Finally found a Korean BBQ spot that actually gives good quality meat for a reasonable price. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and came out fast. MJD is now officially our new favorite AYCE Korean bbq. We are so glad this place just opened. Not only is it a walkable distance from where we live (we can partake in as much soju and makgeolli as our little hearts desire without any repercussions, except for a possible hangover), but it's simply the best AYCE for price point. My usual gripe with most kbbq AYCE is that I get fatigued from eating too much meat, not even necessarily that I'm full. At MJD, their buffet includes an assortment of dishes that aren't all bbq meat. Their banchan selection is top tier - everything is made in house, and their kimchi is particularly flavorful. Their buffet offerings include raw marinated crab (which is arguably better than even that highly hyped place in ktown that literally specializes in marinated crab), chicken katsu, Korean fried chicken, fried tofu, fried squid, Korean beef tartare, japchae, and even a ramen bar. I almost even forgot to mention the excellent soup bar - which included soybean soup, kimchi soup, and pumpkin porridge. This place was so fun to eat at, and I loved their high energy K-pop playlist as well as comfortable booth seating. I visited with my partner, but would love to bring a group of friends next time as the seating is very conducive for group visits (large, comfortable, booth seating that accommodates many diners). While we visited during lunch, we were informed that they have a pojangmacha room, which is a nod to Korean street drinking culture. Apparently they operate in the evening only, and serve a different menu (not AYCE). Would love to return just to check out this part of the restaurant. Lastly, when most restaurants in ktown charge for parking, I really appreciated the free parking right outside the restaurant - honestly a rarity in ktown. Service was also exceptional for AYCE kbbq, which I noticed another reviewer also noticed was rare of AYCE spots. Servers were friendly and attentive. We will most certainly be back again! read more

Checked them out during their soft opening. Got their happy hour special for 23.99. Kids 6-9 is 14.99. Regular price is 28.99. They gave out free tequila shots and melona ice cream! Score! You won't find ayce kbbq for this cheap. I liked their korean fried chicken, brisket, beef belly and bulgogi. I never eat bulgogi at ayce kbbq places but my kids and I enjoyed it here. I also liked their pumpkin porridge. The self serving bar is convenient and makes everything more efficient so you don't have to wait around. Parking can be tight as it is in the same plaza as Dave's Hot Chicken and a bunch of other businesses. I felt the grill was a bit small for 4 people. It's perfect for a party of 2. The ad they had for the Memorial Day is a bit false advertising, it says there's over 50 items with a $19.99 price but you don't get all 50 items, your meat choices are limited to like 10 choices. This place used to be called choeng wun or something like that and changed their name to MJD, nothings really changed it's still horrible interior with horrible seating and table with outdated and dirty grills. The only premium meat they have here is the Galbi, the other meat selections are horrible and low quality. I even saw tiny fruit flys near the meat area which I think is a health violation and should be looked into. Service was good, food was bad. I don't see myself coming back here again anytime soon, if this place is going to rebrand itself it needs to really redo the interior not just put a fancy new name at the top of their doors. read more

I went after seeing their Instagram and had high expectations, but it was honestly one of the worst experiences. We went around 6 PM on a weekday, but the displayed meats like brisket, beef belly, and pork belly were not available. When we asked the staff, they refilled about half of it, but the meat looked like scraps. I'm not sure if it was sliced badly, but it was all broken apart and looked very low quality. The service was also terrible. The Korean staff were just chatting at the counter, while only the Mexican female server checked on us from time to time. Then, when it was time to pay, a Korean staff member suddenly came over, asked if everything was okay, and only helped with the bill. I would never come back here again, and I honestly would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Not sure if it's the owners son, seems like the owner maybe the parents and have their sun running the operation out of succession. He's extremely rude and was being passive aggressive when my partner and I had showed up to eat after work. I'll never be coming back here again and definitely will advise people against coming here. The front staff named Norma was really cool and she deserves to be working under better people than there! My partner Made a call prior coming and confirmed as she'd seen online that dogs had been there, the staff said they allow dogs on the phone call before we left the house; you can even look on here and it says dogs welcome so this whole hoopla he's trying to make was unnecessary. if you have a dog, go to Meat Love KBBQ in KTown, if you want a better open Bar experience than here go to Gangnam Station, if you want more food options than here as this menu is limited; go to Road To Seoul, Wi KBBQ, Seoul Soul, Hae Jang Chon or TGI KBBQ! This place used to be known for unlimited lettuce, garlic, jalapeños, and ssamjang, which is honestly one of the main reasons we came. But almost everything was already gone except jalapeños. The ssamjang came out almost 30 minutes after we started eating. It was only 6:30PM, yet they were already running out of basic ingredients, and we were even told garlic was "too expensive" to keep stocked. At that point, are they trying to run a Korean BBQ restaurant or not? It honestly feels like the ownership may have changed. Instead of focusing on appearances and decor, they should understand that customers come back when the basics are always available. Also, the ventilation is probably one of the worst I've experienced at a Korean BBQ restaurant. After coming home, our clothes immediately had to go into the wash, and showering was mandatory because the smoke smell was so strong. Very disappointing experience. read more

I went during their soft opening and opted for the silver level bbq which wasn't subject to any discount. I should've looked and asked if anything was not available because some of the raw meat was grey and discolored and about half of the items listed for silver level were not available. There were customers who had finished eating leaving as he was telling us this, so it didn't make sense. This place is a new kbbq spot and it's a buffet style. It's actually more convenient than waiting on waiters to get our meats in my opinion, they also have a fresh homemade salad bar where you get all your condiments and side dishes. For all you can eat kbbq the meat quality was really good. The servers were really great very friendly. Constantly checking if you need more water or change grills also don't forget to get some popular Korean alcohol like soju and beer when getting kbbq. It's not a Korean bbq experience if u don't got drinks. One of the waiter introduced us soju+bomb which u mix soju and beer together and it reallly was bomb. It was very refreshing and the meat taste so much better after a shot. So if u guys want the full Korean way bbq must get soju and beer with it. Trust guys hahaha .
