Survivor Bar!!! Honeysuckle coffee!! (Raspberry and lavender). Loved the lavender cookie as well. Zucchini bread and banana bread. We came back to Galveston the next week and it was our first stop. They were closed because one of their employees were exposed to COVID-19. So, Unfortunately, they were closed. We called to place an order and They didn't have a voice message to let us know, so we drove there and were very disappointed. How we, we understand and will be back when we are back in town. MOD Coffeehouse is a must-do on any Galveston trip. The ambiance is phenomenal. Located in a restored historic building that survived the monster sized storms of the past, the walls could write tales of Galveston lore. There coffeehouse's interior is spacious and has 2 levels for seating. With free wifi this would be a great spot to sit and study, and catch up on Yelp reviews. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area that is dog friendly, partially shaded with a garden-like trellis. You are sitting in the heart of downtown, yet feel transported to a garden like oasis. The staff were very friendly, and walked us newbies through the menu. My Honey Bee Latte was amazing. I don't usually get lattes, but this place specializes in unique latte concoctions. They had a vast menu of different types of lattes to choose from. It felt like reviewing a selection of hand crafted cocktails, only the main spirit used for the base of the drinks was caffeine. In my group someone got a cold brew, and another a cappuccino, and I think the latte was the best. Just because it was unique and different. They also have a mouth watering selection of treats made in house. My friends got the peanut butter bar (VERY fluffy, and packed with peanut butter goodness), and I the survivor bar. The survivor bar was DELICIOUS. Like the best trail mix packed together in a square. I should have gotten another one to go. It was sweet, but savory at the same time. It's always tempting to just order your stuff to go. But, this is a spot that I would recommend taking a moment to sit back and relax and soak in the surroundings if you have time. A mom and pop coffee shop that's immensely popular with the locals. I've been coming here for nearly 15 years. When I arrive early in the morning, I grab a bagel and an orange juice or an iced coffee. The pièce de résistance, however, is their black cherry tea. I recommend chugging a glass when it's Hell out temperature-wise. The staff is very friendly so be sure to tip generously. Crowd-wise, you have your mix of millennials and boomers just like in any café. It's common to chance upon a group of college-age kids cramming for exams they have to take on the same day next to an elderly couple with their noses buried in the newspaper. Rude employees. We came in at 6:58 and were told that they weren't open yet, the girl up front was pretty rude about it. So we stepped back out and we were perfectly fine with waiting the whole whopping 2 minutes. But when the same employee proceeded to come over and lock the front door on us just for good measure, I was completely turned off from trying this place. Way to make people feel unwelcome. Do better with the customer service. We come all the way from Dallas and I was super excited to try this place (you know, support small businesses and all) but the experience was pretty trash. So I'll have to settle with some mediocre coffee with better customer service, what a great way to start the morning. read more

Our coffees were both great. The breakfast sandwich was outstanding (Even if it had to be microwaved by the customer). There was a decent sized line upon walking in, however, it was quickly knocked down by a quick staff. The atmosphere is as super cool with movie pictures around the building. MOD is spectacular. Their coffee is great, they offer a variety of non-caffeinated options and their baked goods are phenomenal. I also love their inside seating and outdoor seating. It's a popular place, and rightly so! On our most recent visit to the island, we stopped by MOD twice. The first day I got the chai latte (I'm not a big caffeine person) and the woman working the register explained that there was caffeine in it but about a fourth of the amount of a regular cup of coffee. I also ordered a ham and cheese scone. My sister in law was also with us and she had ordered one too. Unfortunately the waitress had given her the wrong type and my sister in law brought it back. The woman at the front said: I'm so sorry about that and gave her the ham and cheese scone for free along with the other. The woman then looked at me and said, it's my first day. And I said really?! Omg! (Thinking in my head this is kind of a rough first day but did take some pity on her). Then she said no not really I've been working here for eight years but I love to tell people that when I screw up! Haha she has a good sense of humor and my sister in law laughed when I got back to the table and told her that. The ham and cheese scone is SO GOOD!!! I love it. It's super soft on the inside like a biscuit and has a nice cheese flavor. Just a little sprinkling of ham on the inside that is light. They also have chocolate peanut butter bars that are AMAZING!! I mean really out of this world good. We have gotten those before and their lemon bars are so good. Their baked goods in general are so good. The second day I came with my husband and again got the scone, because I was actually craving it, and he got an iced coffee. I had a couple sips, and their coffee is also so good. I don't know if it's because I don't often drink coffee or what but it did really wake me up. One tip: come earlier, like 8:30am or before if you want to pick your spot to sit. The little brunette girl with piercings and Astros hat behind the register is so rude, I've worked in retail my entire life and she wouldn't be employed at most retail stores I'm aware of. MOD was a coffee shop that I looked forward to trying when I first moved down to Galveston. It's located within walking distance of many restaurants and stores, making it a great stop if you're exploring downtown Galveston. I like to park a couple streets down to avoid paid parking. The outdoor seating is fairly aesthetic and you always see people out sitting with their dogs. The inside seating is not as impressive to me and gives off older vibes. MOD has a lot of fun specialty latte options and I've personally tried the Holly and the Honey Bee Latte. Because there's so many options, I like to sometimes get the "Just Trust Me" so the barista chooses for me, and they manage to always do a good job despite the surprise. While the specialty lattes are interesting and fun to try, sometimes all the flavors can hide the actual coffee flavor which I wish was more prominent. Their cup sizes are also smaller than I am used to at other coffee shops. They have a good array of baked goods as well. I personally enjoyed the chocolate peanut butter bar. Many types of teas available too! Overall, although it's not my personal go-to coffee shop, MOD has a variety of good options! read more

I love MOD. One of my absolute favorite coffeeshops and in the top 5 things I miss about living in Galveston. SO and I stopped by after a night of drinking to refuel with some delicious lattes. While I absolutely love the Honey Bee latte, I went for the Vanilla Bean latte while SO ordered the Raspberry Mocha latte. Honestly all of the latte options are so delicious and worth trying.
