I was in town for a conference at the University and this was one of the few restaurants that could accommodate walk in diners at 6pm on a Saturday. The food was really great - flavors really well balanced and great options for vegetarian as well as meat eaters. The duck was cooked to perfection, and my only complaint was that the portion of sweet potatoes was huge while the kale was tiny. They were happy to bring me another small portion of the kale. I eat here often. It isn't unheard of for me to frequent this restaurant at least twice a month. The food is very good and consistent as well. Last time I was there I had the Beef Brisket Hash. This dish was listed under the specials brunch menu. I WISH I had taken a picture because it was a beautiful dish. The brisket was smoked, cut into chunks and very tender. Along with the brisket there were chunks of sweet potato, kale, and other vegetables. An over easy egg graced the top. I added some of the house made hot sauce and got to work! The portion size was just right. There was just enough brisket to have a bit with each forkful of veggies. I also got coffee and a cranberry mimosa as well. The waitstaff was, as per usual, exceptional. They are courteous and do a good job of checking in just enough without being too much. read more

I wanted to try another Farm to Table restaurant in the Fayetteville area, so we found Mockingbird Kitchen through our search. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I had the Ropa Vieja! It is brisket on a bed of creamy grits. It was so good, I ate the whole bowl before I thought to take a picture. I also ordered the roasted potatoes. Yummmm! The definition of southern food. I came here homecoming weekend, a few weeks ago, with a group of friends and it was the best meal I had all weekend. My entree was the pan fried cat fish. The cat fish was flaky and had a nice kick to it. The grits underneath it was creamy and without lumps, just the way I like it. The puree underneath it was super flavorful and the perfect addition to the dish, a 10 out of 10 easily. For desert, my date and I split the Mockingbird Pie. As good as it gets! A lot of research was done for a road trip, and this place topped the list in Fayetteville. After arriving at about 1:00 pm, the wait was about 20 minutes, just as it was promised. Their food is worth the wait. They have a fantastic brunch menu, but I went with an old favorite, eggs bene. With a brunch entree, you also get a side, and I went with their tomato bisque. There are tons of side choices including roasted potatoes, grits, side salads, mac & cheese, fruit and more. It was hard to pick the one I wanted! My eggs bene was perfectly cooked, and the hollandaise sauce was so tasty, I asked for an extra side. I also enjoyed their lovely mimosas, which are delicious and wonderfully priced. Eating here feels like eating in your kitchen; it's warm and friendly. The owner came out and chatted with me for a while. She was so sweet, and it felt like we were old friends hanging out. I ended my delicious meal with dessert. It and the calories weren't needed on my part, but I knew it would be worth it. Their creme brûlée was creamy and heavenly. I usually only like the caramelized top, but with this dish, I ate every bite. Overall, I loved this place and was so happy I stopped in. I highly recommend you stopping by as well. read more

Visiting from out of town because of work. Came here and I believe the owner is who sat me, was an absolute delight. She was very personable and very engaging. I was then approached by my server Emma, who was beyond sweet and helpful. I ordered the Shrimp Cake Benedict but with scrambled eggs... I know, I know, but hey, not a huge poached egg fan. I had the kale Caesar as a side along with the creamy grits. Everything was divine!!! Oh, I fail to mention the three juice mimosa I had. What a wonderful balance between the juices and champagne. They have some outdoor seating as well, which I observed as I was leaving out. It's very cute and quaint inside. Phenomenal place. The executive chef/owner runs a fantastic food establishment. From the front to the back. Service and hospital are superb, with an inviting warm ambiance. The menu has a wonderful spectrum of offerings all excited to perfection. Ingredient sourcing from local vendors of high quality and consistency truly compliment and shine through in the amazing dishes they craft from them. One of our local favorites, and that hasn't changed a bit during COVID. I've had several things on their menu, but the stand out for me is the catfish with grits and tomato gravy. Soooo good. I'm currently pregnant so I couldn't get my usual dirty Tito's martini on our last visit, but I made up for it with some breathtakingly delicious buttermilk creme brûlée after the meal. They serve a really good brunch as well - it's our go-to when we have friends or family in town. Service is great, food is amazing, and currently all COVID precautions are in place. Once we were seated it took almost 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table. Several walked back and forth and back and forth. It later happened with another diner and the same waitress. She indicated she didn't know she had the tables she was assigned to - okay.... Once we ordered our drinks we received them fairly quickly - one loaded Bloody Mary and one regular Bloody Mary. Both spicy and both good even though my wife ordered just a regular Bloody Mary. I ordered the breakfast tacos with a side of bacon because the tacos didn't come with any meat (eggs, veggies and cheese) so it was good with the bacon. My wife ordered the shrimp cake eggs Benedict. This was my first time trying this place after my coworker suggested we have lunch there. I ordered the pimento bacon burger and fries. The burger was really good and home made pimento cheese was also good. I tasted the buttermilk dessert....im sorry I was eating it so I 4got to take a picture of it and get the actual name of the dessert, HAH. But overall good place. Fantastic! What a find this little restaurant is. And with several beautifully prepared gluten-free options. The catfish and grits may be my favorite although I do have to say that the loaded yukon holds any the trio of house made spreads could easily make an exquisite meal.
