I liked the addition of the mochi pieces and only wish they weren't so hard in texture. The large is perfect for sharing and definitely seems like a better value for your money in terms of portion size compared to the small size. Would definitely want to try more flavors if I found myself back around the area.

Naturally, this seemed like an appropriate time for dessert. Hui Lau Shan is a Hong Kong-based dessert chain heavily devoted to mango, which is immediately apparent from the display case filled with glossy dessert mannequins identified by little tags like "J3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago." The place knows its constituency. If mango is your religion, this is at minimum a chapel. The Irvine location itself is remarkably unpretentious: cracked, slightly sticky-looking concrete floors, deafening music that sounded approximately 15 years past its cultural sell-by date, and a youthful crowd containing several people whose legs appeared skinnier than my fingers. I felt less like a customer and more like an archaeological specimen temporarily admitted for observation. Being the radical nonconformist that I am, I came to a mango dessert shop and ordered the watermelon with coconut jelly. On a hot Irvine day, it was excellent -- cold, clean, refreshing and just sweet enough. 5/5. The little yellow Hui Lau Shan spoon, complete with cheerful fruit-headed mascot, provided an additional level of emotional support I did not know dessert utensils were capable of. We also had the J3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago, which arrived as mango, pomelo, sago and a scoop of mango ice cream lounging together in a bowl like wealthy relatives at a resort. Also 5/5. Ours even identified the J3 and the watermelon dessert clearly enough that no graduate degree in tropical fruit studies was required. There was, however, one melancholy resident inside the display case: a small bee apparently trapped behind the plastic among the immaculate fake desserts. Outside, Irvine remained warm and prosperous. Inside, mangoes glistened. The young remained young. The bee contemplated mortality. Los Angeles throws pollution into the atmosphere at rush hour; Hui Lau Shan throws mango into essentially everything else. A very good dessert stop after an irresponsibly large meal. They also sell mochi donuts -- this looks like a rebrand Bober Tea shop that's known for their "stir fried" boba. The brown sugar boba in our drinks tasted like the super soft and flavorful boba. My husband and I really loved the boba. But at 100% sweet, the drink was wayyy too sweet that we had to dilute it with water. Next time I would get half sweet. It had a very nice black tea flavor that shone through which is unique from other boba shops.

There was a small handwritten sticky note with an individual's name and phone number for the Zelle payment, which felt a bit odd. To be fair, there wasn't a large selection available when we visited, so it's possible they have other pastries or desserts that are much better than what we tried. However, based on our experience, the item we purchased was disappointing, and the $12 definitely didn't feel well spent. On the positive side, the décor and overall aesthetic were lovely and were probably the bakery's strongest feature. But as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover... and you can't judge a bakery by its ambience either.

Never heard of this place, was introduced by one of our friends. Its easy to find in a shopping plaza. We ordered the fusion shaved ice in the "lovers" size, it easily fed 4 grown people. Now shaved ice doesnt usually have flavoring, just ice and condensed milk, but at Mochilatto, the ice is flavored with green tea or strawberry and it comes with fresh fruit, bananas, strawberries, kiwi, and red bean. But what made this shaved ice different from other places was the surprise in the middle. Two big scoops of Gellato!!! Any flavor you want, we ordered the red bean flavor and it was amazing. We also had assorted Mochi ice cream. Where they were hand made and had flavors that we didnt even think existed. Creme brulee, Peach, Toasted Almond, and Green tea was what we ordered and we were not disappointed, much better than the frozen stuff you buy at 99 ranch. Decor was fresh and simple. Very spacious and accomodating to large parties. very nice and up beat surrounding. and it was great for whether u wanted to hang out or just swing by and grab something to go. Customer Service was lively. Young kids doing most of the serving and pretty fast at it. we got our huge helping of shaved ice within minutes. Overall we think 4 stars is what is deserved! read more

Soooo, this is the first time I've been to this place and I can honestly say I will be coming back here for the mochi... even if its a bit expensive it's made in-house I think! It's a cute little shop with tables to sit and eat your food at in the front part of the store, while in the back section you can shop sweets. I came here with some friends who told me to get the mochi, claiming it was the best they've had. I tried a chocolate, pistachio, and mango. The chocolate and pistachio were great, but the mango was a bit too sweet for my liking...but then again I don't like mangoes unless I'm eating a fresh one. The place was kinda busy when we went, but the line seemed to go quickly enough... I'd really say the only real drawback to this place was that when we went to eat at one of the tables I sat down and put my arm in something sticky that had dried at the table. Maybe this isn't typical of this place but until I go again I'm gonna assume that next time I'd better ask for someone to clean the table first. read more

