I went for the pizza tour that recently happened in Houston. I got there about 15 minutes before it started and the line went fast once it started. There was a lot for parking and street parking near by. There is a window you can go up to or you can go inside to order, but there is no dine in. I like that you're able to see the crew in action making the pizza and it seemed like such an open space. Unfortunately while getting into line, there was a worker that uncomfortably shoved me forward and was a bit rude. I understood that they were doing an event and they needed everyone to be in an orderly manner but I was not okay with being treated rudely like that and was not in a good mood for the rest of the time. I will definitely be turning around if I see him again. Food wise, I love the thin pizza since I like folding my pizza. The distribution of pepperoni is great and I like that it is all beef. The ranch that they include is a light ranch that is not too creamy. I wish there was a bit more sauce, but that is more of a personal preference. The bacon onion jam on the sweet revenge is exactly what I expect for the jam as it was sweet, meaty, crunchy, and jammy. Surprisingly, the thin salami didn't get tough like some meats do when they're baked. There's extra basil to toss on the pizza. Overall, the jam and honey made it a very sweet pizza. I got used to seeing "pho" items being made with beef, so I was surprised the pho shizzle was made with chicken. Overall, there was a lot of hoisin, which I liked, and red bell pepper flavor, which I found strange. The side sauce wasn't as delicious as I first tried it. I had wanted to try Zalat Pizza for some time, especially after a friend in Dallas told me it was a late night favorite. I ordered a 14" Pepperoni Masterclass. Unfortunately, the Pepperoni Masterclass that came my way seemed a little more like the Pepperoni Teaching Assistant. The crust was on the thinner side, not as thin as a coal-fired pizza but nowhere near as thick as a slice of Pizza Hut. The seasoning on the crust was really bold, but enjoyable. I didn't come to Zalat because of a need for beef pepperoni, so for me, it came across as pretty average. Given that this was a specialty pizza, I was expecting wall-to-wall pepperoni, but that wasn't the case. The cheese and sauce were not overly memorable, but the parmesean cheese packets did bring great extra cheese flavor. The game changer was the included siracha ranch. Absolutely the highlight! And a really great consistancy for pizza dipping, not the dreaded storebought ranch thickness. That said, while there are a lot of positive reviews out there, I don't think Zalat was for me. - $21 was a lot for this pizza. That's pushing Pizzana's boutique + LA celebrity chef pizzeria pricing. - I prefer a thicker crust, and there was something about this pizza, be it the salty seasoning or the very thin crust, that had me chugging slice after slice of a pizza I didn't love in order to get full. - While the siracha ranch was outstanding, I'd rather have a pizza crust that's genuinely good and doesn't need to be dipped in a sauce. - I also noticed that the pizza box was designed for someone to sign-off on my pizza, but nobody signed off on mine. It seems like either the quality control is a little inconsistent or they don't do this signing off thing anymore. I was interested in a late night meal. Most of the time, it's hard to find a pizza place open late till 4am. However, Zalat'a was definitely worth it! First they have an assortment of specialty pizzas and unique flavor combinations that is striking for a late nite food spot. I also noticed to my delight that they serve pizza with beef pepperoni on all their pizzas. I ordered the Crave which had beef pepperoni, red onions, and salami. The food was made fast and included a zesty houst ranch. I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Houston. read more

I had heard good things about Zalat and was looking forward to trying it. This is pretty good pizza, but the crust undercuts it. We ordered the sausage and a Zealot, Zalat's version of supreme. We ordered online - it's only takeout or delivery. I got there right at the time the online ordering system said it would be ready, and it indeed was. Both pizzas were 14", but for some reason the Zealot was in an 18" box. The sauce was savory and well-seasoned, though there could have been a little more of it. There were just enough ingredients that the pizza wasn't soggy or too loaded - a problem with lots of supreme-style. The sausage was very good - I think I'd get that one next. The meat was fresh and flavorful ... lots of fennel! The crust, however, was very chewy... tough, actually. When we first opened the boxes, I thought the crust looked like Mr. Gatti's, which I love - a chewy cracker-style crust. But this was just thin and tough. It needed some air! I might get this again, but there are better pizza places that are purely local in the area, like Pizaro's and Romano's. One note about delivery. The other two Zalat's in Houston work with Grubhub, but this place did not. I'm not sure how this store handles delivery, but I'm curious as to why it doesn't work with Grubhub. read more

I like Zalat pizzeria overall; I gonto Zalat specifically for beef pepperoni & I usually go to the location near my house (far north). - The Pepperoni Masterclass pizza is THE reason for going to Zalat. The pizza at this location was tasty enough (no skimping on the pepperoni) & the service was decent. But some of the workers at this location did not pay much attention to hygienic practices. One guy in particular used his gloves hands to scratch his hair, wipe his mouth, and then sneezed mid-kitchen (I didn't see him change his gloves then either). The same guy was also engaged in crass conversation about someone "grabbing that girl's a - -" loudly across the store, which forgive me for being prudish, but seems slightly inappropriate in a public area and a multi gendered workplace. Fortunately, someone else was actually handling my pizza. But that negative part of my experience subtracted significantly from the enjoyment of an otherwise legitimate pizza. read more

This may just be the worst pizza I've ever had! I've been driving past this location since it opened and figured I'd give it a shot really not knowing what to expect. Ordering was easy enough and I got a 14" cheese pie and wings. On a positive note, the wings really weren't bad! Positives end there. The pizza looked terrible and tasted worse! It looked dry and looks were accurate - barely any sauce and a thin layer of cheese on a cardboard like thin crust. This pizza reminded me of a bargain brand frozen pie and, even though I haven't been to one in years, I'd sooner go to a Domino's, Pizza Hut, or Little Caesars if I didn't have any other choice. Given the poor quality, Zalat is definitely not worth the price either. While I don't love Pink's Pizza, it's a much better option on this part of Washington Avenue. If you're set on Zalat though, you might want to sample the wares from the Weed Spot dispensary right next door while you're waiting on your pie - obviously I didn't! read more

The pizza I got definitely needed sauce and toppings closer to the edge. I do think the crust was nice though. But something was just off with other aspects of the pizza. I wasn't that impressed. I debated between 2 and 3 stars and decided to round up. For a pizza that costs more than $20, I expected it to be a lot better. While they were very busy inside, our order was ready before the estimated time so we were in and out quickly. Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza (no chives or blue cheese), and it was probably the best I've ever had. All the ingredients had great taste but nothing was too over powering. The pizza crust itself is very light. Also had the Pepperoni pizza, same thing, great taste. A lot of pizza places just make you feel weighed down after having some slices, but while it is filling you don't feel like a bloated pig after eating here. I will say the price is a little bit on the higher side but it's well worth it. Everything was delicious and perfect, they sign their name on the box stating it's been checked. I really , really like Zalat Pizza's pizza. The crust is nice and thin and isn't a huge bready commitment. It's got snap and it's got chew so best of both worlds. Have had 3 pizzas , none of the menu creations, I like my own. The last pizza I ordered last night I am currently eating the last slice for lunch the following day. The Sausage and I added mushrooms and jalapenos and some Buffalo sauce on the side for dribbling on. Me oh my, I am sad it is over as this is my last slice. I cannot wait to order that last one again. For some comparison to my taste - I love Romanos, Pizaro's but not Pinks. At all. This Zalat pizza is kind of a different category if that makes sense. When I want Romano's , that is what I want. Same for Pizaro's. But if I just want pizza , good friend pizza....then Zalat Pizza is my new go --to!!! read more
