Right when you walk through the door, you are greeted by host. One of the hosts was very kind even gave me a courtesy beverage for the way one of the hosts had an attitude I haven't seen her roll her eyes at a couple of customers She even was very sarcastic at the end of us leaving Niku X was a great experience A lot of selections and options for you to try You get to choose from a buffet with seafood beef selection, some vegetable selection We went for a birthday The servers were very attentive and always checking on you to see if you need help with making sure if you need any more beverage or help cooking your food, which is great The dining area is very open. You get your own personal table. The lighting is dim so it feels very private. Nice music selection while you're eating. I would only come back here for a important event or holiday kind of pricey but for the experience, it's worth it all the food a lot of flavor the meat, very tender a lot of flavor all you can eat crab is a plus I honestly feel since you're dining here and you're already paying top dollar they should give courtesy water. I didn't know that we were charged 8 to 9 dollars per water bottle. But he's for the experience well worth it for a one time.

I've been to a few other Chubby Cattle concepts and comparatively, Niku X is my least favorite due to the experience and price. It's basically a highly upscaled Vegas buffet with the option to grill your own yakiniku (Japanese-style barbecue meat). First of all, it's confusing to dine here. Having eaten here, I still don't understand their different menu types or what they fully offer between weekdays and weekends. Even physically, you need to drive to the InterContinental hotel, receive valet parking (website states you can either valet or self-park, but we were told it's valet only), and request validation ($16.50 total for the first 2.5 hours); good luck if you're trying to find parking elsewhere as it's DTLA's financial district. After giving your car away, you walk in to the lobby with a lack of signage and shuffle to the right, where there's escalators to Niku X on the 2nd floor. Reservations are highly recommended. We did the $125/$109 for members menu, which includes a couple wagyu options and other sides that must be ordered through your server. You also have full rein of the self-serve buffet line. When we were seated, our server suggested some menu highlights, had someone else come over and cook for us a bit, and then pretty much left for the rest of our time there. At least they told us they had a secret seasoning within the black jar in front of us, which was indeed delicious (tasted like some type of "everything" seasoning but for meats)! Good * Tables and space are comfortable, clean, and spacious, and if you get to sit next to a window, there's a neat view. * Wagyu beef and skewers were good, as well as their "secret seasoning". * Very convenient to grab your own raw meat and skewers to cook. * Samplers of the buffet line were neat and decent, such as the mini lobster roll (very creamy), carpaccio, ceviche, and nigiri. * Steamed lobster tails were obviously overcooked, but not to a great extent and at least unlimited and good with the clarified butter. * From the cooked to order menu, the best items were: miso Chilean seabass wrap, wagyu tallow shishito pepper, and potato pave - you can skip the rest. * Server was efficient with following up point redemption on membership. Bad * Lack of service for price you're paying. We came when only 10-20% of the restaurant was filled, so there shouldn't have been an excuse for this. * Very hard to get your money's worth due to quantity gating - the most expensive proteins are ordered via waiter, and the amount per serving is one slice or one piece of it. * The steamed seafood was overcooked and did not taste fresh, thus we just grabbed our first set of king crab and snow crab legs and never came back for them; the calamari and abalone were also rubbery. * Majority of hot dishes and food cooked to order were value traps. * From the cooked to order menu, the absolute worst items were: duck bone soup (most soups were salty with just a piece of their overcooked crab legs), Niku salad, miso eel, and broccoli tempura. * The Australian wagyu pure bred wagyu tenderloin that was limited to one order per person just tasted like basic meat. * We did not eat dessert because we were never informed that was an option. Apparently I was "the first person to order every signature dish on the menu" for science, so you're welcome (thank god they did not give me the fries). If I wanted to maximize the value, I would only eat the wagyu, lobster, crab, and carpaccio. That being said, the price reflects the fancy selection you get, and I have no doubt that I would have had a better and cheaper meal ordering my own a la carte wagyu or lobster dish elsewhere, or going to a place that only did AYCE bbq. The fact that Niku X does both buffet and yakiniku is a novelty, but also heightens the price while splitting your stomach space strategy. Overall, I'd say Niku X was worth a try, especially if you are a Chubby Cattle member and perhaps have a reward offer. Unfortunately, I've paid less at their other concepts and received better service and food. We had to be aggressive about water, and didn't understand what was included in our meal, which led to us not having any dessert. It looks like they pay more attention to you if you come in a big group/party. They say you get additional treats for birthdays and anniversaries, so I'd suggest reserving your time here for a special occasion. However, my party was in fact celebrating something, and even the employees mentioned it, but we didn't get any special treatment other than the well wishes. I typically enjoy Chubby Cattle restaurants, but this one will be hard justifying coming back, especially in LA where there's tons of other AYCE options.

