Since he had already added it to the bowl, he had to scoop some out, but ended up taking out way more than half, which was disappointing. I think we were left with about 4 pieces of tuna at the end. To be honest, I didn't like this place the first time I tried it mainly because I was too bold with what I mixed in my bowl (my fault ^^) but still gave it a second try and fell in love with it! In case you get lost finding it, it's located in Bellevue Square outside of Macy's/Cheesecake Factory/Red Robin. You get to choose between a small bowl with two proteins ($12) or a large bowl with three proteins ($14) and customize it however you like! I personally don't recommend mixing the house shoyu with the miso and crispy garlic. The second time I tried it I mixed in tuna, salmon, green onions, sweet onions, masago, edamame, cucumber, furikake, and house shoyu. Once that shoyu marinates... BOMB! They give you so much protein also so you'll definitely get your fill. I wish they add an option to top of your bowl with Japanese mayo, that stuff is life changing. So my gf convinced me to go back to this place and give them another shot since she had heard from the owner that they've made some changes to the signs and prices/portions. So here's my update: Well there was no change. The spicy tuna was still a mystery item that wasn't listed on any menus. The seaweed salad was still $1.50 and so on a so for it. The bowl size and the portions were still skimpy and not nearly enough in comparison to the price. As for the fish itself, it still lacked flavor. Honestly the "idea" of make your own poke bowl sounds nice in theory but doesn't actually work. When you're talking about any kind of protein, (beef, chicken, fish ....) you really need to let it marinate to have flavor. The other thing that was interesting was that I asked for some ginger and wasabi. Unfortunately they put the two in the same cup ( I guess to keep down the cost of an extra little cup) (see picture). I'd dare anyone to eat that piece of ginger without tearing up and having the wasabi burn. So I am going to stick with my 3 star review for now while wondering whether it should drop to 2 and keep searching for a Poke place on the Eastside that won't disappoint (again). read more

Boys gotta eat poke and this is one of the only poke places in Bellevue, but it's at a good location (bell square) and the staff, or at least the one staff person there when I went, was really nice. This place just opened 3 months ago but they've got a pretty big selection of add-ons and meats, their process is straightforward and you can add as much of anything you want. I got the tuna and salmon which are the only fish options right now and they seemed fresh and well prepared. They even mixed it with some seaweed and extras and the sauce before playing it. I should note this place does not have seating, but there is public seating outside (but it's hella cold and they only have one heater and it's mostly for the staff) and it's pretty pricy at $12 for a regular bowl. read more
