    The Cubano Panini
    Samuel A.

Had a really solid Cubano panini from Mixed Greens for lunch. Wasn't expecting much in the way of authenticity for a cubano, but it was surprisingly very good - fresh tasty meats, melted cheese, and mustard, all in the right amounts. Came with a side of chips. Portion size was good for a lunch. Thanks!

I was quite excited about trying this place! 5 stars on Uber Eats coupled with timely delivery to my location definitely piqued my interest. Online ordering was easy and I received a text with a tracking link. I watched in real time as updates were made ... preparing your order, out for delivery with estimated time of arrival, etc. Next, I got continual error messages about the delivery tracker (see photo). I waited outside during the delivery window and then tracked down a phone number for the restaurant. The guy who answered the phone explained that the order was cancelled on their end. When pressed to explain how that could happen without notifying the customer, he finally said the delivery driver picked up the order, but later returned it saying he doesn't deliver there. It's three miles from the restaurant and is listed as an option on Uber Eats. And no, my workplace is not in a sketchy neighborhood. The primary issue is that I did not receive notification from anyone ... UE, the restaurant, nor the delivery company. As a side note, UE's app said delivery comes directly from the restaurant. No third-party was mentioned. I asked for the delivery driver's name so that I could report him. The restaurant employee didn't have access to that information in his system. No idea who is picking up the food when the restaurant tells UE that they deliver directly? Bottom line, no lunch because the restaurant misrepresented their delivery zone and failed to communicate the cancellation in a professional manner. Yes, I received a refund, but I won't give them a second chance to waste my lunch period waiting on a delivery that won't arrive. Thoroughly disappointed.

    Sashimi Sunomono Salad with steak

Ordered the sashimi sumonomo salad with steak add-on via fooda and it was ok. Tuna was just fine and didn't taste especially fresh. The steak was a bit dry. Did not like the inclusion of wasabi peas. Either I haven't had them in a long time and just forgot that they are like eating little pebbles, or the ones they used were not great. The sesame-something vinaigrette was pretty good. Overall a mixed bag for Mixed Greens...

Mixed Greens has got to be one of the most popular River North lunch spots. I go every once in a while for a salad, sandwich or soup on a weekday. The lunch rush tends to be from around 12:30-1:30, but no need to plan around it- they'll have you in and out of there super quickly. The paninis and soups are great, but I always go for a salad! They make 'em pretty hefty, so by the last bite my tummy is satisfied & jumping for joy (which is not always the case with a bowl full of veggies). Most of their menu options pack in proteins and fun toppings like croutons or tortilla strips, and they'll mix the dressing right in for ya. You can also build your own salad to your heart's desire. Take note: there's a bowl of pita bread at the end of the counter, take some to bring your lunch to the next level! The layout makes it kind of hard to read the menu while waiting in line, so I always get overwhelmed when I order. It would be awesome if they could put up a sign with the menu near the line! Other than that, Mixed Greens meets my lunch needs fo-sho!

This place is a pretty safe bet for a quick lunch. Nice that they have wi-fi. I like the many chip options. One time I had a beef and cheddar panini that was tasty as fuck but I had a deathly food coma afterwards. I died and came back to life. Another time I had the salad with guacamole maybe the southwestern one? I forgot the name, but I picked it because I asked what was their most popular suhlad. And I um... you know... maybe the guacamole had been made a while ago and I um... you know... But then another two times I had cobb salad and it was bomb af so I think I will get that again. Pizza is thin and tasty and made quickly, too. Their dough is so good dough

Empty for a reason. I was giving this a try for the first time and it never looks like there's anybody inside. That's because the foods really not great. It also looks like it's been sitting out since the morning- meats, cheeses and everything. I got the goat cheese salad and the goat cheese is like a liquid and scooped into the middle. The salad tasted just OK slightly below average

Absolutely obsessed with this place! I can't believe I've been living in Chicago for almost 3 years and had no idea this was here! Such a great concept for a great price! Have only tried the build-your-own-salad but everything on the menu looks good. I like how they have variety and not it's salads. Just can't beat it! Will be recommending it to everyone. Shout out to Luisa for outstanding customer service and making you feel welcomed.

Was excited to try this place since I love a good salad. I ordered the " Warm Goat Cheese Salad". When I sat down to eat, I went to take a bite of the goat cheese (one big solid piece, not crumbled) and it was ice cold. Hmmm this seems a little strange for a Warm Goat Cheese Salad when the goat cheese is cold? I went back to the counter to tell them assuming the staff member that made mine just forgot to warm it up. I asked the same staff member that made mine (she seemed confused) so so she asked another and they both said it was supposed to be cold. I said "so you're telling me the warm goat cheese salad, is supposed to be cold and there is nothing warm about it?" Their reply "yep that's right, it's cold". I am still so confused by this moment. Either false advertising or their staff needs to be trained how to make the correct salad.

