Dr is attending 2-3 / week and kind and spending time with customers patiently before getting any glasses. (Highly recommended) you can make it by appointment with friendly staff members. The pair he had was over 10 years old and boy oh boy, did we finally end that adventure. Dear Mr. Lin, I had doubts at your selection from the beginning when you kept on showing Matte frames. Matte frames were a no no, I was wondering why he kept on selecting this type. When he took a pair of glasses out to show us dust resistant and blue lighting, it turns out... that was his personal frame and it was matte ! ... it was not "smudge" resistant. Continuing my habit of only posting reviews when experiences are either exceptional or so terrible that I feel a public warning is necessary, I'm back here to share thoughts in the EXCEPTIONAL category. I called MK2 to inquire about a contact lens fitting. Rachel, who couldn't be kinder and more efficient, was able to get me an appointment quickly. While some optometrists don't seem to take the time to puzzle through patient challenges, Dr. Jacqueline Chang makes every effort to problem solve and explore all available options. She's exceedingly open, thoughtful, and articulate in her approach. Her bedside manner is patient, professional, and warm. When I inquired about the reasons fitting contacts can be challenging for certain patients, she elaborated freely with specifics that helped me to understand how contacts are meant to fit on the eye, how they are constructed, and why they don't always work well for certain people. In 2019, it seems typical to encounter medical professionals who feel so much pressure to rush their appointments, that valuable information is missed and diagnoses and solutions can often miss the mark, leaving the patient feeling stranded. But Dr. Chang beautifully blends efficiency with thoroughness, all within the context of a genuine and quite lovely rapport with her patients. I have been a client at facilities that were shiny, sleek and super high tech, but found the staff and doctors sorely lacking. But MK2, while not ultra high tech nor brand spanking new, is clean and spacious and won me over with their kind greetings, efficiency, clear communication, excellent customer service and a talented, highly knowledgeable optometrist who represents the gold standard for eye doctors. Went to MK2 for an eye exam for both reading and distance glasses. Dr. Chang took her time and really fine tuned my vision for both prescriptions. As an artist that does very detailed work, my close up sight is extremely important. As for distance, my need was for archery (as vision is fine for day to day needs and travel). I ended up choosing Suki Titanium glasses which are light and well made for distance, and a much less expensive frame for reading that was covered under my insurance. Dr. Chang, Haren, and Rachel were excellent and all helped in choosing frames, coatings, etc.. MK2 Optical is highly recommended! Great service and expertise. Came here to select my first pair of glasses with my mom on a Saturday evening. The staff here is very attentive and they probably have more than needed. Funny enough, all the staff members wore glasses! Since it was my first time getting a pair of glasses, I had a lot of questions and wanted to try on as many as possible, which the staff totally understood. They were very patient and helpful, making recommendations and keeping the options organized. They also have a printer and copier in the back so if you ever need to back up of your documents and prescription, feel free to ask. I was in and out of there in less than half an hour! read more

Rachel from MK2 was super helpful and accommodating, suggesting certain frames based on characteristics of glasses I was looking for. Half of my family have eyewear from MK2, up until I find out that their aftercare service is very awful, or I should say, they don't have any. Now, the rest of my family will not go there, and I suggest everyone not to go unless you are 100% sure your eyewear is not going to have any problem the moment you step out of the store. Kelvin, one of the staff there should be an actor, such a waste for him to work at an optical store. He is such a sweet talk before I pay for my glasses, but when my glasses have minor scratches and return to the store, he looks like a different person, very impatient. I'm not going to the store asking for free repair, but before I say I'm willing to pay for the repair, he starts to blame me did not take care of the glasses, and they don't cover any repair once I get out of their store. I did not have my glasses repair, I rather throw them away and get a new pair then stay with this store. read more

