It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I went with my family. They serve a fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisines. For example, we received Korean side dishes while waiting for our food. There was also a call button at our table, similar to what you'd see in Korean barbecue restaurants. The ambience was relaxed with radio pop music playing in the background. We ordered the chicken teriyaki ($22.99) and pork cutlet ($21.99) as main entrees. These dishes also come with mixed tempura even though the menu doesn't say so. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry. This seems to be my family's new korean sushi spot What I ate: - Mixed sashimi plate (size depends on how many people you have in your party). From what I can remember the sashimi offered was: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, abalone, smelt eggs, uni, korean style hweh. This meal in turn comes with a bunch of dishes - salad, various seafood driving side dishes, mixed sashimi, at least 1 sushi roll, cooked salmon collar, cheese corn, and spicy seafood soup at the end. Honestly, it's so much food that we usually end up taking the soup back home. We try really hard to finish off the sashimi, but we've also taken home a few leftovers of that too (they were super nice in packing it on ice for us.) We frequent here for their sashimi combos, which includes a variety of seafood, tempura, grilled fish, cheese corn, and spicy soup with scorched rice at the end. For the 3 of us, 1 order of small sashimi combo + 1 roll was more than plenty of food and we had leftovers. My favorite roll is the Miyako Roll: shrimp tempura + salmon + avocado + cucumber + crabmeat on the inside, and topped with eel and avocado. **This review is for my visit in September 2021** I came here for a family dinner with a prior reservation. It's a Korean sushi + sashimi establishment and all the workers speak Korean. We ordered the Family Combo which comes with a sashimi platter, sushi (nigiri) platter, our choice of roll, and a hot menu item. We went with the crunch roll and katsu for those items. I loved the variety of side dishes that came out - there was a bunch of Korean side dishes you can find at a Korean restaurant, but also raw squid with chojang and some type of cooked seafood (I wasn't too sure what this was but it was good). The sashimi platter came out first and it was filled with lots of fresh seafood. I love how thick and big the pieces were and they really didn't skimp out on the variety too. There were about 3 different cuts of tuna, salmon, uni, abalone, and so much more. I love that they give you a variety of dipping sauces too such as soy sauce & wasabi, chojang (the sweet & spicy Korean sauce), and sesame oil with seaweed so you can wrap your own little sushi bite. The sushi was good with not too much rice and the crunch roll was just average. Their katsu and tempera were fried very nicely with a good amount of breading for that crunch. Like in typical Korean sushi establishments, you end the meal with maeuntang (spicy fish stew) and that's always the perfect ending to wash everything down. I also accidentally cut myself on the sharp metal part on their menu and the waitress was kind enough to give me a few bandaids and also ended up giving us some grilled salmon on the house! The sashimi here is always fresh and delicious. We got the large mixed sashimi set for 5 people and we couldn't finish it. Luckily they packed it up for us and even included ice to make sure it stayed cold. The service is quick and attentive, they have buttons in the table to call for service and they were very prompt. The restaurant itself is very clean and the noise level ranges from medium to medium+, it depends on when you go. I didn't take pics of everything as we were all enjoying ourselves so I forgot. I always get the sashimi combo and I personally like the assortments here better than other places. The cuts are very thick and huge which may not be preferred for some people since it can be too fishy and fatty. The toro cut is my favorite, just melts away and they are generous with it. Price isn't cheap and has been increasing lately, it is $300+ for a large. However, this feeds 6 people in addition with other good quality side dishes. Other places usually serve side dishes that are usually frozen food heated up to make the combo set look fulfilling, but Miyako serves with quality. read more

To me there are various 'types' of sushi. There is Japanese sushi where you get an authentic omakase and they charge you a lot for a piece fish. There is American sushi where it's mostly rolls and they put all sorts of sauce. And there is Korean style sushi where they just give you a lot of food with pretty tasty fish. This place for a Korean Sushi joint is a solid 4 star. They give you a lot of different food from side dishes, soups, grilled fish, cheese corn, and a plate of sashimi. The fish itself taste pretty good but what is nice is that they give you a hefty portion. Service here is pretty standard and it gets pretty busy in the evening. There was some entertainment provided with 2 old Korean guys yelling at each other after too many drinks. Needless to say the show ended because the beer ran out...or that is what it appeared. We always order the lunch special which also comes with unlimited side dishes and miso soup. Our favorite lunch special is their assorted fish egg rice bowl. It comes with over four different types of colorful fish eggs topped with grilled unagi. The sauce that's mixed in with the rice is tasty too. It's like a mixture of unagi sauce and sesame oil. Highly recommend ordering this one and it costs $12. We ask share the mackerel which happens to be on the lunch special as well. I've