I loved their pizza! The dough was amazing. A bit greasy but what pizza isn't. The service was good, they were patient with a first timer like me. Love that they were open late, so people could get some comfort food =) Try it for sure. I think it is on the level of &pizza. They have recipes that you could choose from or you could create your own. To make things easier I just went with their recipe but added a couple more things that I wanted. MOD pizza is great! I've been to the Reston location a few times and it will usually be very packed at lunchtime on weekdays. The idea behind MOD is make your own personal brick oven sized pizza for a reasonable price. The brilliance of MOD is how many options you can choose from, I personally get all the meats, make sure to get the Mama's lil peppers! Takes about 10-15 mins in the brick over and you got yourself a custom supreme thin crust/crunchy pizza. I feel like you need to understand what you are getting at MOD's to appreciate it. Negative reviews seem to reflect a misunderstanding of the concept. MOD pizza is like what made chipotle so great, good fresh ingredients, simple, quick and fully customizable... if you are expecting gourmet pizza than this is not for you! read more

**This review is based on my customer service experience, and not the pizza itself** My boyfriend and I stopped by Mod Pizza right after we got off of work at 8, knowing we would be pushing it since they closed at 9. We got there at 8:50, saw other people sitting down eating inside and figured we would just grab ours to go as not to hold up the employees. (We have both worked in the restaurant industry and know there is nothing worse than someone dining in right before closing) There were 4 employees in the prep area. One of the guys fixing our pizzas proceeded to talk about meth right in front of us, and made loud comments to his colleagues such as "I would never come into a restaurant 10 minutes before they close, not even an hour before." This was extremely unprofessional and made us both very uncomfortable especially since we knew very well we would be out the door by 9. (Our pizzas did finish by 8:55, but they forgot our garlic bread so that held us up another 5 minutes.) As we were waiting for our food, the same employee who berated us then continues to stand in the center of the prep area eating starbursts out of a bag and playing on his phone. We loved that we could order however many topics we wanted, but we just did mozzarella, ricotta, and pepperoni (on half). I got the house red wine and my boyfriend got an IPA. Not bad! Nice location and the restaurant was clean. I showed up just before noon and there was no line. The food was great, as always, and the staff was very nice. A solid 4! Our go to place when we want great pizza fast. FOOD: Pizzas come in 3 sizes. You can get as many toppings as you want for the same price. The toppings are plentiful. The boys love the thin crust with the nice bubbles that only a brick oven can create. Finished in less than 10 minutes. They call your name when ready. You can also make your own salad. The proteins for the salads are cold so the ones I created have not been. SERVICE: I've had no issues with service here. They have all been cordial and efficient. Good! Very good, in fact. MOD, a fast growing chain, is the fast casual answer to Papa John's, Pizza Hut and Domino's. They produce made to order pizzas from a broad selection of toppings including some interesting ones such as greek olives. Each pizza is made to order. I'd suspect the dough is prepared in a central commissary rather than made on site (probably a way that they achieve their price points) but, honestly, I can't tell the difference. Yes, it's a chain but the product, all-in-all is comparable to pricier, more hipster places found in city centers. At a less-than-$10 per person, it's a good deal too. Check it out. read more

Mod Pizza has a very cute environment. They are setup like other make your own pizza places in the area. I think the menu is a bit confusing so I suggest looking ahead of time if you are new, especially if you are there during the lunch rush. I love the way they cook their pizzas here in a fire oven! The option to put whatever toppings on your pizza for a flat price is always a plus too. Yummy fresh pizza that is made before your eyes and salads that are fresh and tasty as well. I fell in love with their honey lime dressing and keep coming back for it. The pizza crust reminded me a lot about pizza I would buy back in Europe. It tasted like it came from an Italian Place so I was pleasantly surprised. It is also pretty cheap, you order by size and can put as many toppings on as you want. So you can get a good meal under 10 bucks. I got the red sauce and asked the employee if if was spicy. He said no but when I ate my pizza it was spicy. I basically walked out their hungry because I coudn't finish eating it. I have a chronic skin condition where flare ups can be caused by spicy/strongly spiced food and the next day I was doing not so well. Of course I can't be 100% sure if it was caused by this or something else but when I looked up the ingredients online I saw that the red sauce included crushed red pepper. I have been to a few build your own pizza place while a very cool idea it's hard to execute good custom pizza but this place DELIVERS GOOD FOOD! Operation is Great! - they have the assembly line part down. What I love most is how all the employees are customer focused. Everyone pays attention to the customers. The chef in the redskins gear was helping out the cashier saying "customer at register". The cashier was busy stocking supplies but after the chef said it again the cashier quickly attended the customer. Bottom line everyone here was smiling, quick to help and knew what they were suppose to be doing. We will be back, with food and a customer focused operation like this... just awesome! read more

Too bad I can't give zero stars. I ordered a large seasonal salad with Brussels sprouts, greens, roasted garlic etc. The salad itself was over $14. I don't mind paying that for a salad that's worth it, but this was horrendous. For starters, they completely forgot the Brussels sprouts. The roasted garlic was entire cloves of garlic, making them inedible. The salad container was small, and it was 3/4 full. Basically, I got some greens, huge inedible clumps of garlic, parmesan cheese, croutons and lemon vinaigrette. For $14. This is the second time I've ordered carryout with these clowns. It's like they don't care and have zero quality control. I won't be ordering with them again, ever. read more

The departure of Uncle Maddios in Dulles and Pizzanese in Herndon brought me here. I like that I get to pick as many toppings as I want. Though the crust isn't my favorite and the toppings weighed down the crust when eating (3 toppings) Line was not long (short) and pizza was ready quickly (not slow). However I think they sacrifice quality for how quickly they make the pizza. Staff treats you well and uses your name when asking you for your order. The drink selection is good with lemonade type flavors and fountain drinks. read more

I visited mod pizza tonight with my toddler, and was extremely upset with the quality. Though the ingredients were wonderful, my pizza came out burnt. When I asked the employee if it should be that dark, he said that was something that could happen sometimes. Unfortunately, because the crust was so dark anytime I would try to cut the pizza for my daughter it would leave a charred taste on every bite since the burnt pieces basically spread throughout the crust. If I report this to the health dept, they'd close them down. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Management needs to get on this quick. I've been to a few of the MODs in the area and this one is by far the worst. My crust is always terribly burnt and tonight the service was just horrible on top of the bad food. Tonight I watched as burnt pizza after burnt pizza came out of the oven - so bad that they were having to cut off almost all of the crusts because they were so badly burnt - yet no one rectified the situation. One of the mini pizzas was so burnt it might as well have been a cracker! They offered to remake mine, but were rude about it. I won't be returning. read more
