The bubble tea here was decent. The tea flavor didn't come through as much as I was hoping. The boba was very chewy and flavorful, though. I didn't finish drinking it so I put the leftovers in the fridge for the next day. To my surprise, the boba didn't get hard or slimy, rather, it kept its chewiness. It's decent enough that I'd most likely go again and try other flavors. There's just other bubble tea places that hit it out of the park so that's the reason for the 3 stars. Short Review: Mochi Fresh is, more or less, a boba shop that sells tea mixture drinks and a few variety of desserts and snacks, such as cheese cake, takoyaki, and obviously, mochi. However, it isn't any mochi, it is mochi ice cream. I haven't experience eating that much ice cream mochi, so, I cannot say whether it is authentically handmade on the house or that they may just bought them in retail store and sell it for profit. But, one thing I do know is that they are delicious and, certainly, taste fresh as the name suggested. Other than that, great drinks, great mochi, lovely interior decor, decent price, and decent service. Need to know more? Read below. Long Review: If you're here for the mochi ice cream and some boba drink(s), well then, you've chosen wisely. Upon arrival, the outside isn't as appealing as the inside, but it isn't their fault per se. I believe, it is just the architecture of the whole building design. It would've looked better in white and more smoothed out like marble, but you can't always get what you want. Within the inside, it was what I expected to be, white everywhere. It is clean and sleek in appearance. Right away inside the entrance, you see two cute mascot characters, in which I assume are mochi characters, that looks like they are welcoming you, which I find rather cute. Other than that iconic mochi characters, there is a display case in the corner on the right near the entrance. I don't know what they are trying to do here, but there doesn't seem to be much to look at. Maybe it's suppose to be seasonal or some kind of event that hasn't happen yet, either way, let's move to service. Service felt alright. There were two girls in-front, but from my point of view, they didn't seem sincerely friendly. At best, they were just being polite because that's their job. Which isn't a bad thing, of course, it's called being professional. Then again, when I pose questions, they seemed irritated. Maybe it's because I asked an obvious question like is sesame flavor only available Friday - Sunday? It's obvious because they wrote on the menu exactly that. I can see why my questioned posed can be considered "stupid," but I want to make sure of it because not all place are up to date sometimes (especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic). For example, I've been to a boba shop that said they are out of certain bits, but in actuality, they did have it, but just forgot to took off the "out of" sign because it hasn't been updated. I suppose my point is look alive when working in the service area or, at least, try to be. For my order, I got the signature milk tea and a couple of mochi ice cream. Signature Milk Tea: Lightly sweetened milk tea with triple layer boba which are brown sugar, strawberry, and mango bobas. To be honest, milk tea wasn't anything impressive. The tea wasn't as strong and the beverage itself wasn't that sweet. At least, it wasn't milky. However, the best thing about their signature milk tea is their homemade boba. Such delicate small pearls full of gushing flavors can put your mind in daydreaming coma state. These boba alone saves their milk because one, it compensate the sweetness of the beverage, and two, makes it less plain to drink and more enjoyable. I recommend getting boba in milk teas. Mochi Ice Cream: I got Sesame, Strawberry, Matcha, and Mango flavors. My rank from best to okay are Sesame, Matcha, Strawberry, and Mango. I don't know if they are homemade by the store or supplied from where else, but they certainly taste fresh and yummy to chew on. The best way I can say how it compares to a regular mochi is that regular mochi is more chewy and softer, whereas the ice cream mochi is more rigid, but still soft enough to chew on cause of the ice cream. Also, the ice cream version is less stickier than regular mochi. In conclusion, for quantity of milk tea (with boba)/mochi are B+/B and quality are B/B+. In terms of quantity vs price, the milk tea does slightly alright because of the add-on. You get tripled the amount of boba albeit it is smaller than regular boba. And the cup size is standard for every boba shop. As for mochi, it could be a bit bigger or should just cost a little less. I could easily go to an Asian market and buy 6 mochi ice cream (one flavor) for $3 - $4 bucks and they'll taste about the same. I got 4 pieces here and it cost me $6, which isn't a terrible price (given that you get different flavors and all), but definitely would be nice if it was cheaper. For the quality of mochi, as stated before, they taste fresh and yummy, end of story. Side Note: I can't tell people what to do, but I can give them advice and they can take it however they want. I recommend the staff member that works in front to avoid chit chatting in a different language other than English or whispering because from a customer point of view, it looks like they are judging them or talking (bad) about them. If you've never had boba before, go here for your first time! This place will set a new standard for what boba should taste like. I had the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with no sugar added and it was perfect. The tea was smooth and the boba was sweet enough to make each gulp a perfect blend of tea and sweetness. I feel like if I had added sugar the drink overall would have been too sweet. However everyone's tastebuds are different. Experiment with the different customizations and discover what you like. Now for the interior. It doesn't match the neighborhood at all! So if you look up where this place is and are wary of the area, you're not wrong. Popped in on a Saturday mid-afternoon after my friend heard about this place from a co-worker. The interior is simple but very cute at first glance. We had good timing so no line~ The girl at the counter greeted us and offered a sample of the grapefruit green tea. Typically I am not a huge grapefruit fan and my friend is not a fruit tea fan... but it we both agreed it was REALLY good! I ended up ordering an osmanthus oolong green tea with cheese foam and boba. The cheese foam drinks are all automatically a large. The boba is fresh and soft and chewy (super good). I especially liked that my tea was not overly sweet and I enjoyed it a lot. My friend ordered the brown sugar milk tea which comes with boba automatically. As expected from BROWN SUGAR tea it was very sweet haha but overall good as well. We shared some takoyaki as they had 50% the brown sugar milk tea with an order and we wanted a snack. I liked the takoyaki as well- slightly undercooked for me personally, but tasty and had plenty of bonito/fish flakes on top +nori. Overall, excellent tea and fresh chewy boba~ Takoyaki was a nice bonus (fresh and hot)! I can't wait to come back and try some of their other menu options! Other than tea they have fresh mochi and mochi ice cream, as well as other snacks and desserts.
