Having moved to Reno a little over two years ago, we have been through three dentists. Finally I can say that we have found our permanent dentist! Yay! I have two children ages 11 and 13 and they go to Dr. Preston as well. The waiting room is comfortable with a coffee/tea maker and a case with jewelry to purchase (Dr. Preston makes all the jewelry herself!). The rest of the office is spaced out and easy to maneuver as well as the dental chairs are very comfy. The staff and Dr. Preston are all so friendly (Joy is pure joy!), accommodating and explain your dental situation very well. My son had to have a tooth extracted and Dr. Preston referred him to the pediatric dentist a couple miles away. I appreciated that she knew he would be better off with them for that procedure versus her. It's also very convenient for us as we live down the street and they have flexible hours. Please please please do not go the this dentist! I wish I had not waited so long to write this review but I get upset every time I go to my great new dentist and all my problems are from the work this lady has done to my teeth! I had to have a bridge put in by her and after a year it kept falling out they suggested I just fix a dent it! Had a root canal don't and the tooth broke a month later. This lady will suck you dry all she cares about is money. She should be turned in to the dental board. The dental hygienist are another nightmare. I would normally come in for cleanings on my lunch break or before work and multiple times I was sprayed in the face with water and one lady would rest her hand on my eye and I would have smeared makeup not to mention it's not very comfortable. Also they love to try to sell you on every gadget they offer and mouth wash etc. so unprofessional and uncomfortable. The last straw for me was a day I had a cleaning and check up and they magically had a root canal specialist in the office and when it was time for my exam I had a tooth that needed a filling and that's all I had remaining on my insurance to do. She knew this and started drilling and what do you know I needed a root canal she said!!! So she hands me off to this young root canal specialist and he goes to numb the area and stabs the Novocain needle right in my bottom lip!! He quickly panicked pulling it out getting Novocain in my freaking eye! I was traumatized. I was in tears when it came time to leave and was at the front desk paying my $1300 dollar bill because I was out of insurance until a few months when the new year started and the girl taking my money felt so bad she was apologizing. Got a crown done and after it hurt for the first 6 months to a year. Then not even 2 years of having the crown it has come out while eating a banana! Def not worth the money I paid Nor the pain I had to endure after getting the crown I was sensitive to hit and cold, I was told I would have to pay 100 for them to recement it, any good dentist wouldn't have to re-cement it if done correctly in the first place. I had another dentist check it out since I've moved out of Nevada and they said my tooth is not decaying and that if he had been then that's a reason it would of fallen out with in the time frame it did but the tooth shoes now signs of decay so there is no reason why it should of came out except poor quality work putting it in. read more

Welp Yelpers, I thought I had found my new dentist when my previous one retired. I've been going to Moana Dental for the last year and all has been as okay as going to the dentist can be. I've personally spent a few thousand dollars for a root canal, wedding whitening and what not plus whatever my insurance paid. However, the billing person, Kathy, is an absolute witch. With the amount of money I paid over the last year plus with what my insurance paid her, I expect slightly better patient service. I recently left a long term job and I had insurance through September 2018. I had a claim in July that was paid and then the insurance made a mistake stating I wasn't covered and requested their funds back. The practice paid them, and slapped me with the $250 bill. I called my old broker and they fixed the issue telling me to have the dentist resubmit the claim and it'll be paid again. So now I call the dentist and this woman was snarky, rude and completely lacking in patient service. Ultimately I understand it's my responsibility but I had insurance and they're going to pay! I'm sorry to make you actually do something the day before the holiday but it's kind of your job. Meanwhile, I'm going to take my new insurance and thousands I pay annually elsewhere and she can pack sand. read more

The good: The dentist knows what they are doing and are knowledgeable. Here is the bad: made an appointment for a teeth cleaning and it's where the problem begins. As a new customer, x-rays are part of first visit with teeth cleaning. At the appointment before we began I asked them specifically if the x-ray and teeth cleaning was free because it was part of preventive care for my dental insurance. They assured that it is, then we proceeded to the cleaning. Cleaning went well. About a few weeks later, I got a bill in the mail indicating that I owe about $105 or so for the teeth cleaning. I called my insurance and Moana Dental. Long story short, most dental insurance covers bite-wing x-ray and does not the type that I received. When I question why didn't I get the bite-wing, their response was "you didn't ask for the bite-wing x-ray". How am I suppose to know these things? Why didn't they choose to do the bite-wing? Greed is the only explanation. I am out $105 when the service should be free. Moana dental lost about 2-3 thousands businesses in other dental services that I needed. Talk about stupidity! Anyway, stay away from this business and go else where. Front desk and billing was a nightmare to talk to. read more

Sorry for the delay in updating. I went in a few weeks later to settle the balance on previous work. There was no cancelation fee and nothing more said. I still get reminder cards in the mail but I just recycle them. If the office manager is too scared to admit she ran another patient off, they can continue to support the post office on my behalf. read more

I rate this office with four stars. It would be five, it could easily be five, if I didn't have to deal with the office manager Kathy. My visit was about a month ago. I was treated exceptionally well by the assistant, I think her name was Meghan. Also I thought Dr Preston was very professional and I received good treatment. Now, back to the four star issue. Kathy and I had to go over some financial/insurance information. Without going into too much detail, I found Kathy to be very rude and unprofessional. She seemed to be a know it all. Competent dentist but I could never get accurate estimates so I stopped going to Peggy Dot Preston.

