Visited Mixt Food Hall when it first opened and recently returned for the first time in a few years and I was pretty impressed. The space is clean, spacious, and family friendly. It was packed when I went, and the cute toy section for the kiddos was a nice touch. The hall really catches your eye with beautiful artwork throughout, including on the second floor. I tried Big Fish DMV and ordered the Nashville catfish fried to perfection with just the right amount of spice. Definitely worth it . Overall, it's a great spot you can frequent often if you're looking to try different local food vendors in one place.

Came here and ordered takeaway from the Burger Shop. Hubby and I ordered the Portabello Mushroom burger and the Spicy Chicken sandwich, for a total of approximately $30. What's Hot - Quality. Keep in mind, this review is for the Burger Shop only. My portabello mushroom burger was delicious. It had a nice layer of cheese on top and a flavorful sauce, which added to the flavor. When I took bites of my mushroom burger, the cheese was soft and stringy. My husband liked his spicy chicken sandwich, as it was actually spicy. Their fries are fair, but my personal opinion is that they were too crispy and not tender enough. Despite the fries, hubby and I would order food from the Burger Shop again. - Service. When my husband and I arrived to pick up our order, the staffer at the Burger Shop said their tablet for Grub Hub wasn't working. She asked to see my order, which I showed her. She asked me to wait about 10-15 minutes while they prepared my order. Despite this setback, which appeared to be out of their control, everything went well. - Cost. Fairly reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. All the food options here appear to be reasonable. - Food options. Good variety of Latin food, pizza, fish, and burgers. - Interior layout. There are a fair amount of tables and chairs, including bar style seating, and seating upstairs. There appear to be community events that are sometimes held here, as well. Additionally, their interior appears to be fairly well kept and clean. - Location. Fairly easy to find and located around other shops. What's Not - Parking. There is a small parking garage behind the food hall and there is street parking. However, be aware of the times you come, because it's very limited street parking and there are also spaces that are time restricted. - Acoustics. Sound travels very easily inside. For example, while my husband and I were waiting for our order, there was a man inside who made regular very loud grunting noises. The sound of his loud grunts traveled and were amplified, because the interior of the food hall is such that there is nothing to absorb the noise. This also makes it difficult to have any conversation if there are more people inside. It's a huge detractractor for me. Final Answer Willing to come back, but would probably only order takeaway, because of the interior acoustics.

I love this place!! Definitely feeling it! I love the "Mush". I have tried numerous sandwiches and enjoyed them all. Even the greens were tasty. Definitely fell in love with the sliced sweet potato dessert with nuts. I will make it a point to drop by this location at least once a month and enjoy some adult beverages at the bar as well. Nice hangout spot on the weekends. They have plenty of seating available on the lower level as well as the upper level. Enjoy the photography while you're up there. I love Spice Kitchen as well. Never disappointed in the service I receive as well as the good food!

Great market with a few local shops. First of all, the space it is in is so great. There are classes on the top which really makes the culture pop. I tried a tea from the coffee shop, but I was very impressed by the small shop selling sea moss, mushrooms and other unique items.

So we ventured over to try after looking up some good eats on Yelp! I'm glad we tried this place out. The food hall was clean, not busy at all for a Friday night and everyone was pleasant and friendly. Not to mention the playlist was hitting on all the jams tonight! We ordered from the Taco restaurant, La Michoacana and African Spice. We also ordered a few drinks from the bar... My Barria tacos, fries, & Mexican corn were delicious as well as my husband's steak, jollof rice, plantains and spinach efo-riro that he ordered from Spices Kitchen. Everything was flavorful. Next time I'm definitely going with Spice Kitchen!! ;))) I also had a margarita flight from the bar, that consisted of the Prickly Pear, Blackberry and Guava Margaritas...these were all too sweet for my taste buds lol But at least I can cross them off my to try list! My husband enjoyed his old fashion. I'm glad we opted for something new tonight. I must say my first thought was like "a food court" compared to what's inside a mall...hahahaaa! But not even. I was actually impressed from our experience. Thanks Yelp for being on point with this recommendations. & Don't forget to check in while you're here and take advantage of all the discounts they offer :))))) Happy Yelping!

