When my girl's car started to stall, her Rav-4 needed immediate attention. From word of mouth, she heard about Mizuki's. Brother Earl was the first person to speak with her. He was friendly, responsive, and honest about his prognosis, only needing a few hours to check the car. He was able to find the problem and so replaced her brakes and rotors, all in three hours. When I picked up the car, Earl was there to shake my hand and send me on my way. This place is small but mighty!

He changed my oil, no problem, and didn't charge for labor. Also topped off the fluids and checked the tire pressure.

I called around before going, and everywhere else was quoting me anywhere from $60 to $80+. Carlos knows exactly what he's doing, which is why this place constantly has 5-star reviews. Super proactive, super professional, and they even cleaned my windshield while I was there. Seriously, don't waste your time chasing coupons or dealing with nonsense shops. They said incorrect sizes on the front and suggested I go back to Jiffy Lube to have them replace it. The mechanic is a rude, arrogant, stubborn human who is not knowledgeable in his trade. He refused to compare the specs of the parts that were originally installed by Jiffy Lube with OEM spec of the vehicle. He instead insisted it was that my brakes need bled. He "bled" the brakes and came out worse than when I brought it in. Taking my car to the dealership now after wasting my morning. Again, DO NOT LET THIS MECHANIC TOUCH YOUR VEHICLE. UPDATE: SUBARU CONFIRMED THAT THE INCORRECT SIZES WERE INSTALLED. The Jiffy Lube mechanic lied and said he checked that sizes were correct the last time we were in. This negligence could have caused irreparable damage to my vehicle and potentially is life threatening in the event of failure. I warn all that go in here. Please be cautious of who you go to for vehicle repairs and maintenance. Recommend getting critical work done only from a reputable mechanic or dealership.

I drove over, dropped off the car at 11am, spoke with Carlos who shared the process clearly and what will be done. I signed papers and went on my way. He couldn't share how long it'll take due to the Toyota financing paperwork. I get a text around 3pm saying my car is ready and I show up, pick up my car, and chat a little bit about what was done. Amazing service. They put the spare tire and jack back under the car and replaced the tire, adjusted the monitors, and polished up the wheel. Day of service, clear communication, and great patience. I had a terrible experience here, and it wasn't the first with the chain…read more I brought my car in for a full synthetic oil change that was supposed to include a tire rotation and inspection. Because I've had sketchy experiences with them before, I marked one of my tires beforehand so I'd know for sure whether they actually rotated them. They told me it would take about two hours and that they would call me when it was done. After 2 1/2 hours, I called and asked for a progress report. The employee said, "Oh, it's done. I just haven't gotten to call you yet." A little annoying, but ultimately not the end of the world. I understand places get busy. When I arrived, though, I checked for the marked tire before going inside, and sure enough, it was still in the exact same spot. One of my previous sketchy experiences with this company was when they told me they couldn't safely rotate my tires because the wear pattern would make it unsafe. The tires were not very old, and I had never heard of that before, so I took my car to a different shop and they rotated them without any issue or question of safety. I went inside and said something along the lines of, "Let me guess -- you guys decided you couldn't rotate the tires because I need new ones?" The employee said, "No, he rotated them." "Actually, he didn't. I marked the tire, and they were definitely not rotated." "Well, there's no note about the tires, so I'm not sure why they didn't do it." Then he kind of just paused like maybe I'd let it go. I didn't. I instead just stood there waiting for him to give anything resembling an appropriate response. Eventually, with total apathy and annoyance in his voice and demeanor, he went to look at the car and then gave me some similar reason as last time about why they "probably didn't rotate them due to the wear pattern and safety." Then I asked about the inspection, and specifically the air filter, which I knew needed to be replaced. I expected them to catch it and offer it as an additional paid service. Instead, he told me, "Nope. Everything looked good. No notes." At that point, I started getting heated and raised my voice slightly: "There's no way that can be true." Then the manager came over, heard the situation, and casually said something like, "The mechanic probably just didn't do the inspection." Again, no apology or real acknowledgment that this was a problem. Instead, he just said, "We'll do it within the hour." So now I'm being told to wait another hour so they can actually do the job they were supposed to do an hour ago at that point. I asked the manager to inspect the tires first and make sure they were actually going to be willing to rotate them. He just said, "Oh, we'll rotate them," and did not look at them at all. This leaves two possibilities: Either the original explanation was nonsense and this proves they are running a scam, or they were now willing to do something they supposedly thought was unsafe. After waiting again, they finally rotated the tires. I checked the marking and it was gone, so at least that part finally got done. Then I asked again about the air filter, and was once again told it was fine. I said, "The filter behind the glove compartment?" "Yep. The inspection showed no problems." I said there was no way that was true and asked whether they had actually looked at the car at all. The employee responded with, "Well, if you don't trust us..." and then said something like, "Why don't you go look at it and tell me whether it's dirty then?" I'm not a mechanic, but I was so frustrated that I looked up how to check it on YouTube, pulled it out myself, and it was filthy -- covered in literal leaves and debris. I brought it back inside and asked, "Does this look clean to you?" Instead of apologizing, I got attitude and eye-rolling. The closest thing I got to accountability from management was, "I'll talk to my guys later." That's it. At this point, I genuinely don't know what services were or weren't actually performed on my car. I paid for a full synthetic oil change, tire rotation, and inspection, and had to personally catch the fact that at least two of those things apparently weren't done. I wish I knew how to tell whether the correct oil was used, because I wouldn't put it past them to swap it out for something cheaper. I normally try to give businesses grace, but this experience crossed the line from disorganized into actively dishonest and rude. Don't go here. But if you do -- mark your tires.

