Wow this place was a great find. I got the taro smoothie for $6, and it was a nice and smooth blend of milk and fresh taro. It was so good!! My friend got the signature tea with 3 different types of boba. The boba was chewy and actually tasted like strawberry, mango, and brown sugar. Apparently the boba was handmade, which just made them even more impressive. Highly recommend checking out this place if you're ever in the Tempe area. read more

TL:DR - Milk tea with bits of mochi vs tapioca boba. I definitely prefer the tapioca I've learned. But that doesn't mean this place doesn't do mochi milk tea well. Not really my cup of tea (eh eh). My friend recommended this place when I asked for boba recommendations, so I assumed it was regular tapioca boba. It wasn't until getting here that I realized they use mochi instead of boba. So that's on me. For what it is though, it's pretty good. We got the signature milk tea, as it was apparently their most popular. It was loaded with ice (which again, our fault for not asking for less ice) and the milk tea itself was pretty good and not overly sweet. The mochi part was something I wasn't used to and I still strongly prefer the traditional tapioca boba. The mochi boba was just too soft when I'm expecting some more chew. Also the flavored mochi was did not go well with the tea. So 4 stars cause they do what they do well, even though it's not my preference. My last critique is I'd wish they would put it somewhere (or at least somewhere more prominent if it is posted) or at least tell you that there's an extra charge for using your credit card on purchases under $10. The strawberry boba is so fresh and unique! As an LA native, I've tried a fair share of boba shops. The Mochi Fresh Strawberry Bubble Milk is like nothing I've ever had before. The homemade boba pearls are chewy with a wonderfully fresh strawberry flavor. It's nothing like the artificial tasting strawberry popping boba topping from Yogurtland. I would honestly eat this boba by the bowl if I could. The strawberry milk is also super creamy and light. The only downside of how delicious it is is that I can't speak to any of the other drinks -- I'm too loyal to the Strawberry Bubble Milk! It's just magical. Ordered the traditional fruit mix tea today, it was tasty with a good variety of fruit inside the tea. You are only able to adjust the sugar level to 50% or 20%, would be nice if they would allow the sugar to be 25% instead. I also ordered the mochi ice cream. I have come previously to Mochi Fresh and they had mochi without ice cream, but now the mochi only comes with ice cream inside. I'm glad I did! Mochi Fresh is a cozy clean spot in a sleepy little plaza. We ordered the Brown Sugar Bubble Milk and Osmanthus Oolong Tea for our first taste of this place. The Brown Sugar Bubble Milk (only milk with no tea or caffeine because I wanted to be able to sleep later) tasted like malt-flavored Vitasoy which I'm all about. That's the taste of my childhood! I'd pass on the Osmanthus though. For all tea drinks, I think a tea lounge by the initials of FTL does tea best. Don't fight me on this. Anyways, come here! This place is adorable it's fun and the staff were all very friendly. They not only have a lot of different tea options but food and desserts as well. We were just here for the boba. I decided to try the the fancy milk tea without the egg pudding. They have the best boba I've ever tried it was really good. I wasn't a fan of the taro jelly in it but I'll order it again without. The taro milk tea was really good. I have tasted several taro teas before but this one is the best! I can definitely understand why you use real taro instead of powder. The fruit tea was nice and refreshing, I would definitely recommend it on a hot day! The only thing that was disappointing was the mango bubbles in mango milk tea, and the flavor of it. I think the strawberry boba was best, and black sugar boba was worst. (I actually wouldn't get black sugar boba again) We were very happy with the drinks, but disappointed that they didn't have free Wifi. Wow. After coming to this place I had to rethink how I rate boba tea. The drinks are made fresh here, they don't use the powder mix. They use organic and local milk from Danzeisen Dairy. The bobas are handmade and they use real fruit. Prices are higher here but so is the quality. On Veteran's day they had a buy 2 get 1 free offer so my gf and I had the opportunity to try three drinks: taro milk tea, mango green tea, lychee green tea. They were PERFECT! They had just the right amount of sweetness and boba/jelly/ice ratio. The facility was clean and nicely decorated. I decided on their signature bubble tea, 50% sweet with soy milk. I also had a sip of the banana milk. The signature tea was very good! It had an even balance of tea with milk, and 50% sweet was just right for me mixed with the