So there are a few different ice cream/frozen yogurt crazes going on right now and MN Nice Cream stands ahead in almost every way. The soft serve is perfectly smooth and creamy. I got the twist and the chocolate is green. Kinda weird, but I enjoyed it and the 20 other people inside of this tiny spot had no problems with it either. Now, I would've liked to see a couple other flavor options and a spot to sit while eating would've been Nice.... I get it, we went while it was snowing so we didn't expect the customers to outnumber the seats. On to the good stuff- there are so many fun topping options, I can't even list them all. We got two cones. One was a twist with fruity pebbles, sour gummy strings, cookie dough and free glitter. The cookie dough was the size of ping pong balls and completely amazing! The other cone was a special from the board. 'Gone bananas' it was a twist with bananas, fudge, peanut butter, peanuts, puppy chow and glitter. The entire cone was bomb.com! I'd recommend coming here with your significant other so there is no suspicions about the glitter all over your face. (Seriously hun, i did not go to the strip club, i stopped for ice cream.) All I gotta say is this place was delicious!!! I just love soft serve ice cream and it isn't that it was the best soft serve in my life but the presentation and toppings just make it so fun! My friend and I popped in on a Saturday night and there was a small line but it went quick. Consider yourself warned when I say there are a lot of decisions to make when you come here. First you have to decide whether you want to create your own or try a signature creation. I went the creative route and built my own concoction. I did a bowl of Twirl ice cream (vanilla and pink chocolate), then chose 3 toppings (I got puppy chow, brownie and cookie dough), then indulge. I loved my combo but I left feeling about 10 lbs heavier, almost didn't finish it all but the cookie dough was too good. My friend got the bacon, sprinkles and cookie dough. She said the bacon was only okay. They do not go light on the toppings so I would recommend sharing so you can actually finish the whole thing without leaving any toppings behind. The small shop is located inside a Northeast office building. When we got there, I was surprised to find out they only offer 3 flavors of soft serve only. I ordered the Fun cone with strawberry soft serve. The cone came with a pink donut, sprinkles, glitter, and nerds too. For 6 bucks, they have either a cup or a basic cone. A dollar more gets you the fancy dipped cone. Two dollars more gets you the vegan cone. What's included in the price is ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, twist, or vegan of the day - mine happened to be blueberry lemon). Dye comes are not always available! I ended up getting the original cone with blueberry lemon ice cream, strawberries, fruity pebbles, cheesecake, and glitter. My boyfriend got the berry nice with vanilla. Staff we very nice. It gets quiet busy in summers so be prepared to stand in line, I went around 4:00 PM on a Saturday and had to wait 20 mins which isn't bad at all and i am sure it's worth the wait. Finally got up to the front and ordered. Pricing is a bit unclear. $6 or $7 per cone, plus a markup for a fancy cone. We spent $17 for 2 cones. We had the popcone (popcorn, Carmel, glitter) and a custom creation with strawberries, cookie dough, sprinkles and glitter. Watching the ladies make these was a bit hilarious, in a Portlandia kind of way. Mobbed, crowded waiting area, and they're meticulously placing puppy chows one at a time onto a pile of ice cream. So very slow. But I guess that's the point. Gotta get these babies prettied up for photos. Once we got our cones, they're pretty ok. It's standard issue soft serve, with fun toppings. The glitter thing is fun. These cones are easy to photograph. It strikes me as a one and done kind of place. We came, we photographed, we paid all the money, and now we're good to go back to a normal ice cream shop and eat $2 ice cream cones in peace. read more

We took our ice creams and took our fun pictures and it was everything we all had hoped for....until I got to the medium length wavy black/brown hair in the middle of my ice cream. My cousin and I are both blonde and my husband has red hair....it wasn't any of ours. We did notice a few people had their hair up but the men with longer hair did not. I was so grossed out. Naturally, as a hypebeast who falls for things like this, I had to try MN Nice Cream for myself. After missing out on the food truck that quickly gained enough popularity over the last year to finally have its store front, I knew I had to visit to see if the visual hype and positive word-of-mouth via social media matched what MN Nice Cream is at its core. Sadly, I was disappointed to find that under its pretty, unique combinations, the ice cream or soft serve itself was a bland, run of the mill flavor that had no lasting value to it. I ordered the Berry Nice specialty cone, which featured sprinkles and the popularity free topping "glitter", along with a strawberry and blueberry combination and cheesecake chunks. I opted for a twist of chocolate and vanilla soft serve, which is my biggest qualm, as it in no way was unique in flavor. I understand the seven or eight dollar price mark for an ice cream that looks this nice, but once you have enough bites to work through the colorful and pleasant toppings, you are left with a colorful cone and a borderline fast food soft serve that is not worth that pricemark whatsoever. Located in the heart of Northeast's "brewery district" with Able brewery right beside it, on a sunny warm day like when I went, expect a line out the door at this decent sized ice cream shop. Across the street there is plenty of parking along with street parking nearby, so rarely would I see it being an issue to get to MN Nice Cream. Aside from winning the "Best Dressed Ice Cream" award, another positive here is the service, when despite having a full line of patrons, they can still be friendly and efficient at crafting these lovely cones. This review may sound more harsh than this place deserves because honestly I will be back to try different combinations, but in a city where you have the likes of Milkjam and Izzy's crafting these delicious, unique flavors of ice cream, the simplicity of MN Nice Cream under its pretty surface just makes it forgettable for me.
