This is honestly one of the best meals I've had recently. We ordered the jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), perilla seed noodles, kimchi sujebi, and dumplings -- and every single dish was delicious. My daughter and I especially loved the perilla seed noodles. The broth was rich and nutty, and it's the kind of flavor that keeps coming back to you later. My son finished the entire bowl of jjolmyeon by himself, and my wife really enjoyed the kimchi sujebi. For reference, I'm not usually a big fan of kalguksu or hand-pulled noodle soups. One of my favorite spots to get their Korean pulled dough soup (soojebee)! Growing up, that was my favorite childhood dish. I was never able to find a restaurant that made it spicy and the spice hits the spot. It's kimchi broth with a nice throat hitting spice. The kimchi pulled dough soup is definitely my favorite but they also have an option where they can combine it with the noodle soup (kalgooksoo)!! My two favorite Korean soups combined into one?! Say less. They have really good cold noodle option as well! It's a pretty small restaurant with only a few tables and the service is alright. Every time I went, I noticed it was just one server. I've visited several times and the food has always been great, but unfortunately, this visit was disappointing due to the service. I asked our server for a high chair for my son, and instead of responding, she made a strange face and said nothing. After waiting for a while, I had to call her over again to place our order and repeated the request. She barely acknowledged me and still didn't bring a high chair. I even saw her talking to another server and it seemed like she was complaining about my request, which made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. Eventually, I had to get a high chair myself--which I would have gladly done right away if I had simply been told. I don't understand why such a simple and common request was ignored and treated so dismissively. However, I ended up order the ago jjim (monkfish with bean sprouts) not too many places can prepare this dish well. It reminded me of my grandmother's food which was very comforting. One of my favorite noodle places! It's a small hole in the wall in the 76 gas station plaza. Love their makguksoo (cold noods), soojebi, and kalguksoo. All the noods are delicious. Be sure to order a side of their fried mandu, so crispy and chewy. All dishes come with a side of kimchi and kakdugi (radish). Our family went there just to enjoy some cold noodles and kalguksu--nothing complicated, right? I politely asked if they could leave the cucumber out of the cold noodles, and the waitress--clearly overwhelmed by the concept of basic customer service--goes, "I'm not sure, we're busy." Excuse me? No cucumber is now depending on the kitchen's mood? Then we sat there... waiting. Thirty. Whole. Minutes. Because, you know, apparently being "busy" is a universal excuse for everything falling apart. And while we're still waiting, the table next to us--who came after us, by the way--gets their noodles. I ask about ours, and the waitress looks at me like she's never seen a customer before and asks what we ordered. I say cold noodles and kalguksu, and she goes, "Oh, yours will take longer since you ordered kalguksu." Ah, of course. How silly of me not to realize I committed the grave sin of ordering soup. Ten more minutes later, another waitress, the one who actually took our order, casually strolls up and says, "Sorry, we didn't put your order in." Just forgot! Oopsie! But it's okay, because--surprise--they were "busy." We got up and left. Never coming back. Ever. This is an updated review based on recent visits.... Their dumplings are still good.... steamed or soup! They still seem to be short-staffed, and service can still improve. However, the food is good. I tried their makgooksoo, maemil kalgooksoo, kimchi kaljaebi, and the regular kaljaebi and they are all very good. I will definitely be back... Terrible customer service. I asked for a high chair and the waitress just said okay and didn't do anything. It looked like they were understaffed, so I got the chair myself from the back, which is no problem at all. However, what really upset me was that after taking a long time to bring our menu, she brought the wrong order and didn't even apologize. When I told her the order came out wrong, she just said that's what I ordered. I specifically wanted the noodles (kalgooksoo) with dumplings because I was going to share it with my toddler, but she looked at me as if I was at fault and asked, "what do you want me to do?" Umm... what? So anyways, the cook was yelling in the back to bring back the food. We ended up waiting while my mom finished her dish. When it finally came out, I can tell they just reused the dumplings that were in the first bowl because they were soggy and were falling apart when I scooped them onto a plate. The waitress never apologized for her mistake, my mom had to wait since the food came out at different times, and I got soggy dumplings. Who knows what they did with the soojaebi that was in my other bowl, it might've been just dumped into another customer's. (By the way, the waitress asked if I ate some already and I said no, but I did put my used chopsticks in them.) Service is not great. There was one server on a Sunday for the whole restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. When we walked in she was in the back so awkwardly just stood there for a few minutes. Entire time she never checked on us or offered water refill. Food is mid. Very mid if such a thing exists. I've been going to Yoo's kitchen for a long time and I would say almost every menu item at this restaurant is available or there and much better tasting for same price and better service. The soup was pretty good especially for aged group who prefer not too strong taste and spicy makgooksu was good as well if you add some vinegar. Most of all flat dumpling was the best. After working late, my boyfriend and I were so tired so we craved something icy and cool. We started yelping and this place grabbed our attention. Since it is super close to where I live, that's the first thing I liked and secondly, the service was very good. We ordered 'Makgooksoo' with both cold soup and spicy sauce. I got the one with cold soup and as far as I remember, I think I drained all the soups because it was THAT good! It was icy and so flavorful, I couldn't stop drinking. Also, I didn't try the one with spicy sauce but my boyfriend didn't complain and finished the whole bowl, so I guess it tasted excellent! Overall, this was such a satisfying dinner and I think I will be regularly visiting and order Makgooksoo until this summer is over. read more
