If you enjoy a little struggle with your dessert, this is the place for you. You're asked to surgically open your boba cup with a skewer, and good luck poking enough holes without spilling. The wood(?) straws are either too small for the bloated bubbles or immediately defeated when they clump together, so sipping becomes a full-body effort. As for the mochi donuts: one (the raspberry) was good. The other (biscoff) was impressively stale. 50/50 odds - not terrible, not great, definitely a gamble. I had been here before when it was clean, solid, and genuinely enjoyable, which makes this visit more disappointing. This time, our table had drops of tea on it, and the place was mostly empty aside from a group of very loud, older, regulars who seemed to think we were intruding on their personal hangout. Edit since I can't reply to the owner directly: when asked for a straw, this IS what the girl at the counter provided. Me and a friend came here on a random Tuesday night for early dinner. We were the only people sitting in the speakeasy area. We believe the place just opened when we walked in. It was cool that we got to control the music! The server was nice, she brought us cards to play at the table. We ordered two rounds of tea because the first one just wasn't enough. We wanted more drink and less ice. My friend got the mango milk tea twice. I had the thai tea the first round and brown sugar boba the next time. I liked the Thai tea a lot more than the other drink. We ordered the fried dumplings and vegetable spring rolls to start. We got the glass noodle soup and Thai fried rice with shrimp as our mains. We both wanted pad Thai but unfortunately that wasn't on the menu. I loved the rice actually, it was better than I expected. I would definitely like to see the place with a more lively atmosphere. Overall I would say everything was good, but not the best Thai we've ever had. I would say 3.5 and we'd like to come back to try more things. read more

This was a very cute speakeasy. I enjoyed my time mostly for the ambiance, and less for the food and service. It's not that it wasn't good, but for a Thai restaurant I did expect a full Thai menu, like a basic pad Thai at least. Also, the waitress didn't seem too knowledgeable about the menu or establishment, but she could have just been new. Now I did enjoy the fact we could DJ our own music and sing our hearts out. There were also plenty of card games for us to play at the table. The bubble tea was so good we had to order twice, second round without ice, because it just went so fast. The food was delicious and tasty, but the menu is truly only scratching the surface of Thai food for me. Still loved the experience! read more

Celebrated my 30th birthday as a private event at the 222 Speakeasy, and it was soooo much fun!! Everyone had a great time, and the mochi donuts were one of the best I've had in the city! We had karaoke, a boba bar, and I ordered appetizers for my party. Everyone had nothing but great things to say about the food, drinks, and the super cute venue. The bartenders were absolutely amazing 10/10. Bri was so attentive, and she even karaoke'd with me! Everyone was so accommodating from planning the event to making sure the event ran smoothly the day of. I only recommend that staff works on streamlining communication to ensure that all details and pricing are confirmed by both parties. The owner gave me their work number to text, which was convenient, but it was somewhat difficult keeping track of all the details. They were extremely flexible with the planning process otherwise. Overall: 4.5/5, definitely recommend booking a party here if you are considering. Just give yourself adequate time in advance to plan and finalize details with the staff. I had an uncomfortable experience at this place, December 31st, 2025. While the counter person (approximately 7:00p, for management's sake) was taking my order, they addressed me using a pet name, "love"--twice--despite my significant other being beside me. Regardless of intent, this language was inappropriate in a professional environment and immediately created an awkward and unnecessary situation, in which I had to correct them. What a fun night! If you were passing by Mochi Dolci and its pastel pink exterior, you would never know that this cute mochi donut and boba tea shop is home to a speakeasy (222 Speakeasy) in the back of the restaurant! I was told by my group to meet up here - that karaoke was happening! This was around midnight on a Thursday. It is walking distance from multiple hotels on the Upper West Side, and you can't miss it. Upon entering, the shop was, of course, dead. Not sure where I was going, I walked to the back and walked straight into the space behind the bar - whoops!! I exited and entered this time instead through a pink, classic. telephone booth! This was so cute - a dark room with lots of artificial cherry blossoms hanging and cute velvet seating. Karaoke was going strong with this large group! I believe around 25+ fit easily. The bartender was super friendly but because this was a larger group, drinks were a little slow. I ordered the Boozy Bourbon Taro Bubble Tea: Earthy taste of Bourbon with the earthy taste of Taro. Tapioca Boba included! I can't find pricing but I feel like it was $20+. I thought the flavors were paired very well and it was a decadent dessert for me to end the night. If you have a sweet tooth, you will enjoy this and any of the other boozy boba drinks. My friend had the Strawberry Soju which is a popular menu item, and she really enjoyed it! We were a rowdy group but the bartender was