I've come to this gas station many times normally the gentleman(s) Working behind the counter are extremely nice the place is clean. But there is this New Girl that has started here. That i've been seeing her more recently her name is Alycia or Alicia. So I went to get myself coffee and one of the containers, The coffee was splattering everywhere when you push It down to fill up a cup of coffee. So I practically burn myself and I told her. You may want to be careful with this particular one. Because someone could get hurt and she was like "Oh well yeah you just have to put your cup close to it". For starters, that's not customer safety. If somebody severely gets burned or something like that or pushes it too hard and something happens Could be a situation and then it could get on the floor and then someone could slip and fall if the coffee was going everywhere because it was going on the counter as well and I had to clean it. UTC has 2 gas stations: The Chevron on Costa Verde with reasonable prices and a full service gas station. Then, there's this POS Mobil station that charges more for gas than I've ever seen in San Diego. I give them credit for being in a prime location, near the freeway and UCSD. But, I don't think that warrants charging $0.50-$1.00 more than other gas stations. The positives are that it's clean, it has a lot of stalls to fill up, and it has a drive thru car wash. The negatives are that the gas is so expensive, my ass wouldn't be able to afford a car wash after. I tried to buy some lotto tickets after work and they told me they don't sell them. This might be the first mini mart that didn't sell lotto tickets. I know I'm in a rich area, but that doesn't make me rich... I'm trying to win the lotto and make it rain at Cheetahs! But, for reals. This gas station is too rich for my blood. Save money and go to the Chevron near Costa Verde (Nobel and Cargil). read more

OK it is so silly to rate a gas station. But can I just say I had one of my best experiences here? The staff was so friendly. This place is on the ball when it comes to Covid cleanliness. They were even wiping down their snacks! My coffee lid was delivered to me in a napkin from behind the clear plastic shield by the very friendly staff at the register. Additionally the gas station sells coffee and actually nutritious snacks. A total life saver when on the go. The gas station is usually busy and has plenty of spots open to get gas. Additionally, their are some parking spots in the rear. Like I said above, I know its silly to rate a gas station. But when a company or employees are going above and beyond the demands of the job I want them to be recognized for it. This is in fact the most covid friendly gas station in my opinion. read more

I've read most of the negative comments and I'm not surprised. I had a bad experience this morning and just want to say something about it. I came here this morning to get some gas and buy some cigs. While I was waiting for my turn at the window, there was a young female buying some chips before me. I was looking at the male cashier. He was overly friendly, this guy is old enough to be the young girl's dad. As the female turned and walked out, the guy was eyeing her back and butt and smiled in a creepy way. As a mom, I should have slap that guys face. Red flag! When it was my turn, I clearly said, without a mask on, cause it muffled my words if I have one on, 2 72 lights. He told me to swipe my card and he charged me. I was still standing there waiting for him to give me my cigs (yes, I smoke). I told him, I'm waiting for my cigarettes? He started scanning a cigarette, I asked him, didn't you charge me awhile ago? He told me, he charged me for a bag of ice! I told him, I'm not buying for a bag of ice, and I'm buying for cigarettes. It took him a long time to retract the transaction, and charged me full for the cigarettes. I told him straight up, he shouldn't be, the word is, oggling someones back & butt, cause it made him look so creepy. This gas station is near a hospital and a university, with full of young girls. As a mom, I am warning females to be aware of who you are talking to & buying things from. Be careful. read more