Whenever I think of luxury and All You can Eat, I think of Niku X. I will say it's for sure on the pricier side, but I can see why. Huge crab legs, meaty lobster tails, and good quality meat, you are def getting what you pay for. In addition there is fresh sashimi and other entrees to try. I don't mind getting my fill from just the grilled meat and seafood though... I also love the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a nice moody setting, and the service is top tier. Our server was amazing and everything came out so fast. Staff was nice as well!

Roman was incredible. I never had a better server before. He went above and beyond by knowing the menu, checking up on us, cooking our meat, and even taking out the shells of the lobsters for over 8 of them that we ate. He was constantly filling our waters, making good convo, and refilling napkins while attending to other guests. I want Roman to be our server everytime we go! He should be promoted! As for the food, it has always been incredible. Sushi, A5 wagyu, seafood, what more could you ask for. It was incredible and everything was well stocked up. It was a great atmosphere and everything was clean and ready to go. It was a very welcoming experience and we can't wait to go back. 100 stars!

The food was amazing! Even though it's AYCE, the quality is not like the others. The spread was quite amazing - snow crab clusters, king crab legs, shrimp cocktail, abalone, sashimi, and many cuts of beef for the BBQ. The service was outstanding! Joe and Mikey were amazing! Super attentive and friendly. The decor is modern and inviting. We truly enjoyed the experience. A great place to celebrate special events. Only valet parking is available but the restaurant will give you a code for a discount. No self parking option.

Came for the weekend seafood buffet. You can pay extra to include some beef (and be seated at a table with a grill) but we opted just for the regular seafood buffet. We got to sit near the windows for better views. It includes a selection of hot appetizer/tapas that are ordered by the server but otherwise we went to get our own crabs, shrimp, and varies cold dishes at the buffet counter. Food was presented well and tasty.

Sooooo hubby brought me here for a birthday dinner. First time. Chubby member - 50% Off for your birthday! YEE-haw! I was excited for the Wagyu and seafood. The quality of the meat was top tier. But dayamnnnn you can only eat so much Wagyu! We were struggling at the end! Hahahaha - I was feeling a little oily for a moment!! food was good. But I don't think it's worth the price. I prefer better selection in the buffet. We got premium which is $145 for member price. It's actually cheaper to go on the weekday. Let's talk about service. I gave them 4 stars because of their service! I forgot out waiters name he hardly checked on us --- but Kevin and Joe were exceptional! Super personable and professional. They made us feel comfortable and we enjoyed their conversations. They were very helpful!! They gave us inside tips on how to grill the meat and what to top it with. I tried beef tongue for the first time - surprisingly delish. Thanks for the encouragement Kevin! Haha! Ambiance was contemporary with the view. It's located in the intercontinental hotel. Parking validation for 2 hours. They brought me out slices of cake and complimentary yuzu sparklers! Refreshing. For two people our bill was $320 which includes gratuity. Worth it if you have the membership. But a bit overpriced for what the buffet offered. I probably wouldn't crave to go back. But we have a $50 voucher you can only use on Sunday -Thursday. Mr. Chubby is sneaky! if you want a fancier spot to dine - bring your appetite and your wallet - this would be the spot. Again. Shoutout to Joe and Kevin! You both are amazing!!!!

