Bored and wanting a snack, I entered Mochinut. Imagine my surprise when I saw not only mochi donuts, but also mochi corn dogs. These take corn dog and introduce mochi filling between the hot dog and outer crust instead of only having cornmeal. The other crust can also be instant ramen, should you want to feel extra unhealthy. I tried an instant ramen corn dog ($5.5). It took ~10 min, longer than I expected. The hot dog turned out to either be a beef-only dog or some sausage since it had a decent bite. The mochi filling didn't stick too much, and the outer instant noodle crust provided crunchy without having too much flavor (the seasoning packet was not applied). Is this a novelty? Probably. Would I be dumb enough to get this again? Also probably.
Love these mochi donuts! And my favorite is the rose one!! Matcha and Ube were awesome too. It's a small store with limited seatings and the staff were friendly. Food:9.5/10 Value: 9/10 Experience: 9/10 Service: self service
Got it to-go. Super quick. Convenient location. They were all pretty good, my least favorite being the Tiramisu. I choked on the cocoa powder on my first bite. I really liked the matcha, the ube, and the biscoff one. If you like mochi donuts in general, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.
These are some of my favorite mochi donuts. They're so soft and chewy, I loved the texture of these donuts. The flavors are very strong and not too sweet, which I really liked. I think my favorite was the ube and my bf really liked the black sesame because it's the closest to a traditional vanilla donut frosting, so if you're not too adventurous this is a good one to try

I have a massive sweet tooth and can confirm Mochinut has the best mochi donuts around! They are soft, chewy, and not overly sweet or oily (the main issue with typical donuts). My favorites are strawberry, ube and black sesame. The store is conveniently located in the back of Gongcha and the staff is really nice. Also the packaging is so adorable, the pink box is everything.
If you've never had a mochi doughnut before, this is a really great place to try them. We ordered a box of 6: blueberry, fruity pebbles, black sesame, matcha, yuzu, and honeydew, and they were all delicious. The texture is really interesting - it's a bit bouncy and oily but not as sticky as an actual mochi dessert. All of the flavors tasted very strongly of what they were supposed to, so there were no complaints on taste. The price was a bit high, however - it's definitely not something I would have on a regular basis. But if I were introducing someone to mochi doughnuts or I wanted a special treat, this is definitely the place I would go.
I loveee this mochinut location. Whenever I have dinner in the area, I usually stop here for dessert. I feel like since so many people order from here, the donuts are always so fresh. The last time I came at 9pm, they were just made and warm. My favorite is the matcha and fruity pebbles. You can take the donuts to go, but there are also tables in there for you to enjoy your donuts. Gong cha is in there also if you want boba The service is just okay, but it's fine because the donuts are that good.
A unique novelty that really appeals to the younger crowd. But at ~ $3.50 per doughnut that novelty really only works for the first few doughnuts. The shop itself is modern, vibrant and clean and there is a self-kiosk machine to order your mochinut. Service is generally quick and the boxes are appropriately sized depending if you get 3, 6, 12 mochinut. The doughnuts themselves are pretty sweet and they're shaped with a huge hole in the middle so you kind of feel a little gimped. The flavors are pretty Asian and resemble what you might see at a boba tea shop. We got the taro, green tea, and the Oreo flavors. They did last pretty fresh for about 2 days but start to feel and of soggy after that. tldr; cute little donuts with a twist, but not worth the price
Came here to try some machine donuts. Was a store split in half with Gongcha in the front and Mochinut in the back. First the donuts. They were very chewy and not too sweet. Just the right amount of frosting on top as to not overpower the taste. Now the service. They have a sign that says 5% off with cash. Ignore that. We went up to order to pay with cash, the one worker there, who had nothing else to do at the point, scowled at us and told us to use the machine which doesn't take cash.
Mochinut is amazing I love mochi donuts. The fruity pebble and mochi are my favorite. Just wish the donuts were warmer, the original donut lacked flavor. Besides that everything was yum. Make sure y get the cheese fried corndog SO GOOD.
Tried their California location prior and had a good time so I decided to checkout the one in Boston. It was defiantly good, not too spacious but good for the area. The staff was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The donuts did taste fresh and were really delicious. The fruity pebble donut was my favorite along with the cheese only Korean corn dog!
Stopped in on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy. We ordered from the kiosk and it was ready quickly (about 5-7 minutes). The donuts are so good and I definitely recommend!
I would say this is a good place to go if you have the munchies or a hangover. This is my first time to have a mochi nut and it's round like a donut but I'm guessing it's made with mochi dough. It is tasty and pretty. The shape is easy for you to pull it to pieces and share. But I noticed that there was an oil aftertaste and I didn't really like that. I'm not sure if it's always like that because we did come in the evening after dinner. But maybe it's not too bad if you get it in the morning? There's an array of flavors and I sampled the taro and the chocolate. The place is really casual a lot of students come here from BU. Check it out. read more
Came here for dessert after dinner after never having had mochi doughnuts before - overall think it's an interesting concept but most of the flavors were too sweet for me (though still not as sweet as American doughnuts). The matcha and taro frosting tastes too much like sugar and not enough like matcha/taro. The tiramisu (bottom left) was my favorite because it was the least sweet and allows you to appreciate the texture of the mochi more. Would suggest that if you don't have a major sweet tooth. Will be back if others want to have it, but probably won't be back by myself. read more

