Apparently Memorial Day weekend broke Moby's. We've been coming here for years, and it's always been pretty good fried food and beer. Our first visit this year and it was a mess. We ordered our fried crab cake sandwiches and fries at 6:50 and at 7:50 we still had no idea when our food was coming up. We ended up getting a refund and heading somewhere else. We were also told they were out of lobster rolls, but an hour later people were ordering them with no problem. We're chalking this experience up to holiday weekend, but this does make us think twice about coming back. read more

As a local we come here a couple times a year. Tonight we had a horrible meal and worst of all we were hosting guests from out of town. Several dishes were not cooked properly and didn't appear to have any level of management on site. Way too many good seafood restaurants in the area to waste your time here. read more

This place was absolutely horrible. Ordered the food the wait was fine. The calamari had no breading on it and the little it had on it fell off within seconds of picking the actual calamari up. The lobster rolls.... Let's just say I'd rather eat Wawa which is right down the road from them. It had lettuce and tomatoes on it. Absolutely throwing off the flavor of the main part, lobster. The rolls were store bought. Potato store bought rolls. Big yikes.... Also the cocktail sauce was a disgusting ketchup and horseradish rip off. Please don't visit this place. Don't give them money. I love stopping here after a day at the beach. The food is always good. Limited but decent selection of beer. Cocktails and mixed drinks are what you expect them to be. The environment is laid back and everyone always seems really happy to be here. They allow dogs on the deck dining area. read more

2 stars for the location over looking the bay and the bridge. The food is not very good at all. Calamari is fresh from a frozen pre breaded bag with the worst marinara sauce ever. Fried clams rival the ones you get from White Castle. I mistakenly tried the "fresh" flounder sandwich for 7.50 I received a hamburger bun a side of tartar sauce and one very small breaded fried maybe 4oz. Piece of fish. The double lobster was okay, but lobster is like pizza even when it's bad it's good for the most part. You are paying for the view from the deck because the food is poor, I realize Bahrs owns this location and I have eaten there as well so I shouldn't be expecting much...best thing I can say of the food was that my beer was cold. read more

I have a hard time giving this place even 2 stars. The quality of the food is just cheap. I went after the beach one day and got a hot dog which was literally a foot long. Way too big for a kid. A chicken sandwich which was flavorless. A seafood sampler that seemed like it was just all frozen and fried. The bar selection was sub par. Sangria was empty. Drove an hour here dreaming of summer lobster rolls and raw oysters... got a few small pieces of lobster in a plain roll for $20 each. Oysters were tasteless. Perhaps the lockdown has affected their operation but won't get ripped off by them again. read more

Moby's is really our go to summer take out spot... We've figured out the best menu choices for us.. The fishermans platter... Steamers.. Burgers, ribs and shrimp special.. This place is awful. From food to customer service. They charge restaurant price with food that is not even fast food quality. The customer service is horrible. People working there are so miserable it start to rub off on you. Is a shame great location but it have nothing to offer. Is a perfect example of a tourist trap. We enjoyed our meal here. They have a large outdoor deck, full bar, decent seafood menu, and also ice cream stand. The view is great. You are overlooking the bay (or harbor?). The bathrooms were cleaner than I expected for an outdoor seafood spot. Staff was friendly. I had the grilled salmon with fries. It was good, pretty average. We also ordered their lobster rolls. We enjoyed these too. They use potato rolls, which we liked, and their lobster mix had a nice and fresh taste to it... like they may have added a little cucumber and tomato. It was good. Came here with my dad and my son. I had the stroller with me. There was no ramp to get up to the deck so I had to carry the stroller up. The deck overlooks the bay and the bridge. You order your food at one window...ur beverage at another. They call you by number and you bring the food to a table outside on the deck. There is no service at the tables. I enjoyed this place. Perhaps it was because I was with my father. I would only come here for the Steamers. They were fantastic! The Manhattan clam chowder was tasty as well. The calamari was eh. Simple, yet just what we were looking for. Outdoor seating, inexpensive seafood, and beer after a long day at the beach. Order food at the window, self seat at a picnic table on the outside deck, and grab some pitchers from the bar. I spent the day yesterday visiting the Jersey shore and before heading back across the river I decided to stop by Moby's and got two soft shell sandwiches @ $11.98 ea.. Each sandwich had two med. sized crabs and were done just right. Moby's ain't cheap by any means but hell, Red Hook Lobster Pound charges $15.00 for a Lobster roll. I was so disappointed because It's by the water but it just all fried or fast food. There is no other option. I was staring at the menu for 5 minutes and did not know what to order. I end up order ice cream only and it was ok because I realize it's Blue Bunny brand. The service sucks as well. Owned by the same people as Bahr's next door, this place offers a more casual experience with great summer food and beer on tap. The lobster rolls are great and come in full and 1/2 sizes. The seating is picnic table style and offers a nice view of the bay. Downside is the bar only serves beer (no liquor), although the tiki bar next door at Bahr's has a full bar and seating outside. read more

