I had a Mod size (11" inch) Mad Dog, Almost like a meat lovers' pizza with added toppings, no extra charge, on a cauliflower crust, which does cost extra. It was absolutely great and the habanero sauce is very good, use sparingly. Overall it was delicious! I've been to a few different "make-your-own" pizza places and most just don't live up to my standards for pizza, but this place manages to hold its own. The employees were all super friendly and welcoming, particularly for first-time MODers. They have 9 standard styles of pizza and then they also offer a seasonal. Of course, you always have the option to create your own style/toppings from scratch or you can modify the ones they already have. From there it's basically the Subway/Chipotles of pizza. You watch them prepare the 11" pizza of your choice and away it goes into there 725 degree oven for cooking. From start to finish the whole process is probably 10 minutes (not bad at all for pizza). They offer a small selection of beer as well as some flavored teas and lemonades. Typical fountain drinks are always an option, but I particularly love the inclusion of San Pellegrino blood orange! The pizza tastes fresh and delicious and the crust is good too. I got the Calexico and my girlfriend got the Mad Dog. They offer a ton of toppings, sauces, and they have all the parm cheese, red pepper, etc on the side. Prices are reasonable. read more

The cheese was put all in the middle of the pizza, so half the pizza was without cheese. The crust is paper thin, if you like that sort of thing, but I do not. Having them make the pizza is front of you is probably best, otherwise they do skimp on toppings and cheese if you place an online order. Hanna, Axel, Sam, and Brandon are absolutely amazing! When approaching the counter I explained to Hanna that I have a heavy allergy and she immediately went into action! They all changed there gloves and Axel was very careful not to cross contaminate with the toppings. Hanna was very aware of the location of my pizza through the whole process ensuring cross contamination was not an issue! When I picked my pizza up Audrey made sure that I knew the knife was clear prior to slicing. I never heard of a MOD Pizza until I moved here to Houston from Arkansas. Unfortunately, they don't have a location at where I'm from. My coworkers have recently been talking this place up, so I knew it was only time before I had to check it out. MOD Pizza is a fast-casual pizza restaurant based in Seattle, WA serving DIY artisan-pizza. However, there are tons of locations within Houston with more to come. I would describe this place as the pizza version of Subway, but a little bit cooler like Chipotle. They hand-press their dough daily and let you choose between over 30+ toppings. Then, they cook your handcrafted pizza in a gas-fired oven where it's baked to perfection. My first thoughts were that I was going to be very overwhelmed because I would want EVERYTHING...luckily I didn't. Instead, I ended up adding garlic rub to the crust with purple onions, Italian sausage, pepperoni, dry oregano, crushed peppers, parmesan, jalapenos, artichokes, and mushrooms for the toppings. We have been here a couple of times and like the pizza. We ordered online for pickup and when we showed up, they didn't even know we ordered anything. So we waited for them to cook the pizza even though we ordered it 20 minutes before. When it was ready, the guy cooking the pizza shouted our name and he gave us red sauce for our garlic strips when we ordered it with ranch. We asked for ranch and he huffed, turned away to the oven for awhile, then turned around reached under and slammed the ranch on top. We weren't trying to get anything for free, we just ordered it that way. His rude disposition was the worst! Once home we realized the garlic strips were cold and one of our pizzas was missing most of the toppings we ordered on it. The customer service was very low and disrespectful. The pizza was wrong and we even had to wait even longer. We didn't mind that it wasn't ready and that they didn't know about it but geez, at least be courteous and get it right. read more

Normally we love MOD and is always a go to for great Pizza. Today was just a bad day all around. 1. Cleanliness - you would think with COVID procedures this place would be very clean. But it was just the opposite. A number of dirty table and most of the associates behind the counter not wearing gloves. 2. Quality - we got the mad dog and pizza salad. Salad was dry with no dressing and was afraid to take it back to the workers that did not have gloves. The mad dog pizza dough was in uneven so one side was doughy and the other side burnt. Mod Pizza is basically the Chipotle of pizza joints. You walk in, customize your pizza with as many toppings as you would like, they cook it and then you're ready to eat. A pro about this place is that all pizzas are charged a flat rate rather than charging by the quantity of toppings. I'm vegan so that's a plus since most places charge extra for dairy free cheese. The pizza here is okay but it's nothing to write home about. It's your standard crust, sauce and cheese. We've come here twice now, once when it was dead and once when it was a rush. The other night happened to be when they were in a rush. We stood in line for about ten minutes (not an issue) and watched as the employees rushed to make multiple pizzas. I couldn't help but notice the amount of cross contamination that goes on. Listen, I get that it's going to happen, but it's tough for me to order a meat free pizza after someone has crumbled sausage in their hands and put those same hands in the veggie containers. The employees wear gloves but there is really no point to do so. Gloves are changed every five pizzas or so and the same person makes your pizza from start to finish. There are about four people at the counter at a time so it might make sense to stick one person to the cheese section, one person to the meat section, another to the veggie section and so on. I get that most people will read a vegan review and consider me some hippie crazy lady but for the strict vegans out there, this place isn't for you. I stick to a vegan cheese pizza with red sauce to keep it safe. I get that cross contamination is a thing, that's not my argument. read more

came here because i was craving pizza, and because i try my best to stay on a dairy free diet (no cheese) , i thought MOD Pizza would be a good place to satisfy my craving. with that being said, the first thing i noticed when i got in line to order my pizza, was how messy the counter was and how much cross contamination was going on. none of the workers changed their gloves after working on each customers pizza, which maybe would be okay if they used a utensils to place the ingredients on the pizza but they just used their hands (with gloves) with everything. i feel like a place like this should be more careful when it comes to things like that because being a place where you can customize your pizza, it attracts a lot of people that have special dietary needs, and it could upset or maybe even be harmful to some customers if not careful. so if you do have any strict dietary restrictions please be careful ! trying to just look over the fact of the messy ingredient bar and that there's cheese inside the half of the other containers, (i didn't make a big deal because i'm not allergic or anything) i chose what i thought would be good on my pizza and they basically just piled everything on there. which is okay i guess, but all the ingredients were so huge ! they should really consider chopping and dicing each ingredient so it's nice and small so you can get all the ingredients with the flavors all blending together as one tasty bite instead of having huge big pieces of bell peppers and onions and tomatoes. but even then MAYBE that would be okay if the crust was a little thicker where it can actually hold larger ingredients but it was so thin and flimsy and everything just got soggy and the flavors just didn't mend and it just wasn't good. i know i'm complaining a lot so you might be wondering why i gave it two stars instead of one, but i gave it an extra star just in case maybe i'm just a horrible pizza customizer , and i didn't want to put that on them. but coming here was a huge disappointment and it also didn't satisfy my craving. i probably wouldn't come back but i do want to try other pizza concept like this to see if it's better. read more