Cute little mochi donut spot in Boston. Ordered a set of 6 flavors along with a Korean corn dog to my dorm and it came nicely packaged and still gorgeous (decorations weren't banged up). Flavors we got were chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, oreo, matcha, ube. Mochi Donuts (5/5): Each donut was so fluffy while still springy with the mochi texture shining through. The favorite flavor for our group was the oreo by far. My sister really liked the matcha and ube, though I'm generally less of a matcha fan. Each donut was topped with pocky or other flavors that complimented the flavoring of the donut. Korean Corn Dog (4/5): We got a whole mozzarella hot dog which was great. The addition of sugar was very interesting and surprisingly refreshing! I'd have preferred if they had a meat and cheese option with both side by side, but this all cheese was also quite good. read more

Quick efficient service. Order at the kiosk for quicker service. Metered parking nearby. Shares a space with GongCha. The Mochinuts were crispy, chewy and not too sweet. They are $3.50 a piece and 3 for $10. The rice dog was similar chewiness. I got the crispy ramen hot dog with mozzarella. The packaging was so cute, perfect for gifting. read more
Their donuts is really but I decided to give their hot cheeto corn dog a try and it wasn't really good. I was expecting it to be spicy from the hot Cheetos but it was lacking flavor. First few bites, there was no meat. Half way through, that's when you'll get a piece of the hot dog. It could be better. read more
Fascinating concept and pricing structure. For like $10 for three you think you're getting a great deal on this novelty... and then think about it and realize you're paying $3 for a ring of sugar and tapioca flour. TBH the price is actually fair I just think it's funny that they're presenting it like it's a great deal when it isn't really In any case I do like the dessert itself and would come back to get it (in fact we have done it twice already). It's something different to try and gives you the false impression that you're having a "lighter, healthier" dessert. Flavors are fun and the extra treat on each of them are appreciated. The texture is light but memorable and goes well with a coffee. Their fried hot dog things look interesting but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I feel like it's one of those things that sound better in concept than they are in reality. But maybe they will prove me wrong! read more

I would not come back here. Mochi donut was overrated and expensive. Save a trip and money. Don't do it. I ordered a dozen. The girl who put together my order messed up by giving me a flavor that I did not order. I didn't find out until I was outside trying to take a picture of the donuts. So I went back in to let her know. She took her tongs without gloves on and reached into my donut box to grab the wrong one out. SHE PROCEED TO PUT THAT DONUT BACK ON THE SHELVE FOR RESALE. Ummmm we're still in a pandemic. What if I was an a-hole and already licked that donut? She should have throw it away. It's a nope. I would not be back. read more

Very disappointed by the service and the quality of the corndog today. I ordered two hot Cheetos corndogs for my kids and the batter came out raw. Yes the center was not cook. We brought it to the counter to show them however the gentleman denied the raw batter even though we presented him the corndog showing him the raw batter and then he raised his voice to us when clearly quality and service was not on par. We tossed away the corndog and I hope management will address this to the server as this is not the quality of service I expect form Mochinut. read more