extremely accommodating and told us that as long as we were here, he'd keep the place open. We ended the night around 2 am. Upon leaving, a few of us were the last to exit, and I had one friend who was determined to get a last shot. None of us were for this, so the bartender, picking up on the vibe, gave the three of us a free soju shot (which is extremely light and not a true shot). Mochi Dolci was the closest with good reviews so we decided to stop in and try it. The atmosphere is very cute and the woman behind the counter who I believe is the owner was very kind and friendly. They have one of the best cinnamon ones I've ever had - sure, it's simple, but it had a fluffy balance - and the pumpkin spice with maple was unique and perfectly seasonal. This is a very cute shop with cute pink exterior. In the front, they have donuts and bubble tea and a few tables. The atmosphere feels relaxing and quiet. I came after dinner and most of the donuts were sold out but I was able to get a cookie and cream mochi donut. The taste and texture is pretty standard for mochi donut. I have tried their bubble tea previously and it was pretty good as well, although a little pricy for the area. The most surprising thing is that there is a speakeasy in the back and you get there by going through a telephone booth. The speakeasy is atmospheric with a bar and a few tables. They had an alcohol menu which includes a boozy bubble tea as well as food. I did not get to try the food or alcohol this time but would love to come back for that. They told us that every Thursday night they have mahjong night, and there are various other events throughout the week as well. read more

Cute little boba and small bites shop in UWS. I think the main allure is how pretty the shop looks and that there is plenty of seating available inside. It's the type of place to stop in with friends or your family, relax, and take cute pictures if you are in the area. You can order at the register or via tablet at the front of the store. The tablet has some kinks that need to be worked out - there's a few parts that don't seem like they work, like inputting a table number, printing receipts, or providing you a copy of your order number. The boba is OK - it's made with powder/syrups. It's not customizable except for the size of the cup. I got the "medium" sized brown sugar boba for $6, but there's a small size available for $3. It seems like a nice option for kids or if you don't have a big appetite. There are some small bites available to order: fried chicken, corn dogs, mochi donuts... This new mochi donut and boba shop in the UWS recently had their soft opening last weekend. Mochi Dolci is in the old space formerly occupied by Kefi, a now defunct Greek restaurant. While there are other spots in this neighborhood to get boba/bubble tea, this might be the first for mochi donuts. The exterior and interior space are aesthetically pleasing and very IG worthy. The interior décor is overly whimsical with its peach/pink walls, flower selfie walls and neon lights, and definitely stands out in this neighborhood. The owner is so incredibly nice and took time to chat with us on our first visit. And on our second visit we felt like we were friends visiting. I'm not sure when they will be fully opened for indoor dining; we went yesterday, and it looks like they still had some small construction work happening. Their menu is small right now and consists of six varieties of boba drinks, rotating flavors of mochi donuts, Korean corn dogs, and strawberry Bingsu. I'm sure they will continue to add more when they finally have their grand opening. You can place your order at the counter, at the kiosk by the entrance or by downloading their app and placing it there. During our visits we've tried their Taro the Tiger Boba Tea and Black Sugar Boba. Unlike other boba shops, we weren't given the option of customizing the sugar and ice levels. Not sure if this is because they are still working out the kinks and if this option is available on their kiosk. The Black Sugar Boba was a wee bit too sweet for me and the Taro Boba was not sweet enough. I did enjoy the boba pieces itself and wished they had put more in the drinks. We have also tried their mochi donuts and have gotten the pandan, strawberry and chocolate flavors. The mochi donuts here are very fluffy and had a nice chew. I enjoyed the pandan flavor best as it had a hint of pandan and coconut. If you are in the neighborhood with the family, definitely check this place out. Cute little boba spot on the UWS - there's ample seating inside even though it looks small from the outside. There's two ways to order - at the counter or at the kiosk. It might be better to order at the counter since it didn't seem like the kiosk had the full menu available on it. I stopped by for a boba drink after lunch, so I didn't get a chance to try any of the mochi donuts. They offer the standard flavors but they also offer some interesting flavors (like pandan). I ordered a large brown sugar boba and I enjoyed it a lot!! The only downside was the straw was a bit short for the cup, so it was awkward to drink. This place is really nice, the hidden interior and service was great overall. Boba was great! Our only one server was so nice and everything and we had a blast. My one problem (the main reason why I'm giving only 3 stars) is because of the food I ordered. I got the pork skewers from the appetizer menu. Once the food came out, the smell and the look of it was amazing so I was excited to start eating. However, it was very salty! I never had a skewer taste so salty before in my