If you're not sure about flavours, call & ask them like I did - clear good explanations for each flavour available on the day you place your order. I ordered 6 flavours - Black Sesame, Elote, Tres Leches, Mangonada, Churro & Original Glaze. I thoroughly enjoyed each & everyone of them! Mochi donuts are chewy & sweet. How to best enjoy them - because they come in several flavours, you'll really want to try all of the half dozen or more you order. I'd highly recommend you cut up each donut with a steak knife (better cut & makes it easier) into 4 pieces. Then try each flavour out. Eating one whole one by itself could actually ruin the experience of enjoying the rest of them. Put the rest away at room temperature for later. If you put them in the fridge overnight, warm them up slightly before eating them. Keep in mind that this is a very delicate to the palate treat & not like regular donuts you might have weekly with coffee. The Vancouver location isn't a walk in and sit down shop, instead you have to order through phone and pick up your order from a door. The donuts are really chewy and I like that you can rip them apart easily to share. It's a good balance of salty-sweet dough but my favourite is definitely the mochi texture. I don't usually eat a lot of sweets so the glaze on top can be a bit too sweet for me (I got mango, and peach oolong flavours). i've enjoyed mochido donuts at the night market and consider them one of the best offerings there. i've also had mochido donuts at muji, and picking them up at their commissary kitchen on laurel street in vancouver, however, was a very different experience. nothing can compare to the taste of a freshly fried mochi donut at the night market, which is definitely worth the wait. its hot, crispy goodness that's fun to share, and pull apart. i happened to be at the location to pick up buttercrumbs cookies, and on a whim, decided to call mochido and place an order for two flavours: black sesame and kopiko. in just a few minutes, an employee came out with my order, and after a quick tap to pay, i had my donuts. between the two flavours, i found the kopiko (coffee flavour) to be my favourite. although the donut wasn't warm and crispy like the ones at the night market, it was light, soft, and had a pleasant chewy texture. read more

This location is by far the worst. If there was a negative star to leave for this exact location i'd leave it. Let me elaborate. To my surprise my friends and i were surprised to see them on an app called too good to go. We were ecstatic they were on there .. thinking why not support a buisness we like which tastes good and in addition support them by preventing food waste. If any of you reading this isn't too aware of what "too good to go" is .. it's actually a great supporter that has an app that you can help support the restaurants/businesses you love by helping them prevent food waste. Not sure if it's an operations error but when you choose to want others to help support your buisness etc and food waste while leaving that pickup window of time. I really sure hope you know it makes sense (you'd also be reachable if a customer tries to contact you after making an order.) In addition have awareness that your posting after a pickup window already started. My order got confirmed at 618pm. As i'm commuting down to this location i called at 623pm nobody answered. (yes i'm aware the store was closed at 6) you'd think that they'd still have a means of communicating with people that are helping them prevent food waste. I arrive at the destination. No staff was there and no order was there either. Oh right no phone call to notify me that they (quote on quote) didn't actually have any overstock. If you are able to send some random text at 641pm ... you'd think you can call a customer right?? Had the opportunity to finally try Mochido! They're mostly known for their mochi donuts in which the texture is quite chewy. I ordered the box of 6 ($16.95) with their June flavours: Churros, Cookies & Cream, Coconut Ube, S'mores, Salted Brown Sugar, and Black Sesame. All of them were pretty decent, but I think the cookies & cream and churros was my favourite. The cookies & cream had a lot of Oreo bits and I liked that there were many textures that went into a single donut. Churros -- I liked it solely for the taste. It tasted exactly like churros you would find at amusement parks, except with a chewier base (due to the mochi donut itself). I didn't really enjoy the salted brown sugar donut as it was a little bit too salty for my liking. However, the butter taste was pretty strong and this one would be a good option for those who prefer savoury-style donuts. Overall, I found this quite pricy (comes down to ~$3/donut) and not super worth for the money as the donuts itself are not too big either. With a huge hype on social media about this place my wife and I decide to give it a shot. It did not disappoint. There are couple reasons why I give it a 3 instead of 4. Mochido"nut" - 3.5/5 the donuts are delicious. It got the fluffy texture like the bubble waffle but also chewy at the same time. My only advice is to eat it while it is hot or else it taste different after you microwave it. Many people will say "same goes with any other bakery or donuts". I believe part of it is right due to there are donuts out there that taste amazing after 20-30sec in the microwave aka Mello donuts. My wife and I both agree that their original mochido tasted amazing and we would go back for more. The rest of the flavor really depends on what your taste preference is. Top 3 for me were 1) original 2) black sesame 3) taro crunch . Being super picky I felt salted brown Butter was a little too salty. Suggestion to the owner- there are flavor mochi out there. I feel