Mixed sashimi plate (large)
Susan L.

This seems to be my family's new korean sushi spot What I ate: - Mixed sashimi plate (size depends on how many people you have in your party). From what I can remember the sashimi offered was: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, abalone, smelt eggs, uni, korean style hweh. This meal in turn comes with a bunch of dishes - salad, various seafood driving side dishes, mixed sashimi, at least 1 sushi roll, cooked salmon collar, cheese corn, and spicy seafood soup at the end. Honestly, it's so much food that we usually end up taking the soup back home. We try really hard to finish off the sashimi, but we've also taken home a few leftovers of that too (they were super nice in packing it on ice for us.) Pros: - Obviously this meal is a bombardment of food. And in typical korean fashion it ends with a soup and rice. If you like korean style sashimi, this place is great. DO NOT mistake this for japanese style omakase - Staff are on top of it, dropping off dishes in a timely manner. They are helpful and available. I rarely have to use the table bell to get their attention - Everything comes out fairly quickly, considering how much food there is - Price is right, very reasonable for what you get - Plenty of parking Cons: - None that I can think of Would I come again? Yes

3 items combo: sashimi, seafood mixed rice, sushi

The consistency in good quality and taste have not changed over the years but the portion has gotten smaller perhaps due to inflation. Local gem.

We came in for lunch on a week day and were seated right away. The service was good. Ambiance is a semi big, Korean Japanese restaurant. We ordered a family style meal that came with lots of sides, pork katsu, soup, corn cheese, and of course the sushi and sashimi. - Sashimi platter (5/5): Tased fresh, good portion size, good variety. Even has uni! - Rainbow roll (5/5): Also very yummy, fresh, big portion.

Miyako is a Korean-Japanese restaurant with all the standard Japanese restaurant offerings from bento boxes to rolls. We came on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch and were seated quickly since the restaurant wasn't busy. After placing our order, the waitress brought out some banchan. I ordered a Miyako Combo w/ Chef's Choice Sashimi, Chicken Teriyaki, and Mixed Tempura. The combo also came with miso soup and a bowl of rice. The mixed tempura was my favorite part of the combo. The sashimi was 3 pieces of yellowtail and 3 pieces of albacore. The combo was overall okay in flavor but great in terms of quantity.

Hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in La Habra! The fish is incredibly fresh, the rolls are perfectly balanced, and everything is plated beautifully. The restaurant is spotless, which makes the whole experience even better. Service is top-notch--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, the specialty rolls had just the right amount of creativity without being over the top, and even the rice was seasoned perfectly. It's rare to find a sushi spot that nails every detail, but this one does. Clean, fresh, tasty, and friendly--this is my new go-to sushi spot!

Service is great. Always helpful and attentive Food is fresh and delicious Ambiance is chill. Always playing golf on the screens and plenty of people in the restaurant so it's lively

The restaurant has a great feel and the food is also great. It was my first time there, but the servers were great, which made for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience.

The best Korean style sushi course meal in the LA and OC area hands-down! They are super generous with their portions and you never leave hungry! In fact, you bring home so much food that you think about this restaurant again the day after lol. It's a very clean and tidy restaurant, perfect for honestly any type of meeting!

They did it again! Another A+ 5 star meal in the books. We had the Miyako, Dynamite, Shogun, Salmon Skin, Dragon and about 10 other rolls along with the jalapeño poppers, tempura and teriyaki chicken. Amazing!

Went to Miyako and had the best eating experience in my life! We ordered 5 appetizers and 12 rolls for a group of 7. The creative drive of their sushi chefs is unmatched with the salmon skin roll. Miso soup for starters will coat your stomach and have it ready to launch an assault on whatever sushi you order. We had the dynamite roll, the Philly crunch, the dragon, the tiger, the baked scallop roll, and many more! Very well priced, incredible hospitality! Attentive waitresses. We left... Bellies on full!

Sashimi was very delicious and fresh and fish soup was good too. Parking lot availability was good and waitress was prompt and kind . There is a con and that was the side dish was not that goo d flavor. The rolls in the shrimp was very cold . Grilled fish taste was not that fresh . Side dish portion was much less than other places. The interior wasn't that clean and not spacious. Although the fish was very fresh so I will give 4 star Overall it was good except side dishes.

Had dinner reservations at Miyako for Mother's Day this year. We frequent here for their sashimi combos, which includes a variety of seafood, tempura, grilled fish, cheese corn, and spicy soup with scorched rice at the end. For the 3 of us, 1 order of small sashimi combo + 1 roll was more than plenty of food and we had leftovers. My favorite roll is the Miyako Roll: shrimp tempura + salmon + avocado + cucumber + crabmeat on the inside, and topped with eel and avocado. The rolls are THICK and almost too big to take in one bite! The service is one of the fastest I've seen and the food comes out instantly without compromising the freshness and quality. Parking is free and abundant in the plaza.

Do they have and Happy Hours, regular deals, or specials? Is there a dress code? Do they accept reservations?

What does the large mixed sashimi platter come with? Does it come with all the fixings , such as the roe bap, stew , sides or just the sashimi itself?

I only enjoyed the seaweed soup, and unfortunately that was from the bar. Service was great and its small and cozy inside. I only wish the food didn't make me throw up and frequent my trips to the bathroom.

Another person at our table got the donkatsu w/ rice; it was gobbled up pretty quick so I imagine it was delicious. The other 2 were in the mood for tonkatsu ramen - 1 got spicy, the other, plain. It looked like there was a lot of green onions for my taste, but they didn't complain. Another hit was the karagge chicken and gyoza - both came w/ tasty sauces! Highly recommend stopping by the next time you're in the area.

I heard that the owner makes everything in-house, and you can really tell how much care and skill go into the food. The staff are also incredibly kind and welcoming every time I visit. Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) - This is honestly the best galbitang I've had in both OC and LA. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the beef is always fresh and tender. Whenever I'm craving galbitang in the OC/LA area, this is the only place I go. Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup) - The amount of ingredients they give you is amazing. I've had it both dining in and as takeout, and it's consistently delicious every single time. It's perfectly seasoned, and has just the right level of spice. As much as I love the galbitang, I think I actually enjoy the yukgaejang even more. Pork Cutlet (Donkatsu) - This place is known for its galbitang and seolleongtang, so I wasn't expecting much from the donkatsu... but why is it this good? The cabbage salad dressing that comes on the side is seriously addictive. The portion size is huge, there's no way I could finish it by myself. It has the crispy texture of Japanese katsu, while still having a great pork flavor of its own. I honestly think this could be considered one of their signature dishes. The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.

This time we ordered two bulgogi hot stone bibimbaps to-go, which are about $30 each. I specifically asked him if we can do hot stone to-go and he said yes. Well, when we received our order, the rice was not at all crispy and did not appear to be cooked in the hot stone at all. Also, just fyi Its purple rice and not white. (Which is supposed to be better for you but I don't know for sure) They also did not include any sauces like gochijan to go with it or any side banchans like kimchi. Nothing was included, Just two bowls of bibimbap in the bag! The bulgogi they added on it was very sparse in one bowl. The hot stone bulgogi is definitely not worth the added cost. The meet was grizzly and I literally had to spit out each piece after chewing because it was too tough. My dog benefitte I called them to ask about the sauce and he sounded confused and asked if we could come back for some. So we drove 10 minutes back and also asked about cooking the rice on the stone pot because it didn't appear to be like that. He just said they normally do it and that's how it comes. We got our hot sauce and banchan and left. They seemed overwhelmed there. We've never had any issues with this place before so maybe it's under new mgmt? Don't think we will be back.