Reading the reviews, I was a little nervous to go back to Moby's. I've been coming here for years since I was a kid when a trip to the shore meant a lobster and steamers at the end of the day. We took my in-laws for dinner with at least a little trepidation. Thankfully the meal turned out just fine. Even though it was a Sunday evening the line to order wasn't long. Twin lobsters were surprisingly good- tender and moist. Clam strips were more average, not particularly different from anywhere else. Manhattan Clam Chowder was flavorful with a slight kick. Fries (which I think came with the lobster) were thick cut, crisp and flavorful on the outside, but soft on the inside. All this and Carton IPA on top made it an enjoyable meal. If you go to Sandy Hook and have a beautiful day, you might want to eat a meal outside at Moby's. read more

I'm not sure how anyone calls this good seafood. Almost everything on the menu is fried, which is fine if that's all you want. I ordered a fried clam strip sandwich expecting something like a po boy. Came here for a bite with my family after going to Sea Bright Beach . It's a shack like look to it and serves typical fast food with a seafood kick to it & even serves ice cream and Italian ice . The menu is written on a black board so you stand in line to place your order. As a group we ordered the lobster roll, crabcake, corn, burger & 'fresh local' fish n chips. We seated ourselves on long tables outside and waited for our number to be called on a loud speaker . Food came out quick but was terrible . The crabcake cost 10.50 for a wee tiny cake with nothing on it but a huge burger bun. The other plates came out with greasy fries that shimmered of oil . The 'local fresh' fish n chips were bland and clearly from a frozen box . The lobster roll was ok but ruined by a hot dog bun. The food itself was overly priced and certainly not worth it. The only good thing was the corn that was actually delicious and big in size . My boyfriend later got a cherry Italian ice that tasted like outdated medicine blended with ice. My first time at Moby's and definatley not my last! Great little, casual place to enjoy some really fantastic seafood. Nothing fancy about the place, you order your meal at the walk up window, there's a really big selection to pick from and then wait for your number to be called. If you want some alcohol, just walk to the next window and there's a choice of bottled and tap beers. Seating is on the deck in the back, overlooking the Inlet. I had the crab cakes, fried clam strips and the scallops all all were delicious. Unfortunately, on the way home on the Sunday of Labor Day all my normal restaurants were long waits. We were being impatient so we decided to try this. A few other times I have wanted to eat here, then changed my mind while looking at the menu. Today there was no choice. I got a lobster roll and fries. While the taste wasn't actually that bad, the lobster was definitely not from a real lobster. It looked EXACTLY like cut up imitation crab meat. And it was on a small HOT DOG roll! Not exactly the lobster roll I was expecting. I also ordered a Strawberry Daquiri from the bar area. After being ignored for about 10 minutes (they weren't busy) I finally got it, with about half a shot of rum in it. Again, the box the daquiri mix came out of had good flavor but for $7 I think I should have gotten more liquor. All in all a disappointment that I should have foreseen. But now I know! read more

Went to this back in July 2015. The atmosphere is very nice with the marina near by, an open deck, and a bar on site. I ordered a lobster roll but sadly it was just mediocre. Its not a chunky lobster roll like you would find at Red Hook Lobster Pound or most places in New England. Also, the hot dog roll isn't toasted with butter to give it that final pizzazz. I would come back on one of the lobster nights to try that out as the lobsters appear to be sized nicely and cooked well in the pictures I have seen. read more