if you incorporate that towards the mochido that will enhance the flavor. For example: taro mochi in taro crunchy mochido. Service - 3/5 I feel they need to be a little more organized. Staff are great and helpful but there were couple customers left due to lack communication at the front. The flavours I picked: Durian mochi x2 Chinese donut Black sesame Salted egg yolk Churro Durian is pungent - better than expected cuz you can actually taste the durian! The black sesame is very sesame. Like the black sesame pudding. Chinese donut has an intense pb taste - plays off the sweet and savoury. Pork floss on top. It's basically the same ingredients as the chinese donut rice roll so flavours are spot on as expected! Churro was basic but solid. Salted egg yolk was my favourite! The pick up location is SUPER inconvenient though. Theres very little parking available (it's an industrial area so the spots are all filled), and the area has limited street parking too. Mochido's pick up service can be improved though. Even though you preorder for a pick up time, when you arrive you have call for service (it's on a tiny post it on the door LOL). And then you wait while they put your order together. It took about 20min for me to get my preorder. After seeing SO many posts about mochi donuts, I just had to find some in Vancouver to see what the hype is all about! However, I made the mistake of not eating them right away while it's still fresh darn stomach. Supposed to have a separate stomach for desserts but apparently my lunch took over both spots so I didn't get a chance to try it until late at night. The first one I tried was "Easter bunny" - purposely got this one for the many #Easter collabs but of course...I forgot to take a picture when I had good lighting ‍ no solo picture but it's probably for the better since I made a mess. I do like the texture of mochi donuts but aside from that, I don't really see what the hype. It's just soft and chewy and very sweet on the top! I ate the buko pandan and black sesame the following days. While it didn't have that same "freshness", it wasn't stale so I was still able to enjoy it. I was quite looking forward to the pandan since we don't have that in Saskatoon (that I've seen) and gotta say, I don't see what's so special about it ‍ I do want to try a different dessert that's pandan flavour to get my full verdict on it though. I also got the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk and panna cotta. Can you believe this was my FIRST caffeinated drink out of my 5 days in Van?! First time trying mochi donuts and it was pretty good. I tried the original, churro, and HK waffle. My favourite was the HK waffle, although the amount of biscoff cookie crumble varied on this one. The original was also good too. Churro was disappointing as it actually didn't taste like very much. The ones with glazes were definitely better. Overall the chewy texture was interesting. I recommend pre ordering your donuts ahead of time so that it's a quick pick up. I didn't realize it was at a commissary kitchen, so I had to call them to come down and order and then waited about 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready. We got two boxes (1 dozen total) of randomly assorted mochi donuts from Mochido. They were super chewy, light and stretchy. They taste best warm and fresh out of the oven so eat them super fast when you receive them. I love the texture of them and they taste very similar to the ones I had from Mochill in Japan town of SF. I was the most excited about the black sesame though the icing was so much thicker than what I expected and compared to the one from Mochill so I was a bit disappointed there. But overall the entire texture of all donuts were amazing. Most of them were really really sweet but they're donuts so what can you really say? My favourite was probably the lychee snowflake. As soon as I took a bite out of it I instantly craved my favourite bbt: grapefruit green tea with lychee jelly LOL. The taste of this donut tasted EXACTLY like lychee jelly. So impressive! We also ordered a strawberry milk and it tasted so yummy. I'm slightly lactose intolerant but I really wanted to try it. Tasted a little but too sweet but the strawberry purée tasted extremely fresh. They're located in kind of a weird location - they don't have any seating inside their store and you have to wait in a line outside their door while they prepare your order and bring out your boxes. This spot has been popping up all over my social media and I was interested in trying them too until I learnt that they've been selling out within minutes of opening their 9am online orders, and with their walk-ins as well. I figured I would wait until the hype dies down but my boyfriend ended up telling me that he's been trying to snag online orders for 3 weeks straight and failed miserably. My competitive internet snagging deal side kicks in so I told him that the next time online orders are open, I'd give it a try alongside him and lo and behold, my payment went through while he was dealing with a frozen screen. I didn't spend time picking and choosing the specific flavours of donuts I wanted since I was working against the clock, and who knows however many other people were wanting to get that box of mochi donuts so I opted for the assortment box instead. It turned out to be a great choice since we got to try some of everything. The texture was perfectly light, chewy, and bouncy. We cleaned out the whole box as a "snack" and had no regrets; the donuts don't leave you feeling greasy at all and we should have definitely ordered an extra box because we would have been able to finish that one as well! Surprisingly, our favourites were the salted brown butter, coffee, and black sesame. We