OMG. MAC AND CHEESE. WITH LOBSTER, CRAB, AND SHRIMP?! Boston Seafood Mac and Cheese. I had only one meal in Boston where I got to pick where to dine and as soon as I saw this on the menu, I was sold. Unlike many of the other stalls in Quincy Market, this place makes the food as you order. I watched as the cook put in four types of cheese, including a creamy sauce, into a pan and then add moist curly noodles and a decent sized cup of shrimp, lobster, and crab. SO GOOD. The lobster was a bit hard to taste but the crab definitely stood out, as did the shrimp. I only wish I could have had was a bit more crab, which would have put this at a 5 star instead of a 4 star. On the negative side, I also ordered a side salad (wanted to get some vegetables) but that was poorly executed. The ingredients weren't super fresh, especially the broccoli, tomatoes, and green peppers. If you want some fresh vegetables to balance out the cheesy goodness, I'd go elsewhere. read more

I LOVE Mac and Cheese and this was one of the greatest mac and cheeses I have had. I knew during my visit to Boston I had to try some sort of lobster mac and cheese and I'm glad I chose MMMac and Cheese to do so. I chose the Boston Mac n' Cheese which is mac n' cheese with lobster, shrimp, and crab (NOM NOM NOM). Everything is made when ordered so it's nice and fresh and I got to watch my magic deliciousness being cooked to perfection, and I only had to wait a couple of minutes til it was done. Also, lucky for me, it was on special that day so I saved about a dollar, whoop whoop! The mac and cheese was so creamy and they used big spiral noodles instead of the usual macaroni noodle which I liked, because it held more cheese. The seafood to mac and cheese ratio was perfect, I could eat a couple of noodles with each seafood bite. Yummm. I wish I had a spoon when I was finished with it so I could've scooped up all the cheesy goodness that was left after I attacked my mac n' cheese. I would give this place 5 stars, but I am deducting one star because when the guy was making another mac and cheese I saw that he left one of the wax papers that are between cheese slices in a pan. Mostly an American slice-reenforced bechamel tossed with ho-hum pasta and slopped into a waxed carton, the hefty portion is two meals' worth... unless you're feeding a bottomless pit undergrad who barely lets you steal a bite. I decided to take my nieces to the Aquarium and then Faneuil Hall for a late lunch. The two little ones saw the Mac N Cheese and were drawn to it. I was a little skeptical about it, but we watched the previous order being made, the kids were excited and I actually thought it looked pretty good. I asked the owner for recommendations and decided to go with the Classic American and the Ham n Cheese Mac for the 4 kids to share and got the Italian Mac for my self. The Girls loved theirs and enjoyed eating every bite of it. I was also very impressed with mine, it had basil and fresh tomato in it, it smelled good and it was delicious! In a long strip of restaurants with no close seating (technically all the seating is in the middle or along the outside/back areas of some of the places) it is easy to miss this place and many others. We must have walked this strip in the hall just looking at all the food five or six times during our trip here. You order at the register and people are also waiting for their food very close to the register so it can be hard to tell where to order and wait and so on. Just pay attention, you'll do great. Because it is cramped and so busy at this place and just in that area in general you can expect to wait a few minutes to place an order and a little longer to actually get it. However, they only have a handful of skillets and they cook everything up as you order it from a few pre-made pieces of food. We were there at 12:30 and eating within fifteen minutes so it wasn't terrible for us. We got the seafood and cheeseburger macs. Seafood was great, pasta for us was perfectly cooked and big so it just combines great with the cheese. Seafood chunks were generous and the lobster worked so well with the buttery creaminess of the sauce. Shrimp and crab were not as well mixed in but it was still ok, didn't expect it to blend as well as it did altogether. The sauce is pretty thick and I mean you would not expect the level of cheese these guys bring to the table. So many cheeses get tossed into that skillet it's awesome. Cheeseburger was arguably a little better I thought. Simple and just creamy the meat is a good offset to all that cheese and mac. The sauce base they use is very cheddary