Let me say we have been at MOD Pizza about four times. The last time, when my Pizza came out, it was obviously not cooked enough and when I asked him to put it in the oven for another minute, he looked at me like it was a big inconvenience. Last Night, my wife suggested MOD Pizza. We walked into place our order and my wife and I remarked how cold it was. After ordering, we found a seat where it seemed to be tolerable as far as temperature. The AP on my watch said 66 degrees but it felt a bit colder. When it came time to pick up my Pizza, it again looked like it could use some more time in the oven, but I decided to not complain and took it to our table. First Bite and I remarked, this pizza is hardly cooked, just enough for the cheese to melt but the mushrooms were cold. I went back and complained but I was told since I took a bite out of it, they could make me a new one but could not reheat it. I thought that was a waste but understood his logic. My wife's pizza came out and it looked as though it had been baked ok (but she did complain that it was not piping hot like Amici's in the Shores we have at least once a week. Now, in all fairness, the crust I ordered was the Cauliflower so that might account for why they did not bake it as long as they would for a conventional crust. The Cauliflower has a flavor I prefer over the conventional dough but it does brown up on the bottom faster. Next time I will tell them to heat it as long as they can to get the toppings hot. I ended up taking over 1/2 home and reheating it in the Microwave which tends to ruin the crunch of the crust. Oh well, live and learn. One other thing to nit pick... the last two times there, the attitude of the employees has seemed to change a bit. Last night for instance, the employees at the counter did not make us feel as welcome as the original crew, the first two times. Sometimes, initial Success can decline. As I ate my cold Pizza, I noticed the demeanor of the employees was not like the Happy Fun Employees whose pictures were posted on the Far wall. Will we return.... yes. Will I assert my right for a 'Hot' Pizza... Definitely!!! read more

I visited this MOD Pizza while I was out shopping with my girlfriend, and we had a really positive experience. For starters, we were surprised that MOD pizza has a presence in California; coming from Michigan we assumed that this was a regional make-you-own-pizza chain. In fact, I'd attended a Detroit Yelp Elite event at MOD pizza, from which I had a few extra coupons and gift cards. There's plenty of parking outside via an open lot, and the interior is surprisingly spacious considering how expensive real-estate here is. My girlfriend and I ordered separate 'Megadough' pizzas, which were reasonably sized considering most DIY pizza places skew on the small side. As always, I ordered basically everything possible option (sauces, meats, veggies, spices, glazes, you name it) and the employee helping me out was extremely patient. Moreover, we found out that one of our coupons was not valid for our selection, but they ended up giving it to us anyway (what good sports!) The flavors of both pizzas were amazing, and we were very full by the end of our respective meals. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this MOD Pizza if you have a craving for pizza and want something very particular. read more

I ordered a hawaiian pizza and it was overcooked and burnt. They gave me the overcooked pizza and prepped another. The replacement pizza wasn't the hawaiian I've asked for. They prepped a second replacement and finally nailed it. The supervisor/person in charge, Freddie, gave me a $25 MOD gift card and apologized for his staffs' mistakes. I said the gift card wasn't needed as I have received 2 pizzas already which 1 was overcooked. He replied I want to give my customers the best service there is. Sadly, only a small number of people would actually go above and beyond to keep customers happy. On top of it all, I didn't even wait long as I sat and enjoyed my beverage. Swing and a Miss. Ok we were on the road and starving. I had heard that they were opening one of these in my community, so I thought this would be a cool preview. Total. Disappointment. So, apparently, this is what the end of the world looks like. This restaurant is illustrative of the fall of the great American love affair with pizza and an insult of my ancestors. The pizza gods apparently have turned their backs and put on the bag of shame. The pizza was ok at best. The best I can describe - it- is like a frozen pizza from the store. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but there are actually some frozen pizzas that are better than this and legions of restaurants that do this right. None of the toppings look fresh. Well, maybe at one point, a year ago, and maybe I would not have noticed, if it was not for topping replacement time when I arrived. Ya, the piling of peppers or sausage pebbles by the chef cramming them in the tins straight from the bag and then pressing them down with his fist to ensure maximum capacity in the metal tin made me want to add that to my pie. I am no food prophet, but here is a simple observation I have made from my many years on the planet: if you act like you care about the stuff you are making so will the people eating it. They will marvel at how you respect what went into the concept of this restaurant and the hours and many dollars that went into the design of this place. The staff here seemed totally disinterested in the product they were making, hence the last sentence...SO, at the end of this little field trip I went to the restroom. I felt like I was at a highway rest stop. Maybe a bus carrying a minor league baseball team had made their first stop from Arizona and needed to pee, I don't know, but it was "well used." When I went to wash my hands, the faucet came off the sink when I lifted the handle to get water. Nice. So, here's the deal. If you don't have anyone who cares and fixes these things, close the place and save yourself some money. After all, I could have ordered a Large pizza at Mt. Mikes for cheaper and had leftovers. Compared to other build your own pizza places, pieology is lighter, blaze pizza is pretty hearty, and mod pizza is where I go for somewhere in between. The pizza comes out with heartier ingredients on thinner crust, and the service at this location is a bit slow but I still like it enough to come back. read more