I've gone everywhere from mom and pop shops to large chains in multiple states, but after 11 years of searching, I was never able to find glasses that fit me -- until I came to MK2 Optical. There was no wait time, plenty of safety precautions taken, and amazingly friendly and knowledgable staff with a lovely selection of frames. I've never had a more positive experience glasses shopping. Kevin, in particular, provided me with excellent service. I came in not knowing anything other than that I wanted glasses that fit me better than the Ray-Bans I had purchased a year ago at a Lenscrafters in Midtown. When I came back from my exam (quick and efficient!), he had a tray of glasses in a variety of styles that I genuinely liked all ready to go. I was extremely impressed with his ability to intuit the aesthetic I preferred from the little information I provided him. He also patiently and kindly answered all of my questions, provided extremely courteous and professional service, and clearly explained why my previous glasses didn't fit (and what to look for next time). He even adjusted my Ray-Bans for me (for free!) despite not purchasing them at MK2 so I wouldn't have to go out the door with ill-fitting glasses until I could pick up my new set. Not only that, but after I explained I needed the glasses as soon as possible, Kevin expedited the process to only a 4 business day turnaround. Can't recommend MK2 enough (especially if you're looking for Asian-fit glasses)! And if you go, see if Kevin is working to help you find the best pair for you!! Dr. Chang was amazing in educating me on my glasses and contact RX and how I should alternate between my contacts with glasses if I work in front of computer for more than 8 hours. He was patient and address all my questions including working with me on my insurance & out of pocket expense. While this Centre St. location is still closed due to the COVID 19 pandemic, I received an email from MK2 two days ago, offering curbside service at their main lab location at 38 East Broadway. Lucky me, as I had damaged the frame on the pair of glasses I use the most. I emailed them back, explained my situation, and Ken [who is currently working curbside with his lovely sister at the 38 E. Broadway location] replied almost immediately. He advised me to come to that location and he would pop the lenses out and place them a new frame in about 10 minutes. Sure enough, that's exactly what he did, and I'm now happily wearing my glasses again in a new and rather cool-looking frame. I can't say enough how friendly and professional these folks are. I've been wearing lens for nearsightedness for many years now and like to give a different eyewear store the opportunity for my business. The good reviews for MK2 brought me here but I was tremendously disappointed by the poor customer service here. I called in advance to make an appointment and asked them to check if they can accept my insurance. The customer rep on the call said he will not explain my insurance to me unless he sees me show up at the store. What was his excuse? It'd cause him great inconvenience to explain over the phone. Alright, one bad apple. I still wanted to give MK2 a chance to redeem. I arrived at the store and witnessed a customer there arguing with the employee for "screwing up" something. Ignored it. My customer rep had a look at my insurance and said: It doesn't cover anything for you. Well, why couldn't you have told me that over the phone? "My old eyewear store said my insurance can provide a subsidy, can you please check again?" "Then why don't you go back to your old store?" he said abruptly and walked away. Wow, appalling manners and disgusting attitude. I almost dropped my glasses. So I did. I left and walked 2 blocks to my good, old eyewear shop. read more

Fast, professional, excellent service. Very modern clean store. The sales rep was quite knowledgeable, and did everything they said they would. It was amazingly quick service, apparently because they have their own lens makers, and at a very reasonable price. Plus they take Amex. I live downtown in SoHo, about 7 blocks away. I was looking to replace my scratched reading glass lenses with new ones. Every eyeglass place I went to in the neighborhood quoted hundreds of dollars to replace my lenses. I walked in into MK2 Optical around 2:30 pm. A polite sales person answered my questions, and immediately checked my prescription with a machine and quoted $70, including ARC (anti-reflective coating). They were ready to pick up same day by 6:00 pm as promised. The lenses perfectly fit my old frames. No hassles, no mistakes, no wasted time. All at a very reasonable price. It doesn't get any easier than this. I will recommend them to all my friends. read more

I went in for my annual eye exam here for the 1st time today, and was pleasantly surprised & happy with their extremely courteous & helpful service. It's great that this place is open until 6.30pm on Sunday. actually called them at 5pm Sunday and they had availability (flexible, just arrive before 6pm!). They also informed me they are open till 7pm weekdays, which would also be convenient for me to go to after the workday for any follow-up/order pick-ups. The staff was very patient when it seemed my insurance member ID was not the correct one (I got it mixed up), and offered to help call them tomorrow (next business day). They only charged me for the eye exam (as the "deposit"), while still helping me order 3 month contact lens supply -- they'll figure out any reimbursement later instead of charging me in full right away. The optometrist was professional, friendly, knowledgeable. Efficient check-up. Even without using my insurance plan today, the contact lens fitting/eye exam was just $85, half the price of Cohen's / Lenscrafters ($150-$165 full price). Perhaps these other chains tend to feature MD Ophthalmologists and thus it charge more, but for my needs MK2 optical worked out. Definitely will go back here again! read more

3.5*** I first came here with the recommendation of my dad, who got me a pair of $$$ titanium glasses using insurance. Unfortunately, I'm just 2-3 years, said $$$ frame has color rubbed off it. Somehow this frame was also accidentally bent by me...so Dad recommended that for my vision benefits to come back here and maybe they'll fix my glasses while I'm there. Last time they were super friendly with my Dad because he had purchased over $1k worth of glasses from them. Made the long trek from the Bronx for this sole reason. Came in, staff was friendly. Showed them my benefits and told them that I just want a pair of glasses that's covered by insurance. There were numerous attempts to upsell, which after the 3rd time of refusal, they completely changed their attitude from super nice to just okay. There were only a few that was almost completely covered. After choosing one, they somehow mentioned that they were out of network...at this point I was a bit annoyed. I had called them before I came out and they had checked my insurance to say I'm covered...anyway, the girl who helped me had to get the okay from her boss to give me "in-network" benefits. Now onto payment. I had asked if they take credit cards, they said yes, yet when I went to pay for the copay and the difference of the frames, they said they had a $25 min. By now, I was really annoyed. I really wish they'd be more clear with their policies. Even worse was that their eye doctor wasn't that great at all. She kept mentioning about how lashes are really dirty and bad for my eyes. Ok, I came in for an eye consultation, not for you to keep picking at me. The only redeeming factor was that the boss managed to fix my bent glasses. Hurray for that! But eh probably find another place. read more