but they throw parmesan and mozzarella into the mix as well which cuts it back and creams it up. It is so gooey and right before they box it up for you they throw in another handful of mozzarella to top it off. We paid $24 for 2 smalls. We should have just split one because we both had leftovers. The portion size is huge and the level of cheese so high it is almost overwhelming. Next stop after an afternoon at Harvard was Quincy Market, and on this night I went for the special: Boston Seafood Mac 'n Cheese (normally $9.50 for a small order). This baby was loaded with lobster, shrimp, and crab and I got it for $8.95. Amidst all the other food court offerings (Boston Chowda) and crowds, my local guide pointed me here to Mmmac and Cheese. This meal was utterly simple, mesmerizing to watch them make in front of you, ooey-gooey hot cheesy goodness and delicous, generous amounts of seafood in every bite. The mac wasn't overdone or overpowered, and perfect to eat outside the market in the cool evening air. Definitely one of my cheapest meals during the whole trip, although I can't imagine ordering the large size for one person/sitting! I have been wanting to try MMMac & Cheese for ages, but as a lifetime Weight Watcher, I could never justify the fat/calories! Well, now that I am pregnant, all bets are off! I met another pregnant friend for dinner one night and, although we had discussed splitting a mac & cheese and a salad, we definitely each got our own (I think we each got a large, too) and a salad to split. We didn't even touch the salad! I went for the Buffalo and I think my friend got Veggie. We both had enough leftover for lunch or dinner the next day (and reheated, it was still pretty good) and I let her take the salad. Did it live up to my dreams, hopes & expectations? ALMOST. It was good and creamy and cheesy and thick. But was it the best mac & cheese I've ever had? Not so sure. I make a mean crockpot three-cheese mac & cheese... Before today, I hadn't realized I had gone here for a meal before. Their Mac N Cheese is only ok. Though creamy and pretty delicious, the fact that they use, what looks like, pre sliced American cheese and this cheesy soup for the sauce base bothers me a bit. They cook in front of you which is great, but at no point did I see them wash the pans or utensils between the different orders. Because of that - be wary vegetarians. The prices are decent for a good sized portion and they stay busy because of their location, but honestly, venture outside of Quincy Market for your food. Watching my food being made was a really cool touch, as you don't usually get the pleasure of viewing the chef make your meal. Staff was really nice and understanding when we took more than a few minutes to make our food choices. Really good place for food on the go. I'd recommend a small size, as it was more than enough for lunch, leaving me super full. Food was pretty good, as the pasta wasn't either too soggy or too crunchy. I really do loves me some mac 'n' cheese, and it turns out that this place is worth having to walk behind throngs of slow-ass morons in Bermuda shorts with crying babies and cameras around their necks to get to the good stuff. All the way towards the end of the seemingly endless food court, they were giving out samples when I arrived. Had one and was convinced that I needed to order some. I asked for a small cheeseburger mac 'n' cheese and the guy went straight to work. A lot of ground beef and A LOT of cheese went into a skillet right in front of mine own eyes. So I have to say that reading the Yelp reviews of this stand really prepared me for what I was getting myself into. I knew it was going to be overpriced and extremely ooey, gooey and cheesy! So with these expectations in the back of my mind I suggested coming here with my friends after we had been to the Aquarium and done a little shopping on a Sunday evening. I honestly don't think we could have hit up this area at a better time, there were no crowds anywhere, and at 7 p.m. on a Sunday many of the other stands had already closed. This proved key in the three of us getting our meals in a timely fashion. Since they make every order from scratch, expect to wait about 10-15 minutes while they cook your meal. I don't know if they are faster during the lunchtime rush, but based on what I saw I would skip this place when it gets crowded! Then again, I would skip this whole area when it is crowded! Anyway, it was great to see them make everything from scratch. I got the bbq chicken mac and cheese, because well... mac and cheese with barbecue sauce is my favorite food! After