I tried a MOD spicy chicken sausage mushroom pizza and it was pretty good but as a former New Yorker not great. The thin crust was crunchy and fixings definitely good but sauce was bland. I think it worth a try and making your own selection of toppings might make this fat better. Overall, I think it's worth a try and I suggest taking the additional thought to individualize your selection will up the final experience. Service is slow and perhaps it's because they were short staffed? They are pretty good at spreading the toppings evenly, but I wish they put the sauces towards the outer side of dough rather than focusing on the center. Don't limit yourself when you come here, your choices are limitless. You can add more than 1 sauce and you have an assortment of toppings!!! After they bake the pizza, you can choose a sauce to drizzle on top of the pizza! Sir-ancha is THE ONE! I love thin crust and their was crunchy goodness! Wow.. Wow... I come here multiple times, but tonight, 9/21, I placed my order at 7:53 online. Email says the order is ready to be picked up in 15 minutes, which is 8:15. To me, if they couldn't handle it, they needed to stop online orders Doordarshan order until they get it under control with in person order. While waiting for my food, every in person people that order got their food before me. But I felt bad when another lady mentioned she waited for 2 hours. I ordered 4 Mod pizzas.. I didn't ask for thin crust they decided to give me whatever was available. This is not acceptable! One good thing I'll say about all of this. The guy that was cooking the pizza and boxed them. My first time eating at Mod pizza after going to the open house at PHS. I always drive past the Pinole location and see how busy it is inside. My curiosity and hunger pangs finally steered me here. No regrets and I will definitely be returning. The pizza is customized to whatever you want. You choose the size, crust, and toppings. I chose 11 inch, cauliflower crust, Dillon James (Marguerite) mozarella, asiago, fresh basil, sliced tomato, garlic topping, and added artichokes. YUM The crust was thin and crispy, toppings were flavorful, and the extra artichokes generously added. It was a guilt-free pizza. Two cold beers on tap completed my order. Best surprise, my husband liked the food here, too. We will be back to try other foods. read more

Of the fast casual pizza places, MOD is number two after 800 degrees Napleotana in LA. However, had this been my first MOD experience it might have been my last. My wife wanted a pizza with oil and garlic instead of "sauce." The guy snapped back, "that's not a sauce." We over looked this and keep making the pizza. Mine was simple, pepperoni, mild sausage, ricotta, and mushroom. However, went I got it after it was cooked 1/4 of the pizza did not have any cheese or toppings. I did bring it back to have it remade and I will say they were polite but it took 10 minutes. The table to my right also had a issue. They had an issue with the same employee that gave us static about sauce. They even asked for a manager. In the end, I was disappointed in my $23 dollar spend. Great pizza, for a relatively cheap price. $10 gets you a 11" pizza with any thing you want on it. Only extra price seems to be specialty crusts (gluten free and cauliflower). Definitely worth going back to. If nothing else, the chance to try other combinations will make you feel like you're not eating the same thing again and again. Only off thing is topping/cheese placement. I had an 11" with 3 cheeses, meats, and vegs, and while most of the stuff are nicely spread, noticed that the cheese kinda concentrated in the middle. My second MOD i have visited. This time I wanted to try and have it picked up on my way to to Benicia instead of the Vallejo (also great) location, so i tried out the to go ordering system. When I arrived I was greeted and asked if I was Me!, and i said yeah and they tossed me the 3 pizzas and fountain drink cup. A solid MOD pizza location. This one is very close to where we live and for some odd reason I hadn't been here yet. So, the other day my girlfriend and I dropped by since it seemed like a tasty spot. I won't lie. Blaze Pizza and Pieology are super similar and sometimes I kinda get them all mixed up. They all three have the same concept of the make your own pizza. This spot was clean and had some friendly staff. I made a very good pizza with a mix of pepperoni salami and broccoli (strange but it works). Walked into MOD tonight super hungry usually a great place to go eat however not tonight, first I asked if the pizza makers could accommodate me with a request to simply add cheese to garlic bread ,I basically got told no then asked why and I was told that would be cheesy garlic bread which they do offer but at a larger size only . I would have paid extra I just wanted a snack for the car on the way home before I ate my pizza there was no solution just no and got looked at like I was stupid.... Next another pizza maker started making my pizza he took care in making the pizza making sure meats were spread evenly then a young lady took over and basically started just piling meat and quickly and carelessly tossing it on my pizza ... whatever just want my pizza then then the cashier asked for a tip in a round about way . I'm like really even my 11 year old daughter noticed and asked what their problem was . I just wanted pizza without the issues . My first time trying MOD Pizza and I was pleasantly surprised. They only have two sizes of pizza 11"or 6". The 11" does have an option of having a thicker crust or called "mega size". Then you can choose the many prefix classic combos or you can create your own, that's when the surprise comes into play. You have over 30 toppings to select from and if you choose, you can have them all and it's still the SAME price. So create ur own pizza option, the varieties can be in the hundreds. I went simply on my order 11" thin crust with pesto sauce, pepperoni and cheese. All the ingredients look fresh, as well as the pizza doughs. They have like a brick oven without the bricks and cooks up the pizza in about 5 minutes. It's a hot dome oven that's super fast !!! My pizza was piping hot, with a nice crunch... well made. They also have salads to select from, Fountain drinks and some desserts. But obviously your here for the pizza. Will definitely go back and try the possible combinations my left side of the brain can conjure up!!!! My daughter had a thick crust pizza but it seemed under cooked. Didn't think too much of it because we only saw 2 employees working so they were probably stressed. When we got to the make line to order, the women who was making DoorDash orders kept her head down and make 4 pizzas before we received our first hello. I'm not expecting a super upbeat attitude at 7pm on a Sunday, but these workers made it seem like they work at the morgue. They made it feel like we are a burden on them for choosing to eat here. Having a bad day is one thing but making customers feel like they're the reason for your bad day is just disrespectful. Whoever owns this location should HIGHLY consider getting a new manager. This review if of my experience with online ordering/curbside pickup/first time trying the food. After all this time, I finally tried this spot! I ordered online and it was a very easy experience. I selected curbside pickup and was to call a phone # when I arrrived so they could bring my order outside, but they actually called me a few minutes before I got there to let me know it was ready. They were friendly, and got my order to me within the time I selected online. I was able to input special instructions for "softer dough, not crisp" when placing my online order. My pizza was made well, had plenty of each ingredient, and taste was delish! I would order here again, and the Pinole location made me a satisfied customer for my first time trying MOD. read more