This is a great place for coffee and breakfast. The atmosphere is very comfortable and I appreciate the easily accessible outlets right on the hardwood tables. We were so impressed during a visit this morning when the director, Sandy, informed us they were experiencing a partial power outage that morning but they were maneuvering through the challenges. It didn't impact their operations and the food arrived hot and tasty. The food hall also has Spice Kitchen West African Grill, Lamichoacana Tacos and Mush eateries. The Loft Gallery features displays of local artists and is worth looking at while visiting. My daughter is a regular visitor and has found it to be a great place to meet friends and use for getting work done with her laptop.

Service was good and drinks were great ! Cool place to come and hang with lots of space and seating. Drinks from the bar were absolutely amazing especially the guava margarita and the jalapeño cucumber margarita. Had some wings from the spice African kitchen and some fries from mush both were amazing. Chicken was perfectly seasoned, moist on the inside crunchy on the out. The fries from mush were almost like five guys pretty flavorful. Hope they add on more restaurants to this food hall it can turn out to be a great hang out spot for after hours and weekends.

I came to the burger shop around 5:35pm on a Monday. They promptly took my order and said it would be ready in about 8 minutes and that is exactly what happened. The burger was yummy but I did expect a bit more flavor. The fries were ok and had the right amount of salt. I would come back to give it another shot.

Very solid food and drink options (4.5/5). - Spice Kitchen (5/5) - get the Shrimp plate!! Honestly the Shrimp Suya is not to be missed, the flavors are awesome. Got a side of spinach riro and plantains. - Mush (4.5/5) - vegan banh mi and collard greens were very flavorful. Fried mushrooms were done nicely. Def down to try more items from here - Mixt - got the Tropical breeze (5/5) - this was so refreshing! Passion fruit, pineapple, coconut water and lime, freshly mixed and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Pretty awesome that they also incorporate local art. The relish store was also very cute, they offer many spices, cbd products, and more. Would recommend checking this place out!

Great local, small business shops & eateries!! This one, Relish Market, is by far my favorite.

Love the whole vibe of this place! The Short: Amazing food. Great communal small-business collective, eating outlet and space. Welcoming. Bright and a cool, comfortable vibe. The place is a very cool concept. Many food vendors under one roof. Fresh, eclectic and great food options. They house 4 distinct food options, all fantastic....authentic Mexican, West African, Seafood, Soul Food & Bar Eats. Each is distinctive in their own right and all of them are delicious. Minor Taco is my "go-to" and favorite. There is also a really good health food store and market called Relish Market. A one stop shop for everything from teas, species, local grocery finds, snacks juice bar, incredible hot sauces.....jewelry, soaps, nutritional supplements, to the.....ever-popular sea moss and refrigerated vegetarian sandwiches, wraps and meals to go. I always make it an effort to stop to this place and see what's new. Lately some of the stores have been changing frequently or every so often. The last time I was there, there was a pop up for a bakery & cheese cake store that was to die for. Wish they would become a main staple at this place. . Delicious bite sized tasty cheesecakes.....in many great flavors. In all, it's a great community gathering place for friends, families and children. There is even a play space for the little one to hangout as well. The only improvement needed with this place is the parking. Parking is very limited and hard to find depending on the time of day. Other than this, I highly recommend and we definitely will be back.

    Fries, no whole fries

My second time at this place. My initial visit was to the Relish Market where I purchased some very healthy food items. This time I came back by to visit Mush and then bumped in Spiced Kitchen- West African Grill. I ordered a izzi chicken (fried oyster mushroom sandwich w/Cole slaw) and fries. I was going to get my son something to go. My fries were the end of the bag, so a lot of small pieces. I pibe fries. For real. This time not so much the grease needed to be changed. My sandwich looked gorgeous and I couldn't wait to get it in. While I gobbled my food down, I just noticed the taste of old grease. So while I wanted to fall in love I could not. Again as always, glad I stopped by. Probably won't again. I also had a Berry cocktail. That tasted ver good. Not heavy on the alcohol. Actually I didn't even taste the alcohol. More of a juice. While I was gobbling my food down we waited for my husbands food from the Spice Kitchen. They told us 45 minute wait on Leg quarters. It was def the same amount of time for the Salmon. But my husband was shaking his head the entire time. While he was getting it in, my stomach was hurting. Def try the Spice Kitchen. Salmon, jollof rice, and plantains. Again not sure why we cannot convince some of these vendors to make way to the South Side of the beltway. We like good food on our side and we spend money for good food.

