In my opinion: Good. Different. Had the papperdalle pasta and an olive and artichoke pizza. Pasta was good but they use a really rustic bolognese with little to no tomato. By the time we got it home it was kind of mushed together. Ordered a side of meatballs and they were delicious, but really hard. I had high hopes for this place. It's nice enough when you walk in. I mean, come on, it's a pizza joint. They do try to church it up a bit, but you have to call a spade a spade. It was clean, which I would definitely expect from it being so new. So it does have that going for it. On my visit, I had my entire family with me. Wife, 7 year old, and an almost 2 year old. I almost felt like the host was a little put out about having to get a high chair, but frankly, I don't give a rip. We were seated in a booth in the back (this place is small...10 feet in IS the back). This was fine with me. Drink orders were put in and we began to shop the menu. While we waited (and waited) for our drinks, we had a good time being underwhelmed by the menu. I would have just expected more options. But then again, I'm spoiled by Joe Mamas in Tulsa, OK. The menu did have some uppity items, which I shouldn't be too surprised about considering the name of the place. It just seemed a little much. I mean, it's a pizza place for crying out loud. Anyway, our drinks finally came out and we ended up ordering a custom pizza since we couldn't find anything to our liking on the menu. I think it was chicken and pepperoni, which is fairly standard flare for us. We waited...and waited...and I'm pretty sure the dinosaurs came back and then we had another ice age. That's how long it took for a brick oven pizza to come out. Now I know a brick oven pizza bakes in about 3 minutes or so. Account for waiting for others in front of us (it wasn't packed) and it was still way too long. When the pizza did finally arrive it was what I would expect. Thin, burnt spots on the crust, that kind of deal. Pretty much what I expect from a brick oven pizza. The pizza was just ok to decent for me. It wasn't anything I would rave to friends about or even recommend. I don't recall the price, which could be a good or bad thing. In short, take a visit there if you have some friends you are drinking with and aren't pressed for time. It seems like it would be ok for something like that. But with a family, I can't really recommend it. Particularly with a 7 year old who kept commenting about being starving. read more

Sadly I was very disappointed with this place and won't be back. Honestly I think some will like this place but it wasn't what I was looking for. There was no regular garlic bread sticks and no supreme pizza option so you have to order a meat lovers then take away topping and add what you want and make sure not to go over because extra toppings are $2. There was a kind of bread stick option but it lacked flavor and marinara sause was an extra $0.50 ranch was also an extra $0.50. You have the choice of a small pizza or a large. The green and black olives are kept together so if you don't like the salty taste of green olives don't get olives very salty. Great pizza, meatballs, salads. Can't wait for cooler weather for the patio. Drinks a tad pricey, but for the food.- worth it

