INTEGRITY. That is what MJ Automotive practices. We brought our VW into MJ Automotive to find out why the engine light was on. Ben, the owner did a diagnostic check and discovered it was the catalytic converter. He said it would cost $900. He recommended we take it to a VW repair shop since my car was under warranty and they would do it for free. Ben is a honest and ethical mechanic. He didn't have to tell us that the work could have been done for free by the dealership. We really don't trust the VW dealership's repair shop in WC based on the reviews. Great customer service! I needed a Smog Check on my 2002 Nissan, so checked Yelp and MJ Automotive popped up. I have passed this place for years, right down the street from me, and not really paid attention to it. 20 minutes after I arrived, it was done. My previous smog checks have taken 2 hours or more waiting in line. I was so impressed, I drove home and brought my 2nd car up also for a smog check. 2 cars in less than hour? Great stuff. Discussed some major maintenance I needed done (timing belt) and he quickly quoted me a fair price. I need to save up some money, but I have my new favorite automotive shop. read more

I had a check engine light coming on intermittently and a smog check due on my 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. After reading the positive reviews I decided to give MJ Automotive a try. Don't let the look of the place fool you. The place is a very old school, small town automotive shop but the service is outstanding. After diagnosing the problem (there is a charge for that) he told me I had two options... he could fix it for $45 or he would show me how to fix it myself. I chose the latter, and made a stop at the auto parts store down the street. So for less than a $1's worth of vacuum hose and about 20 minutes removing, cleaning and installing the new hose I was on my way to the smog check only station without any worries of having the check engine light come on. This is the place!!! I found MJ in 2011 after attempting for months to get our motor home to pass the Smog Test. Within hours they were able to figure out what needed to adjusted in order to pass. Pulling up to the building I didn't think they looked like a high-quality business because it's an older building without all the modern signage but we sure did get high-quality service! Bien is awesome!! I bring all my cars to this shop. Don't be deceived by the outdoor appearance. They know their stuff and do a great job each time. I brought my civic there to get the brakes done and it costed half the price of what other places were asking. I recently brought my 2008 Mercedez there to get it's B service. Normally dealerships or even Mercedes specific shops charge anywhere from $350 to $400, His costs was half that! In addition he did a full rear brake job for no more than couple hundred dollars whereas the MBenz dealership was asking for close to $600 for the exact same work. I thought I would try this shop since its close to my house.I dropped in without an appointment and I did not pass because the car needed to be driven a little more. I checked with my scanner and I only had the evap not ready and should't have to drive any longer so I called Bureau of Automotive Repair to make sure I knew what I was talking about.After driving 200+ miles he said it wasn't ready and i told him that I knew it was under our state law and now he knew I knew the law he said not ready for him.He was so rude and way smaller than me so I figured he got's a little mans complex and that's why I didn't slap the taste out of his mouth. I'm an easy going guy but this man almost caught a fair one across his face .Because he is way smaller than me saved his ass. I got angry because i was trying to educate him on the law because he thought something different but you cant help a little man who is so rude and stupid.I went to a real shop where they knew how to treat a man who needs a smog and same evap wasn't ready but they passed me and i will be their smog customer at affordable tires in Antioch from now on . M & J needs to be retrained or maybe a chin check or something . read more

i've found my new mechanic. bien showed me the issue with my old parts and explained things. then he showed me the new part...and yes you could see the difference. he also found a oil gasket leak which another mechanic shop overlooked. he adjusted and tightened a loose hose no charge. my car has power again...and the prices are very reasonable. very pleased with mj automotive. read more

I read the reviews for this shop and I read nothing but good things. I called for pricing and found he was the best price in town. When I called back to try and make an apt, or find out the best (dead time) to come in since I would have to go on my lunch break, I had the most unprofessional and unkind service. He would not even speak to me. He kept cutting me off, asking how many times I was going to call him. Excuse me for trying to make an apt and not just drop in. I will not be bringing any of my vehicles to this shop and will not recommend to any of my family and friends. Its a shame. read more
