I went to Just Poke with my friend for a weekday lunch, and it was a really disappointing experience. Even though there were only a few customers, the wait time was very long -- the staff were moving extremely slowly, and out of the three workers, only one was actually helping customers. To make things worse, one of the male staff members was very rude and disrespectful. The shop sits inside a little food court area with plenty of seating. I generally walk here from my office so can't comment on the parking. I usually go to FOB poke, but they don't have creamy scallops, and I heard that just poke does, so I decided to try it out. The store doesn't give that much protein (it's like two small-ish scoops). I got the regular bowl with 2 protein scoops, and I decided that it'll both be for creamy scallops. Unfortunately as I was eating them, I realized that the creamy scallops were potentially spoiled because of the smell and taste of it. The staff was informed and they offered us a new bowl or a refund. That was nice of them to do, but I wished there was a better protocol they have to ensure that they aren't serving spoiled food. The service was okay. Not much to say on that. The ambiance of the place was okay as well. The store was connected to another store, so it was like a mini plaza. Let's be clear. This place is NOT Hawaiian poke. Get that out of the way first. I've been to other Just Poke locations, and this is my first time in Bellevue. The fish quality isn't always consistent. I prefer choosing the ones that are already marinated and maybe the ahi tuna or the seared tuna if it visually looks good. I find their fish quality to be inconsistent. The good thing is there is always some fresh choices. For regular size bowl, you get two mini scoops. For large size, you get three mini scoops. Just Poke is little in the building where I live and I often go there. I love the food and the service there.

Just Poké is a deceiving name. It's not just poké, it mostly rice and some other extra toppings you can add to "customize" your bowl. I'm a purist at heart, so I like to taste things for what they are (or should be) without all the extra junk. And maybe I'm being harsh, since I just came back from the poké capital of the world (Hawaii), and I was less than impressed. You start off placing your order by choosing size (regular or large), and a base (rice, greens, zucchini noodles, etc). Then you choose your proteins, since I chose regular I had 2 choices which were spicy ahi and creamy scallop - but they were 2 TINY A$$ scoops! Then you choose a mix-ins and sauces, which they literally mix with your proteins?! Huh?! Trust me that's not how it's done in Hawaii. And then you choose your toppings, which has a great selection, but by the time you're done, it's 5% Protein (poké - isn't that part of the name?!) and 95% everything else, which are just fillers. Sadly, this will be my one and only time here. I'm still on the hunt for good poké on the Eastside. read more

I chose spicy ahi and seared ahi as my protein, half brown rice and half salad as my starch and lots of toppings. I was not sure what kind of sauce was good with my choices so I went with house Shoyu that seemed like cant go wrong choice. All together was about $12 and it was so good. No wonder this place is popular. One little thing though, It was very fast when I was ordering. I felt I needed more explanation especially sauces, the toppings and what goes well with my protein. That's why people who sell in Hawaii usually have a bunch of different ones ready to go and you either order by the pound or get it on rice. This whole hipster, made-to-order nonsense does not fit as the fish hasn't had time to mesh with the other flavors yet. At least marinating it ahead would apologize for the frozen texture of the meat. At $11 per half pound ($20 per pound), it's hard to hit the mark with poke, and this place proves that point. This is at a convenient location, downtown bellevue, right underneath the restaurant la bu la. It has free parking in the same building, underground. Even though it is free parking for 2 hours, you have to remember to use the parking machine to print out a paper to put on your dashboard. One time, we forgot, and we got a parking ticket. One thing is the parking is always full and the space is very very small, so I actually scratched my car one time. There are some street parking as well. There used to be a piano (piano in the park program) outside the food court, in the outdoor eating area, under the cover. In the summer, there was a band playing outdoor, which is nice. However, it is gone now. Hope it will come back in spring, when the weather is nicer. The poke ingredients are fresh, but the fish serving can be a bit more. There is usually a line during lunch time, especially now that amazon have moved some of their offices to bellevue downtown. If you like your food blend or less salt, you should ask for a little sauce. As some of the sauces could be heavy. The food court sitting area is open, tall-ceiling, and spacious. However, the tables are not stationed in a way that's welcoming or have good use of the space. Perhaps the entire food court management can improve that in the future. read more

Regular comes with 2 protein and large with 3. The price difference is 2$. Step1: You select a base. I chose sushi rice. One of the interesting options was Zucchini noodles Step2: Add your proteins. I got Spicy Ahi tuna, Salmon and unagi. Step3: Get that fluff ummm... mix-ins. I went for sweet onions, scallions , cilantro, corn and cucumber. Step4: Make it saucy! I had the Thai chili citrus and spicy aioli. Step5: Top it up. Masago, mango and Edamame. Step5.5: Crunch it up. I got crispy onion and togarashi. Step6: If you have the stomach for it, get a side. Over all product was healthy bowl of deliciousness. The quantity was filling and had it not been for that cup of coffee in the afternoon I'd have had a carb crash from all that sushi rice. May be zucchini noodles would have made more sense? Who knows! If I had to do it all over again, I'd still go for the sushi rice though. But that's just me. read more