life. It literally tasted like pure salt and had no meat taste whatsoever. I was just shocked at how they just ruined the tasty skewers by making it way too salty which is never good for anyone's health. I'm always looking for places with great food and drinks. (I come from a huge foodie family.) I lived in the UWS for many years, and ever since I came across Mochi Dolci, I knew I would love it. I never had a mochi donut before, and I fell in love. They have 'classic' flavors such as black sesame, pandan, and taro & playful ones (i.e. fruity pebbles, Biscoff, and s'more). Of course, I tried their other dishes, and, easily, my favorite is the pork belly bao buns. The meat is always tender and melts in my mouth. The buns are perfectly fluffy! Recently, I tried their mango salad and fried vegetable dumplings with sweet chili sauce. A beautiful blend of savory and sweet (not too sweet), fresh, and crisp. The drinks are good too. I fell in love with the matcha milk tea with popping strawberry boba. I never knew that the earthiness of the matcha with the natural sweetness of milk and fruit from the strawberries go well together. I have yet to try the speakeasy but I cannot wait to go with friends. Over this past weekend (Sunday, 4/21 to be exact), I have asked permission (in advance & reserved a table) to work at there. Of course, I ordered food and drinks as I was going to be there for awhiile. The wifi was a bit iffy (in all honesty) but I didn't mind as I was working on something that didn't require the internet. (If you decide to do this, please be respectful and courteous.) I had an amazing experience and I will do this again - solo and in a group! Overall, a very cozy and welcoming spot. The family-run business has my heart and stomach! This place is the gem of the Upper West Side. I look forward to the next time I visit (which will be in a day or two). Honestly a little shocked the reviews are so bad! I got a nutella mochi donut here and thought it was MUCH better than mochinut, alimama, and the equivalent. The mochi donuts here are definitely smaller- the ring is probably a goos 10-20% smaller, but the inside is so chewy and so good. Just the base with no topping would have been good for me. Unfortunately, the nutella topping was just plain nutella spread with these weird caramel bits. It made the doughnut way too sweet and I found myself scrubbing some off. The only one that actually had flavor was the black sesame. The nutella did not taste like Nutella. The handles of the box also came ripped upon delivery. A friend on IG recommended Mochi Dolci. The place is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The decor on the inside is beautiful. I love that their are little positive messages written in the bathroom. I had the taro milk tea. It was not too sweet which I loved. My daughter had the passion fruit tea and she loved it. The doughnuts were good they didn't have much of a variety when we went but we got the cinnamon and the strawberry one. I would love to stop by again to get try different doughnuts. We got a regular Thai tea Boba and taro boba + a pandan and a taro donut. The bobas were very artificial and powdery tasting and a lot of the pearls were stuck together so every few sips I would need to take the straw out and get the boba out. I would skip on these next time. However, I would def come back for the mochi donuts! Perfect balance of chewy and doughy. The pandan flavor was not strong but the taro one was really good. Stay away -wish I could leave negative 5 stars. This place makes every mistake in the book, worst of all mistreating its customers and employees. I'm not sure where to start with the comedy of errors that I experienced. I booked a party of 15 for donut decorating followed by drinks/food in the speakeasy but was met with the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in 20 years of living in NYC. Had to get up and ask multiple times to order, asked 3 different people for water, was given 2 sips of wine rather than a full glass and waited 2 hours for undercooked food. We were told our food was taking so long because they were going to bring it all at once - and yet it all came out 1 order at a time, with some not coming until a full hour after first person was served - and only after having to ask three different employees multiple times. When I complained to the owner, we were given every excuse in the book - he blamed his employees, the computer, his wife (who wasn't present) and then started taking vodka shots with the other customers rather than addressing our issues. We were forced to pay even for the food that came late and orders that were wrong. When we finally got our food, the waitress took my food and put a dirty napkin in it while I was in the process of trying to take another bite. The owner said the servers were messing up because he was yelling at them (!?) and basically asked us to write a bad review. Told us it's his wife's restaurant, so perhaps he wants it to go out of business. Very sad because I want to support small business, and the donuts are good. but please do not make the same mistake as we did. avoid going to the speakeasy in back at all costs. I hope this review will save some ppl the trouble of spending time & money at a place that cares so little for its customers and employees. Amazing selection of donuts, some great small bites (the pork dumplings, steamed were amazing), and the boba drinks were great. Had a strawberry lemonade and a passion team. Not sure what sort of problems they have downstairs but it's really not worth your time ordering from this place.
