They have one of the best brunches in town. Love the fact that they take reservations. It's one of the few local restaurants that do. Mockingbird Kitchen has done a great job curating their menu with very familiar offerings, but successfully modernizing them with a culinary forward POV. On this trip in, I had the shrimp cake Benedict which happened to taste just as good as it looked. I found this take very interesting swapping out the traditional english muffin for a savory shrimp studded cake. This provided an extra layer of flavor to the dish which brought it all to another level. In addition they offer a wide variety of cocktails if you are looking to turn up your early afternoon, I would suggest starting off with the spiked ice coffee. read more

From the first bite I knew the food was incredible. In town for a family matter and so very tired of eating the same old national chain fare I gave this a shot. Was not disappointed. Excellent. Unexpected. Had the shrimp cakes for appetizer, followed by the meat load and the blackened catfish. It was delicious. Simple but really well executed. Incredible! This place is definitely not what you would expect. It is kind of hidden in the side of a strip mall but I would go there every week if I lived in Arkansas. Food was absolutely delicious and atmosphere was so adorable! We tried the fried chicken and because there was a slight confusion in the kitchen with our order they comped a dessert and gave us a discount. Totally unnecessary since we didn't even notice there was a confusion but very much appreciated. The staff was friendly and knew the menu well (lots of gluten free and vegan options). While in Fayetteville volunteering for a community project I stumbled accross this place on Yelp. Unfortunately my colleagues had picked a chain restaurant for dinner so I did what any foodie would do...ate a soup and salad and then called in a to go order to the Mockingbird Kitchen! Now, I'll admit I only went to pick up dessert. The Mockingbird pie. Oh my stars and garters...the Mockingbird mufuggin pie!!! I walked in and was impressed with the openness of the layout and the urban chic decor. I was greeted by a lovely hostess who knew exactly why I was there and promptly retrieved my slice of pie. We chatted for a moment about the restaurant and she urged me to come in and try lunch or dinner where they feature things like duck confit salad, fish and grits, fried chicken, stir fried farro and veggies and other locally sourced deliciousness. So about that pie.... Salted pecan crust with a gorgeous chocolate pastry cream and topped with whipped cream, toasted pecan and chocolate chunks. Holy monkey it was amazing. The salt in the crust came through just enough to be noticeable. The chocolate cream was very well balanced as far as richness, and perfectly bittersweet. The only thing that could have made this better is if they did something crazy like vanilla bean and bourbon in their whipped cream (Hint hint) I could have eaten a whole pie without a second thought. I will definitely return to try some of their other menu items next time I'm in the area and you bet I will save room for dessert. I have had dreams about this pie since having that slice of heaven in a recycled cardboard clamshell and either will be returning very soon or sending in a ninja squirrel to get that recipe. read more

This is the best little cafe making up some amazing homemade tasting foods. Online ordering is so easy and the food is prepared well. They do have a kids menu, it is not online but you can call and place the order. They have a burger, chicken, pasta or you can pick a few sides. We just ordered two sides off the online menu to make it easy. We had the grilled cheese sans pimento cheese, it was crisp and not saturated in butter and cheese. The cobb salad had a few nontraditional toppings like edamame that really added flavor. This is not topped with skimpy deli meat but carved thick pieces of meat. The bacon and the dressing that is housemade stole the show. I had the veggie burger. The focaccia isn't oily like some so the burger was able to shine through. It was a thick patty that stayed together unlike most that fall apart. The homemade pickles need to be bottled and sold. It was so simple, nothing overpowered it. I had a side of tomato soup. It is soup not a cream bisque. It had fresh basil in it that really added a wow factor. It is so great to find a place to eat out right now that is easy to order online and doesn't make you feel horrible after eating. read more

Disappointed in the food here. I ordered a turkey sandwich - it was just ok. Didn't care for the sharpness of the cheese with the sweetness of the rest of it. And if you call it spicy, it better be spicy. The wife's pesto fettuccine was a mess. Oversauced with a scarcity tomatoes and other ingredients. I like the atmosphere. Service was friendly. I have been here several times on my own but went to an Official Yelp Event here last night as well which are what my pictures are from. I have been very pleased with my meals each times I've been here. The drinks are delicious and well crafted as well as the food. The meals are basic meals with a delicious interesting twist. Appetizer was a trio of dips with veggies and tortilla chips, and potato gratin. Pictured is a kale Caesar salad with corn bread croutons, the Ropa Vieja with grits; The grits are the interesting twist for this meal which reminds me of southern cooking, perfect for Arkansas. Dessert was salted caramel homemade ice cream. The ice cream was very smooth and super flavorful. The salt taste was pretty strong, which I loved, but it definitely would not be for some people. I have had several desserts here and they are amazing comfort desserts. The owners are super nice and welcoming and have been hard at work at the restaurant when I've come in. To me that shows they are dedicated to make sure everything runs smoothly and tastes great. Would recommend this to anyone looking for really delicious food. Wow. I had the challenge of finding a venue to host a wedding rehearsal dinner, from across the country. Chef Chrissy and the Mockingbird team delivered over and beyond our expectations. The bride and groom were able to choose from a wide variety of great menu options the lent themselves well to a buffet dinner with heavy appetizers and drinks. Guests were delighted, and several remarked that 'this was the best rehearsal dinner I've been to, ever.' I am extremely gluten intolerant and it's very hard to find places where the food may be made gluten free, but also not contaminated with gluten from other foods that are prepared in the same spot in the kitchen. So, I went there and tried it out to see if I would have a reaction or not and I did not! I had the Idaho Cod and it was very fresh and satisfying. I loved the sauce they put on it (and the one they put with it) along with the sun-dried tomatoes, grilled squash, and zucchini. The only complaints I have would be that there isn't many dishes to choose from and they're closed on Monday and Tuesday (but that's just me nitpicking at this point). I definitely recommend this place for people who are gluten intolerant like me and want to have a tasty, refreshing meal. read more

We went for lunch and enjoyed it. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. Two of us ordered the scrambled egg and bacon sandwich with spicy mayo. We both agreed it was delicious. The spicy mayo was the perfect add on. My other friend had a Cobb salad since she is gluten free. She finished her entire plate. Needless to say, she thought it was delicious. Came here for brunch. I've heard many wonderful things about the food here for brunch, lunch and dinner. The inside of the restaurant is pretty plain, but the great menu makes up for that. Lots of great drink options for brunch from a Bloody Mary to a spiked ice coffee (with Tito's!) and a really great brunch menu.
