There's a fair amount of seating and each table has a small container of chili oil that you don't get with the takeout. The portions are massive and a really good price. It's become like a ritual for us now: have an enjoyable Saturday night out ( with all the necessary precautions ), then Sunday lunch here to round out the weekend. We usually get the ribeye phở, a non-phở plate (like one of their bánh mì or bún plates), an appetizer or two, and a couple of their many options for drinks (milk tea, bubble tea, smoothies, viet iced coffee) and share each between the two of us, assaulting our taste buds with a symphony of Vietnamese flavor. Mind you, I'm an American-born Vietnamese, so I cannot speak with much authority towards "authenticity" and whatnot, but I have had my fair share of Viet food tours around Chicago, LA (Little Saigon), Vietnam proper, and of course all of the home-cooked meals I had growing up, and I can tell you this place hits all the right notes for me: plenty of nostalgia without anything that's "way out there" as to be challenging to non-Vietnamese tastes. I plan on making my way through all of their menu options before long. The owner is usually there and she's incredibly attentive to our needs. It's a self-service establishment, but she keeps it conversational and intimate enough as to still feel like you're being taken care of like at a traditional restaurant. First time visiting as heard great reviews from friends. So decided, let's try it out. We arrived and found street parking easily, even for it being a Thursday after 7p. WIN! Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed it had an ordering kiosk and this brought on a big sighfrom me, as there were 4 people in my party and since we have never been here before - we had to view the menu huddled around this machine (only 2 available) and other patrons were coming in to dine in as well or order for carry out. We got through it as quickly as possible - app, entrees and drinks, picked a table and just waited. It wasn't too long and we heard a name called from the counter / kitchen door. Tip - give a simple name when ordering (pronunciation of name may be butchered when called out). We first received our drinks- Delicious Brown Sugar Matcha - sweet but perfect amount of sweetness. Taro and Coconut Milk Tea - loved it !!! Matcha Milk Tea - definitely order again. Our app came and my dad ate it up!! He loved the peanut sauce!! Nem Nuong Spring Rolls with Vietnamese Grilled Sausage - my little one said the meat tasted like Filipino Longanisa (sausage) and pleasant surprise was the crunch of a rolled egg roll wrapper - crisp to perfection and gave a great overall texture. That is something new to me and we even ordered one to go. Finally, our Pho was called to pickup. Big bowls and we were hungry. Tom Yum Seafood- great Broth flavor. Something new a never had it as Pho. I've had it as side soup But not as big a bowl for pho. It was savory and the shrimp and squid were perfect and filling. My noodles though, too mushy as picked rice noodles. There were other choices, if a next time, I'll try something else. Chicken and Egg Pho - it was tasty and alot of chicken. The noodles again though - too mushy. Seafood Pho - my dad found it good. He did need to add a little something for taste. But he adds salt to everything lol. Came here with my girlfriend and we have decided this is the best Pho in Chicago. The flavors of the broth are true to authentic Pho (something we found was missing from all other places we've tried) and the portions are very large. The pho had all the right ingredients and came with all the toppings you would expect from a quality pho joint. We got the mango and watermelon smoothies and both were fresh and delicious. Amazing food and incredibly friendly owner! MK Noodle is now our favorite spot in Chicago for casual Vietnamese food. You order at a kiosk near the entrance, which is efficient. We ordered pho, spring rolls, porkchops, and a bahn mi. The pho had a great base with lots of flavor and the beef was delicious! The porkchops were better than all the other lemongrass porkchops we've had in the Chicagoland area. The shrimp spring rolls came with a great peanut sauce and were a good portion size, and the beef bahn mi was tasty with tender, well-flavored meat. Everything was fairly priced but our interaction with the owner was what made our experience stand out. She was so sweet and told us she's only been open for two years but has 25 years of experience running a restaurant. We wish her success at MK Noodle and will definitely be back! read more

Hot sauce on request...spicy but not blow-your-top off and the lady asked if I wanted more. On top of it, they added a small bag of fries with each sandwich. Just the right amount. Great customer service. Generous portions. Fair prices. Plethora of drink options. I will say my only gripe is the ordering process which isn't very intuitive. There are kiosks to the left where you place your order. Not your traditional walk in and they seat you/take your order right when you sit down kind of Vietnamese restaurant. I would suggest for them to place visible signage where to order. In addition, you're supposed to bus your own table which is totally fine but again, visible signage around the restaurant would be helpful. The order is very sweet and proud of her food as she should be. I'm from SF and I've had pho up and down San Jose and I'll say their food is on par with San Jose Vietnamese restaurants. So happy that an authentic Vietnamese restaurant opened in Lakeview so we don't always have to make the trek to Argyle all the time! I've gotten takeout from here probably 3x so far, and it has never disappointed. The pho broth flavors is on point, and each order comes with a generous portion of noodles and toppings - probably more than you would get in a typical Argyle restaurant! The prices are reflective of the location, but that is to be expected. In addition to pho, they have other Vietnamese comfort food as well like bahn mi and my husband's favorite dish - Bahn Xeo, which is a savory crepe-like dish. There are also some Thai dishes on the menu. We haven't tried the bahni mi or the other stir fry type noodles yet, but would definitely get the Bahn Xeo again. This place is amazing the customer service is amazing when "Mama" is making drinks and handing out orders you know you'll be in for a good time. The food is great for me and my girlfriend we are vegans and have options that make our experience so much better. We recommend the vegetarian pho and the vegetarian bon mi. Here's the thing about a mandatory tip where it's built into the bill. It's for the service. This place, you order at a self-serve kiosk, you pull your own drink from a cooler, you bus your own table and put the dirties in a tray. If you need more napkins or more water, you go get it. You even pour your own beer(!) which I don't believe is exactly legal. Basically, I'm tipping someone clandestinely to say my name where I have to walk up and get my own food. If you are trying to offset paying your cooking staff a living wage or something, that's a crappy biz model or, at the very least, be upfront about it. To automatically add a tip when doing nothing that deserves a tip is shady AF. read more

Honestly woah this place is amazing. I grew up in Garden Grove, which is known as Little Saigon in Southern California, and I can say without a doubt that the pho here is comparable to the great pho I had out there! I love the vibe here. It's so chill, and there was a lady up front who was so so kind and attentive. I am so incredibly happy I finally found a great pho place in Chicago!! The service was great, the restaurant and bathroom were super clean, and the location is also convenient for me. I had the pho steak & brisket and the broth was rich and flavorful.