This donut shop is attached to a Gongcha. I've never had a mochi donut before but I have heard about it. The consistency is a little chewier than a regular donut. I was full after dinner and was only able to order one. I got a black sesame one for $3.50. I really liked how chewy it was! The donut overall wasn't very sweet and I would return here if I ever visited this area again. read more
They have lots of unique flavors for their donuts. Unfortunately, we came at the end of the night so there weren't that many options anymore. I would recommend going earlier in the day if there's a specific flavor you'd want to try. Either way, it's a good spot for some soft chewy mochi donuts. And they look so pretty. Really quick to grab and go too. read more

Freshly made and has more flavors than the OneZo location in Chinatown. The service is so so, only 1 kiosk to ordered and one of the customers was at the kiosk placing order more than 5 minutes. I was planning to order the register since there was no one order, but the staff sent me back to the kiosk since the customer just finished placing the order. By the time I and my friend placed the order, more people coming in to order. Black sesame is still my favorite. It is expensive, $3.5 for each; $10 for 3, $18 for 6, and $35 for 12. I will come back again if I am in the Allston area. read more

A friend ordered this as an after-dinner treat. We were really impressed! The donuts were really light, crispy and chewy. The flavors were mostly not too sweet. We got Oreo, matcha, ube, strawberry and black sesame. My favorites were definitely the Oreo, matcha and sesame, even though they were all good. The strawberry tasted just like a strawberry pocky (and had a pocky on it lol) but was definitely the sweetest one. I usually love ube everything, but the flavor seemed a little muted compared to everything else. They were all really cute and we got these delivered and it showed up great! Recommend! read more
Mochi donuts everywhere! I came to Mochinut straight from Pon de Joy around the block for a direct taste test comparison. The line for Mochinut was very long (~15 people) but the service was well streamlined and it ended up taking less time for us to get our donuts than to get through a line of 3 people at Gongcha. They have 6 flavors including chocolate, matcha, ube, strawberry, and black sesame. The price is 3 for $10 or 6 for $18, which I thought was reasonable given that I've failed spectacularly at making these at home. I got the chocolate, matcha, and black sesame mochi donuts. They were delicious! I liked how each donut came with a cookie (Pocky, pirouette, bear) to complement the flavor -- it made the donuts look more gourmet and was a nice extra treat. I especially loved the matcha -- great flavor. The chocolate was also dark and rich though a bit sweet. The black sesame could have had a stronger sesame flavor. The donuts themselves were chewy and had that fried flavor -- they were very substantial. I haven't had a proper mochi donut since Mister Donut in Japan many years ago, so I was super excited about the new mochi donut offerings in Allston. Mochinut's donuts are certainly a bit heavier and sweeter than the ones in Japan, but they're delicious and I'll definitely be back for more! read more
The texture of the Mochi donut was perfect, not too oily, with the perfect amount of mochi chewiness. However the flavours were too light and sometimes barely had the taste of the flavour it's supposed to be. We ordered kinako (soy bean powder), ube, and yuzu. Yuzu tasted only of icing and I wasn't sure why there were sprinkles on them, would have preferred something relevant to yuzu. Ube tasted lightly of ube. Kinako flavour was regular icing dusted kinako powder...which is the easiest and least skilled way of making it kinako flavoured. I've had another brand that make kinako flavoured chocolate icing so that Mochi donut was very flavourful. They also had a kiosk where you can order and pay without a need for anyone to take your order, which was quite convenient. Once an order goes through, an employee will come and fill the order and give you your box. Pretty cool. read more
This place in the back of Gong Cha. They have 6 favors to pick from. Mochinut are like $3.00 something each. I got the 6 pack for $19 someone. It came with black Sesame, strawberry, ube, chocolate, and cinnamon. It thing was tasty. They were light and chewy. It's worth a try, but I won't come back from more. read more

These are truly the best! They are perfectly sweet and chewy. Nothing like any other donuts I've had before.. I had them for the second time again and they were just as good as the first. The only thing that's slightly disappointing is that I was under the impression that mochi donuts are traditionally gluten free and these are not. Would have been a good gift for my mom who has celiac but I guess not. Still amazing though! read more

