Horrible experience. My poor dog yelped in pain with the first injection which took 3 tries. The scheduler on the phone sounded so caring and compassionate, but Libby seemed awkward and inexperienced and had nonexistent bedside manner. I'm not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews. My other dog was traumatized watching the whole thing, as was I. It's taken months to even be able to write this review. read more

On the hardest day of my life, Dr Hays came to our home and helped us say goodbye to my two best companions of 17 and 18 years. She showed so much compassion - for me and the dogs - even gently tucking their bodies into soft little blankets before carrying them out for transport to the crematorium. Dr. Hayes is an angel! Our beloved dog feel seriously ill suddenly and we were desperately looking for a mobile vet to come take a look at him. We definitely did not want to stress him out even more by packing him in to the car and going to a clinical environment. Dr. Hays came to my home to euthanize my 13 year old dog, Gunner. With that private and quiet environment, it was far better than taking him to the vet hospital where he had always been upset and nervous. It has been great to have Dr. Hays come to provide vet care for my 17 year old dog with severe arthritis. He was a farm dog before I adopted him and is uncomfortable in cars. Each trip to the vet caused him severe anxiety and arthritis pain since he refused to lay down and stay still. He's been able to continue on all his medication his previous vet had him on, plus another was added which I believe has given me a few extra precious months with him. Dr. Hays is very responsive and always calls back in a timely manner. The first time I called her she was able to come out quickly to euthanize my 14 year old dog last year. There is no way I will EVER do anything else except an at-home euthanization if at all possible. We did not have to carry our 70 lb dying dog to the vet with all the sounds, smells and the stress. He knows nothing good ever happened to him at the vet Instead, he was surrounded by his loved ones and I was stroking his sweet head as he was given the sedative to put him under before given the final shot. It helped me cope with his death knowing that at his last moments he wasn't scared or anxious. It is the final gift I think we can give our pets. I would recommend her for senior care, compassionate euthanasia but also for well animal checkups on healthy pets. The convenience of at home care is priceless and I know very few pets who don't get anxious when they have to go in to the vet clinic. Mobile vet care may be a bit more expensive but it's very worth it, and I've been surprised at how reasonable Dr. Hays' prices are. read more

Heaven scored a big win this afternoon when St. Peter opened the gates and whistled for Wesley, our 8.5 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. Wes was diagnosed with lymphoma just last Saturday, and the prednisone regimen should have worked to significantly improve his symptoms and help him feel a lot better. But it just didn't work out like that, and after he had a terrible night last night and an equally bad morning, we made the decision to help him pass along as easily as possible. The Mobile Cat & Dog Vet, Dr. Libby Hays, was masterful, and Wes went out in total joy, being hand-fed roast chicken in our kitchen. Indeed, he couldn't believe his good fortune! Bernese Mountain Dogs trade their beautiful looks and goofy, lovable personalities for a lifespan of only about 9 years on average before cancer takes so many of them. Wes was a happy dog for all but about 2 short weeks, and he certainly knew he was loved right through his last bite of chicken! We are alternately overcome with tears and grief, and then with such pleasure and relief that his rough time was so brief, and that his passing was so good. Nothing is more heart wrenching when you have made the decision to let your beloved pet go.