Went here yesterday. Pizza nicely cooked. But they dont put enough of what you ask so I have to ask for more. The people were a little sloppy on how they placed ingredients on pizza. But they didn't have enough variety. I've been to Blaze and they have a lot more things you can put. read more

MOD Pizza is pretty decent, but Pieology definitely outranks this place. I ordered similar toppings as to what I order at Pieology, but it didn't taste quite the same. It was still good! Side note, they did spell my sister's name right and pronounced it correctly, which made us laugh because we always see if places would spell and pronounce her name correctly. They had good customer service, pricing was decent, and the pizza's didn't take too long to make. The person making the pizza made sure he heard us correctly on the toppings we chose and put a decent amount of toppings. Came here on a Sunday around 2 pm, it wasn't too busy, there was nobody in line. We ordered 2 pizzas , paid for it, got the sodas and before we got to sit down they called my name. That was quick !! Pizza were ready !! Here's the down size, pizzas were lukewarm the crust was cooked bc the crust is so thin. But the toppings tasted room temperature and not throughly heated. We would have asked them to reheat it but we were in a hurry. Having tried Blazes and Pieology , I have to say this place is skimpy on the toppings and flavors weren't as good. Another thing was the same person that placed toppings on our pizza was also the cashier. He had to remove his gloves to ring us up and put on another pair of gloves to put toppings on the next customers pizza. Maybe they need to hire extra helpers. read more

This review is primarily for my experience as I watched the workers worked. As we waited in line, this was what was observed: one guy was pretty much doing a number of roles. Prepping the pizza dough and putting into machine for flattening. Running the cash register. Boxing cooked pizzas. Handling plates and utensils for customers. Regularly texting on his phone. All this while never wearing gloves nor washing handles but constantly wiping it on his black t shirt and sweatpants (you can see the flour that remains on his clothing). read more

MOD is a fun, clean, healthy place to eat! I appreciated the staff's upbeat personality, especially Ricky! My niece, and daughter, and I had never been to MOD before and Ricky kindly, and clearly explained how it all works, complete with a smile on his face! We each chose different toppings for our pizzas and we each enjoyed our own pizzas. We also liked the iced tea and lemonade selections at the drink station; it was a welcome alternative to the typical soda station (which they offer as well). We will all be back! Traveled to the area for our child's game. Out of the 5 of us (our family) the star rating went between 0-3 stars. Our daughter (the athlete) gave it a 3 (she was really hungry). Our oldest who is gluten and dairy free gave it 2 stars because they offered a choice of gluten and dairy free, but "0" stars for taste (threw away half of her pizza)! $80 to feed five is decent. I really want to get this place a good review, but recent visits make that impossible. Love the concept, location, and the food is usually pretty tasty. The staff is always nice, however they suffer from a severe lack of training. On my previous two visits the only issue was the way the pizza was cut. Not a huge deal, but kind of frustrating. One slice would be 2" and another 3". It's not hard to cut a pizza evenly. On my visit tonight everything was off. Pizzas took forever to make, with one actually getting done before the second one was even made. The guy was new and trying to be perfect. Understandable. While the second pizza was getting made, a second employee came in off of break and started to make himself a pizza. When second pizza was finally done, the employee that was making himself a pizza got our pizza out of the oven, put it in a box, sliced his own pizza, and then took his over to the area where they make the pizzas and started to eat it (Leaning over the prepped food!) After a minute or two, I called over to the employees asking if we could get our pizza sliced. The employee that was enjoying his food in the prep area came over (without washing his hands or putting on gloves) and finally sliced our second pizza and gave it to us. They may have been nice but this experience was inexcusable. I'm going to email their corporate office about this and if things don't change quickly, we're going to stop coming here. I'm giving this review 2 stars based off of previous good experiences. read more
