Finally able to visit this place and it did not disappoint. My experience was bittersweet in that as I sat there in the dining room alone smelling the sweet aroma of fried dough and sugar...I worried whether this great establishment could withstand the pandemic. With that said, please come support! don't hesitate to do your part to keep a Mo'bay in business. Atmosphere-great area for families or couple time... or even alone (more beignets for you). Very clean and pandemic friendly. The kitchen staff do not wear masks but it is explained on a sign that they are not required to. Music selection was great via pandora. Love the painted brick walls and overall aesthetic. Beignets-I'm a frequent at Cafe du Monde so trust me when I say these hit the spot. I agree with another yelper (if you're going to compare to Cafe du Monde) they are more doughy in the middle and not as airy. But after eating these I'm not so sure if that's a bad thing!!! Service-great very polite service. I purchased the 12 piece and asked if it could be divided into 3 bags to take to some family and that was honored with no problem. Yes I was the only customer on a Wednesday morning at 10:30am and still had to wait 10-15 minutes for my order... but they were extremely hot and fresh and no complaints here!! So worth the wait. If they had beignets just sitting there to cater to those in a hurry... there would be complaints that they were stale. So if wait times is a concern for you, take my advice, don't be in a hurry. Why would you want to be anyway when you have these in front of you. Take your time drink your coffee and get ready to lick your fingers. read more

Fantastic coffee and beignets! I'm from Louisiana so I wasn't expecting much, but these beignets were excellent! I've never had syrup/sauce with beignets before and thought I didn't need them but am so glad we bought them anyways! The raspberry syrup was out of this world! I also got a cafe at lait cold brew and it was better than any other coffee shop around. 100% recommend if you need a quick snack or dessert! read more

Cafe Du Whooooo????? It's about time a dessert or pastry place serves sweets late! Mobile has been missing a joint like this. I believe this place is going to do very well if they stay open for the after dinner and late night snack crowd. We went to the grand opening. The place was packed. I don't think even the owners knew they were going to get this type of response. The beignets are made fresh to order and they are huge and awesome! They come with a dipping sauce. Last night they had cinnamon and buttercream. They were both very tasty although I preferred the cinnamon. With a shabby chic southern charm inside, each table has a set of blue and white dominoes. This is a tip of the cap to the owners grandfather who loved dominos. The beignets are flavorful, a little thicker than most, and a little more dense which I didn't mind. Very cool spot... we will be back but probably once the crowd dies down. read more

I have never had Cafe du Mont (I think I spelled it correctly). I don't think I ever have to go, though. The beignets tasted superb. Me and the Mrs. shared 3...I needed more! So good. Syrups were great (buttercream and cinnamon). I even got some of the cinnamon in my cafe au lait (pro tip ;-))...safe to say I will be a regular of Mo'bay!! read more

The beignets were tasty but the customer service was a 0. My friends and I were made to feel very unwelcome by the cashier. (I.e. judgmental about what we were purchasing, rude facial expressions, bare minimum and disinterested answers to basic questions that, as first time visitors, we would be expected to have). On top of that, one of the kitchen staff was eating pizza in the kitchen. She was in full view since there is a large window into the kitchen. This experience was really unfortunate as the beignets were good, and the location is beautiful. A real shame. read more

Cute spot and great addition to downtown! Sweet owner and great staff!! Very large room with many tables so the place is good for large groups. I've been twice and both times the beignets were tasty! Maybe a little more dense than Cafe Du Monde's, but delicious none the less. I tried both of the sauces and you can't go wrong with either one, but I prefer the cinnamon! I gave 4/5 stars because of the wait time. They only have a small fryer so if there is a line it will take awhile! read more

