Mike continues to be a reliable mechanic as problems come to surface for my aging and well loved van. While many other mechanics and shops would have thrown in the towel and suggest I take it as a total loss, Mike will roll up his sleeves and try something else. He understands not only how sentimental this van is to me (my dad's before he passed), but also that I am tight on money and need the car in order to get to work. Unfortunately the issue with my car is one that requires several steps in order to resolve, and while it may feel like an endless cycle, each repair we do gets closer to the problem and is aligned with what mechanics in shops would do. However the price is not the same. A brick and mortar would have charged me an arm and a leg for the labor and all the new parts, Mike charges fair prices for not just parts but his labor too. He's a friendly guy with lots of stories to tell, so the repair feels more like two friends working on a project together. I'll admit that I didn't know much about cars in the beginning of our saga, but I know a lot because of Mike. He always tries his best to explain to me the inner mechanics of my vehicle so I can understand what the repair is meant to do. He's open to ideas and suggestions since I do my own research and rather than get defensive or dismissive, he'll listen to me and we talk it out. I don't know any other mechanic that would do that. When I broke down on the side of the road he called me twice to check on me because he knew I was alone and it was getting dark. I assured him I had a tow on the way and he said to call him if anything so I'm not in the dark by myself. What other mechanic would do that for you! Mike's not just my mechanic, he's my hero. Now I have people asking ME if I'm a mechanic because of how much I've learned from him. I'm hoping the issue resolves soon, but I'm so grateful that Mike continues to show up for me. Michael made it seem like he was a nice guy. He answers the phone quickly, was available in a short window of time, and the price he quoted price was reasonable.... Well you know what they say... When things are too good to be true they usually are. I did not see things turning out the way they did. Everything seemed okay until it wasn't. Not sugar coating anything. Please check Photos and text. Heres the story: After speaking with Michael briefly - he have be a very long winded explanation of how to schedule an appointment with him and his company. To do so I would need to text him, my location, vehicle information(so he could make sure he located the correct parts for repair), and the repair requested. I obliged and scheduled with him for the next day, to have a same day repair completed(steering gear box replacement). He arrived the next day = 2 hours late but he communicated that he was going to be late. (can't complain here). I asked him if he wanted me to put the car in the driveway since it was starting to rain and he declined. I asked him to call me if he changed his mind - i would be inside as he worked. Two hours later Michael called to say that he got the wrong part and would have to return the next day... (OK, fine, although frustrating) The next day Michael returns while I am not available to inspect and "completes" the job. When I return home from work it is too late/ dark to inspect so I plan to check the next day. When I get to my vehicle, i expected to get in and drive off after receiving Michaels blessing. Boy was I wrong. I immediately called Michael to ask why this could be the case or if he noticed anything. The response i received was shocking for someone who offers a 1 year warranty. He began verbal dump about how my car was old, and that it was my fault for not explaining correctly, and that it worked perfectly when he left... I knew i was in trouble at this point.. All I wanted was an operable vehicle, I had a leak before and now my truck is unable to drive. After some further inspection and diagnosis It became clear Michael replaced an unrequested item - the power steering pump, close but not the same- not what i requested(See photos). Michael repaired/replaced the wrong part. Not the biggest deal just inconvenient. After calming Michael down, not sure why he was so animated, he confirmed the coming the next morning to inspect and conduct the correct repair at 8am the next day. At 8:06 the next morning, i texted Michael asking how he took his coffee and to text me when he arrived so I could bring him the keys and a coffee since he was coming out so early in the morning. The text I received was comical at that point. "I'm not coming. I thought about it last night and there will always be a conflict of interest. I will need $150.00 to come, you won't be happy with the price of the repair and neither one of us is going to be satisfied. I'm sorry but if you don't know much about cars don't tell the next guy what to replace. BTW your suv doesn't have a rack and pinion" I took work off to be available and 20 minutes after the appointment was scheduled Michael chooses to cancel and even has the disrespect to demand more money to fix the problem that he was originally requested and not serviced. I would NOT recommend Michael Aiu Taber. He does not operate as an honest business person should. DO NOT TRUST MICHAEL TABER. He has been reported to the the Dept. Of Consumer Affairs. Had some issues with the brake switch (or so I thought) and just wanted someone to come take a look and help me out. Everyone charges a diagnostic fee, and then they tell you what's wrong with your car and charge you to fix it. Not Mike! My husband's work van was acting up, so with our livelihood depending on it, he needed to find an available mechanic fast! After searching online and making a few calls, my husband went with Mike. He had responded quickly and knew exactly how to fix the problem after just listening to a description of it over the phone- now that's an expert at his craft! When he arrived, he had all of his tools and parts ready to go. Mike offered to call my husband when he was done so he wouldn't be sitting around wasting time if he needed to do stuff, but my husband opted to stay. Instead of letting him be bored, Mike made their time together meaningfully interactive by showing/explaining to my husband what he was doing as he worked. Mike came through while I was in a bind- my brakes were starting to grind after work on Friday and everywhere else I reached out to on Saturday was either too expensive, forcing other repairs on me or not available due to it being a weekend but he was able to accommodate me on a Sunday morning and have my rear brakes and rotors safely replaced under two hours while also meeting me near my place in town. I have used this service a couple times now. First time was a year ago, which was an ignition coil issue. Mike responded to my request quickly and worked fast. He made sure I test drove it a little before leaving to confirm everything ran smooth. Cost was decent/cheaper compared to taking it to a shop. Bought a starter for my Honda Accord, but realized that I would not be able to change it on my own. I called Mike and he arrived 2 hours later. My car broke down at my job so I was making arrangements to have it towed to a dealer in town. Before making the call I search the Internet for a Mobile mechanic who might be able to do the job where my car was rather than having it towed and possibly needing to leave it overnight. I was fortunate enough to find Mike from Mobile repair solutions who agreed to come and make the repairs as needed. He showed up at my car within two hours of first contacting him with a new starter in all the tools necessary to get the job done. He was very friendly and personable not to mention knowledgeable about every aspect of my car. We agreed upon a price that was lower than the dealer would have charged me and he got to work. He Had to take half of my engine apart to get to the starter but was able to do the job and get my car put back together within three hours of arrival. He did a great job and was very professional throughout the process. I would highly recommend him for any automobile repairs. My only regret is not finding him sooner because I have wasted so much time and money bringing my car to different shops for repairs in the past when I could have called Mike and saved time and money. read more