weren't actually sure of the flavours (as the box doesn't say and we were too lazy to look up the menu) and ended up doing a blind taste test instead. The salted brown butter was not salty and tasted exactly like salted caramel rather! The coffee and black sesame also had strong flavour nodes which we appreciated. The only downside of this spot is that parking spots are limited and there's only one door so there's not really a designated spot/system for preorders. I was hovering near the front alongside two other preorder customers. The employee took one preorder and two walk-ins; and then on the second round took the next two preorders (including mine) and one walk-in. They also do walk-ins, but I hear the line is always really long and they do sell out quick. Taste wise, these are actually so worth it! A box is $16.95 and it comes with all of their flavours. Mochido is one of the newest addition to the mochi donut craze around Vancouver. They operate out of an industrial kitchen in Vancouver and offer new donut flavours to keep things interesting. You can head over to the mochido kitchen for walk-in or make pre-orders for pick-up. I love mochi so I was excited to try these out. I'm used to super chewy mochi so I was expecting something with lots of texture. Unfortunately, it was not the case. While the mochi donuts had some chew to it, they were not comparable to your typical mochi texture. We tried reheating them according to the reheating instructions and it did help so we recommend popping them in the microwave before eating. Salted Brown Butter This reminded us of caramel with its creamy caramel notes. We were missing some of the salt though because it was on a sweeter side. Black Sesame Surprisingly, this was one of our favourites! Sometimes simple is best because the black sesame flavour in this mochi donut was absolutely divine! It was nutty and had strong black sesame notes so if you're not a fan of black sesame, this would not be the donut for you. Taro This was the one we were looking forward to trying the most because who doesn't love taro? Unfortunately the taro flavour was subtle and it wasn't as strong as we would have liked. It's such a shame when places that do good food or have good concepts have terrible operations. Especially when they have a monopoly locally on the market. The only star they get is for their product. The process for this place is to either: (1) show up as a walk-in, place the order, wait forever (2) pre-order, show up at your pick up time, wait forever If you add additional items to a pre-order, that will add another 30-40 minutes to your wait. It is recommended to be proactive in asking and checking on your order because they tend to forget or not tell you that parts of your order is not available. Some of their staff have decent customer service, but they should also implement a "take a number" system to ensure customers aren't waiting there for the longest time. Sunday April 9th I showed up in the rain to get some of these "highly rated" donuts. I simply just wanted to walk in and order some donuts. There were multiple people standing outside but when I asked if they were in line for Mochido they looked at me confused. There is no actual storefront sign for Mochido so it is incredibly confusing where it is located. There's a very small sign on the door indicating that it's Mochido. So we rang the doorbell because the door was locked, and some guy came outside who clearly didn't work for Mochido told us to call the number on the door. What happened to the good ole days where someone smiles and asks you how they can take your order. This donut shop essentially has a lock and gate for their customers and why would I want to call a phone number to order some donuts which I can't see. So I preordered on a Friday for pick up on the Monday. These mochi doughnuts are absolutely gorgeous to look at, and more divine to eat. I had the assorted half dozen, and my favourite was a tie between ube & black sesame. They were still warm & I don't know how they manage to keep the toppings from melting/ running off. These donuts slap! They live up to the hype and it's no wonder they are always sold out online. It took me weeks to try to get an order in at 9 am on Tuesday. I would try to order right at the crack of 9; yet, I was still unsuccessful for weeks. Someone must have been buying a truckload of them. I finally got my hands on a box of 6 and couldn't wait to finally try them. When I got to the location, there was already a long line. I tried to look for some signage seeing if there was a separate line for preorders. Seeing nothing, I asked the girl in front of me if it was the line for preorders and she said yes. After waiting for 30 minutes, we both discovered that preorders could go right to the door! *face palm* Therefore, if you've preordered, don't wait in the long line like I did. Just go stand at the left side (when facing the door) and let them know you've preordered. I wish they had signs indicating that as I could have saved a lot of time. Anyway, I wasn't expecting much from the donuts as I've tried other iterations of so-called mochi donuts and they were disappointing (the only other place that has stellar mochi donuts is Little Fox Bakehouse in Richmond). However, these donuts were so good and I totally get why people are going crazy over them. My favorite was probably the salted brown butter and strawberry, although they were all excellent. I will most definitely be ordering them again if I can manage to get another online order in! I don't suggest going to the store and waiting in line as you'll be waiting a long time and risking not getting any. But yay that Vancouver finally has a legit place to get pon de ring mochi donuts! read more
