Food was absolutely on point! Well worth the meal ! Service was awesome - starting with the hostess Piper , to the bartender Joe - awesome customer service from our waiters Kevin and Ness who were constantly checking up and n us. And let's not forget Daniel who also took care of us. Apologies if I forgot to name a few more of the staff. - I'm heading into a food coma. Ambience was awesome and the rest of the staff was awesome.

Was so excited to come here!! The menu seemed incredible and we finally came here for our anniversary to justify the price point. We had a reservation at 7pm but arrived and 6:30. They werent busy so we still were able to be seated right away yay! Also, do valet parking, it's $16.50 for 2.5hrs with validation. Its cheaper than the $30 self park. We got a table with a grill and decided to splurge on the premium option to get the A5! The A5 wagyu was the best cut by far, but the striploin was also good. I do not recommend the australian sukiyaki - very mid. The wagyu hand roll was also super yummy, wish we got more than 1. We also enjoyed the grilled lobster a lot!! The other reviews are right - theres only so much wagyu u can eat lol. It got old really fast so we didnt eat as much as we thought we would. I did really love the snow crab available at the buffet though! It was delish. The miso corn, potato pave and seabass were also very yummy. Some lowlights - it didnt feel like there were that many options to choose from. A lot of the options on the menu seemed eh, and the buffet line didnt seem very fresh or look very appetizing. The king crab which i was so excited for, SUCKED. We ordered it a second time to make sure it wasnt just a bad batch and it was so bad. I dont know why but it was SO DRY ?!?!?! It was really not good at all. Such a waste and i was really dissapointed. The sukiyaki was meh, and also the australian yakisuki was very meh too. I also wish they had ice cream! There wasnt really anything refreshing to cleanse the pallet. The yuzu cheesecake was fire though - really glad we had room for dessert. The other cakes were just okay. The dan tat was amazing though! The only things that i felt were "worth" eating was the snow crab and A5 ribeye and striploin. Wish there were more interesting sides other than a basic miso soup, salad, dumplings or white rice which we thought would be a waste to order. The service here was great though, our grill was always changed and our server came by to check on us so we could order more. Still a yummy meal, the A5 and seafood is truly unlimited, but I probably couldnt justify coming back after trying it once.

Came here to celebrate my birthday! Every cut we tried was incredibly tender, buttery, and packed with flavor. The quality of the meat was outstanding, and everything melted in your mouth. The lobster and seafood were just as fresh and delicious, making the entire meal feel like such a great value. The strawberry lemonade was the perfect drink to pair with everything. It was refreshing and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. What truly made our experience unforgettable was ROMAN and KELLEY! They were so knowledgeable about every cut of meat, explained everything with genuine enthusiasm, and grilled each piece to absolute perfection. Every bite came off the grill exactly as it should: juicy, tender, and full of flavor. On top of that, they were incredibly friendly, attentive, and kind throughout the entire meal. They checked on us often, made sure we always had what we needed, and created such a welcoming and fun dining experience. Amazing food, amazing service, and an AYCE experience that's 100% worth every penny. We even got a free slice of cheesecake! On top of that, everything felt very clean and the vibes were wonderful for dinner. We can't wait to come back! Parking is valet ($16) or self parking ($30).

ELEVATED AYCE! 5.0 We discovered NIKU X, a contemporary Japanese yakiniku restaurant, during a recent trip to Los Angeles. We learned that Chubby Group, a U.S. based food-and-beverage holding company, operates a number of dining concepts and currently has over 60 multi-concept restaurants. Some of their concepts include Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House, The X Pot, Wagyu Master, Chubby Cattle BBQ and Chubby Skewers, just to name a few. Needless to say, with so many opportunities to dine at their restaurants near our home in the Bay Area, we decided to upgrade to a Chubby Club PLUS membership. We have found it to be well worth the perks, especially the special birthday benefits. NIKU X was only a 10-15 minute walk from our hotel, The Ritz-Carlton. Located inside The Wilshire Grand Center in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the restaurant is in a busy area. Use the main entrance for the Intercontinental Hotel and take the escalators to the second floor. Our early 5:00 p.m. reservation was perfect, as the restaurant was not crowded, and we were seated at a very large and quiet table. We ordered the Premium Wagyu selection, a few of the chef's signature dishes and visited the buffet area a couple of times, mainly for the crab legs. Next time, I would probably stay away from some of the heavier items, like the Potato Pavé, which was quite filling. Our two main servers were incredibly friendly and offered endless suggestions on the meat selections and side dishes. The restaurant's policy is to cook the first round of meat for guests, but we were fortunate to have exceptionally attentive servers who cooked just about every round for us. Of course, they can only do this when they are not too busy. As the other tables began filling up, we, or shall I say, my Master Chef Tony, started taking over the grill. We love going to AYCE establishments, but I realize now that I simply can't eat as much as I used to. We do, however, have a great time selecting what we think will be fantastic, and fortunately, everything we ordered was!

