I've been coming here for about past 6 months for both of my cars (Mercedes SUV and Porsche SUV) as they're both coming off of warranty and I decided to take it to a Indy shop in lieu of stealership. I know my vehicles very well and I am a member of the forums for both so I know what goes wrong, what will go wrong, what won't go wrong most of the time. I also will watch youtube videos and look at costs of all of the parts so I know what parts are used and what to do to fix it. I can fix most of things myself but I'd need bunch of tools and space and time. I brought my Porsche suv here before going on a long trip to my 2nd home out of state. Had bunch of preventive maintenance done here(i.e. transmission fluid, differential, brake, spark plugs, battery, coils, etc.) NONE of which he did, now I know. I was reading through the yelp reviews and he had good reviews and I am familiar with the area so I decided to come here. I brought him free food and kissed his a$$ royally in trying to build a rapport and trust with Florin. I bought and brought all of the parts here(because I know exactly what I want done with specific parts) and he just charged me for the labor and I don't think he did any of the work and kept my parts for his wife's Porsche suv. I will confirm when I get back to my 2nd home. The other day in trying to give him more business, I brought my Mercedes for oil change and brake fluid(Basically Mercedes B service). It was only $100 cheaper than MB Dealer so really I'd rather pay $100 more and go to dealer. He says he uses Liqui Moly(Im not a fan but I said ok even though under the hood there is a sticker by Mercedes saying to use MOBIL 1 oil.). I get the car back on the oil change it should be 10,000 miles synthetic. Liqui Moly I know is synthetic and change is every 10k. Window sticker wants me back at 5k. Brake fluid he probably didn't do. Why would he? No way for me to know. Here's the kicker. My brakes grind. All of them. I called him and brought my car back and said to him "what did you do to my brakes? you're suppose to only flush fluids". We test drove the car, he said I need front brake job(the grinding was coming from the rear) and to leave the car with him and he'd only charge me $700. Mercedes charges $900. Not a good deal especially since I know what the costs should be. He's way over. I said what part you gonna use? He says OEM MB. In the shop in the garbage cans, etc...You see empty boxes of Pagid pads, Textar pads and Zimmerman rotors which I already know are as good as OEM and that is what I've used in my previous German vehicles without any issues. You don't see any MB or BMW or Porsche boxes. I already know he doesn't use OEM parts ever and he's blatantly lying to my face. I believe that he put bad brake parts on my car. I don't have 100% proof but he messed with my brakes. I know my brakes were good because I had my previous oil change done at MB dealership and they check the pads and rotors for wear and they were all good. He seems like a nice guy, doesn't say much but trust me this guy is untrustworthy. I gave him respect because he's old but do not trust him. Don't come here. If you do, I hope he sees this review and does right by you. DOUBLE CHECK HIS WORK.
I decided to write this review so you don't fall for the same trap. I was talking to one of my customers and he told me that he took his Mercedes here 8 years ago. Florin told him $800 to fix everything, called customer to shop, had everything taken apart then told him he had to pay him $2300(look at all this work I did, etc...).
If he charges you cheap, it's because he's not going to do anything and give the car back to you without having done anything. You need to be able to double check his work after he gives the car back to you. I took him at his word and what a big mistake that was.
Go to Autohaus on Lincoln and ask for Gary. Once again, I found them on Yelp. They did right by me. They actually ask you to write a review on Yelp.
They actually say what they do and charge you a fair price for it. read more
