I've come back after nine months to try their popcorn chicken bento, which was sooo delicious and worth the price. The portion size was pretty large, and it included seaweed salad, pickled radish, rice with furikake, and an egg roll. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the Oreo crème brûlée drink I ordered. The boba here is on the softer overcooked side, but still decent.

Popcorn chicken 6.95 Drinks ranges 5.5-7.95 plus .75 for actual boba in the drink They have Korean pm fried chicken and pork Katsu and shrimp tempura bentos. Really do appreciate the addition to the neighborhood and being able to get popcorn chicken anytime. I no longer need to wait for the street fairs

Maybe take this with a grain of salt since we just returned from Taipei, the epicenter of the bubble tea craze and Michelin-quality street food at a pittance. I don't know what local NYC standards are for popcorn chicken and bubble tea since we weren't true converts until our recent trip. The food we tried at Vivi couldn't possibly hold a candle to even the most humble night market stands in Taipei.... but I'm still very happy they're making Taiwanese street eats an option here! The pros: - Popcorn chicken is made using thigh meat or other dark meat. Perfect. Run far away from a place that uses breast meat or any such nonsense. - Per the staff we asked, popcorn chicken is made with a gluten free flour coating (I think they said sweet potato). They don't make any allergen claims on the menu, so if you have celiac disease or are very sensitive, I wouldn't risk it. - For some tea options (but not others), you can adjust the sweetness level down. - The staff are courteous, thoughtful and helpful. - If you're into precycling like we are, you can skip the straw (fine for non-tapioca pearl drinks) or bring your own. The staff also asked if we wanted a plastic bag for our food. We said "no thanks" and appreciated that there was an option given, a need for conscious opt-in by the consumer. The cons: - Popcorn chicken and tornado potato were fried at a lower temperature than ideal and were thus unpleasantly oil-logged. I wonder if using sweet potato flour rather than tapioca also increases the amount of oil absorbed... Were they enjoyable anyway? Mumble mumble... yeah. - They offer our two favorite condiments / flavorings, basil and salt + pepper, as options. Unfortunately you cannot combine flavors and both the basil flavor and the salt + white pepper were barely detectible. Neither here nor there: - Order sizes are huge by our standards, the sleeve of popcorn chicken about 2 or 3x larger than the one-person portion size we were accustomed to at night markets. Pricing reflects the large sizes more or less fairly -- but don't do like we did and order one for each person. Unless you eat a lot. My kids are extremely fond of the "galaxy" series made with butterfly pea flower tea, which turns from blue to a pretty purple or pink when acid (e.g. lemon syrup) is introduced. (It's beautiful and delicious, but I'm sure loaded with sugar, which you can't adjust down, and is mostly crushed ice when it comes.) I'm sure they'll insist on a return visit soon and we'll try our luck with the popcorn chicken again. Maybe if we go on a busier day, their fryer will be more battle ready.

I am a fan of their popcorn chicken! Less their drinks. Very fast casual place but rare in New York to find a place where there's seating inside!

The matcha slush, I swear to god, tastes like water. ZERO sweetness or remotely any matcha flavor in any form. It's actually unbelievable how tasteless it is.

3.5 stars. This popular Taiwanese bubble tea chain has lots of locations in NYC so I'm very familiar with their menu. They'll have some competition in this neighborhood with Coco Fresh (located a few doors down) and Gong Cha (one block away) being so close by. Price wise, I think Vivi is slightly cheaper, especially if you factor in all the discounts and various promotions they offer. Also, having a small food menu might sway customers their way. On my way to the bus yesterday, I grabbed a Frozen Taro Slush ($7.50). Like many bubble tea joints, you can customize your drink here with sugar and ice level. My drink was ready quickly and I think I got it in under 5 minutes. The drink was pretty good, it wasn't too sweet, and I liked the consistency of the slush, but I would have liked the taro flavor to be more pronounced. This location has some tables for indoor dining, which is nice. It's also conveniently located near the 72nd Street subway station and many buses. Overall, a nice solid option if your in need of a bubble tea fix.

The service is great a little price but the service me the food and drinks where really good

This location is accessible via A train at 42nd Street Port Authority. Upon arriving there was a woman in front of me arguing with the staff persistently haggling the price to be lowered, but to no avail. Woman, no means no! There are other bubble tea businesses within the locale that may appease your needs, but not this particular Gong Cha whom apologized for the inconvenience of the inability to lower the price on the product ordered. As I waited patiently, I took photos of this business' environment. The staff stated the cash register is not working and currently unable to accept either credit or debit cards, but cash only payments. Ergo, I was unable to obtain a sales receipt nor a drink label printed. I wonder if the staff reboot the register or check their internet connection to be offline as the cause of non-functioning O/O/O. [1] Customer service is average. Well... if the staff can lower the price for one customer why not lower it for ALL customers? Surely, why not make my drink order as inclusion for lowering the price, please? Hell no, of course not! The conclusion was ironclad. In the real world, this cannot happen. As I stood on line waiting for this woman to let go and walk away from her argument I had shrunk to my own gnawing thoughts. I took photos of the atmospheric environment. There is a cute signage: "Bubble tea where refreshment meets creativity." The pink metal water bottle is very adorably cute which is something that I would certainly purchase. Peach green tea, medium $7.25 My favorite default topping grass jelly (aka herbal jelly) loeng4 fan2 涼粉 is my standard request for $0.75 which was good, but not served chilled. At 30% sugar level request, it was slightly higher in sugar content. Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg would shake his head at me in disbelief with disapproval and disappointment for consuming this excessively sugary drink. The peach green tea was not the cause of the sweetness but a man-made sugar embed measurement error. Nevertheless, this Gong Cha satisfied my bubble tea fix as it is now my addiction - in addition to my other addiction, writing. [1] O/O/O = Out Of Order

Ahh, grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 is my childhood favorite dessert and summons nostalgia! It is my mission to search for bubble tea businesses that offers grass jelly as a topping for my primary reason to patronize. It was abundant which filled one quarter of my medium sized drink. The grass jelly topping is New York City standard priced at $0.50 at least there is sustainability and a sense of normalcy. I requested regular ice, but the entire ice dispensed disappointedly melted and the drink became room temperate. Heat wave medium $6.00 Passionfruit green tea with grass jelly, 50%, light sugar. The drink alone was good quality. While scanning the electronic menu the drink names appear very comical and not business appropriate as well as this bubble tea business name Ho Ho Te. The sound speakers is boisterously loud blasting music directly at my face by the ordering counter. The cashier associate was 90% inaudible of her customer service questions due to the boisterously loud blasting music as I had to fight loud vs. loud by blurting loudly several times: "WHAT?" Why would a business intentionally place sound speakers in front of a ordering counter station where customers must communicate their food/drink orders? How can customers place their drinks orders with clear specific description/instructions only for the cashier associate to inadvertently obfuscate by misinformation because the message conveyed was utterly misinterpreted? Communication is vital for ordering and order fulfillment accuracy in the food service industry! The cardboard paper straws available are environmentally sustainable friendly for biodegradable and compostable. However, these cardboard straws taste AWFULl!! The drink selection is very limited menu compared with other bubble tea competitors. Disappointedly there is no Jasmine green tea on the menu. There are some food items. Takeout menus are available for grabs. Loyalty card is available which also serve as business card where the back is printed in gold foil. This business is very accessible by MTA NYC Transit at Port Authority 42nd Street's A, C, E trains and buses near the peripheral of Times Square.
