Definitely a dessert that's on trend right now, it's great that it opened up in Chula Vista! Think donuts with the chewiness of mochi. I believe the flavors change weekly, but honestly, i dont think the each unique flavor is all the powerful.. they all taste the same to me. Lol. Anyways, you order at the counter and the wait really depends. One visit was busy and we waited about 15 mins. Our second visit was quick and our donuts were ready right away. A unique, sweet dessert worth checking out

Delicious! Every flavor we tried was great because the base mochinut is so well made, anything seems to be good on top. I will say ube was our least favorite of the three flavors. Churro may have been my favorite. I give 4 stars because of the price. At $3 a piece it's a little steep. Yes they are both delicious and a novelty but that's at least double the price of most traditional donuts. Mochinuts have a more chewy texture than the soft fluffiness of a traditional donut. I find the extra chews they require extremely satisfying! They are so tasty they are absolutely worth a try, but as for buying to eat on a consistent basis or to bring a box to a gathering they're just a touch out of my desired price range. For their price point I also wasn't very impressed with the atmosphere of their shop. It's quite plain with no decor and nothing in the store other than the ordering counter. They are extremely new so I'm hoping their storefront is simply a work in progress!

Love how you can pull apart each donut. Makes it easy to share!

My fam is happy to have a local mochi donut establishment just down the street. And a Mochinut at that! My hubby and tween were supposed to come home with some boba smoothies, but it seems they noticed Mochinut a couple doors down so they came home with some of these babies instead. And I wasn't disappointed! I love the structure of a mochi donut, easily pulled apart. I was able to sample a little bit of each - churro, strawberry funnel, and peach. They were all good - soft and chewy with the right amount of sweetness. I especially liked the churro variety with its cinnamon, sugary goodness! If you've never tried these, stop in and give them a try. Just be sure enjoy them fresh - they're not great a day old. We'll def be back! Welcome to the neighborhood, Mochinut!

My first time trying Mochinut and I thought it was great! My daughter and I are big fans of boba and teas like the ones they make here. I'm really glad this place is close to our home so we can become regulars here. We tried the Matcha, Strawberry Funnel and Original Mochi Donuts, for drinks we tried the Thai Tiger Tea and Strawberry Matcha Latte, both were very good and refreshing, the donuts were moist and fluffy. We will be returning to try more flavors!

I visited this place earlier this week and tried the Original, Ube, and Mango flavors. I then came back because they were really good and I craved more. I went back in search of the Ube and Mango flavors, but their flavors had changed within days and so I ended up trying three new flavors: Matcha, Pocky Berry, and Churro. There is normally one person at the front of the store. The flavors of mochinut are on display at the front and, above the counter, there are large TVs displaying the Korean hot dog options they serve and their assortment of drinks. Ordering is pretty straightforward, although their card reader looks a little strange. If you have a tap card, you can hold it right on top of the machine. The two times I've been there, I've only seen one person working so I wonder if that's all they ever have. There are little tables to sit at and wait for your order to be completed or to eat. If you order a Korean dog, you have to wait because those are made to order (the wait is not very long.) If you order mochinuts, they box and serve them right there like any other bakery. On the mochinuts: The consistency is really delightful -- chewy and light, without any of the density I normally connect with my least favorite donuts -- and I love how easy it is to pull the mochinut apart into pieces to split with others. This makes it really easy to try different flavors with other people. My mom wishes they incorporated more of the flavors into the dough itself (right now the base seems to be the same for all mochinuts with the only difference being their glaze on top), but I actually enjoy the simple chewy dough with the flavor separated on top. It makes the flavors not overwhelming like a lot of specialty desserts can end up being. I'd rank the flavors I've tried as follows: 1. Ube - I am always a fan of ube. I consider it always a safe option and the ube mochinut did not fail to deliver. 2. Original - Chewy goodness with simple and pleasant flavors. 3. Mango - Pleasantly fruity flavor. The topping is a little stickier than the others so be careful when pulling this one apart. 4. Pocky Berry - Similar in fruitiness and texture to the Mango, sweet 5. Churro - Pretty much just your basic cinnamon and sugar coating. If you like churros then you'll probably like this. 6. Matcha - I'm not a fan of matcha so I can't say this is a bad mochinut, it's just not my preference. All of them had that perfect texture and felt so good to eat!