First, the pizza was fantastic, if a little pricey. Limited selection of "prepackaged" pizzas, so you'll likely have to "build your own." Great crust. Nice beer list, but expensive. Lots of wines, but I don't drink wine. We never got our appetizer, so I can't comment on those. Which brings me to the service. It was terrible. Our waiter hardly ever checked on us. We had to ask him to refill our glasses once we flagged him down. He should have checked on our order, but obviously didn't. He blamed it on some nebulous reason that meant he screwed it up but wouldn't take the blame. Staff seemed unhappy and uncaring. We heard another person complaining to the manager (who looked like he was just standing around mostly). Pet peeve: any time we said "thank you" he replied "no problem." I hate this. Of course it's not problem -- it's your damned job. Just say "you're welcome." On a moderately busy Friday evening at 6:15, the place was extremely loud. The tables are either high tables right next to where people walked (I got bumped numerous times) or extremely close together (like you're sitting shoulder to shoulder at the same table). 5 stars for the excellent pizza, 2 stars for the service and environment. I was about to give up on pizza all together in NW Arkansas. On a whim, I ended up trying MJ's while passing back through to town. I'm so glad I did! Stepping into this place really is amazing. You instantly can tell this is more than a typical pizza joint. It is something you would see as a local place where people come to get food made from fresh ingredients put together masterfully. Food - ok, pizza crust was burned, not enough toppings, toppings slide off, and middle didn't seem done. However the ranch was good (had a dill taste to it). Drank a Strongbow apple cider (yummmmmm) and then ventured out and tried Sonoma the Pitchfork (pear cider)... I would say NO! (But I think it's a personal preference). If you like the apple ciders.. Stick to them.. He has a Woodchuck as well and should have gotten that to try! Place - small, quaint, but needs to be bigger. There is only two sizes of pizza: small (4 pieces) and large (8), a small menu of appetizers and pizzas, BUT you can make your own pizza, and then a looooooong list of beers and wines... Service - waitress was the best part: she was nice and answered questions thoroughly. The rest of dining in: well... It took way too long to get pizza and wrong size was brought to us, but we ended up getting right size. One of the hostesses was not the sweetest and was snippy towards us. It took forever to be seated when there was tables clearly open but needed wiped down. There was another hostess, but she seemed to just wander and not help the other hostess, so maybe that's why the other hostess was short with us. Result: with the way my husband is.... Y'all. I've had many a pizza in my day.. But no kidding, MJ's is THE BEST. (Pizza is my favorite food group. So believe me when I say, I know pizza. lol) It's a smidge pricey but let me tell ya, it's worth every frigen penny!!! All the ingredients are super fresh, they even make their own sausage and I'm super picky with sausage yet I love their's. We got the all meat and SO glad we did! The manager, Jim, also put freshly grated cheese on top and was the perfect addition. I swear they sprinkled fairy dust on the pizza because it's literally a magical experience. The vibe is really nice. So relaxing after a long day. We had Kinsey as our waitress and she was great! The staff seemed to genuinely care for the customers. It was fabulous! Oh! OK, so this has been one of my go to places since it opened. We live nearby so it's very convenient and the food is great. Went to MJs this evening with some friends from out of town, knowing it would be an amazing experience. Food was delicious, service was great! We were on the patio finishing our cocktails and enjoying our evening. The manager (I assume) came to our table and said, "I hate to be rude but we've been closed for 30 minutes and I need for you to leave". First of all, no one told us they were closing or gave us last call, in fact we were served drinks within 30 minutes of when we were told that they were closed. Secondly, there are ways to let customers know that it is past closing time that are much less offensive. I am very disappointed because I have recommended this place to many friends; both locals and out-of-town friends. I don't think I will be doing that again. This is too bad. MJ's is a ready bright spot in the otherwise dim Springdale/Tontitown/Elm Springs dining scene. Yes, it can be frustratingly slow, and expensive, but the ingredients are fresh & high quality. The delicious Ozark Smash cocktail is worth the drive alone. We've been probably 10x since they opened and have tried quite a bit of the menu; favorites are the tarte flambe pizza, Mediterranean salad and Bolognese pasta. I do wish they offered more "lighter" options, much of this menu (especially the pasta) is really heavy, but we'll keep coming back! read more

If I had only purchased their pizza I would have given them 5 star. However I purchased their Ceaser Salad and was not just unimpressed but disappointed. The cost was high and all I really received was lettuce. Plus a cherry tomatoe cut in half and a vague amount of a few other things that were so minimal that I can't recall them. They need to step up their salads. However the pizza was sinfully good. The crust and the sauce, WOW! The sauce is the best in NWA. Try it with meatballs as a topping: it's not a whole, round meatball, but slices of their pork and beef meatballs, which are too die for. Get an order of the whole meatballs for the kids! Should be a law that people with facial hair wear a beard net not but not here. Food was great the 1st time I went there. Been back twice and had to leave, first time was because they stack the tables to close to each other and the second time because the guy tossing our dough had long stringy unmanicured facial hair. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We went on a Friday night. It always seems to be busy. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table. I was starving, so I was a little frustrated waiting. I would advise calling ahead if you don't want to wait. I'm usually not that impatient. We ordered the spinach dip for an appetizer just because I was so hungry. Even being so hungry, it was just average. The appetizer list is very small with just a few choices. I would have loved to see some cheese bread of some sort. My 3 year old daughter would too lol. My wife ordered a side salad and she said it was good. We had the loaded meat pizza. It was delicious. The pizza is 5 stars. Fresh, quality ingredients that were tasty. We both had a beer and our daughter got a small cheese pizza and a sprite. Our tab was $55 lol. For a pizza joint, that's expensive. The environment is more suited for drinking tasty drinks and watching games, which I'm all for. The waitress was nice and did a good job. She even brought a coloring book and crayons for our daughter while we waited. In summary, very expensive for a night of pizza. Pretty busy on weekend nights if you don't like waiting. I'll probably go back at some point, but I'll stick with a pizza only and probably a water. read more