reading some of the other reviews, I was sure to stand close and ask for extra barbecue sauce! We took our piping hot meals over to an empty table and tucked in. I was fairly impressed, it was very cheesy, thats for sure, but for me it was just cheesy enough. Any more and it would have been too overpowering. I think getting something besides classic helps tone down the power of the cheese! I was glad to have the extra barbecue sauce thats for sure. My main problem was the chicken, while it was very tender, juicy and of a generous portion, it was also in large strips. It did not mesh with the bite size pieces of macaroni, and without a knife it was a little awkward to eat. My dining companions had gotten the veggie mac and were very happy with the fresh vegetables that were cooked in, and we were all impressed that they added tomatoes last and did not cook them! So in the end I was happy we stopped here for dinner. It is a little pricey considering its mac and cheese and despite the large portions. But on the other hand it is made right in front of you with very fresh top quality ingredients. I just don't think I would ever make a trip to Faneuil Hall just to eat here, its decent and really hits the spot when you have been craving mac and cheese all afternoon, but I would not fight the crowds of tourists to eat here. read more

I think this place is ingenious for combining two of my favorite things which sit on opposite extremes of the healthiness spectrum (being mac and cheese and organic salads). I ordered the cheeseburger mac and cheese, a spring mix salad and a beverage. The cheeseburger mac and cheese is so simple, yet so good. They make the Béchamel and cheese sauce right in front of you and out comes the hot bowl of mac and cheese. yum! The salad was also very good. All organic, all very fresh and the dressing it came with was good too. Some sort of vinaigrette, but I forget what kind. Although slightly pricy--my total was around $16 for everything... it was a lot of food and food markets are generally more expensive in such high tourist traffic areas. Oh well, I enjoyed it. I think it would be unfair to retract stars from MMMac and Cheese simply because it is located in Quincy Market. Although Faneuil Hall can be really hectic on weekends, that can hardly be blamed on MMMac and Cheese. If you do happen to be in Quincy Market, I would definitely recommend MMMac and Cheese. I had the cheeseburger mac and the person I was with had the Italian, and both were delicious. I have been here a few times and each time try something different and each time I love it! It's creamy and flavorful and full of a variety of meats and goodies! They will make a special order if you don't like what's on the menu, and it usually takes less than other less complicated dishes. Then again fanueil hall is a mad ass. I had been walking around Boston for a couple of hours with my kids and naturally we all worked up an appetite and decided to try something in Quincy Market. My 8 year old started talking about how much he wanted some mac and cheese. I was like "sorry kid, you're going to have to get a sandwich, pizza, burger..." because I had no idea where I could find some take-out mac & cheese. Well, lo and behold, as we are walking thru, we see a man handing out samples of mac & cheese! I just couldn't believe my eyes. My son was very happy that he was able to satisfy his craving. I'm a pretty picky pasta eater (has to be al dente!), but I actually enjoyed the sample & ordered some for myself as well! They had lots of varieties... BBQ, seafood, bacon, etc... My son chose the bacon and had the Boston seafood. The bacon mac & cheese would have been better if the bacon was crispy and chopped up instead of whole pieces of limp bacon in the mix. And the seafood one was okay, but I wish they didn't use imitation seafood. We will definitely eat here again when in the area, but the next time we will just stick to the plain version. read more

I went for the small Chicken Mac because I figured I ought to throw in some extra protein with my fat slathered carbs. It set me back a whopping $9.40, even with my performer's 10% discount. Pretty steep!! The mac n cheese itself was alright, but I have to agree with some of the other reviews; the flavor got old pretty quickly. The chicken wasn't what I would call choice cuts and despite all the cheese I saw them toss in and on my mac n cheese, the flavor could have been cheesier. It also leaves guests confused.... why the plastic containers, plastic bottles, and plastic bags? But most importantly, the mac&cheese was disgusting.
