Place is so good !!!! Cash only from what I remember but the flavors are order head of time for pickup and make sure you look through their menu and pictures so you know what you are getting from the get go.

10/10 Very comparable to this spot I had in Korea that I'll never forget Food was great, service was good, the inside of restaurant is cozy, definitely can eat there by yourself or with some friends.

Homey, super down to earth, but everything you'd want in a bowl of 설렁탕. I will say that when I went, it got busy, but due to the lack of workers, I had difficulty getting water refilled. I will say, though, the food was really good and was nostalgic!

I can tell Jang Mo Jip has been feeding the community for decades. Interior is typical of a homey Korean restaurant with a small menu. I came with my wife since she had fond memories of coming here. Service was great, the waitresses made sure to keep our banchan full. As for the stews, they were average to me but it does the job. Nothing spectacular but also nothing wrong. It's not as good as Han Yang but I don't mind coming back. 3.5 stars for me rounded to 4 to help small businesses.

I have been going to this place since I was a child, and it's still so good. The food is comfort food for sure and the kimchi is fresh and delishes. The service was friendly and attentive.

Jang Mo Jib (장모집), which translates to "the house of the mother-in-law," has consistently exceeded my expectations. Their Kimchi and 깍두기 (radish kimchi) are consistently fresh and delicious. In Korea, there's a saying that the quality of Kimchi determines the overall quality of the food, and I've always enjoyed the consistently delicious taste of Kimchi prepared by Jang Mo Jib. On this visit, I opted for the ox knee and tendon soup (도가니탕) for health reasons, while my sister ordered the chicken noodle soup (닭칼국수) along with a dumpling plate (만두 접시). The portion of the chicken noodle soup was incredibly generous, and we couldn't finish it all, so we had leftovers to enjoy later. The meal was satisfyingly filling.

I've been going to this place for over ten years. They are consistently great and it's one of the best beef bone soups around this area (not counting ktown of course). If you're new to this place, try their Seolleongtang (ox bone soup). The soup comes unseasoned so you can add the salt and spring onions to your taste. I love this because I don't like to see too salty. The chicken ginseng soup is great when you're feeling like you're under the weather or hungover. And the Bosam platter is SO good but you definitely need a few people to share with. I read some reviews that this is not great for English speakers. I would argue the case, they have an English menu be the waitress speaks good enough English to recommend what to eat.

Menu - Prices increased. New prices range from $14(+) -$30

Are the servers nice? NO! Is the price decent? NO! Here's my reasoning: I used to bring my grandfather here because he loved their soup. If I didn't bring him I would buy the galbi tang and take it to him. And back then the service was amazing, the ajummas were so nice and would get you extra servings of banchan and brisket sauce but sadly throughout the years they've become very stingy and just plain out rude. I understand the cost of inflation and it's very real but I used to get their galbi tang for less than $10. At this rate it's costing me $27 for a bowl of soup and no extra gimme with not even a smile. Will I still be back? Yes but not like before. With the competition out here there are other places to go but I do keep coming back. Oh what's a girl to do. Will I recommend this place? That's a hard NO.

The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.

We had the sirloin steak and the bone-in rib eye. They were both great. The server did a great job of cooking the meat perfectly. The steaks had a great sear and then he cut up the pieces nicely just as they got to about rare temperature. I like my meat medium rare, so I just waited another minute or so and it was perfect. My wife and I both thought the kimchi was fantastic -- and, other than the quality of the meat, the quantity of the kimchi is really let. We also ordered the egg stew and kimchi stew. They both had great flavor. The only thing missing was lettuce and rice cake wraps. The provide salad. But I'd much rather have just fresh lettuce. But since I moved out of LA, it's so inconvenient to get to. Enter Kyung Bok Kung -- what a find. I can get a fine dining korean bbq experience conveniently. I've been here a number of times, and this review reflects the few times I've been there. It's become the goto spot to take people from out of town who are visiting and want a Kbbq experience. Things I immediately noticed - lots of white and grey teslas in the parking lot during lunch - you know what that means? Golf Koreans. Yup. Go inside and you'll see incredibly well dressed older retired people with their buddies chatting up in private cubicles. Beautiful decor. It's like the background setting of a korean drama where there's a close-up of the guy and the girl - they're about to say something really serious to each other. The camera does a wide angle shot of them - and this is the restaurant it's shot in. Price points - this place isn't cheap, but they have incredibly good deals on a weekday lunch (cold noodles and meat set). Their dinner set course meals are priced around what you would expect from a quality steak house. This place is not as pricey as AB steak or Cote, but you're getting just as quality. Food - I've had the lunch set meals, the bbq grilled course, and ordered à la carte. One thing is for sure - they don't miss. I never had a 9 budda plate until I came here, but apparently it's like a thing that royals ate during the monarchy days. It was like a korean vegetarian taco. Very intricate (and slightly annoying) to put together but delicious - and a great test of your chopstick skills. Their braised beef (galbijjim) from their lunch set intersects savory, sweet, and tenderness in a way that only Korean grandmas do. I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu beef (just too rich and can never feel after eating it), but I have never felt that way coming out of here. Go here at night if you want to impress someone or celebrate something. Go here during lunch if you want a fantastic meal and want to see what the best korean food can taste like but don't want to break the bank.