I've been waiting for mochi donuts to come to Boston! I was so excited to find out there would be a Mochinut here! There's so many fun flavors but I'd say my favorite would have to be the Ube! Being that I'm Filipino I have a natural affinity for ube to begin with. The donuts are so colorful and beautiful and the texture is nice/chewy. The Korean corndogs are also delicious however I have had better at some places in California. Overall, I'd recommend Mochinut if you want to expand your donut horizons! read more

First time trying mochinuts, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm not usually a dessert person, but this is a guilty pleasure I can get behind. The Ube and Blueberry flavors/mochinuts were amazing: fresh, warm, and crispy. The Yuzu we got was one of the older ones, and it didn't have the citrus that was promised, unfortunately (didn't taste like much). I'd probably just make sure to ask for a fresh one, so you can avoid that. They have lots of other curious flavors to pick from though, so there's something for everyone to try. I will be going to the Atlanta location for impromptu treats from time to time :D read more

Why you should try Mochinut - flavors are super interesting yet delicious - chewy texture lives up to the name - stays fresh (I've been slowly enjoying a box of mochinut and it's been 3 days yet it stayed super fresh which is amazing cause doughnuts from other places I've been to usually go stale after a day) Info you should know: -When you go in the store, you have to go a bit more in to see the store itself. -Ordering at the register requires cash, but you can use the kiosk with card. -I tried looking for them online before coming into the store and the website doesn't do a good job displaying what's sold at the store. But when you go in you can see the doughnuts and the way they are decorated. Caution: -If you don't enjoy a chewy texture, this might not be the best doughnut for you. -It is a bit pricey. A dozen cost $38 without tip or taxes. (I don't remember the price for half dozen / individual) -It might taste slightly sweet (I don't have a sweet tooth.) -The crispy crunchy snacks that are used to decorate the doughnuts might not be crispy. Overall: I think it's worth trying this place. I even think it could be a nice gift for people, since it's pretty uncommon. The location is a great place to eat for dessert, since there are amazing restaurants nearby! read more

Food: Lots of donut flavors! I've been to many of the Mochinuts in SoCal and I noticed that they rotate around 6-8 flavors every few days, however, it seems like this Boston Mochinut maintains the same flavors (which I appreciate more than flavor rotation). You can order knowing that there will be some unique and traditional, less overpowering flavors as well. - Matcha - Fruity Pebbles - Oreo - Black Sesame - Tiramisu - Injeolmi (Soybean Powder) Ambiance: In SoCal, Mochinut is typically merged with a Chungchun hot dog, but this is the first Mochinut I've seen that is merged with a Gong Cha! I love this combo since the donuts can be pretty sweet and there's an option to buy a drink with your dessert. The display of the donuts was very clear and brightly lit (they even sat the donuts in little plastic chairs :'D). Lots of seating and decent lighting. read more

Totally worth the hype and highly recommend checking this spot out! I went with my partner on a Friday night after dinner and the line seemed discouraging at first since the counter was emptied of donuts but do not fear! The line moves fast and there's a continuous stream of hot chewy mochi donuts coming out from the kitchen. read more

Such beautiful and unique donuts!! I went in the evening and they were out of most flavors, but we bought all the remaining flavors to try. We got the krispy, chocolate, and cinnamon flavors. The chocolate was for sure my favorite, and the krispy a close second. They do have drinks such as boba and other bubble teas. The donuts are a little pricier, but it is a good treat every once in a while. read more
These mochi donuts are delightful! We traveled all the way to Allston two days in a row because after we tried them the first time, we were hooked. Mochinut shares its space with a Gong cha, so you can get the best of both worlds. There's a kiosk inside for you to make your order, and they have the different types of donuts on display. There are plenty of options to choose from, such as the basic flavors of strawberry and blueberry, but also more eclectic flavors like yuzu and soybean milk. The donuts themselves are chewy and easy to break into pieces. Perfect for sharing! The different flavors really come out in the frosting and toppings. I would say that if you order these, eat them within a day because they will get oily and then hard. read more

We love mochinut ! My husband and I love to get it as a treat after a long week. We also love their crispy ramen mozzarella hot dog !!!! Absolutely delicious parking to pick up the food is kinda hellish but if you're getting delivery then it's all good haha ! read more