Welcome Mochinut to the Eastlake community! A tasty addition to this shopping plaza. Plentiful parking and no wait upon opening on a Friday morning. It smelled delicious and 6 delicious flavors were all ready to go. Checkout was polite and prompt.

Came in today! I've tried other mochi donuts before. Mochinut was good. Some textures were more regular donut like then mochi. The pricing menu wasn't working today so that was kind of irritating. Also $30 for a dozen donuts was kind a steep compared to getting a regular dozen donuts at dunkin and/or elsewhere. I did enjoy the mango flavor! The kids enjoyed them too.

Try this donut shop! We have been walking past this donut shop for months and FINALLY decided it was time. Why? Because we love donuts. Now this isn't your ordinary donut shop, they don't have a big ridiculous selection of jelly filled sugar topped donuts but what they do have is a lighter, smaller delicate and very tasty donut. Made with rice flour it gives the donut a chewier texture that we found enjoyable. And look at the beautiful box they pack them in makes a beautiful gift! Try this this place you won't be disappointed. And the service was excellent!

My review of this place is long overdue already, I just remembered to review it when we passed by again to visit our friend who lives nearby. My wife and I got some Mochinut here last Oct. 20, 2022, for our friend we are visiting. My wife noticed that there was a lot of Mochinut out there. We always buy our Mochinut in Convoy and they are very good and very soft, you can tell they are always freshly made. Here they are good but not as soft as the ones in the Convoy branch. Maybe they should not cook a lot of Mochinut here so it won't be left out there to harden if there are not many customers.

I like the raspberry funnel mochinut. Very friendly service. I like passion fruit tea. The drinks are very refreshing.

Don't have to drive farther and this shop opens 9AM; earlier than the one in Convoy. Only got 6 donuts; best eat the same day to enjoy it's crispy, soft and chewy flavor. Wasn't a fan of the raspberry flavored but loved the cookies n cream and matcha flavored with coconut...were so good! Service was quick and great. No issue with parking spaces.

    Chris P.

My kids love them! First time buying here at the Chula Vista location. The selection was very limited... I will have to try Convoy next time.

    Chris B.

Best alternative to donuts, and shareable. I got a variety pack of 6. My favorites from this week's flavors were strawberry cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake. There was no wait at this location, fast service

    Strawberry, cotton candy, original.

Does this Chula Vista location sell Korean-style corn dogs?

Yes, they did when I visited in May 2023. They had cheese, hotdog, and rice cake options for the center (or a combination), and you can elect to have a potato crust if I recall correctly.

I ordered one glazed twist and one chocolate twist, but I didn't open the box until I got home and realized I had been given two chocolate twists instead. I also noticed the Long John had a noticeable thumb indentation in the icing, and the red velvet donut was about one-third smaller than the ones that were on display. It was my mistake for not checking the box before leaving, but it was too far of a drive to go back. One suggestion I would make is to leave the box open until the customer has a chance to verify the order before it's closed. That could help prevent simple mistakes like this. Overall, the donuts tasted good, but paying a little more attention to order accuracy and presentation would make for a much better first impression.

There is only one thing to get here (at least that they are famous for) and it is their Senorita bread. I love taking that first bite when given to us because they are warm, sweet and fresh. It was fresh and tasted good if you like Bavarian Cream filled donuts. I prefer Vanilla Creme filled donuts. I also like to get some creme in the FIRST bite. So I wasn't thrilled. The coffee was the star of breakfast. It was fresh, hot and of good quality. There was a good amount of variety of creamers to choose from, making the $2.49 for a small cup reasonable. Still I didn't appreciate paying $2.29 for a donut that I didn't order that had the filling in only one half of the donut.
