By now most people are familiar with the fast-fired pizza concept of restaurants like MOD..."Subway" style ordering process means you walk along the ingredients/ordering counter while the MOD crew adds your sauce and toppings of choice. When done, you pay for your order and wait for it to be baked in their 700° pizza oven. It's usually pretty quick compared to conventional pie shops which, in addition to building exactly the pizza you want, you can get it into your "piehole" faster ;-) There are two sizes to choose from and all the toppings you care to add are included in the price by size. The first thing I noticed was the uncooked dough/crust looked different when it was put on the pan for toppings assembly. After baking/tasting, it even tasted different. An employee confirmed that the dough they use has indeed changed...better/fresher was the reason provided. Perhaps fresher...but I prefer the way it was before this change. Both texture and flavor was superior in my opinion (for what it's worth). Overall, staff was friendly and courteous and the restaurant was clean. I still like MOD...but they MODified my overall opinion down a star with that change in the dough. D'oh! read more

I came in here last week with a friend shortly before the Springfield Christmas parade. Having never tried it, I had no real idea of what to expect. If you're in that same boat, think Subway for pizza. Food was decent. Definitely not the best thing I've ever eaten, but not the worst either. I do like the make your own concept. I liked the thin crust and crispy factor. Making my own was kind of fun. I put chicken, bacon, and mushrooms on it. Staff was kind, helpful, and friendly. No complaints there. Restaurant was clean and spacious. Again, no complaints. Would I return? I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if I'm in the area already, absolutely. It was a good simple lunch that was filling, not super expensive, and good. read more

The food gets a 2, but the staff bumps it up. In terms of fast casual dining, the MOD Pizza chain is pretty average. You get custom pizza cooked in a pizza oven for a moderate price. The ingredients do not appear to be the freshest. The crust is nice and thin, so you get that good crunch, but it doesn't taste like much. They are a bit skimpy on the toppings, including the cheese. I will say skip the ranch here - it's oddly sweet. The location is convenient, right on Olympic. Parking is not a problem as you have the whole bigger parking lot of the shopping center. This particular location is much nicer and cleaner than other locations around here. The two guys working were polite and had good teamwork happening. read more

First time MOD Eater here. LOVE the cauliflower crust, the basil sauce with the red sauce and absolutely love the Subway style pizza making. Mine was big enough for a two days worth of meals. You get to pick all of what you want and if you want a little bit more of that something special, no problem, just ask. The service at this particular sight can be a hit and Miss but that can be true anywhere so unless it becomes a constant negative, I'll keep coming here. Up to them. read more

This place was immaculate. Only 2 staff and 2 other guests on the patio. Music was lively and not too loud. Staff were cleaning, stocking and doing other duties the whole time we were there. No one was "leanin" or on a phone. The black lady had the best GENUINE smile. She was really kind and was generous with the toppings. The guy was super professional. He was compassionate to an older customer that came in and some additional questions and needs. Some chicky blew in the door, used their bathroom and breezed out. He was unphased. She did no harm, so he was chill. Food: the pizza building station was completely full of very fresh looking produce, meats and cheeses. The crust is literally cracker thin and crisp (but they do have a thicker one if you prefer). The pizza was cooked perfectly without being burnt. Crushed ice and fresh lemonade rounded out the meal. Desert was their ode to a Ding Dong But...Ding Dong never was so rich! Soft dark chocolate cake and REAL chocolate shell. We'll be back! read more

I really want to like this place, but this particular location is trash compared to the others. I give zero stars for the staff due to feeling like I'm rushed on my toppings everytime ive come here. Why are the employees in a rush? One time, they just assumed the sauce my lady wanted and immediately started putting it on the pizza. (She wanted Alfredo, they went right away with regular pizza sauce) and gave her an attitude when she said she wanted Alfredo. Instead of tossing old, pressed dough, they save it for the next customer. Not me, i noticed the employee tried to start my pizza with dough that was sitting out; it looked crusty. I said something, and he got me a fresh dough. In the end, our pizzas had raw dough in the middle. We tried again. 3rd time we get there an hour and half b4 close. The employees are doing closing procedures, flipping out the containers the toppings are in. There was very few things to choose from. We asked where the other topping options were at, and the employee said rudely "this is what we got for right now" We get our pizzas, the other employee didnt close my box, it wasnt shut. We get home with our pizzas, and low and behold. Raw dough again. We put them in our oven at home to finish them up to eat. I'll make the drive across town for the other locations. Instead expect challenges to your requests rather than "happy to help," and "that's the way I was trained and I've worked for MOD for two years," sneering responses. I've been going to MOD from the first restaurant opening in Portland many years ago. This is not the same. The pizza was not lovingly made. read more

The food isn't bad but the customer service is absolute trash. I came in at 10:30pm (they close at 11) and no one greeted us. Just two employees cleaning gave us death stares and seemed very unenthused that we were there. I tried asking about the new cina slice and the guy just mumbled something very soft that I couldn't even hear. He obviously did not want to make one. Then when my pizza was about to go in the oven I said "wait, can I get some garlic on it." The woman about to put the pizza in the oven gave me another death stare, but they did accommodate the garlic. The gentleman asked if the order was for there or to go and I said for there. I didn't realize that my friend wanted to take it to go and so I told the lady that put the pizza in the oven that I told him I wanted it for there but we decided we wanted to take it to go and then the snottiest voice possible, she said "yeah we close soon." (Still 27 minutes til close) I said, "well I could smash that pizza in 5 minutes," she just frowned her eyebrows and rolled her eyes. She went over to the oven and I thought she was about to pull out my pizza so I was watching her and then she just turned over at me and did the eyebrow frown again because I was watching her (apparently the pizza wasn't done and she doesn't like being watched in an OPEN kitchen.) Then when she got my pizza ready, I asked for a couple sides of ranch. I wasn't thinking, and I put my drink on the glass counter and so when she leaned down to grab the ranch, she said, "JESUS." I assumed it was because I put my drink on her counter and she was going to have to wipe it down again after the closed...SORRY FOR COMING IN 30 MINUTES SO CLOSE TO BEFORE YOU WERE CLOSING, but that doesn't really give you a reason to be so disrespectful.
