The delivery was to an L3 Technologies building with a security entrance at the front. Deliverers are well aware that the security will contact the person who placed the order and have them meet the delivery person in the lobby or outside. There was No Update. No Contact. No text per delivery instructions. I tried contacting the deli via their contact information. The automated answering service prompts "1" for receiving text updates. No text. No link in the text. No update. It didn't work at all after 3 separate tries. The order was left OUTSIDE/ outdoors at the front corner of the entrance, out of view. The delivery was already Cold and Crawling With Ants! This is what is referred to as a Three Point Failure otherwise known as a FUBAR. There is no communication between the establishment and your customer. Your app provides no updates on status of an order nor a way to request a status update on an order. If a change needs to be made, there is no way to reach the establishment directly as the listed phone number directs customers to an unreliable answering service which is Crucial Safety Feature if there is an error with the order; for instance an ingredient that the customer or their family members maybe allergic to that was added in error. The HungerRush LLC app merely acts as a non responsive middle wall between the Deli and its customers. The only thing the Deli Italiano app does effectively is accept payment, something a human cashier can do better because at the very least a human cashier can call management for assistance with resolving a customer's issue or answer any concerns a customer may have. The app does Neither. It's 2026. 90s website ordering wasn't this obstructive. I will be stopping by the deli location in Herndon next day before 5:30 PM to have this addressed Directly. TLDR: Really a 3.5 for me with pizza that reminds me of a Costco slice, solid buffalo wings, and average garlic knots. It was very cheese forward and didn't have any sauce taste. Not that that's bad, but it's not enough to make me come back consistently. Ordered pickup from this place on a Friday afternoon. It was very quiet and there was plenty of seating. The food was great. The bread on the turkey provolone sub was soft, the turkey was slightly smoky and tasted very good, honestly every single ingredient felt very fresh and perfectly proportioned - just the right amount of mayo, lettuce, etc. The fries were very crispy as well. As someone who grew up on New Haven (CT) pizza I feel like I'm a bit of a pizza snob and Deli Italiano hits the spot for me. I am not a Sicilian style pizza gal at all, but we tried it just to try it and it was good - however, we prefer their NY Style pizza! The Sicilian is yum, but just too much bread for us - if you like Sicilian you'll really enjoy it. The food that comes out of Deli Italiano is consistently good. Came here with the kids and and my picky daughter scarfed down the pizza. I had baked ziti and it was a good size and tasty. Recently i ordered and received a pasta salad with no pasta included. The menu specified penne pasta. It was wrong to have this on the menu and then not provided it. This is called false advertising. The manager provided me with the owners contact information but i have yet to hear back from them regarding this situation. I can't speak to the ambience or restaurant service because I ordered takeout, but I can speak to the pizza and the Greek salad. Starting with the Greek salad - it was EXCELLENT. Literally my ideal/perfect Greek salad. It had tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta (the four essential Greek salad ingredients), but I loved the addition of the lettuce and banana peppers for a little more texture and flavor. I would go there for the salad again lol. I raved about it A LOT. The dressing was nice as well. Now, as for the pizza... I got the hand tossed supreme Italiano, which was OK. The crust wasn't flavorful (needs more salt at least) and the texture wasn't right. There was too much cheese and toppings, so the pizza didn't crisp up in the middle. If you're doing a thicker hand-tossed crust, you should really cook down the toppings to reduce the moisture levels. The cheese wasn't good either. The mozzarella tasted like a cheese stick (and frankly had a similar chewy texture). I see a lot of good reviews for the pizza here, so I'm willing to try again. I will probably go for the thin crust next time though. I hate to be so critical of the pizza, but that is the point of a review, and I think my reasons are valid lol read more

We did need to add some extra seasoning as it didn't have any Italian seasoning on it but otherwise the toppings were good and the crust was very flavorful. The service was excellent and extremely helpful as we had not been here before and had a lot of questions. The place is clean and it has an outdoor patio if the weather is good. Very tiny placeand worse there was a rude couple with two adults and one small child sitting at a table for 7 that was two separate 2-top tables plus a bench seat. We were a party of four older adults. This is not the fault of the restaurant, however, their party did not show up until we were leaving. They could've easily given us that small 2-top. So our party of two elderly couples who hadn't seen each other in a while, had to sit separately because of rude ass people poor table planning by the owners of this establishment. Then came the disaster of the food. The pizzas didn't taste bad, but they were just on a metal tray with no plates and plastic silverware, so trying to share pizza amongst numerous people was . One person in our party ordered chicken Parmesan and it was one very small piece of chicken with tons of tomato sauce and pasta. And it was obviously made a day or two earlier and reheated in a little metallic disposable container. It was dry and awful. When the man went to the counter to complain, they didn't even offer a free dessert, a free soda, etc....they just said "thanks for letting us know." They also did not disagree that it wasn't made days earlier and reheated. Please do not order the mozzarella sticks. They are way too large and the cheese doesn't melt all the way through. The Turkey Aioli Melt is probably one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had but it was the aioli that made it great. The ciabatta was actually pretty good size and I was full the rest of the day. I told the gal I didn't want any tomatoes and she said it doesn't come with any. I get home and the first half of the sandwich is straight tomatoes. I had to pick them up which is fine but the aioli sauce was wasted. My only downside is the onion ring side was $3.99 and came with 4 rings. I was disappointed with that portion but I guess the portion size went to the sandwich. I'm curious to know what a regular onion ring order would be. There were so few bits of mushrooms & basil we could count them & assess a value to each bit - 25c / bitty mushroom slice (one slice per pizza slice), 30c each leaf (less than 1 per pizza slice). The mozzarella sticks were from frozen - yuk. 2nd order- $30 - large w/Alfredo sauce, normal mozz, bacon, spinach - $30. Were charged $4 for the cheese, couldn't taste the Alfredo (no chg this time), even skimpier number of bitter spinach leaves. 3rd order - $23 a taste-off with Domino's $19 - large w/Alfredo sauce, normal mozz, bacon. $23 Deli Italiano (16"); $19 Domino's (14" hand-tossed). Getting Domino's Brooklyn style crust would have been a closer match to DI's crust. The smoky taste combination of Deli Italiano's alfredo sauce, cheese & bacon is delicious & better than Domino's. But you'd have to triple+ the DI add-ons at $3 each to match those on a Domino's pizza. read more