We were looking for a place to CELEBRATE an early Bday and 4th of July celebration around LA and I searched on YELP and Niku X appeared. Then, I realized that they are part of the Chubby Group and that was even better since we have membership! WEEKEND LUNCH: $45 for members and $55 for non members. OPTIONAL & Additional $35 for the AYCE Wagyu and Lobster tails. There's an UNLIMITED all you can eat buffet as well and you can also just choose to have the buffet only with or without the grill at the table... AUSTRALIAN WAGYU and A5 JAPANESE WAGYU were our favorite meat selection... CRAB LEGS: 10/10 Fresh and warm... FAVORITE SIDES: Corn, Shishito peppers, Brussel sprouts... PRO TIP: Try grilling the Lobster tails for an enhanced Experience! SERVICE: A+ service by Roman and the entire team there which were all guys were awesome! SAVE room for the EGG TARTS!!! BIRTHDAY DESSERT PLATTER: available upon request! I told them I saw a picture of it on YELP ;) ROCK ON NIKU X !!!!!!!

Good but over-rated. A very plush and chic restaurant but I expected much better quality of food. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I expected great at this price tag (especially when you're getting and cooking your own food). It was a nice splurge to try but wouldn't recommend it for the food and value. Service was really good, staff was attentive with refilling drinks. Note: parking will be like $30 with validation.

Not going to lie - we had initial concerns when we realized Niku is NOT in the hotel, but instead was outside in the back behind the valet area. Our concerns were further heightened when we reached the front entrance, as it was giving "low-budget all-you-can-eat" and not what we saw on Yelp. We were also quite surprised to realize that half of the restaurant allows for self-grilling... that was not the vibe we were going for, it was quite smokey, and I was wearing white on white. However! We were moved to the other section with pretty decor, comfy booth seating, where they bring out ready-made skewers to the table - everything turned around from there. Lobster, wagyu, sashimi, caviar, and so much more - YUM! We made sure to get all the best stuff to maximize our experience. We had to order in small orders, which wasn't a problem at all. Everyone was so attentive, informative, efficient and helpful. I appreciated the service, for sure. We ended up parking in the lot across the street so we could walk a bit and explore the area. We also went up to the Spire, which had a nice vibe and stellar views.

A year ago, we came here for lunch, and it didn't disappoint. This time, we decided to try dinner, and it was a completely different experience--in the best way. The selection and amount of meat and seafood were amazing, and everything we tried was delicious. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff throughout our visit. The restaurant is also spacious, making it easy to move around and enjoy the buffet comfortably. We'll definitely be coming back!

Celebrated my birthday here this past Saturday with my family, and we had an amazing time! We really enjoyed the food here and everything we got were fresh and delicious. The snow crab legs were definitely a family favorite, and don't skip the yuzu cheesecake for dessert--it was the perfect way to end the meal. They also have a good selection of different drinks - cherry blooms has been my favorite mixed drink from here. The service was excellent as well. Huge shoutout to our server, Roman, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. He really helped make our birthday celebration special. We'll definitely be back!

I had a great time here to celebrate my birthday!! Service was amazing, they were totally hands on, refilling our glasses with water, replacing the bbq pan, giving us extra napkins, very friendly and inviting!! The meat were delicious!! We do get 2 hours here and at this location, your last call to order is (if I remember correctly) 20 or 40 minutes before your 2 hours is up. And the clock starts as soon as you checked in, if not that as soon as you're seated for sure. It's very pretty inside. Even though we are here for the meat, I did notice the dessert section is not just where you can just get up and get it, you have to go to the dessert counter which is right by hostess stand and you let them know what you want and they will get it for you. My favorite is the Yuzu Cheesecake. Also, as mentioned we are here for the meat, I still have to acknowledge that their Self-serve station is a bit limited, but still good BECAUSE they had Steamed Lobsters and Crab legs there to choose from, if you are into seafood. Also...because I'm only 5'2, there were some of the items I have a harder time seeing. And also, this restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the Wilshire Grand Center / InterContinental Hotel Building Los Angeles Downtown yep...it is Valet parking, the restaurant will validate with discounted pricing (I posted the regular prices in Yelp here). Overall, the experience itself was great!! We were soooooo stuffed!!

