District meets the suburbs…read more I've been to the locations on Magazine and Harrison several times but 1st time I have been to this one. This one feels like a chain restaurant (which it now is) and has no real personality being pinned in between a bike shop and a Jersey Mike's inside of strip mall. The kolaches at District are really good. They have a variety of flavors, I usually get a smoked sausage, cheese and jalapeno which is tasty but this time I got a brisket boudin and cream cheese kolache in a collaboration with Gonzo's. This was phenomenal. I also got a regular glazed donut. This was not that good. It's too dense and too thick. I like my glazed donuts to be light and airy; I want it to almost melt in my mouth. All of District's donuts are thick. Most of them are good especially the banana pudding donut. The issue is these aren't really donuts more like cakes or just a dessert. If you are coming to get your order to go this place is fine but if you want to hang out, I prefer the other locations.

I'm not saying District Donuts did the same for me but I'm also not not saying that. This was only my second time here, but I already knew what I was coming back for: that almighty hot chicken & honey butter biscuit. If you don't know, it's a French toast-style biscuit with a 'hot' fried chicken breast and honey butter. Yeah... it's as crazy as it sounds. And yes it lives up to it. I'll admit--it was a little big-back of me to try to take that down solo, so I shared it.... This time We also tried a salmon kolache (really solid), and I grabbed a ramen kolache to go. Creative menu, that actually works, nothing feels like a gimmick, like it has become at Crumbl Cookies [yea they caught a stray] The space itself is clean, well-designed, and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. They were even training a new hire while keeping everything moving smoothly, which says a lot. I enjoyed this place so much I ended up buying a shirt and a bag of $20 coffee. I never do that, but I needed to take something with me that I couldn't eat, just to represent some good food and my hometown. Some of the best breakfast-style food in the city, easily. The beef and shrimp yakamein was $14,99, but only came with 4 small pieces of beef and one shrimp. When I asked the lady at the front desk, she said that they are pre-filled and always had plenty of meat. That was unfortunately not the case for me. It also only came with half of an egg and not a whole egg, which kind of surprised me. I was so excited to visit, but left highly disappointed in the quality of food during my experience. I do want to give them another chance during the week, but I'm not sure it's worth the drive. My total came to around $20 for the yakamein and donut and there is ample free parking. The lady at the register was nice, however I wish she offered a solution on me being shorted on meat.

I ordered at the counter as soon as I walked in, as there was no wait. The interior is a bit small, but there is hightop seating against the wall. My order was ready quickly and I decided to enjoy it right there on the spot since there were several stools available. The mango sticky rice was amazing! In the cup, it looks like a lot for one person, but I easily devoured. I'm interested in their other items as well as their rotating flavors. I'm coming back!

The shop is spacious and well-appointed. It feels modern and inviting, with lots of space and a gorgeous display of their products, which range from traditional cake doughnuts to some beautiful brightly-iced options to some fancy ones that include Oreo crumbles or mini marshmallows. There are plenty of options, even for the pickiest palate. The apple fritter is just perfect. Light, crispy, fluffy, cinnamony, not too sweet, just the right amount of apple. Divine. The people working here are just lovely, too. Very kind and friendly, prompt, and generous. We were gifted a few extra doughnut holes since we stopped in very close to the end of the day (oops!)
