Others with me tried all the different types of empanadas, plantains, rotisserie chicken, and quesadillas. I sampled some of almost everything and everything I tasted was all good. The chimichurri sauce that came with the empanadas was on point, probably he best I've had. Make sure to save room for dessert, too. I am in town helping with my mom's medical office and since I am the Yelp girl back home, I was in charge of finding a place for lunch to get back to the office. I've seen MMMQR a few times and always been intrigued so I sent around the menu and I placed the order. It was probably easier than ordering online, which is pretty damn easy. I had six meals with various side dishes and sauces. The lady behind the counter, when I went to pick up, was very throughout. I really appreciated that. Now the food. Hot damn, get the chicken. Don't let your eyes wonder to the taco side. Just get the half chicken and some sides and be happy as a clam. (hah joke. because were at the coast) That chicken was fall off the bone good with plenty of moisture left in it. Perfectly seasoned too. I dipped some in the garlic sauce. Honestly we come from a very populated area and love ethics food in DC. We moved down here a year ago and never tried this place until today. The food flavor was good! The chicken is delicious and the mild sauce is OMG GOOD! The beans had little to no flavor and yucca seem like a joke as far as portion size. As paying adult price and get the same portion as a kid meal was comical. The serving size for each meal was very small.. Beware of the "family" chicken meal. Two whole chickens and the sides are so small that only two people can share. $80 of food and it comes with 4 little pieces of yuca and four half pieces of plantains. The sides are all single servings sides you would think the sides would be large sides if it's the "family" meal. How is that supposed to feed a family with single servings?! Terrible I literally could have ordered 4 half chicken with sides and it would have been half the price of what I paid for. Had I known the sides would be small I would have done that. We went there last night for the second time in a week's vacation, and are trying to figure out how to fit in one more visit before we leave town! The food is prepared with care by Walter and Susana, the owners and proprietors. Peruvian flavorings make this place stand out from any other restaurant on the coast. I have had the most succulent roasted chicken here. Perfectly fried yucca, and plantain are also "not to be missed" staples. My husband had the beef Milanese sandwich, while my son had beef and chicken tacos. The tacos are served street style with soft corn tortilla, lime, and fresh cilantro. So good! They recommend the ice cream at the local creamery next door, but DO NOT miss dessert here! Susana makes the best flan I have ever tasted. It is so worth it! And the alfahores are amazing! I've probably spelled that wrong, but they are an amazing shortbread type sandwich cookie with a dulce de leche style filling. I can not recommend this friendly, hospitable eatery enough. I wanted to give them a 3.5... rounded up to 4 as there were more positives than negatives. We were staying nearby and decided to come and check this place out based on the great reviews. We used to have a spot we loved in New York for Peruvian chicken and, since moving to London, haven't had a chance to check out any of the London Peruvian spots. The space is newly renovated and clean with some booths and tables, enough seating for around 30 or so. When we arrived on a Friday during lunch time, there were about 10 people in the restaurant. We had a look at the menu fully intending to stick to the chicken but then a couple of things caught our eye; the special of the day (chicken vegetable soup - $6.00) and their homemade burritos and tacos. We love tacos and burritos but at a Peruvian place? We were a bit skeptical. However, when the diner in front of us ordered four tacos, we decided to give them a whirl. We might have been a bit too overeager and ended up ordering 2 tacos (carnitas and chicken, though they also had beef - $2.00/each), chicken vegetable soup and a half chicken ($10.55). The half chicken came with 2 sides and we decided on rice and beans. Black and white beans were offered and we went with the white. Our tacos came out first and they shared there was some kind of mix-up so they had given us three tacos! Now that's super nice service. The tacos came dressed with onion and cilantro (how we love them to be dressed) and the option of a medium or hot salsa. We opted for the hot and you could tell it was homemade. The medium seemed to be a salsa verde from seeing another diner's order but we didn't try it so don't know how it tasted. The hot salsa could have used a bit more salt but had a good amount of heat that went well with the tacos. You could tell that the tortillas were homemade, which was a big plus. That being said, these weren't the best tortillas we'd ever had. The meats were well seasoned but just a tad bit dry; though, a bit of the salsa helped immensely. Overall, a really good taco - especially for North Carolina! The half chicken was moist and had a nice blend of spices rubbed onto the skin. The rice and beans were pretty forgettable and a bit bland. Though, a bit of the green sauce perked it right up. The chicken was definitely the star - as it should be! Surprisingly, my favorite of the meal was definitely the special for the day. The vegetable chicken soup came with chunks of carrot, celery, potato, chicken (duh) and half a cob of corn. This was such a homey dish and very satisfying. There was a slight sweetness to the soup, probably from the corn and carrots along with a chicken-y broth that you could tell was from simmering and not store-bought chicken broth. The soup was reminiscent of the Colombian ajiaco. Overall, a nice place for a quick lunch bite! There aren't a ton of options in the area that aren't touristy and you can tell this is a locals place. From the clientele to the genuine care reflective in their food and service, if you're looking for something other than fried seafood... this is the spot! read more

Just had dinner at Mmm Qué Rico! And just as it's name means ´Hmmm so good!' It definitely is! I had the lomo saltado paired with a fabré malbec glass of wine, and my daughter had the rotisserie chicken, they were both delicious and the chicken was truly finger lick-in' good! We were vacationing in Myrtle Beach from Los Angeles and we drove from Myrtle Beach as a last minute decision because we didn't know there was a Peruvian restaurant there and let me tell you it was so worth the drive! I am Peruvian and I am not exaggerating when I say the chicken is just as good as back home! Kudos to Walter, the owner, who came by our table to ensure our dinner was perfect!
