    Korean BBQ in action

If you're looking for an old school Korean BBQ joint in LA then I would definitely check out MJD Korean Barbecue. Not only is it SUPER affordable, but the food was absolutely yummy! It's self serve (even for the meat, yaaaas!) I was surprised that there was parking on a holiday weekend and we were able to get seated right away. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Great experience here! Came on my mom's birthday! There wasn't a wait. Staff were attentive and helpful. Food was great! Lots of options and everything was flavorful ! Fun environment. Would definitely come back again! They also had a ramen bar and melona ice cream!!

Checked them out during their soft opening. Got their happy hour special for 23.99. Kids 6-9 is 14.99. Regular price is 28.99. They gave out free tequila shots and melona ice cream! Score! You won't find ayce kbbq for this cheap. I liked their korean fried chicken, brisket, beef belly and bulgogi. I never eat bulgogi at ayce kbbq places but my kids and I enjoyed it here. I also liked their pumpkin porridge. The self serving bar is convenient and makes everything more efficient so you don't have to wait around. Parking can be tight as it is in the same plaza as Dave's Hot Chicken and a bunch of other businesses. I felt the grill was a bit small for 4 people. It's perfect for a party of 2. Check them out!

The service was amazing. Alberto rocks. This was our first time on the place and we will be coming back pretty soon. Thank you for all.

We had a great time! Service was fast and attentive. I love the serve yourself meat section because we were able to get exactly how much we can eat and not a single piece was leftover. The sides were good. The only thing I didn't care for was the cucumbers, it had no flavor. They have two different soups and curry. The spicy kimchi soup was the best. The only meats we tried was spicy pork belly, beef belly and something that started with a "J". All were great. I love that they gave you real cups for water and not the tiny ones more kbbq places gives. My only complaint was the music was too loud at times. And parking may be an issue. We found parking only because we went around 7:30 and most places around there was closed.

Best price for veteran kbbq eaters. Self serve everything is great when you know exactly what you want. Party of 4 is a perfect size for one grill. Got the silver option for $19.99 and ate so much cold soba and meat i didnt even get to the ramen station. Pumpkin porridge was good. We forgot to get alcohol but it looked cold and delicious. Love this for casual dining. Very attentive staff thats always standing around at all stations to help customers. They kept the tables clear and the drinks filled. Cute spot. Def worth the drive from long beach.

All the meats were quality that matched the price and a very good value for lunch. Staff were very attentive and polite in how to use the self-serve bar. Occasionally came over to see if everything was good and if I needed anything. Restaurant has a very open space that has a very nice interior mixed with 80s and modern vibes. Free ice cream at the end. Would come back again with a bigger group to support this new business :)

Brought a party of 8 on a Saturday night and they were very accommodating. From the minute we stepped into the restaurant they were welcoming and very informative of how it worked. They offer silver and gold options. Our server Alberto was awesome. He went out of his way and made custom sides and offered tips on what meats and sides to try. Definitely coming back really enjoyed the atmosphere and service from our server to the manager who even took shots with us! 건배

Self serve ramen and meat bar

Great new kbbq spot with lots of sides and meat options with a great price point. Staff was nice and the place was clean. Miso soup was bomb and can't go wrong with beef belly.

One of the original KBBQ spots that's been around forever, now nicely remodeled. Service is amazing and the owner is super friendly and you really feel taken care of. The hot bar (fried squid, wings, much more) and banchan bar is always full and fresh, plus they have a surprisingly great ramen selection too. Great food, great value, and still kind of a hidden gem. Def recommend!

    Beef belly is fantastic!!

I decided to go with the Mongolian hot bar I piled on cabbage, all vegetables with one egg and house sauce. I tried the fruit the watermelon and cantaloupe wasn't sweet, however, the honeydew was really yummy. They have a boba drink station I tried the passion tea it was good. My boyfriend tried their desserts he liked the three layer mouse cake. I wasn't aware the Restaurant in LA charge a 10% service fee when I saw it on the bill I immediately was going to question it however, I googled first and basically the restaurants have to post it before charging you. When we walked in we didn't notice the signs on the wall if you don't pay attention you will miss the notice as you walk in. The 10% is to help the owner offset gratuity and healthcare for the employees so you have no choice but to pay it even if you didn't see the posting on the wall. They also have a sign to say a tip is not required because of the service fee.

Came here with classmates to celebrate ourselves, and why not with the abundance of food at Gourmet City. One of our classmates recommended this place and glad she did because I am not going to stop coming here after this. Where do I start? Upon entrance you are greeted by a lovely marble floor and grandiose chandelier and beautiful sign. The place is clean and very open, plates and drinks are open and all station very kept up with. My mongolian grille plate was soooo good and cooked to order(added jalapenos, bell peppers red&green, mushrooms, cabage, garlic and beef. It was so delicious! Second plate, was good to LOL a lottttttt of crab legs which the price for itself at this point, Shrimp broil style, thai style, scampi. Theres pasta, ribs, salad. But also desserts like ie chocolate fountain OMG, jello and the fresh fruit was so delicious. I waited all day for this place and Im so glad I did. I had a little bit of everything and cant wait to bring my son and husband. Servers were attentive, served water and utensils at all times. Parking was easy at 330ish time but I can imagine it could get difficult. Thank you!