Ordered a mushroom pizza and it was pretty boring. I think I could have made one better myself. It lacked flavor. The bread was plain and the cheese was just stringy but not tasty. The mushrooms were okay but the whole thing was nothing special. It cost $14. I'm sorry but I am from NY and even fast food pizza is cheaper and better than this place. However, I guess I should have learned my lesson...ordering pizza from a place called "Mixed Greens" it's like ordering fish at a steakhouse.

Farm to mouth panini, comes with a bag of chips $8.95 plus tax. This one is a winner.

I'd say the 3.5 average rating for Mixed Greens is pretty spot-on. It's in River North, but a bit away from the bustling area of RN. It's a good enough walk for me from work, so it's nice to have access to a salad/greens place. It's chipotle-style make-your-own salad, and it's got a variety of toppings, dressings, styles. I think the price is what you would expect for the area $7-12, depending on what you order and how much you add to your dish. Portion sizes are big, so that's nice. You can actually get relatively full from just eating greens. People are friendly and the line moves relatively quickly. Downsides are that it's actually underground - you have to walk down at least a half flight of stairs if not more. It's not as brightly lit as you'd like so it doesn't feel as "clean" as some other places might be... Yah, overall it's a decent place. A nice option for the area since there really aren't that many options in the west part of River North!

Reservations: We were visiting Chicago and I was able to snag a reservation a week early but the time slots were either really early (before 4 PM or after 9:30 PM). Thankfully, I was able to turn on notifications for cancellations and got a better time slot, I'd recommend looking earlier than a week out if you want more flexibility Food: The pizza was all build your own style which was pretty nice! We did a small deep dish and it was great and incredibly filling, the small pizza was a lot of food for 2, I will say, but we wanted it to come in the cast iron pan. The blackened crust was incredible. After getting over the fact that I was eating pizza with a fork and knife, I really enjoyed it but I can't say I'd repeat this often for the sake of my health haha. It was a bit too heavy for me to want to have consistently but I'm sure that's part of the experience. I'd love to come back and try the pan style pizzas since those receive a lot of praise and are probably easier to eat more of Ambiance: this place is way bigger than I thought with multiple floors, the interior was great with the brick all around and a game or two always playing

However we arrived earlier than scheduled and we ended up getting settled at our hotel so we walked and went in early. We arrived at 4pm and they let us in - was perfect because it wasn't busy. It's my son's first visit to Chi-town so I think this is a good first meal. We got the Chicago meatballs so we can eat something as the deep dish pizza takes 30 mins. The meatballs are flavorful and filled us up until we get our pizza. We picked the Malnati's Chicago classic - medium. The butter crust is really good and the cheese to meet ratio is balanced. While it is deep dish - it didn't feel like it's super thick, I think the butter crust was the difference. It was quiet when we arrived and we were seated in the dining area by the back in the ground level. There was only 1 group and another couple when we arrived so it wasn't loud. I'm sure when it's peak hours it'll be more festive and busy. Great first meal - order some starters if you're hungry. Medium was quite big for 2 people but good if you want to have some slices to-go.

We ended up doing a walk-in on a Sunday night and showed up at 8 PM one hour before close. This worked out for us because we got a really good seat after only waiting for 20 minutes. Service is good and timely- the hostess was super kind and helpful. We started with some cocktails- a Negroni & a spritz (both were good & pretty strong). Then we split the Caesar salad and a pizza with half sausage/olive and mushroom/onion. Yeah, the pizza did blow me away- the crust is perfectly crunchy and so so thin. I wouldn't even describe it as traditional tavern style pizza because I think it's a really crunchy crust- but it's definitely wayyyyy better than Dimi Dimi (that's the most comparable crust imo). The sauce has a slight spice to it, and the whole pizza just feels very layered in terms of flavorful profile. The sausage was also spicy but very good and I absolutely loved the mushroom and onion duo. Sometimes when you go to a certain pizza places, it doesn't feel worth it, but all the ingredients felt elevated here and the pizza had an elevated taste. The Caesar salad had a nice light dressing and a ton of cheese. I wish that the lettuce had a bit more of a crunch to it, but they seemed to use butter lettuce. The inside feels like a classic Italian joint, but it's very small and simple Overall, so glad that I finally went and although it's not a place that I would go regularly because I live far, I would definitely come back!