They have been the exclusive service for our Mazda since we purchased it about 5 years ago. That is an important detail here. No other service people have touched the car. Nonetheless, at our last service, we were told that somehow our brake fluid had been topped off with a mystery liquid, which now put the whole brake system at risk of impending (although with unknown timing) catastrophic failure. The only solution was for us to spend over $3000 to have everything overhauled and replaced. In our analysis, the only individual who could have been responsible for the offending mystery fluid (if that's really what happened), is someone from Oceanworks. We certainly never go in there ourselves to add any fluids and the car has never been touched by anyone else. Oceanworks was not willing to take care of the work for free. Luckily we had a warrantee that covered a portion of it, which they completed for us. We then took the car to another mechanic we'd used when we lived outside of Oakland, and he disagreed that the full overhaul was needed and deemed the car safe to drive. Obviously there are a bunch of mysterious unknowns here, but we are left with the bad feeling that Oceanworks was either pulling a fast one on us and/or was incompetent and then trying to cover their tracks. I don't want to believe this is true about a business that we have trusted in the past, but we are struggling to find any other explanation. Unfortunately we won't be returning...

I ended up having to call 3 times until I was able to speak with the owner Vahe (sp? ; I'm not sure if he's related to Raj, the previous owner apparently) who refused to give me an estimate over the phone and said he had to 'plug it into my estimate software.' After some additional quibbling, he finally told me that it would probably cost around $600-700 dollars. This amount of money for a simple door and hood swap is ridiculous! It's something I could do on my own time but I just don't live in a place that allows for mechanic work (apartment complex) or access to all the tools. I recall Raj was way nicer and professional about it rather than trying to sound like a used car salesman and sleaze their way into bringing my car to the shop (I would have to ask a friend to bring the spare parts to be swapped since they don't fit in my car, at which point would be difficult to decline the job). Really, really disappointed and I don't think I can recommend this place again. *Update* Very interesting that the owner chose to respond so quickly upon my updated review. Their claim was factually false, as reasons to bring in my car were never discussed over the phone and he repeatedly just stated that he would be plugging in and quoting me whatever his estimate software produced. In fact, they have a button where you can request an estimate right on their Yelp page which makes it even more unbelievable. Would re-iterate to avoid this place like the plague since the new owners obviously did not carryover the honest work from the previous ones.