I'll start with the Cons first: Reserved on OpenTable, I knew about the $25 per person cancellation…read morefee so no surprise. I actually had to try & cancel but was literally 20 minutes late through the email & OpenTable does not it give you an internet option to cancel after the 48hrs. It says, "For any changes or cancellations please CALL" But good luck with that for no one actually answers the phone, this is done on purposes in my opinion. I tried calling at least 40 times from Thursday to late Friday! Just remember when they say you can cancel up to 48hrs they do not mean 48hrs & 1 second later. That choice to do an online cancellation WILL close at 48hrs even. Self parking is weird too. Not the parking part but leaving it's sort of a pain. They give you the typical ticket but they also give you a complimentary QR Code that pays for the parking which is great! But the reader sucks & you got a bunch of people lining up behind you. It worked but there needs to be a better system. I suggest paying a little more & just valeting. Pro's: We ended saying screw it let's go! Pro's the traffic that Saturday was ridiculously crazy more than usual through Downtown LA but we got there 20 minutes late & feared the worst. But they honored our reservation. Let me say the service was IMPECCABLE, our server was on it every step of the way, very kind, friendly & funny! The food was kind of what I expected, more like a Bacchanal at Caesars in Vegas. & it some ways even better. I felt the quality & food prep & cooking was totally worth it, except for the crab legs. A little too salty like they cooked it too long in salt!!! Everything else was excellent. Probably one of the best lamb chops I've had from a buffet or anywhere else. The lobster was also excellent & I can see that the lobster was the main call not the crab legs judging by other tables plates. It was well worth it. Would I drive in that LA traffic again from South OC anytime soon? NO! But maybe next year! LOL!

For a LONG time, I've been meaning to go to Cafe Sierra for quite some time now. I finally decided…read moreto go when they were running the end of summer special of the Saturday AYCE lobster buffet dinner for around $109 ($30 off). I was so excited to finally go. However, my first lobster was such a bad start to the dinner. It was either overcooked or a bad lobster. It tasted funky and the innards, including the lobster tail, tasted off. The subsequent lobsters redeemed the AYCE lobster deal, but my palate was already off from that first one. How disappointing...the other buffet items were decent. The spread of raw and cold seafood items were decent. I expected fresher seafood but then again, SoCal isn't close to the Atlantic Ocean where seafood seems to be much better. I had a little bit of most of the buffet spread, but it didn't hit as hard as it should. They have a few types of steaks including Korean style LA Galbi. However, they need to work on different cooking temps as most were or close to well done. I like my steaks medium rare to medium but none of them were at that level. I skipped the prime rib given the disappointment from the other steaks, and I was quite full at this point. I finished it off with the spread of desserts. Honestly, the overall dessert spread was probably the closest complete area to be quite fair in value and taste. For a cost of $100+, I expected way better quality overall and in certain dishes at this AYCE dinner buffet. Each lobster should also be better inspected given it ruined the first impression and my dinner overall. But then again, I've been to one of my favorite seafood places AYCE or other...The Nordic in Charlestown, RI. Many seafood and lobster AYCE expectations have been highly escalated due to them.

I could fill-up on their salmon sashimi alone (I definitely get a plate to start with) & be decently satisfied. That said, there's so much here to be pleased with. It's no secret that many buffets have done away with crab legs. Sometimes, I wonder how many populations of crab my family has decimated alone. But I have to admit, during this visit I've literally never seen 2 people put away so many crawfish - (in my humble opinion, the "poor man's lobster"). I'm not trying to exaggerate, but I feel like these 2 people alone put crawfish on the endangered species list. There's a decent variety of Sushi, Asian-American, American, & a grill-to-order-station. The dessert selection has a decent variety of fruits, your standard buffet pastries, & an unmistakable ice cream freezer (to scoop from gallons). Pro-Tip: When scooping ice-cream, it always helps to dip the scooper & rinse it under the running facet - it also helps to prevent cross contamination of different flavors. Another tip: Don't even think of trying to "sneak-in" crab legs onto your plate by only paying the lunch price - the staff always knows who has paid for the extra price of dinner.

For $37 (and 20% for seniors on Mon/Tues), I thought it was pretty worth for the amount of food we ate. - Korean rib (grill): thinly cut, tender, and nicely marinated (even when you don't ask for any special sauces). so yummy to eat it fresh off the grill - snow crab: i prefer eating this hot than chilled, and it hit the spot! meaty, sweet crab. they refilled this often - cajun seafood: not too salty! includes mussels, shrimps, thin corn cobs which I actually prefer - crawfish: nicely marinated and tasty but dry meat ); parents said the last time they had this here a month ago it was better - salmon sashimi was also restocked and tasted fresh - Fish maw soup/chowder: both were tasty as well - matcha ice cream: yummm - lots of fresh fruit options: blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, cherries even Other selections are standard and not bad. Dim Sum is unique but usually not done well so I didn't even bother. Chicken feet isn't bad tho Bathrooms could be cleaner and service was slooow. We maybe saw our waiter like 3 times? He only cleared our plates once and he never offered us water refills, which we had to actively flag him down for. It wasn't busy as it was a Monday and we were the only table in that seating area (lower level by the Mongolian grill)

We came around 5pm, so we were quickly seated with only a handful of tables occupied. We ordered our drinks and made our way around the location to figure out what they had. They had ice cream and boba tea in the back corner, then came the dim sum options, hot foods, items for the grill, sushi, desserts with a chocolate fountain, and a mixture of cold items, such as fruits, seafood, and more desserts. Right away I got a plate of snow crabs and noticed the seafood boil the had shrimp and corn, so I got one of that as well the clams and some pieces of sushi. The crab legs were easy to open though I did have my husband request for crab cracker to help me with the harder pieces. I definitely preferred dipping the crab meat into the seafood boil sauce than the melted butter they had. The clams were pretty good as well, so I made sure to get a second round of them with the snow crabs. I did dabble in trying other foods, but preferred my seafood combo that I got. Once I had my fill with savory, I tackled the sweets and buffets are always fun to try new desserts but overall my fave was just good ol' pistachio almond ice cream with my milk tea.
