    Remote start app
    Tony A.

REMOTE STARTERS for older AUDI's I searched high and low for info on a remote starter for my B8.5 Audi RS5 (2014 V8 coupe) and found a lot of varying opinions and confusing comments. Most people swore you had to lose a key (read $300-600 extra expense) but others claimed not to lose a key. After personally messaging those who didn't lose a key I did some more research on-line and found... a local installer, Mobile Systems LLC of St. Charles, Illinois and talked to the owner, Jim, who confirmed he could and had installed remote starters in B8's without losing a key. There were a few options, but we went with the Fortin EVO-ONE (and their T-harness) connected to a Viper SmartStart app so I can avoid a fob or having to reach for my Audi key and have limitless range. Jim was flexible, understanding, and willing to answer all my many, many questions. I now can un-lock, lock, or start my car from anywhere (as long as I have wifi or LTE). I kept both my keys and am very happy. Only feature I lost is that if I use the remote start I then have to actually push the unlock button on my Audi key to get in as I approach, whereas before I could keep the Audi key in my pocket and unlock the door by grabbing the handle. I find this a small inconvenience to pay for security and a warm car in Chicago winters. The Viper app does require a subscription since it relies on an LTE service but has price rages/options ($6 or $10/month), with the basic service being free for a year. You can avoid a subscription if you don't mind using a fob or your Audi key but being limited by range. I went with the Viper app because it gives me a lot more feedback/options (yes, its started and running for x:xx minutes more; GPS tracking; and even scheduled start ups) and I can start the car from anywhere. Happy remote starting your RS5!

This place is practicing fraudulent auto repair!!!!…read more 2005 Toyota Tundra blew a brake line. I literally live right behind the shop. Drove it down. There was still brake fluid in the master cylinder when I dropped it off at the shop. Told them the problem. Got a call later within the hour asking me where the brake fluid was coming from. I said look for the leak, put more brake fluid in it don't run the master cylinder dry. Then they found the leak. So that cost a $1000.00 to replace the brake lines. Then I get another call from Real Autohaus saying they replaced the brake lines but the master cylinder has gone bad. That will be additional $500. I told them, frustrated, well I need brakes. Went away for a week and came back thinking it was fixed. I was told the technician couldn't figure it out, but they are thinking the power booster is now bad. Because the brake pedal goes all the floor. The vehicle barely brakes. It is not drivable after $1500.00. In summary, first the technician couldn't find the leak, then they ran the master cylinder dry (which I had to pay for) and they still can't figure why the vehicle has hardly any brakes. Definitely will never return, didn't have this type of incompetence when it was Action Auto. Follow up. These mechanics & shop are practicing fraudulent auto repair. Took the truck somewhere else, guess what they found. It wasn't the power booster. I did have a bad wheel cylinder on the back brakes. But also had a lot of AIR in the brake lines. They charged me $500 for a new master cylinder, that I didn't need. They wanted to charge me $1,500.00 for a new power booster, that I didn't need. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Real Autohaus. They are fraudsters.

They were good about letting him know his options. Fast forward to modern day, I was in need of rear brakes. I searched on Yelp for places with good reviews and used the project functionality. Transtastic came up on my radar again. Gary quoted me a fair price on Yelp for my rear brakes. My first day off of work, I called Javier to see if they could get me in. Upon arrival, the team quickly pulled my SUV into their garage. Javier did a quick inspection to determine if the dealership diagnostic was accurate. Javier recommended that I service both brakes and was thorough in educating me about why my front brakes also needed to be replaced. I left my vehicle with an estimation of 3 - 4 hours. It was completed in less than 3 hours. By the time, I was walking out the door, Javier was ordering my parts. I was satisfied with his communication and honesty in timeframe. Overall, I felt informed of what was going to take place with my vehicle. While I didn't plan on getting both brakes, I understood that the front ones were heavily rusted as so see with my own eye a few months back. This auto shop doesn't have much of a waiting area but plenty of shopping, eateries and even a library to bide your time nearby. The customer service here was superb and I am happy to use this place to replace my brakes. I easily saved 33% coming here versus the Mazda Dealership. Tip: bring cash or pay with debit to avoid 3% service charge.

I was initially taken aback about a $9500 estimate, $1000 of which I paid through my deductible, but all of the estimated workseemed legitimate, but overpriced. After picking up my vehicle, I noticed inconsistencies in the paint and brought it back for them to review and to also determine why my keyless entry was not functioning anymore. They took my vehicle back in and told me that the keyless entry was not related and that I brought the vehicle in in that condition with cut wires on the interior panel. In no way was that possible, and the history of my vehicle shows no damage or related work in that area. In a rather condescending manner, they said to me, "we don't know the history of this vehicle" and wouldn't stand behind the fact that something had happened in their shop to cause this damage. Then, they tried to claim that I was somehow disrespectful to their staff while I remained professional other than the conversation where I was spoken to in a disrespectful manner. I can handle all of that as long as they stand behind their issues, which they did not. I then pointed out additional problems that happened during the repair, including some wheelwell trim pieces that were improperly put back on and had gouges and damage on them. I sent photographs of the damage back to them and they got no response at all. None. After seeking outside professional assessment of the situation, these particular panels are not meant for reuse, and they were wedged back onto my vehicle, thereby causing damage. Attached are the photos I sent them that got no response where they added damage. Luckily, State Farm was helpful in helping me find another body shop to fix their shoddy workmanship. So, they determined fault with Bucktown Auto Body, and I will get it fixed at a more reputable location. I also recommend for anybody thinking about bringing in a vehicle to this particular body shop to also consider a more reputable one to bring it to. I had done some previous business with Autohaus body shop and assumed this was still related. Unfortunately, this business was purchased recently and the previous ownership that has all the good reviews are not related, and a lot has changed, and none of it good. I would take your money and estimates elsewhere.