I would like to rescind my previous review of Mike. I should not have ignored the Yelp bad reviews before booking him for a second repair. Mike agreed to replace the radiator on my Volvo. Per agreement I bought a new radiator and coolant. A week before the scheduled repair he quoted me a price on the high side, but I agreed. He offered me a date for repair which I advised him I'd have to rearrange my work schedule to make happen, but once again agreed. The morning of the repair (30 minutes before), he called to say that he could not do the repair because it required a lift. How could he quote me a rate without checking this first??? I told him I was unhappy because he knew I'd rearranged my schedule to make the repairs happen, but he clearly didn't care. In addition, I have repeatedly asked for a receipt/invoice on the previous repair (which of course I paid for), but have not received anything. Mike is a good talker, but clearly doesn't do his research. He also obviously has no regard for his customers or how he might inconvenience them. Best advice I can give is DO NOT USE MIKE. Mike Taber is a very experienced mechanic for both new and older cars. I have a 1994 corolla, and has used him several times. Each time the problem with my car was not major, but it is aged, and little things here & there would need replacement. So I've elected to call him whenever those things presented itself for replacement. However, if he would have found anything major that would have made my car unsafe to drive, you can be sure he would have advised me of it, and I would certainly have had Mike take care of it. It's very obvious that auto repairs IS a passion of Mike's, which I certainly appreciate it. He's obviously not in it just for getting paid, but for the love of it, and the desire to Help folks. His extensive knowledge and bubbly personality is a reflection of it. He also has the convenience of being a mobile repair service, which REALLY is totally convenient! He is so well versed in auto repairing, that he can go it alone in his "Shop on Wheels". His repair charges are EXTREMELY fair, when considering his expertise and Downright HONESTY! I originally posted on Yelp to get help with my car issues, the first response was not satisfactory. I went online and found Mobile Repair Solutions. Gave him a call and he was able to take a look at my car after describing what the problem was. He showed up earlier than he said. Cool! We talked about the problem I was experiencing and he had already researched it before arriving since we talked on the phone. He was extremely patient and explained everything clearly. He did the diagnostics and it was the O2 sensor. My check engine light had been coming on intermittently and my car was running a little rough at times after fueling up. He told me what had to be fixed, called to check on parts availability. I asked him to fix the problem, and he headed of to get the parts then was back within a half hour or so and got to work. He quoted a fair price and did an awesome job. Everything took under an hour. I liked that he explained things in detail that my brain could process and not too over my head. Guy is a crook. Talks a lot and to make a long story short before he left he said he needed a $150 deposit for coming and a portion of it would be deducted when he did the repairs. He texted me back and said the repairs would be $350 and $50 would be credited toward the invoice. So he charged me $100 just for showing up to recommend what he was going to do. Anyway, told him did'nt want anything done and told him to keep $50 and return $100. Have'nt heard from him since. Will give him a review with BBB and check State agencies to see if he is properly licensed to do business. read more

This was by far the worst auto repair experience. Mike showed up in response to me sharing I was having likely transmission issues due to the AT light being on when I put in reverse the vehicle shook and choked and wouldn't shift properly or accelerate. I asked if he wanted me to pick up transmission fluid before he came and he said he had some and I would not need. When he arrived I actually had to show him where the ATF was under the hood and then he started to tell me it wasn't possible to drain the transmission fluid on a Mazda without being taken into a shop with a specific lift etc..to which I informed him I had just watched multiple YouTube videos of people doing it at home. He then said he didn't actually have any transmission fluid with him.. then told me he didn't think I needed it and started my car and said it was running right now (which was clearly not what the issue was) and then had the audacity to charge me 40.00.. I was feeling weary of arguing this because now this guy knew where I lived and it all felt so awkward and wrong. Who shows up without any proper tools, never running a diagnostic and whom I had to show where things were and correct.. only to have him charge me for wasting my time? When I tried to look up who to contact and report this to I found it's just him! He answers to no one so be aware of this before contacting him. Took him under 2 hours to change out a tricky starter (completely underneath my car, very well hidden, multiple people couldn't even find it), super fair prices, explained what he was doing and all around genuinely seems like a great guy. User beware! Learn from our mistake - pay attention to the other 1 star reviews because they are all indicative of the same larger problem with this company. Mike sells himself as a mechanic, but he is in over his head on anything technical. Mike told us he could fix the AC in our van. After numerous attempts, parts purchases etc..it was not fixed. Even worse, as part of the process the passenger tire had to be removed (or at least he removed it). But he did not tighten it back on, he put the tire on, loosely put on the lug nuts and left. When we went to move the car the lugs were damaged and we were out $400 to have a shop replace the stripped lugs. Once the lugs were fixed we had to take the car to a proper AC repair shop and have them fix the system. I've reached out to Mike for a refund on what he charged our credit card (over $1k) and have requested receipts, an invoice etc..He refuses to respond. He was no cheaper than a true AC repair shop, who fixed the system in less time, for less money. DO NOT USE. read more