I woke up this morning with a tooth ache and called Dr. Prestons office at 7am. They where able to fit me in based on my condition, first thing. This was my first visit and the entire staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I'm new to the area and she will definitely be my new dentist. Nice staff, clean and professional office and Dr. Preston spent time with me to answer my questions. I felt well cared for by this practice. read more

Like Sab P. I Absolutely hated the dentist, i hadn't been in over 3 years because of bad experiences with other practices. The review I found on Yelp sounded promising and I was in need of a lot of minor work (many cavities and cleaning). I begrudgingly made the appointment, and to my pleasant surprise the entire Moana Dental Care team is simply fantastic. The hygienists (Michelle and Danielle) are both fantastic at their job. I knew next to nothing about my insurance or how it worked. Connie was able to lay out everything in plain English and took care of business to a T. Peggy and her assistant Jess, were incredibly caring and made me comfortable through the entire process. I practically could have napped through the 5+ filling i received. I went to peggy and thought her staff and office was great, I had to make an appointment to get some work done for an only and some cavities, after she had done my root canal. An hour before my appointment I just had a bad feeling not to go. I called my sister in Salt Lake and made an appointment at the dentist's office she works in. I called peggys office and canceled last minute, which i felt bad about, but i just had a feeling I shouldn't go. I got along so great with peggy and her staff. Upon going to salt lake the next week and visiting my sisters dentist office, I LEFT HIS OFFICE HAVING NO WORK DONE He even did my x rays free of charge because he felt bad that peggy's office was going to do so much work (and had done work) that didn't need to be done. Peggys office forwarded to the Salt Lake Dentist all their files. Upon leaving his office I called peggy to tell her that i was upset, how could two medical professionals be so extremely different in opinions? From onlay to no work at all, he showed me the x rays and pointed to where peggys office was planning to fill a cavity - no cavity. I was pretty upset but wanted to give peggy a chance to explain to me, well she said she stood behind what her plan of treatment was, i was still upset about it but peggys office would not give me a discount on any of the charges. So i paid it and just decided to go to The salt lake dentist when i visited Salt Lake AND THEN....... I went to my sons birthday party and talked to two dental assistants....... I told them about my experience with peggy and they told me they had patients from peggys office that complained of the same thing. Dr. Leudtke in salt lake also asked when my last cleaning was, I told him i had peggys office do it 3 months ago, He told me that there was still way too much plaque on my teeth , that should not be there, and that whoever did my cleaning did a terrible job. He said whoever did it was obviously rushed, Dr. Leudtke does all his own cleanings by the way. I don't usually like to spread anything negative, but after hearing that it wasn't just me, I decided to write a review. I would never go to Peggy preston, after talking to people who work in the dental expertise, they all told me that doing work that is not required is very common. As the other person mentioned the dentist is 'competent' but I HIGHLY SUGGEST GOING ELSEWHERE!!! The staff is the REAL PROBLEM! Inaccurate estimates & I was mis-scheduled 3 different times!!! Each time there was confusion/mix up about the procedure I was having done resulting in me having to reschedule over & over!!! A real waste of time!! Moved to S. Reno recently and tried another dentist - but they didn't take Delta Dental! I went to Moana Dental Care and THEY ARE THE BEST!!! They take Delta, have a 3D printer and you get your crown right then and there, allow you to pay 50% day of service and the remainder next 2 months, have massage & heat in their chairs, and the staff is exceptional. Saw Dr Drew yesterday for a crown and filling and couldn't have asked for better treatment and I'm very happy with my dental care. read more

Dr. Preston is awesome! Okay. I absolutely HATE the dentist. Childhood trauma . . . don't ask. However, my parents kept pushing me to get my teeth fixed because I'm "going out into the world," was starting at a new job, etc. I had tried another dentist, and she wanted about $15,000 to do eight veneers. Yeah. Right. My friend had told me about Dr. Preston and how much she liked her, and since my insurance included Dr. Preston, I decided to go. The office was beautiful! Her staff was really kind too. The hygienist, Danielle, was kind and really understanding after I told her about my fear of dentistry. She was actually very gentle during my cleaning, but not so much so that I didn't feel "clean." After my cleaning appointment, I met Dr. Preston, and she was super nice. She recommended what I should get done, and when I talked about the veneers and what exactly I wanted, I felt like she actually listened. Her staff quoted me for $8,000 for eight veneers, and my insurance was going to pay for some of it anyway. Now, some periodontal therapy, three fillings (which really didn't hurt, Dr. Preston is really good with that Novocain, I barely felt the shots, and . . . yeah, okay, I had some nitrous too), and eight veneers later, I love my teeth! I had the worst experience ever at this Moana Dental. These people (billing) give all wrong information and force the patients pay extra. Absolutely no regard to the patients. However, the doctor and is good. Overall, there are better facilities around in town, please stay away from this place.