Unfortunately I broke my cardinal rule of sticking to the specialty of a restaurant if they promote one. The shrimp fried rice was gooey and bland. The beef rice noodle dish was pretty good. The house dumplings were weak on taste also. The Miso soup was pretty OK. The shaved Ice bowl was with green tea flavored ice, red bean topping, and even a surprise dip of gelato in the center. The best shaved ice in town. I recommend getting the classic one. Condensed milk, read bean and mochi, just the way I like! Spacious dining to hang around with friends. Service is quite good and they serve food now. The rice pasta with ramen was really good and my friend liked the house special noodles. All in all, a one stop destination for food and dessert. When it comes to mochi... Mochilato.. You ARE the father.. of delicious mochi. Ok so I'll be honest, I'm a newbie when it comes to mochi. I was introduced to this place by a good friend and after trying it here, I'm obsessed with it. They have over a dozen flavors. I got the cookies and cream mochi. was seriously addicted to this place...then i nearly went bankrupt pretty good shaved iced, i always ask for more condensed milk and they give it for for free..but considering the price they should be able to afford it! it is very sugary, i like that, but i didnt appreciate the soggy mango and overly bitter kiwi i was given the last time i visited their mochilatos are alright, not my favorite all in all...decent place to go when ur craving something super sweet read more

had 5 different flavors of the mochilatos and some shaved ice. plum wine was good. tiramisu, toasted almond, chocolate peanut butter were bleh. i can't even remember the 5th flavor. the shaved ice was flavorless and the red beans are not sweet. very beany. the gelato is not real heat-pasteurized gelato. it's just ice cream. if this place were half the price it would deserve 3 stars. read more

As for the menu, it has all of the same delicious treats to offer - a terrific collection of their signature bingsoo flavors, including both their classic and seasonal offerings, mochi and liege waffles, coffees, and specialty lattes and drinks. The one thing I don't recall seeing listed that I remember from before is matcha, but I can't say I was looking for it either. -- MELON LIME BREEZE - Honeydew Base, Fresh Melons, Lime Zest, Condensed Milk, and Vanilla Ice Cream This is one of their specialty flavors that they rotate in, but they need to make this one of their regulars because it is SO GOOD! Between the melon base and fruit, plus the lime zest, this tasted so refreshing. Plus, I LOVED the creaminess from the vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS! -- MANGO PARADISE - Milk Base, Housemade Mango Puree, Fresh Mango, Coconut Flakes, Condensed Milk, and Vanilla Ice Cream Not as amazing as the Melon Lime Breeze, but no less delicious. The taste of mango in this was really strong and, combined with the vanilla ice cream, condensed milk, and coconut flakes, kind of reminded me of Mango Sticky Rice (without the rice). -- MATCHA STRAWBERRY - Matcha Base, Housemade Strawberry Puree, Fresh Strawberries, Condensed Milk, and Matcha Ice Cream You could argue this is a little "basic", but there's a reason why this is a classic sort of combination. The Strawberries and the puree weren't overly sweet and balanced nicely with the taste of the matcha (flavorful with just a slight bit of that earthy flavor). Beyond the bingsoo, the other awesome thing about this place has been the service. While I do think it's a little better at their location in Costa Mesa, the workers have always been friendly and get orders out fairly quickly. Really, the only "knock" is that they don't come around to clear off tales as fast, which can be problematic when seating gets scarce (mostly at nights and on weekends). Of course, it would be nice if customers bussed their own trays/dishes when they're done and brought it to the little window/shelf at the back, but that's not exactly something that can be (nor should be) relied on either. Considering how much I've enjoyed our visits to this location just as much as their spot in Costa Mesa and how I rounded that down from the same FOUR AND A HALF STARS, it seems only fair that I round up for this one. Although, truth be told, I love Heybings so much, I will take them however I can have them, regardless of whichever of their locations I need to go to!

Ordered the Large Mango Paradise ($14.50), Single Strawberry Delight ($8.50), and Single Black Sesame ($8.75). All three were super refreshing and came with a generous amount of toppings. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite because they were all delicious, especially on a warm summer afternoon. The bingsu was light, refreshing, and perfect for sharing. Disposable paper cups and utensils are available by the register for self-service, which is convenient if you're sharing your bingsu. There is parking directly in front of the restaurant shared with the other businesses but it does tend to fill up. Underground parking is also available and is shaded. Overall, another great Heybings experience!

(it has NEVER been that light) i'm confused,. because if you yourself know that it doesn't look right, why should one pay an additional cost to have it be made correctly? overall the experience left a sour taste in my mouth and unfortunately i don't know if i'd come back. i'd warn customers before buying this so they know their lattes are not consistently made.

The breakfast burrito was surprisingly good for a coffee shop. It seemed freshly made with fresh salsa. I was impressed by the flavor and quality. The coffee was good and I got it quickly. Service was speedy and friendly. I do think they could use some help. It was a pretty busy morning and I only saw 2 girls working but they were hustling and getting it done. There is minimal indoor seating and a good amount of outdoor seating right outside and all over the business center. The shop itself is super cute, modern and clean. A great location for people to grab a quick cup of coffee or breakfast.

Kiosks and online orders allow for efficient and fast service without the need for interaction. But there seems to be some issue with either the online system and orders, orders and staff, or a combination of all. Other coffee and drink places are able to efficiently do this, just wondering why there are always difficulties and rude attitudes/behaviors when customers have to ask the staff where their already-made drinks are.
