Paul should be your go to repair person for iPhone. In fact, he should get the Nobel Peace Prize for doing this work. I have an iPhone X with blown screen. Apple wanted almost $300 for the repair. Paul did it while I waited for $85. There was one software with True Tone. Paul followed up with me, obtained the equipment to re install the True Tone. I don't know if the aftermarket screens are better than the original, but it's OLED, and if you have a later model phone, you might not want to dump a lot of money into the apple repair. Paul seemed super friendly, knowledgeable, and I never was worried that he would not get my software and hardware fixed. I'll be going here again in the future. He works out of Baller Hardware, which is a lot of great stuff to shop for while you wait 10-15 minutes. read more

Wow! Paul was fast, reasonably priced, and incredibly nice and customer-oriented. He replaced the LCD/digitizer/glass on my iPhone 6 in 15 minutes and included a screen protector as well with the repair. I was desperate to get some data from the phone, and I'm thrilled to be able to recover that data so quickly and for such a reasonable price. I also had some glass cracked on a Pixel 2 (only cosmetic damage on the back of the phone), but unfortunately Paul said he hasn't been able to get the parts in to do repairs for that. No worries, I honestly wasn't even sure I wanted to get it fixed since it's just cosmetic. Within the big August rainstorm last Sunday, there was a freak storm within my apartment, like a poltergeist. This resulted in water damage to my dependable and badly needed Samsung cellphone, for which I have a monthly plan at Mobile One Communication at Baller Hardware in Highland Park. (I have had a plan there, of some sort, for years, since I would add $10. or $15. to my silver flip phone, often.) May I add, although not intentional, this disaster was all my responsibility, in other words, MY FAULT!! There was a large bucket of flowers on the floor, with two or three inches of water. The bouquet was given to me by thoughtful neighbors after my 13 or 14 y.o. boy Australian Shepherd, Milo, died the week before, suddenly, with no warning. There was a lot of hysteria in my apartment building from the approaching hurricane, with some tenants behaving as if we'd be holed up for days without contact from the outside world. I and my other animals were peaceful enough inside, but I was/am pretty distressed that my beautiful dog had died without much warning, had died at all. The trusty phone was charging near where I had moved the mourning flowers/ bucket. I wanted to use it, pulled the wire gently towards me. I had not judged correctly the geometry of the situation and the phone dipped into the flower water, and immediately lost all power. There was only a drop or two of water on front and back, a bit on sides. No water on wire. I wiped it off, got out the bag of rice. The phone got hotter and hotter. I thought, explosion to come? It later cooled. My first chance to take the phone to the amazing Mr. B. was on Tuesday, in all my embarrassment. Especially as he seemed even busier than usual. And he never sits down to rest! Paul kept my phone for a couple of hours. He found abundant flooding and corrosion within. He then worked on it for a couple of days, even while he was assisting many other customers. (Maybe a bit of rainwater and more flower water seeped into those precious electronics also?) My dearly loved and faithful cellphone could not be revived, but Mr. B. set me up with a new, similar phone. It was inevitable that the texts and phone logs would be lost. But Mr. B. saved my contacts list and my photos, including those of my precious Milo, his Border Collie partner, Fiona, and the cats (don't ask me to count them). Sadly I cracked the screen of my newly purchased iPhone SE. I reached out for a quote last night and received a response immediately and was able to walk in this morning with no appointment needed. This is far and away the best experience I have ever had getting a screen replacement for an iPhone! I have been to other places that charge more for low-quality knock-off screens and they often take an hour or more to do the job, but this guy couldn't be nicer-- they have a variety of replacement options and he explained the differences with each. They even have actual Apple replacement screens for only $75, and that includes labor! I've seen places charge over $100 for low-quality screen/glass replacement. Mr Butt surely knows his stuff. He use to have an old location near by and has since relocated within the hardware store not too far away. He offers different pre-paid phone services from brands such as MetroPCS, Boost, Simple Mobile, and Virgin Mobile. He is an honest guy and doesn't try to upsell you on something you may not need. He is always courteous and takes the time to explain everything to his customers. It does get busy at the beginning of the month so definitely try to come early in the day or you may end up waiting because he is the only employee there. read more