Roman is best waiter in Niku X for sure! He always makes sure our table is taken care of and so thoughtful for our table. He's considerate and really really helpful! Shout out to the best waiter - ROMAN. And that's the only best thing for this experience - service Food: I'd say it's a great experience overall but Chubby Cattle ( same restaurant chain) definitely taste better and has good variety of food and appetizers. I came here expect more but the buffet bar has less items than I expect, the food taste okay. Nothing really special. The crab legs are warm so when you take them out and start eating, due to the room temperature, it turns cold. For $100+ per person, to be honest I expect better food. Service: Everyone here is super nice and attentive, again Roman got the spot in our heart! Ambiance: It is great for a date, a little celebration of birthday or anniversary for sure Will I come back? Maybe if they have more food items. I feel like it's not worth the price you pay for

Niku X is such a cute little upstairs spot tucked inside a fancy restaurant--definitely gives that elevated, special-occasion vibe right when you walk in. I really appreciated how the staff took the time to clearly explain my Chubby Cattle membership. Turns out it only applied to one location, so I had to upgrade--but honestly, the upgrade worked out in my favor since it gave me a better discount than the other offer I had been texted. That level of transparency was a huge plus. Service across the board was amazing. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything all night. They absolutely do not lack in service by any means. That said... I was a bit let down by the seafood. Based on reviews and Instagram photos, I came in with high expectations. The king crab legs were noticeably smaller than expected and unfortunately a bit dry when eating them. The standout for me was definitely the colossal shrimp--those were excellent. The steamed lobster was good, but not quite great. One small suggestion: it would really improve the experience if they either trimmed the underside of the lobster shell so it's easier (and safer) to hold, or pre-loosened the meat from the shell after slicing it open. It was a bit of a struggle to get to the meat, even though the flavor itself was solid. Since I went on my birthday, I did get a larger discount, which was a big win and honestly one of the main reasons we chose to go tonight. Overall, I'd say it's worth trying--especially for a celebration--but probably not somewhere I'd go just for a casual night out.

When it comes to a standout dining experience, the Chubby Group has yet to let me down, and Niku X just may be their finest concept in Los Angeles. Located in the Wilshire Grand Center, which also happens to be the tallest skyscraper in LA, this modern yakiniku restaurant centers its menu around premium Wagyu beef and offers an indulgent spread of beautifully marbled cuts, fresh seafood, and expertly prepared dishes, all served buffet-style in an all-you-can-eat format. With the Premium A5 Wagyu menu at $149 per person, you can enjoy A5 ribeye and strip loin, along with other cuts from Masami Ranch domestic Wagyu, like thick-cut beef tongue, as well as grilled king crab legs and other seafood. On top of the BBQ portion of the meal, you also have access to their buffet, where you can grab sushi, skewers, and even other meats from the $109 menu. They also feature live stations where the chefs hand out specialty dishes, such as Peking duck wraps. We actually made our reservation for Christmas dinner, so the restaurant was quite busy that evening. Even so, our servers were attentive and provided a seamless experience from start to finish. We will definitely be keeping Niku X in mind for future special occasions and celebrations and look forward to returning.

We visited NIKU X during lunch and opted for the $35 add on which includes additional items like thick cut beef tongue, Australian wagyu strip loin and ribeye, Japanese A5 top sirloin rump and lobster. You can help yourself to the food bar or order from the chef. A few things that we liked from the chef were the Wagyu tallowed mashed potatoes, potato pave, and brussel sprouts. You definitely need items from the chef to cut thru the richness of the fatty Wagyu cuts. From the self serve bar, we liked the Japanese A5 Chefs Choice because of the fatty marbling. They also had crab legs, mussels, dim sum, skewers, yogurt, salad, green beans, and chicken wings. We also loved the egg tart and cheese tart over the dessert cakes in the enclosed casing. The cakes they had were tangerine cheesecake, chocolate cake, and earl gray and chocolate Swiss roll. I would say that the self serve bar was underwhelming. They did not have any other sashimi items during lunch except for yellowtail on a clam. The star items for me were the lobster, beef tongue, ribeye, egg and cheese tart. The ambiance was very nice. They had booths to seat large parties and the bar area was upscale. It's in downtown LA and we walked by an unsafe spot. Overall, glad we checked it out.

Ask the Community - Niku X

What the fee you charge for cancelling a reservation a few hours before the reservation? For a party of 4?

Yes, if you cancel too close to the reservation time. The timing varies by type of reservation. Generally cancelling more than 24 hours before will avoid fees. Amount of the fee depends on the experience you booked.

Can someone help me explain the menu price?my mom only eat can seafood , which menu is included the lobster, crab ... thanks in advance.

The menu is AYCE seafood and meat all included, so not just for meat or seafood alone. Lots of seafood options from lobster, crab legs, shrimp and signature dishes served by request. Definitely ok to bring someone who only eats seafood.

