What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? I'd love to have a place like this back home - but as long as it's here, we'll keep coming back when we return! The whole family loved it. Service was wonderful, as good as the food, which defies description. The chicken empanadas are just ... Out of this world. Crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, the sauces were perfect flavor compliments. The chicken was spiced just right and tender, the tacos (pork) came with cilantro and onion and were fantastic. I visit North Carolina about five times a year and have always driven past this place not knowing what it was, boy was I missing out. Some of the best South American cuisine I've ever had (and I'm spoiled with South Florida food)! Wonderful atmosphere and the owner and his staff are wonderfully helpful. This is a great find behind the Creamery. We stopped by and had a little lunch. We were a little gun shy about trying this food, so we stayed safe and ordered the chicken, fries and coleslaw. I did brave it and had the pineapple cola. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and I wished I could have had more. The fries, well they're fries and they were fine. The cole slaw was delicious and the pineapple cola is surprisingly delicious. I didn't touch the hot sauce, because, well I don't want to go there. The most memorable was the chicken and we'll be coming back for more. The lunch was reasonably priced and the food was so good. Next time, I'll venture to try more. read more

We have driven many times and finally decided to try! This was the best decision we could have made for supper. Five out of 6 of us got the 1/4 piece of chicken with plantains or rice and beans. The chicken was so flavorful and delicious! I agree with another commenter who said it is the best roasted chicken on the Grand Strand. I had the burrito and had to try the taco. I got beef for both and can't wait to try the chicken and the pork ones. Definitely a can't miss when in the area! And we can't wait to come back! P.S. Had the lunch special today ($6.99) which was the 1/4 chicken with 2 sides and a 12oz drink. For my 2 sides I got Peruvian beans, which tasted like white beans, and they were very good. I also got the rice, which was okay. I also ordered a side of plantains ($2.75) which were also very good. My chicken was pretty good, but it was a little dry. I would definitely go again, and try the Carne Asada sandwich. The owner described it to me, and it sounded good. This is the perfect example of what a good restaurant should be. In summary, attentive friendly owner and staff, clean facility, and fantastic reasonably priced food in large portions. We tried a variety of the food incl. empanada, taco, coleslaw, plaintains, Peruvian beans, fried yucca, the chicken, all the sauces, Inka Cola, the Chicha morada and all three regular desserts on the menu. All of it was Fantastic. The chicken was hot and wonderfully seasoned, the Peruvian beans were very tasty, the flan was perfectly cooked. This is one of the best restaurants in the entire Myrtle Beach/Calabash area. Now, when asked, this will be at the top of our "recommended by a local" advice. Salud! read more

First time trying this restaurant. We will definitely return. The food was wonderful. We had the 1/4 chicken. It was tender, juicy and the beans and rice added a wonderful flavor profile. The rest of my group tried the tamale and empanada. The tamale had a light meal around and just enough spice to the chicken. The empanada crust was flaky and beef just wonderful. I finally managed to visit this establishment after years of promises to myself. I stopped in on a rainy afternoon for some takeout lunch. The interior of Que Rico is bright and clean. My order of four empanadas was cheerfully taken and brought out in minutes by a pleasant woman. I only live about ten minutes from the restaurant but the food was still warm despite the efforts of my air conditioner. To the food...The spinach empanada was anice mixture of the vegatable and ricotta in a delicious shell. The two beef items were wonderful and compared favorably with those a girlfriend from Puerto Rico used to make in my distant past. It was the chicken empanada that sent my tastebuds over the moon. It is not hyperbole for me to say it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. I will be back for dinner soon and for more empanadas! read more