Niku X is part of the Chubby Group. Knowing this information, I didn't have high expectations for this place. The chain of restaurants that are involved in this group are mediocre at best. They are selling a fantasy of a high end experience while providing low quality service and food. The menu at Niku X is quite overwhelming. I didn't know where to start so the server basically ordered and recommended everything to try. There was so much going on from the appetizers that were being served, the meat being cooked on the grill, and the open buffet of food. Literally nothing stood out to me. I think the appetizers were better than the japanese bbq itself. For $150 per person, I expected at least quality dinnerware. The plates themselves are PLASTIC. Please give me a break. I do not recommend Niku X. The high price point does not correlate with the service or quality of food at all. I would not support this business.

Just celebrated a birthday here yesterday! We had the different cuts of beef, oxtail potstickers, miso sea bass wrap, potato pave, wagyu rice, wagyu tomato stew, big head prawn, and assorted fruit. The cuts of beef really stood out to us because they were so tasty! Roman and Kelley helped create such a unique dining experience for us. Both recommended and took turns to help us cook the beef. We tried cooking our own, and it just wasn't the same! They are so knowledgable about the beef cuts and cooking process. We ended up with delicious, juicy bites that melted in our mouths each time they were on the grill! On top of that, they were really friendly and attentive to our needs. They checked in on us and made sure we got everything we needed. Excellent service! Overall, the food, service, and AYCE experience were incredible! For parking, valet is $16.50 and self is $30 at the hotel off 7th St.

Had a lovely dinner at Niku X's seafood and A5 yakiniku BBQ steak buffet. They offer an impressive selection of fresh seafood, specialty dishes, cooked items, and even dim sum. There are some meats you can get yourself at the buffet and some you order with your server. Kevin was super attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that our experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Ask the Community - Niku X

What the fee you charge for cancelling a reservation a few hours before the reservation? For a party of 4?

Yes, if you cancel too close to the reservation time. The timing varies by type of reservation. Generally cancelling more than 24 hours before will avoid fees. Amount of the fee depends on the experience you booked.

Can someone help me explain the menu price?my mom only eat can seafood , which menu is included the lobster, crab ... thanks in advance.

The menu is AYCE seafood and meat all included, so not just for meat or seafood alone. Lots of seafood options from lobster, crab legs, shrimp and signature dishes served by request. Definitely ok to bring someone who only eats seafood.

    Is there a hidden cost?

The cost is $159 per person for the full menu or $119 per person for a limited menu. Not all items were available when I was there last week (no oysters) and some items were limited to only one per person.

Is the quality of foods still good for a late reservation at 830pm? Do any selections run out by then?

No they have a schedule for everything. Crab legs lobster tails etc. Sometimes they run out but you just have to wait for next restock exp legs come out at 830 and at 915 something like that they have it posted by station

Is this omakase or a buffet? I see set menus, but also a ayce option. How is the meat quality?

It's a buffet, you choose what to eat. For me, it was over-rated. Not worth the money.

    Are there many vegan options?

No. Not many. VERY meat and seafood focused.

    What is the dress code?

    Casual

We made a reservation for tonight at 5pm and just trying to confirm before we make the 1.5 hour drive. It's under the last name Baker?

What is your question? Or concern

    How much for 1?

It was about $174 with tax etc. very disappointed, save your money, go to Cafe Sierra at the Hilton

Do we make reaervation for tomorrow?

According to their website, you must make reservation. it is hard to get reservations. We booked in Jan for March only to have them change our reservation from $99 to the higher menu twice. @ hours before our reservation, they called to confirm…

Is it one griddle per table We have 7 guests?

Maybe two because it's in the middle of table

How to accommodate party of 1 & can u dine at bar but how would meat get grilled?

You will get a table. No grilling at the bar.

When making reservations on their website can anyone tell me what the choices mean? One says steakhouse selection, Other selection , BBQ buffet... We just want the regular buffet selection ($99)..

There is a menu it's divided in three sections the most expensive is the third section for about $149 with tax about $175 for one person. Everything is included. It wasn't what I expected there was hardly any seafood available everyone kept asking…

Does the Tomohawk and Seafood buffet come with the A5 wagyu you can order for the grill as well as the buffet wagyu you get from the buffet bar?

The seafood and A5 Wagyu come with both buffet options. The Tomohawk is only available with the Steakhouse option.

    Do you do walk in?

Depends on the availability, reservations is highly recommended

No one answered my call Im trying to make reservations?

    Go to their website instead

Are kids welcomed if so how much?

ADULTS AND KIDS ARE THE SAME PRICE. MY 2 COINS, PLEASE DONT BRING THE KIDS. I DID NOT SEE ANY KIDS WHEN I WAS THERE. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY SO LEAVE THE MUNCHKINS AT HOME.