We had a 6:30pm reservation and upon arrival we were promptly seated at lovely window table near the front. The ambiance is great it's spacious with beautiful tables, chairs, and a decent sized wine display. Our first server was great she offered suggestions for wine and the menu and she had a friendly personality. We started with the Era 75 and a glass in the Spanish , red that was on "wine o' clock", we also ordered the shrimp and avocado tostini's and truffle fries. The wine was ok it wasn't as full bodied as I expected it to be but my partner really like the era75. The crostini's were a 10/10 and the truffle fries were a miss as I think they could have been cooked for a few more minutes. The servers switched at some point so we got someone new and I think she was only person there. We both ordered the linguine with the first server but the second came right before our dishes came and we shared we wanted a white to pair with the pasta. She seemed a little less knowledgeable but she made a suggestion that I liked the Alvarinho. The wine didn't come out, I had to stop eating and wait. She came back after about 12-15 minutes to check on us and I shared we still had not received the wine. Another person came to check on us I'm not sure who he was but possibly the owner. The linguine was well prepared although a bit salty for my liking. We were warned about the spice level but it wasn't spicy in my opinion. Overall the dish was good. For dessert my partner ordered cheesecake. The reason I'm giving a 4 is because of the slow service after the servers switched out and because the kitchen became quite smoky a few times and I smelt like smoke when we left. I will definitely return and I'm looking forward to the patio when it gets warmer out.

The menu has shrunk significantly and what's left doesn't justify the price point. $20 for deviled eggs? And nearly everything is paired with grits, which is interesting for a restaurant billing itself as African and Asian fusion. I brought a Nigerian friend along and we were both equally confused by that creative direction. Safe to say grits aren't exactly a staple. We were told about off-menu options tomahawk, ribeye (out of stock), and branzino. We went with the branzino and a potato hash that turned out to be exactly what it sounds like: cut up potatoes and what tasted like powdered eggs straight from a hotel breakfast buffet. The branzino needed salt, pepper AND hot sauce to get there, that's not a seasoning preference.. The ambience and decor remain the highlight genuinely a beautiful space. But a pretty room can only carry so much. I wanted to love this place. I really did. But I don't think a third visit is in the cards.

I started slow with just their grilled oysters. They were drowning in garlic and butter, so it was hard not to like. The Brussel cesar was also a solid shareable. I appreciated that the salad did not come drenched in dressing. The curry friend chicken was phenomenal! The chicken fell of the bone so easily and was so crispy, moist, and overall outstanding. The curry and impossible rice paired perfectly with it. Finally, the desserts! I could have eaten two of the trifle dessert...it was smooth, creamy, and the perfect amount of sweet. It was everyone's favorite between the two. The sorbet was good, but I found the white chocolate a little weird/awkward since it was sitting around a bunch of cold sorbet...didn't melt or mesh well with the dish. Food Highlights We started with the chicken wings in jerk seasoning, and they were a revelation. The seasoning was spot on-bold, authentic, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the main course, I opted for the "Ribeye Steak". It was tender, juicy, seasoned and full of flavor. The sides were on point too. I also added fried shrimp and a loaded baked potato that was cooked just right and the perfect complement to the steak. I also tried the Boom Boom shrimp that was extra crispy just like I like it and tossed in a spicy sauce that had just the right amount of kick! Everything came out hot and at the perfect temperature that I requested. Drinks & Atmosphere The drink menu is impressive, with a vast choice of beers and ales that would satisfy any craft beer enthusiast. The vibe is chill and casual.....table, booth, bar seating with lots of flat panels everywhere to keep you occupied. This layout is big and can easily accommodate large groups, families and makes the perfect meetup spot to catch up with friends over a brew & game. Service I must admit that I was impressed with the service. Our server I believe the name was Charles, was very helpful and accommodating to our large party. He managed to our order as well and had the perfect timing for bringing out our orders. In all, I've had nothing but good experiences at this location. The food is fresh, the portions are huge and the price pint is great. I definitely give this place a thumbs up and recommend the visit!

We started with the bang ban shrimp, which were a good size, portion with a nice crisp batter. If they had an option for a chilli garlic sauce or something with a little more flavor they'd be perfection. The burgers are fine for the quality of food served at the establishment. These are more like upscale frozen patties with a cheap tasting cheese. The fries are similar to Wendy's, but a little thicker. The onion rings are thick cut. It's more so for appetizers for me because of the type of food I try not to consume.