    Is there a hidden cost?

The cost is $159 per person for the full menu or $119 per person for a limited menu. Not all items were available when I was there last week (no oysters) and some items were limited to only one per person.

Is the quality of foods still good for a late reservation at 830pm? Do any selections run out by then?

No they have a schedule for everything. Crab legs lobster tails etc. Sometimes they run out but you just have to wait for next restock exp legs come out at 830 and at 915 something like that they have it posted by station

Is this omakase or a buffet? I see set menus, but also a ayce option. How is the meat quality?

It's a buffet, you choose what to eat. For me, it was over-rated. Not worth the money.

    Are there many vegan options?

    No.

    What is the dress code?

    Casual

What is your question? Or concern

    How much for 1?

It was about $174 with tax etc. very disappointed, save your money, go to Cafe Sierra at the Hilton

Do we make reaervation for tomorrow?

According to their website, you must make reservation. it is hard to get reservations. We booked in Jan for March only to have them change our reservation from $99 to the higher menu twice. @ hours before our reservation, they called to confirm… Read more

Is it one griddle per table We have 7 guests?

Maybe two because it's in the middle of table

How to accommodate party of 1 & can u dine at bar but how would meat get grilled?

You will get a table. No grilling at the bar.

When making reservations on their website can anyone tell me what the choices mean? One says steakhouse selection, Other selection , BBQ buffet... We just want the regular buffet selection ($99)..

There is a menu it's divided in three sections the most expensive is the third section for about $149 with tax about $175 for one person. Everything is included. It wasn't what I expected there was hardly any seafood available everyone kept asking… Read more

Does the Tomohawk and Seafood buffet come with the A5 wagyu you can order for the grill as well as the buffet wagyu you get from the buffet bar?

The seafood and A5 Wagyu come with both buffet options. The Tomohawk is only available with the Steakhouse option.

    Do you do walk in?

Depends on the availability, reservations is highly recommended

No one answered my call Im trying to make reservations?

    Go to their website instead

Are kids welcomed if so how much?

ADULTS AND KIDS ARE THE SAME PRICE. MY 2 COINS, PLEASE DONT BRING THE KIDS. I DID NOT SEE ANY KIDS WHEN I WAS THERE. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY SO LEAVE THE MUNCHKINS AT HOME.

From other reviews, the restaurant has parking in the back. * Meal: if you like seafood and KBBQ, look no further! 5 stars. * Service: friendly and pleasant. 4 stars. This restaurant came up on my IG feeds... looks awesome... we were not disappointed! The restaurant does not take reservations online. We came on a weeknight, found a street parking right infront and got seated right away (scored!) They have 4 tower sets: crew set ($109) serving 1-2 persons, chief set ($159.99) serving 3-4, master ($219.99) serving 4-5, captain ($299) serving 5-6. They also have a la carte, hot pot, etc. We had crew set which includes 1.4 lbs Manila clams, 2 whole shell oyster, large clams, shrimps, mussles, scallops, octopus, potatoes, served with korean ceviche, steam egg, pancake, spicy rice cakes, korean noodle soups. There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. The air ventilator is pretty good but I probably won't wear my must dry-clean clothes to dine here. Overall, Burnin' Shell did live up to its hype!

First off, the all you can eat is a set basket of food, meaning you get mussels, shrimp, clams, crawfish, potatoes, garlic noodles, corn and their daily basket. You cannot pick you are forced to get all these items. Whatever, not that big of a deal but really not great. The price is 38.99 a person, okay got it. It takes them so long...so long!! Just for us to order, a bit disappointed honestly. The food arrives decently fast. I dig in, Mama B is hungry y'all! The shrimp is cheap, okay. Small, fishy, rubbery Walmart type of shrimps. The corn plasticy, cheap and just disgusting. The potatoes, poorly cooked and under seasoned. The clams... no notes. Now at this point Mama B is scared y'all...I wasn't trying to get food poisoning. I'm disappointed, honestly the most flavourless seafood boil I have ever had the displeasure of eating. What's horrifying is the bill was $91...$91!!!! I feel like this math is just not mathing. I believe the tax is ridiculously high and possible charged for water cups? I really truly could've made a mean Walmart seafood boil for a cheaper price, that'd actually be seasoned... Not Mama B approved, go elsewhere.
