I have always seen this charming cute coffeehouse when I have visited Galveston. Today 6/7/25, I finally had the opportunity to try it. There was a longer line which gave me a false sense of success. I asked about two different coffee drinks. The Barista answered in a bored way. While I waited for my drink, I admired the ambiance of the shop. The worker who created my coffee latte, mumbled something and when i asked him if this was so and so drink- he just mumbled something under his breath and dismissed me. I also tried a slice of banana bread. This was the worst coffee I have ever had, it barely had any taste. The banana bread pastry was dry and tasteless. My total bill for one coffee and one slice of banana bread was $13.14!!!!! will never come here again. poor customer service and terrible coffee and pastry. read more

I don't even need to write a review because it seems like everyone has covered all the bases, however, since I felt such sadness that I didn't discover this place until my last day of Spring Break, I feel I need to let out my feelings and share them with y'all. As we walked down the sidewalk and across the street toward the cafe, my son said "Mom! Look how cool it looks! We can sit out here while you have your coffee!" The bistro tables under the shade of ivy covered trellis, the pops of red to make it feel warm and inviting like your in Europe. Love it! Then you get inside. It's funky and chill vibe distracts you from any line there is as you wait your turn to order. There were espresso brownies, pastries, zucchini bread and more. I grabbed a bag of decaf beans to bring home for my breville and enjoyed being overwhelmed by all the curious special espresso creations they had to offer in the board. I got the SQUIRREL and I can't wait to drive back to Galveston so I can get another. Someone referred me to a "hot & new" locally brewed coffee shop to try also and I made the HUGE mistake of going there for my drive back home. I came here to get work done for the day, and I wish I had done this sooner during my week in Galveston. I got the bottomless tea, and I really liked this option because it was affordable, and I had something to sip on the entire day because of the free refills. The hibiscus tea is great. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. And the best part - I didn't have trouble finding an outlet! The music can be a bit loud, but they have a great playlist, so I didn't mind. But just a heads up - the bathroom sink is hilariously tiny. Overall, I would for sure come by to work again if I am in the area. read more

We stopped in for a shot of espresso to get our morning going. We love their location-if you take a cruise, they are a five minute walk away from the docks. Easy to get to! We loved that they featured local art that benefits charity, as well as having lots of gifts and food to go as well as the option of dining in. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I can see why people like this place. The outdoor seating area is very pretty with an overhead vine area which provides lots of shade. The inside of the shop is also decorated well. They have several spots to sit and chat. There's also a connecting room with a more hidden space for privacy. The smell inside is wonderful. Chef Mary Bass from LaCocina also has some of her pastries and spreads here too, which are fabulous. Got a green tea mango peach slushie, cinnamon pecan crumb cake and be a lemon bar. One of my fav coffee shops on the island! I always order a latte before I go to class, and each time my drink has been ready waiting for me to pick up so I appreciate the fast service. Ambiance is nice, it's a great coffee shop to come and study at. I usually get the cinnamon and vanilla latte with honey and it tastes so good. I will say one time my drink was a fluke and was way too milky, but the other times I've gotten a drink from here it has always tasted spot on! read more

We always come here for coffee and pastries whenever we are in Galveston! My husband particularly loves this place because he can get a smoothie while I can get a coffee, we find other coffee shops don't have a lot of non-caffeinated options. Every food and pastry item we have tried is delicious and they have a little microwave in the corner so you can heat up your dishes to the temperature you desire. They also have self serve water too. Inside seating is limited but their outdoor patio is big and so cute! We have come here in the off season before and service is very quick but this time (July 4th weekend) it was very busy and the line was slow. Even on a weekend, coffee is a must. Not because it's needed, but because I heart it. My friends had been here previously, and had good experiences so I made a journey post pizza deliverence. Walking in, this place was well equipped for maximum customer safety in a covid world. They had crowd control directions on the ground, signs on the walls and sanitation bottles on every table. The staff were all masked up and quite helpful in the menu review. I went with the Iced Hummingbird. I ordered a large, but the cup looked as a small compared to every other shop I've been to, a bit of a bummer. I'd hate to see what a small looks like. For what little there was, the drink was very good. I just wish a large was actually large. There's a common room full of tables for studying, or games or just groups to hangout. This place has a great outside atmosphere. The staff is attentive. The wait is minimal. Living in the area however, I skip it. It's overpriced and the coffee is just no good in my opinion. Starbucks is the better option, I would compare MOD to their Sumatra offering, but less flavor and more burnt. I really wanted this to be a good coffee shop, the area is fun and artsy, but again it's the actual coffee that leaves something to be desired. Everytime I am in Galveston I have to come by and get some carrot cake and a Squirrel. The carrot cake looks like a whoopie pie. I thought it would be super sweet with the cream cheese icing, but its not. It is SOOOO good! I'm also very happy that the cake does not have raisins! I also love the Squirrel Latte. It has Vanilla, Hazelnut, Almond, and Toffee Nut. You would also think it would be super sweet, but its not and has a great flavor. We have also tried the Zucchini bread. It was a little too heavy on the cloves, otherwise it was really good. I was able to get some work done here. Inside, they have some nice seating both upstairs and downstairs. I love the atmosphere both inside and out. The patio seating is well lit at night and sometimes they have live music. They have a free Little Public Library out front.