tried their 3 item combo in the past and it's nothing special. I'm not a fan of their lunchbox specials that comes with assorted rolls and teriyaki choices. The udon is just plain and boring and the soba is just instant soba. How come I don't have a review for this place! Just had another yummy meal. I loooove their lunch specials. Lunch prices go till a whopping 3PM!! They have so many choices for bento boxes and everything is super tasty. On top of what you order they give side dishes or banchan and a huge salad to share. Their banchan has gone a little down in variety in the past year or so but I didn't dock them a star. They used to have really awesome side dishes but now they are just typical. But they are good about giving everyone a Miso soup and the flavor has gotten better over time. I've never gone for dinner but I've gone maybe thirty times for lunch and I always leave with a happy belly. Service is friendly and the food comes pretty quickly. They usually don't come by again much after dropping your food so if you are waiting for them to offer you the check good luck getting home any time soon. Outdoor seating is available based on your preference. Our server was attentive and friendly. She showed up at our table within a minute each time we pressed the service button. They start your meal off with miso soup, edamame, and some Korean side dishes. For ordering, you mark your choices off the menu sheet. We went a little overboard with our selection. We ordered the Clam Dynamite, California Rolls, Salmon Rolls, Calamari Tempura Roll, and Chicken Terriyaki. The rolls were decent. They used too much sushi rice though. After hearing from their rave reviews, I went there with a friend for lunch. Looking at their menu and their prices, the lunch specials, though a bit pricey, I tried to check their 1 main + 1 side deal. I had their teriyaki chicken and California rolls. My friend had their grilled pike and sushi (nigiri). Now, I noticed that their chirashi bowls were $40 for lunch, while $45 for dinner. I did not want to try their chirashi bowls. I wanted to try their other menu items and then try their $40 chirashi bowls later, IF their other food is good (death flag?) Rice. Ahhh rice. Staple for over 3 BILLION persons in the world. Everyone as heard of it. Nothing like a good bowl of fluffy, steamy, moist rice. And repurposed as fried rice, using left over rice, veggies, meat, egg, garlic, etc etc. We all love a good either steam rice or a good fried rice. But we haven't heard anyone enjoying cold rice. Once rice is cold, usually placed in the fridge, we would heat it up with a microwave or make it out of fried rice. Especially, people goes to a restaurant, and we would have warm or steaming rice. When I got the lunch special, the California rolls were made from cold, hard rice. Why, for the love of god, would people make cold hard rice into their rolls?? It was so hard, I took off the cold hard rice and just had the inside. My friend had their nigiri. The cuts of fish were good but again, the rice was cold and hard. NIRIGI IS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE WITH SUSHI RICE, WARM TEMPERATURE!!! It was also regular rice, not sushi rice. The side of rice that came with the lunch special was steamed rice. Came to celebrate my boyfriend's sister's birthday. As a sushi lover, her father knew this was the place to go. We ordered the Mixed Sashimi Large and was surprised by the amount of food we got. First we started with drinks: some hot sake and beers for the table. Complimentary hot tea was served for the non alcoholic drinkers. Then came the ban chan. For a table of size they gave us two sets of each. First came squid two ways. One dish had the raw thinly sliced squid with some with a drizzle of gochujang (Korean chili paste) while the other had cooked squid. Personally I liked the flavor of the cooked squid better. Next we got seaweed salad, edamame, blanched shrimp, sea pineapple and dry seaweed & sesame oil for later. It was my first time trying to sea pineapple and it tasted like the sea. It's an acquired taste. We also had miso soup (no tofu or seaweed in case you were wondering). Then the glorious platter of sashimi was placed on our over crowded table. There was Tuna, Salmon, Abalone, Toro (fatty tuna), red snapper, yellowtail, uni, and some other fish I can't identify. It was plenty for us to share. The dipping sauces provided were soy sauce, doenjang (soybean paste), & gochujang. You can use the dry seaweed and sesame oil as well. I was told different fishes went well with different sauces but you should just try out what works best for your taste. And if you thought that was it...more food came. Cheesy corn, sweet potato & pumpkin tempura, grilled mackerel, spicy squid...they had to add another table to handle the sheer amount of food on our table. Then came the last part of the set: burnt rice soup alongside Spicy fish soup. For the price, this is a lot of food. Everyone got to have plenty. On top of that, we got two complimentary items: baked salmon roll and an extra serving of sashimi. I don't know what type of fish but half of it was super fatty while the other half was more lean. Since it didn't and she mentioned that the small platter wasn't enough, I ordered that too! I also ordered 3 spicy tuna hand rolls. Abalone porridge was horrible and the worst I've ever had! Usually it comes with the meal, but instead we had to pay for this junk. We didn't even eat it or take it with us. I can't believe we had to pay for this, cause it wasn't cheap! I wish they would have taken it back, but that's how Korean restaurants are. The spicy tuna was bad! Again the worst spicy tuna ever! The fish was not fresh and the flavor was bland and just spicy!
