Having never had a mochi doughnut I came into this experience with zero expectations. I got six different flavors and every single one was delicious. The texture is impossible to describe. Yumm can't believe it took me so long to try mochinut when I live right next to one. The mochi donuts were so delicious with a chewy texture. 3 mochinuts for $9 the strawberry funnel cake was my favorite. We also got boba and the korean corn dogs. I had recently tried Mochinut while in San Diego and it was amazing. Step forward a few weeks and I finally come here. The location is reasonably small - as expected. I had a plan of ordering ~8 donuts for my work staff tomorrow. 12 was FAR too expensive and 6 wasn't enough. I asked how much each was individually - as if to buy 6 and add on 2 or so. I was told a resounding NO we do not sell donuts individually. I said, I'm sorry, I can't buy one all by itself and she said NOPE. This is a horrendous business model by any means. I was really excited to come to MochiNut. Arrived at 4:30PM on a Wednesday, their hours state that they close at 9PM. I was surprised and confused to see that their doors were locked even though they had an "Open" sign lit up. They didn't have a sign as to why they were closed. this mochinut is tucked away and a little bit in a weird location but overall it wasn't too hard to find! the store itself is small but decorated nicely. however, i would say that the service was better than the food itself! i got the half mozzarella and half sausage korean corndog coated with hot cheeto crumbs for $6.99. i think the portion size is good for the pricepoint, as the corndog was quite large and enough to share between two people. other reviews thought the sausage was a bit small which i agree, but i enjoyed the mozzarella. i don't know if it was the cheese or the bready part, but the corndog was a bit sweet (which worked out with the salty hot cheeto crumbs). i would say that the downfalls of the corndog is that it's quite oily and the ratio of bready part is kinda thick. definitely hits the spot when you're hungry but maybe not the most amazing korean corndog i've had. what i was impressed with was the service. i was waiting outside the store as it was a bit crowded for the small size inside while they took around 8 minutes to make my corndog. the seats are faced away from the window of the store front so i was just checking over my shoulder to see if my food was done. but, when it was finished, the owner stepped out from behind the register to personally hand me the corndog. i thought that that was really nice and just good customer service :) of course, this may not be the same for every situation but it was very thoughtful. as for the ambience, it was just okay. like the other reviews said, this isn't really a spot to hangout and eat which is fine with me because i don't dine indoors. it's more of a pickup spot. the decor was nice and the signage at the storefront was stunning and eye catching. overall, a 3.5 out of 5 experience :) read more