This place is "okay" for the car wash...Quick tip though is that they don't accept credit cards at the machine you have to go inside if you wanna use your card for the car wash, I've seen too many people drive up and get out of their cars to go inside and pay.... I am pleasantly happy with this gas station although it may not seem like it due to the three star review. Let me just get the negative out there (even though the rest of my fellow yelpers did it for me)....the gas is outrageously expensive. I live around the corner and work off of Miramar Road and I will always get gas on my way to and from work, never at this Mobil. I can't afford this place's gas! The three stars come soley from the car wash! There are many others like it, but let me tell you about why this is my new favorite. I have been to quite a few and this one is so simple to use. You can either pay for a wash and gas at the same time or purchase the wash right up at the machine (beware it does not take cards, you have to go inside if you don't have cash on you). The machine literally tells you what to do. I have been to some of these that embarrass me so much because I can't figure the darn things out! The wash it self is touch free so there are no huge wipers hitting your car (I've heard that is harsh on your paint job). I was a little skeptical as I was sitting in the middle of it thinking there was no way the soap, water and air could get the bird poop off of my hood! You see, the birds that live in the tree above my parking spot believe my car to be their personal toilet ;]. You can believe my surprise when I got home to see my car spotless! My favorite part of the whole experience however, was the way the washer dries your car. Usually these automatic ones state a time (60 seconds, 30 seconds, etc) for how long the drier is blowing and you have to slowly drive through it hoping you got all spots of your car dried equally. This one has the driers built into the same mechanism that spits out the soap and water, so at the end it goes around and dries your car evenly FOR YOU! So awesome. Awful car wash. Be prepared to wait in line for 20 minutes everytime. Also, make sure you prepaid for the car wash from pumping gas or have cash on you for the machine before you enter the car wash. I ended up having to go to another car wash the next day because there was so much mud left on my vehicle. Your car will still be soaking wet even after the dry process. I have to say that the negative reviews are actually funny to me. The car wash is a machine that you pull into yourself & costs you $7. Your car may not sparkle when you're done, but you get what you pay for, dude. I've used the car wash dozens of times over the years & have always been satisfied with how it came out. Which comes to why I give this place 5 stars. The gas is pricey. More so than other gas stations in the area, but the service is great. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They've helped me check my oil, fill the air in my tires, etc. over the years. They go out of their way to help you. I've driven past my exit on the freeway to go to this gas station because I know it's always open, the people are always nice & it's so close to the 5. And I appreciate that it's so brightly lit late at night. There's also a bathroom and it's inside, which is a treat for a gas station restroom, and it's always clean, which is a rarity for a gas station restroom. read more

Geeezzz Nobody was there to help either, so I had to pull all the way through then get back in line which at that point was not worth it for a $7 car wash. Thank you Mobil Car Wash! My car was filthy and for $7, your rain machine made my car clean again! All I had to do was insert cash into your machine and press a button to select which wash I wanted. THAT IS SO INNOVATIVE! Regarding the cash, it was very inconvenient that I had to first buy some old gum in order to break my Benjamin. Sucks that you guys only take 1s, 5s and 10s. Who carries such small denominations of bills? I thought they were discontinued. Nonetheless, the best part of the wash was that there were no annoying humans making microscratches on my car with abrasive reused towels. It's just water, soap and air! :-D Sure your gas is a rip-off but I only buy from Chevron or Shell anyway! Also, a suggestion for improvement is to add some music to your rain machine! One of the pricier gas stations considering its location and proximity to the 5 but its because of location and proximity to the 5 that I often fill up gas here. When I was a UCSD student it was my preferred place to get gas and nowadays as I work in a hospital nearby I fill up here on my way home. - During the day it can get packed due to the sheer amount of students and commuters. - Really late at night (past 12am) it's brightly lit so that I feel safe filling up gas here. - Rare occasions there are the non-functional pumps but there's been no problem with me finding another area to pump. - On the other rare occasion where I had to use the restroom the facilities are clean. Aside from the cash on busy days it can take a while to finally make that right turn to go back on La Jolla Village Drive or back on 5S. read more

I don't really understand the horrible reviews for this place. Sure the prices are a little higher than other gas stations in town but it's not like they trick you into paying it. The prices are clearly displayed and if you don't want to pay them, drive down to Clairemont Mesa to a ghetto gas station and save yourself 20 cents per gallon. I prefer not to get shanked while pumping gas so I'll gladly pay the extra pennies to come to a well lit and clean gas station. There aren't really a lot of gas stations in UTC and this one gets the job done. It also has a touch free drive thru car wash which is hard to find in the area. The car wash is a little pricey too, however (7-10 bucks depending on the one you chose). Overall, aside from the price it is a perfectly fine gas station. read more