sweetness of the three boba varieties. The signature milk tea will come with brown sugar, strawberry and sesame boba. Out of the three the strawberry was my favorite. I could taste the fresh strawberry in it and the balance of sweet and tart was just right. The boba itself was super soft and chewy. The soy milk was rich and creamy, I didn't miss not having it with regular milk at all. After chatting with the owner(?) it was apparent he takes great pride in providing a high quality product and serving his customers the best of the best. He noted that he never reuses boba the day after because it just doesn't taste the same. The banana milk I tried was also really delicious. I love boba but I don't like how there's so much sugar in these drinks and I do feel like mochi fresh does a great job of using more natural ingredients and even making their own boba. It makes me feel a little less guilty? Haha! Plenty of great choices of drink all used with local fresh milk and in house homemade boba. They even make their own mochi too! I went with the Coconut Milk Tea which has a lighter, less sugary taste that feels a bit more healthy. The boba has a nice texture that isn't much different than the typical boba at most places. The thing I like is they don't use any powders for flavors. It's all fresh fruit which is the way it should be made. The real differentiator is their flavored Boba options which were exceptional. The mango and strawberry boba was great to compliment and heightened the flavor of the strawberry smoothie and mango green tea. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly. The decor was a crossover between Taiwan and Japan, lots of cute decor for social media posts and pics. There was limited seating, so not necessarily good for large groups beyond 4 at a table. The 1st place that makes their own boba in AZ?!? Shut the front door! I'm here for it and so is my stomach! They make their own boba, use fresh fruit and real dairy. They do use coconut water or soy milk upon request for those who are dairy intolerant. They have a variety of flavored boba inclusive of black sesame, strawberry, mango, match and black sugar. This place is relatively new and is nicely decorated! I ordered the signature milk tea which comes with your choice of 3 different boba flavors. I opted for black sugar, black sesame and strawberry. Even though I forgot to adjust the sweetness, it wasn't that sweet which I loved! The sweetness from the boba was more than enough. The flavor of the boba actually taste as advertised. None of the flavors were too strong or overwhelmed the milk tea. The tea had a great flavor and wasn't overly mixed with milk or half and half like other boba places. My fiance got the milk coffee and he said the coffee was bold and wasn't too sweet either. My sister got the grapefruit green tea which I'm also a fan of too because it was the perfect mix of grapefruit and green tea with the right amount of sweetness. The workers were so nice and gracious. It took awhile to get our drinks but I'm not complaining, especially knowing it is made to order. The small milk tea is a little pricey at 5 and a large is priced at 6 but knowing it is fresh and made to order, I'm okay with these price points. After reading through the reviews, I had high hopes. TBH, what keeps me coming back are the T-Mobile Tuesday deals and that fact that it's pretty close to home. I assume it was a one-off but haven't ordered it again since. - Mango Fruit Tea: This one was a little better. I like that there's actual mangoes in it but there were shreds of mangos instead of chunks. That threw me off a bit. I liked the mango boba. - Thai Tea: It was good, but nothing special. - Peach Fruit Tea: It was oddly sour and tasted watered down. It came with mango boba which was my favorite part. - Coffee Milk Tea: My bf has ordered this twice since it's his new favorite. It's probably the best one I've tried. The coffee and sweetness flavor is well balanced. What I truly like about Mochi Fresh is that they advertise that they make their own boba. Mochi fresh has the perfect variety of flavors from tea to blended fruit drinks, as well as some of the best textured boba pearls I've had. My go-to drink? Wintermelon green tea with brown sugar boba. Very satisfying, but not so sweet that you feel your teeth screaming. I should also mention that all the friends I have taken to Mochi Fresh have loved it and have mentioned (without me prompting them or asking) that they have really good drinks. So I was intrigued by handmade boba. I like their stand on fresh local ingredients too. I got the signature milk tea with three types of boba; mango, strawberry and brown sugar. The last two were very true to life. My favorite was probably the strawberry. The drink wasn't too sweet. I like mine on the sweeter side but it really did let the boba shine through.