    Are the crab legs cold?

    Yes, they are cold

How much does the Sashimi, A5 Wagyu, King Crab, and Lobster costs?

So, my dinner was $140 each and I got all of the above, we also opted for the full-service.

    Is this place a buffet?

    Yes

This place is a gem! First of all the place is big and family friendly, they even have happy hour!…read moreThe service is friendly and feels like your tias serving you a meal when you're over for a visit. :) Okay now to the food ,The best for last... drools ** the food is AMAZING!!! The flavors, the presentation, the freshness, the quality and the price are all there! We've gotten the mojarra, the garlic shrimp, the ceviche de pescado and the tacos, even the typical Mexican dishes and breakfasts! Flavor is always there in each bite. Grateful to have you guys in my neighborhood !

Fresh and Flavorful Seafood I've visited this seafood spot…read moretwice recently, and both times the food was fresh and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was especially good, with generously sized shrimp and a tasty cocktail sauce. My order had 14 shrimp, which felt like a fair portion for the price. It came with three tostadas, though only one hot sauce packet was included. That's a minor detail, but I would have appreciated extra packets. Good Value Seafood isn't cheap, but the prices here seem reasonable. They also offer weekday lunch specials that make items like the shrimp cocktail an even better deal. The campechana is another solid option and worth trying. Small Neighborhood Spot The restaurant itself is small, but there always seem to be customers inside, which says a lot. I also like that they decorate for holidays...it gives the place a welcoming neighborhood feel. Pickup Experience I've only ordered takeout, and my food has been ready quickly both times. Service was decent overall, although there was a brief moment during my last visit where I wasn't acknowledged right away while waiting for my order. Overall If you're craving a good shrimp cocktail or campechana, this local spot is worth checking out. Fresh seafood, fair prices, and a convenient neighborhood location make it a place I'll be visiting again.

We visit Water Grill DTLA frequently and always leave completely satisfied. The service is…read moreextraordinary. They have the VERY BEST Oysters Rockerfeller in Los Angeles and the oysters and clams on the half shell are always fresh and tasty. The King Salmon Roll is exceptional and the cookie and ice cream desert amazing. If you are lucky enough to be seated where Chris is your server, you will feel like both family and royalty. We eat out at least once a week and, of all the fine restaurants we visit, Chris is possibly the best server in the Los Angeles area.

We had dinner at Water Grill Santa Monica (Ocean Ave) on April 19, and overall it was an easy 5/5…read moreexperience. We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.

If you have a minute, I'd like to share a story:…read more I've been meaning to try this place for years, ever since I read their opening in the LA Times. In the article, they mentioned that they had a sandwhich in homage to Pok Pok, a legendary Thai place in Portland that was famous for their fish sauce chicken wings. Unfortunately, this sandwhich was only offered on the weekday lunch menu, which stymied my efforts to try it. In my mind, what I was expecting was a piece of fried chicken coated in the same sauce that Pok Pok was known for, turned into sandwhich form. The "Bring back pok pok" is not that. Which was a disappointment for all of 10 seconds. While the sandwhich was not what I was expecting, it was still excellent on its own merits. It's a fried chicken sandwhich but instead of lettuce and tomatoes, they've used some sort of dried pepper spread, thai basil (I think) and jalopenos). It reminded me more of a bahn mi. It's a flavor profile that works well. I tried a piece of my friends fried catfish, and it was similarly good. The catish was flaky without being dry, and not only was the breading well seasoned, but it was still crispy at the end of the meal. The only thing a little underwhelming was the cornbread. It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel like it did anything noteworthy, and ours could have used a bit more butter (or maybe some more salt). Our server was great, though it was easy for him since we were the only customers for a long while! Still he was easy to talk to and I appreciated how he kept stopping by to fill up our water (they use tiny glasses). The inside has nice "upscale casual" vibes. If I worked in downtown, I could see myself coming here after work. Overall, a pleasant surprise.

Had me at Happy Hour @joyce_dtla…read more What a lovely place for happy hour! Really great southern food! Service was wonderful and loved that it was dog friendly with an outdoor patio. Crystal and Ricardo were both great with delicious recommendations and lovely personalities that enhanced our overall experience! Our dog even got a dog treat and a water bowl . Happy hour menu was satisfying! We loved everything we ordered except the fried hen was slightly salty that day, but it happens. The skin had good seasoning and loved that it was light! The broiled oysters came with toast and this satisfying gravy sauce that reminder me of French onion soup! They had the best hush puppies I have tried. The Mac and Cheese was solid. My drank was very well made! Would recommend!
