Came here for the 19.99 special and was pleasantly surprised. Found out about this place on Instagram and it was a nice that they were so close to me and had parking. The food is good quality. Even without the promo their prices are competitive and it's nice they run lunch specials. I'm used to Korean BBQ being easily $50 a person. I've been to some more expensive Korean BBQs and ones that looked nicer, but MJD offers great quality at an affordable price. Also, food is self serve from a bar which is cool. Service was good as well. We were seated quickly and go the check pretty quickly as well. I plan to come back here to try the gold tier. read more

The staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help. This has to be one of the most unique Korean BBQ places I've ever been to! I love that they have different tiers, and you're able to control how much food you order, which helps reduce waste. The food quality was amazing, and the variety was even better. The ambiance was fantastic! The restaurant was modern, clean, lively, and had such a fun atmosphere. It felt welcoming without being too crowded or overwhelming. I came during a FIFA game, and having TVs throughout the restaurant made the experience even better. It was the perfect place to enjoy great food while watching the match. They even have a ramen station, which was such a fun surprise! On top of that, there's a self-serve station where you can pick and choose your favorite side dishes and go back for as much as you'd like. Checked them out during their soft opening. Got their happy hour special for 23.99. Kids 6-9 is 14.99. Regular price is 28.99. They gave out free tequila shots and melona ice cream! Score! You won't find ayce kbbq for this cheap. I liked their korean fried chicken, brisket, beef belly and bulgogi. I never eat bulgogi at ayce kbbq places but my kids and I enjoyed it here. I also liked their pumpkin porridge. The self serving bar is convenient and makes everything more efficient so you don't have to wait around. Parking can be tight as it is in the same plaza as Dave's Hot Chicken and a bunch of other businesses. I felt the grill was a bit small for 4 people. It's perfect for a party of 2. We had a great time! Service was fast and attentive. I love the serve yourself meat section because we were able to get exactly how much we can eat and not a single piece was leftover. The sides were good. The only thing I didn't care for was the cucumbers, it had no flavor. They have two different soups and curry. The spicy kimchi soup was the best. The only meats we tried was spicy pork belly, beef belly and something that started with a "J". All were great. I love that they gave you real cups for water and not the tiny ones more kbbq places gives. My only complaint was the music was too loud at times. And parking may be an issue. MJD is now officially our new favorite AYCE Korean bbq. We are so glad this place just opened. Not only is it a walkable distance from where we live (we can partake in as much soju and makgeolli as our little hearts desire without any repercussions, except for a possible hangover), but it's simply the best AYCE for price point. My usual gripe with most kbbq AYCE is that I get fatigued from eating too much meat, not even necessarily that I'm full. At MJD, their buffet includes an assortment of dishes that aren't all bbq meat. Their banchan selection is top tier - everything is made in house, and their kimchi is particularly flavorful. Their buffet offerings include raw marinated crab (which is arguably better than even that highly hyped place in ktown that literally specializes in marinated crab), chicken katsu, Korean fried chicken, fried tofu, fried squid, Korean beef tartare, japchae, and even a ramen bar. I almost even forgot to mention the excellent soup bar - which included soybean soup, kimchi soup, and pumpkin porridge. This place was so fun to eat at, and I loved their high energy K-pop playlist as well as comfortable booth seating. I visited with my partner, but would love to bring a group of friends next time as the seating is very conducive for group visits (large, comfortable, booth seating that accommodates many diners). While we visited during lunch, we were informed that they have a pojangmacha room, which is a nod to Korean street drinking culture. Apparently they operate in the evening only, and serve a different menu (not AYCE). Would love to return just to check out this part of the restaurant. Lastly, when most restaurants in ktown charge for parking, I really appreciated the free parking right outside the restaurant - honestly a rarity in ktown. Service was also exceptional for AYCE kbbq, which I noticed another reviewer also noticed was rare of AYCE spots. Servers were friendly and attentive. We will most certainly be back again! read more

One of the original KBBQ spots that's been around forever, now nicely remodeled. Service is amazing and the owner is super friendly and you really feel taken care of. Our first time visiting MJD Korean BBQ was an awesome experience. We came on a Saturday evening so there was a wait but less than 10 minutes. The dining area is pretty spacious and they have quite a lot of tables and booths to sit at. They also have two large flat screen TVs on both sides of the restaurant and were showing the FIFA games. They had a nice variety of meat from beef belly, pork belly, bulgogi, chicken, etc both regular and marinated, a ramen station, soup and rice station, a banchan/salad bar with plenty of toppings and fresh veggies to choose from, and even Melona ice cream and Soju. I really liked how clean and well ventilated it was as it wasn't too smoky or hot while grilling the meat. My sister chose this place to celebrate her birthday and the staff went above and beyond with their hospitality and great customer service! I've been here 3 times now for their weekend $19.99 special and I can confidently say this is easily one of the BEST KBBQ spots in LA. Normally their Silver menu is $28.99, but they offer lots of happy hour and Instagram specials to save you a couple bucks. Even paying full price, I would be extremely satisfied with the restaurants offerings. Everything is self-serve from the meat to the banchan to the sauces, allowing you to take initiative and not feel like you're constantly flagging down a waiter. The meats are all solid quality, some days are better than others, but still better than a lot of KBBQ places in this price range. I love that they have the rice, soups, and ramen/buckwheat noodles ready to go as well, and I can honestly say their Korean Fried Chicken at the hot bar is better than a majority of chicken places I've been to. Across the board everything is a strong 8, and then you get a free Melona bar of your choice. The servers are attentive since they're not bogged down constantly facilitating orders, and the restaurant itself is well ventilated and spacious. Absolutely cannot miss spot!!! read more

The ad they had for the Memorial Day is a bit false advertising, it says there's over 50 items with a $19.99 price but you don't get all 50 items, your meat choices are limited to like 10 choices. This place used to be called choeng wun or something like that and changed their name to MJD, nothings really changed it's still horrible interior with horrible seating and table with outdated and dirty grills. The only premium meat they have here is the Galbi, the other meat selections are horrible and low quality. I even saw tiny fruit flys near the meat area which I think is a health violation and should be looked into. Service was good, food was bad. I don't see myself coming back here again anytime soon, if this place is going to rebrand itself it needs to really redo the interior not just put a fancy new name at the top of their doors. read more

I'm happy that I don't have to go all the way to Koreatown. But one thing I like to point out is that it's basically a self-serve. We went around 6 PM on a weekday, but the displayed meats like brisket, beef belly, and pork belly were not available. When we asked the staff, they refilled about half of it, but the meat looked like scraps. I'm not sure if it was sliced badly, but it was all broken apart and looked very low quality. The service was also terrible. The Korean staff were just chatting at the counter, while only the Mexican female server checked on us from time to time. Then, when it was time to pay, a Korean staff member suddenly came over, asked if everything was okay, and only helped with the bill. I really enjoyed the buffet style so I could pick just one or two pieces of different things rather than having a whole plate brought out, and if we loved it we could go back up and pile it on.