I read the reviews and decided to give them a try, however the beignets that I received were tuff. The cashier was cheery, I noticed some tables/floor needing cleaning especially with the Covid. My order had the sauce containers thrown in on top of my beignets perhaps a separate bag or given on the side would of been a better method. The back door of the restaraunt had lose trash about, mostly broken boxes strewn from the door to the curb. I ended up trashing all but one beignet, out of two orders. a sweet treasure discovered in downtown Mobile. Located in a lovely, airy, space good for a quick visit or a linger with your book and beverage. These beignets are outstanding. Lightly crispy outside and pillowy soft on the inside. Each order is made fresh as you wait, not kept under some lousy heat lamp. They come under a mountain (possibly too much) powdered sugar and would be a delicious treat just like that. But you add in their homemade sauces and it goes to another level. Buttercream, cinnamon, and a seasonal sauce-pumpkin spice today-all made in house are amazing. I recommend a double dip of the buttercream and the cinnamon. After having beignets other places, I never expected they could be this good. If you are anywhere close by and craving something sweet, head here immediately. read more

The beignets were a bit too large and fairly flavorless. They made a whole batch of mix wrong and so the line piled up - glad I was at the front of the line. Most staff not wearing masks, but all 15 or so customers all had them on. Not recommended at this time. read more

Best beignets ever! Absolutely delicious. What makes them the best is that they are hot and crispy on the outside with a lightness and airiness on the inside. The buttercream syrup really is buttery! I'd have ordered more syrup containers if I'd known I was going to make it a dipping sauce!! Next time I'll order three beignets and three buttercream syrups, not just one!! First impression: This place looks nicer than what they have actually done for the building. The theme is Blue and white, a great color combo. Service: 5 star service is good, warming and welcome. Staff in the kitchen are all relatively energetic. The station looks simple and clean. Beignets: 4 start We got 12 pieces, flavors are good, the texture is right except there were 3 pieces are 30% raw inside. Dipping Sauce: 4 star Both flavors are way too sweet. Excellent visit to MoBay beignet. The beignets were huge and hot and tasty. The dipping sauces were great. The buttercream was very rich. I really like the Lemon and blueberry. I mixed both together and it was quite a treat. This was my first time here and I did not realize the size of the beignets. 3 would have been plenty for 2 people. Really enjoyed the treat. read more

Coffee delicious......but 45 mins. for an order of 3 Beignets was a bit, too long.........they were delicious beignets.....but by the time I finally got them had lost my sweet tooth. There were 7 workers behind the counter....3 mainly interacting with each other. No one out wiping tables down, had to do that yourself. I'm hoping this place makes it.....but they need to streamline the making of ONE food product offering somehow, and serve more quickly. I will try it again. read more

We're new to Mobile, and I'd never had beignets before, but I am a huge fan of Mo'Bay's! The beignets are thick, pillowy and soft, and are served on a mountain of powdered sugar. And if that still isn't sweet enough for you, you can also get some sauces to dip them in--we like the cinnamon and the buttercream. They don't sell the beignets individually; I believe you have to order a 3 or a 12 pack. However, when we inquired about this (we had only wanted 4), they at first said they only sell them in threes, but we found an extra one in our order, gratis. I also enjoy their hot cafe au lait, which has chicory in it--I could not tell you if chicory has a distinct taste, but the coffee is smooth and mellow. The cafe is very bright and airy, with white walls and huge windows. There are small cafe tables, one long communal table, and bar stools at the windows. There are also a couple of tables outside, as well as a treat and water dish for dogs. Their response to COVID is not quite as stringent as we may like (tables too close together, kitchen staff don't wear masks, tabletops have grooves and look difficult to clean properly). They are not doing anything that is not in accordance with current regulations and their non-kitchen staff do wear masks. Of course, eating in a cafe during a pandemic carries inherent risks, no matter what precautions an establishment takes. COVID or not, I think paper tablecloths would be a better way to keep the tables clean and to catch at least some of the mountains of sugar, but just as some steakhouses allow their patrons to toss peanut shells on the floor, perhaps a dusting of sugar snow over the place is just part of the charm. I have seen the staff wiping down the tables regularly, and the place looks generally clean. There are two bathrooms, and an additional hand washing station in the cafe. Overall, it's a very nice place to relax and enjoy your sugar rush. read more

For $15 I expected at the very least to be blown away.. the beignets were absolutely fresh. Didn't take too long to receive my order at all.