The thin crispy crust is available in two sizes but i always go for the larger so I have leftovers for lunch the next day The staff is pleasant and helpful, the wait time is reasonable, and the prices are fair. I'm pretty disappointed at what has become of my favorite pizza place next to my house. I used to love coming here almost everyday, knowing I'd get my pizza made right. I went today for the first time in awhile. The pizza: It was soggy. It looked toasty like I like it, but I touched it and it was super soggy. I had to recook it when I got home. I only live 5 mins away. And the way it was cut was just so sad. I tried to take it apart and it just fell apart. And let's not forget that when I popped toppings in my mouth, they were still cold. The service: I don't know if he's in training or what, but he needs to work ok his customer service skills and communication. The guy behind the counter was continuing my order from another guy who started it. He grabbed my pizza, looked at me, and nodded... am I supposed to know who you are and what you're trying to do? TRY SPEAKING. The entire time, he just looked at me, after everything I said and everything I requested. The guy who started my order was great. Eating here with my 7 and 8 year old daughter. They are enjoying the pizza almost as much as the milkshakes. 8 year old said it would be 5 stars if the pizza wasn't so greasy. We ordered two mini pizzas one just sauce and cheese the other the same with pepperoni. Both were pretty greasy. I used several napkins to soak up all the grease. Service was friendly and would deserve 5 stars. Food was prepared quickly but the greasy pizza lowered the score. I would probably give 3 stars. Pizza to me is average. I used to go to Pieology to create your own pizza, but I find this place much better! Reasonable and comparable price to Pielogy. Ingredients are fresh to choose from for your toppings. Any pizza toppings for the same price which is a very good deal. They even have pizza salad you can create. Friendly staff, but the service is a bit slow. The store needs to find a way to speed up the pizza ordering because it takes awhile longer before you can order and create the pizza you want. Let me start by saying that I frequent this establishment very often. I have tried many combinations of pizzas from the Maddy all the way to the build your own. Now I am writing this review based on my most recent experience. First, I get salads at least 3 times a week because of the convenience of taking it to work plus they allow me to get any toppings on both pizzas and salads but today I left the line feeling pretty disappointed. Second, the advertising clearly shows "any toppings you want, same price." And I always just order a mini because It usually fills me up. So today, I did my usual order of a mini salad but as I moved through the line I felt an increasing amount of anxiety and judgement through one particular lady. The other workers were all kind except for this one. She might have been the manager because she was aggressively demanding the rest of the workers to do this and do that. The moral seemed very low as she stepped on the line and further more when she angrily micro managed. Anyways, as I was being "helped" by my assumed manager, I went on asking for toppings "any way I wanted" and felt demoralized as I kept adding. Now I understand that obviously they don't want to waste inventory but I don't understand how I can have a dip in customer service and effort. The manager seemed annoyed as I added toppings and rudely told me that she can only put whatever fits into the bowl (more on "putting what fits in the bowl" later). Again, I totally understand that you don't want to waste inventory but why not just give less amount of lettuce to start off with if I order a mini. Or better yet why not just use a different size bowl all together. OR just practice the obvious training that the other employees recieved in customer service(remember, I go here often and have been treated amazingly) and just be nice. I just can't imagine that being led by someone who brings a culture of meanness can be good for production and moral. I lead a team of 150 leaders and employees so I understand trying to get the most production out of my subordinates. Being snippy and mean lowers moral and productivity. Overall I plan to come back and get the food but I will try my best not to offend the lady because it is my job to make her day the most smooth and efficient as possible. P.s. here is my " putting what fits into the bowl" salad. (Remember I get this salad often and it is completely packed and noticeably heavy) notice the empty space at the top. Which I always do. Might as well since it's the same price for 3 toppings as it is for 10. For drinks I usually will get the fountain drinks. I get their lemonade which is regular or this berry one which is also good. They also have sweet tea. Regular and pear which is interesting. I usually make an arnold palmer and mix and match the flavors. My favorite is the regular lemonade with the pear tea. Price is comparable to Pieology but it's so much closer to the Richmond area so It's a very good place to come. A fine addition to all the new businesses popping up on Pinole Valley Rd. read more

If you want any extra toppings to the pre-determined pizzas you can add them at no extra cost. They also have pizza salads (pretty much like salad on top of flatbread), and salads. Lastly, don't forget to look at the sauce choices for post-pizza cooking! I love the balsamic fig (goes well with the white sauced pizzas!) The service is great - they're very attentive and patient.
