I've spent my life chasing the perfect crust, comparing everything from the legendary pie shops in Manhattan to the pristine corner slices in Pittsburgh. I didn't think Austin could pull off truly authentic pizza. I was dead wrong. Baldinucci is absolute sorcery. The moment I took a bite of their Roman-style pizza, I was instantly thrown back to the tiny, narrow pizzerias I stumbled into in Italy. It has that exact, hyper-specific airy crunch that is so incredibly hard to replicate outside of Europe. The dough is clearly fermented with patience. It's light, shatteringly crisp on the bottom, and has those beautiful, irregular air pockets that give it a pillowy structure without ever feeling heavy. Let's talk about the sauce, because that's where most places fail. It isn't that sugary, paste-heavy stuff you find at standard joints. It is vibrant, bright, and tastes intensely of sun-ripened tomatoes and clean olive oil. It is remarkably fresco; striking that perfect balance where the acidity cuts through the richness of the cheese without overwhelming the palate. The vibe inside the West Lake spot is casual and unpretentious, but they take their craft seriously. Food service is streamlined and efficient; you order at the counter, and they pop the slices back into the oven so they land at your table screaming hot. The staff is genuinely proud of what they're slinging, and they should be. If you are an East Coast transplant drowning in a sea of mediocre pies, do yourself a favor and get over to West Lake. It's the real deal. PS: The gelato flavors are also sorcery. However, a review of their gelato is for another time. I must continue to savor the pie for now.

The manager by the name William is racist. Tonight he called the police on me after he shoved me in the face. I was upset because the worker touched my pizza while putting it in the oven bare handed. The manager William started yelling at me saying " that's what we do here" we all touch people food with no gloves when putting it in oven" he also said " I've been here years and that's how we've always done it". However, I got upset and started talking a little loud back to him. He then, kicked me out and called me a "Nigger" then he shoved my head and closed door , locking it. He called the cops, when the cops got there, I had a white lady stand with me to witness what he had done. They filed assault by contact on William the manager. I'll put the case number for anyone to look it up online at the Austin Police Department case # 181731974, this is the public police report. Run from this place, the manager is a lady abuser and he's racist against blacks. He was very aggressive with me. I'll be following up on police report. read more

I like MOD Pizza! My neighbors said good things about it, which hastened my first visit. They were right - it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood! I think the pizza is a step above the standard fast-food type pizza. The topping choices are fresh and such a great variety. I've tried their option choices and have made my own. I liked both. The staff have been over-the-top nice during every visit. When I couldn't decide between the lemonade and tea options, they gave me a cup to sample all of them before I made my decision. I still have trouble deciding between the two lemonades; they're both good! My niece thinks this place is great. She likes the mini pizza size and that she gets to pick her own toppings. AND they gave her a sticker to write her name on and put on the wall. They have a fan for life! read more

Never again in my life will I eat at this putrid pizza parlor. The pizza managed to look under-cooked, while somehow tasting more burnt than any food I've ever had. What's more is that the pizza tastes rancid. The toppings are crusty, the mushrooms taste sour, and the cheese tastes as if someone washed it with ammonia. At that point, I was so frustrated and hungry that I just told him to give me the cheese pizza and left. Not exactly the great first impression I was hoping for from Jet's Pizza. The pizza itself was decent, but the customer service completely ruined the experience. Note to the owner: please train your staff on basic customer service and accountability. I also noticed the owner only seems to respond to positive reviews while ignoring the negative ones. Pizza lovers beware.
