The matcha with vanilla cold foam was great -- smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. The vanilla cold foam added just the right creamy finish without overpowering the matcha. I also tried the Mint Chiller, and it was excellent -- super refreshing with a clean mint flavor that wasn't too sugary. The ambiance looks inviting and relaxing, making it a comfortable place to hang out or catch up with someone. Since it was our first time there, the employees were especially helpful in explaining the menu and offering suggestions, which we really appreciated. Oh my goodness, what a fabulous coffee shop! I walked in. It was clean. The staff was phenomenal. There was plenty of seating. It was quiet. I honestly mentioned to my friend who met me there that this place would be perfect for studying after school, to meet with groups, and there was no hustle and bustle. It was just relaxed. I got or black rock atleast 4 days a week. I avoid this location at all costs. Staff ignored the huge line inside the store , the drive thru wasn't moving . They apparently ran out of large cups so you can pay for a large but you're getting a medium. Just over all , a great reminder why i go out of my way to the northern location. read more

This has happened several time at this point. The coffee has not been filled to the top. You can see that I am getting 1/2 or 2/3 of the beverage I have paid for. They are often out of pastries in the morning. I typically go before the morning rush. read more

I'm not sure if they've gone under new management but this location is a mess. I use to come here all the time when my daughter was at dance and now I don't think I'll return. The staff is very slow and too busy to even realize you've been standing around for 5-10 mins to get your order in. The coffee shop looks like it needs a deep clean. I don't usually come to black rock but when I come to this location it's always something, it's either staff being rude in a way when you try to order they're always rushing you, like I understand you have a job to do but let's not be a bitch about it. Do not come here if you would like professionalism and speedy service this morning I literally sat in the line no joke for 40 minutes to get my one coffee. When I finally pulled up to place my order it was dead silent for almost 5 minutes. I finally spoke up and said hello. The lady said just a second. Another five minutes goes on. I say hello again she says what can I get for you? I tell her my drink and pull forward. When I finally get to the window, I asked the girl if they're understaffed she said yes there's only two of us. I said I've been waiting in your line for 40 minutes and at first, she ignored me then when I repeated myself. She just replied with "everyone is we're doing the best we can" so I replied with 40 minutes is unacceptable For a coffee drive-through. She charged me for my drink and I drove off. This is the second bad experience I've had in the last couple weeks and will not be returning here. If you value your time and don't wanna be late for something do not get in this line because you will be stuck and they will still charge you even after waiting that long. read more

I'm done with black rock after 3 years or so. The drinks have become so inconsistent, and the broken limb of the stinking tree that scratched my car. The last straw (no pun intended) is when I ordered a large and I saw the person making my drink and poured it into a smaller cup (medium or whatever) then the window person told her I ordered a large, so she then pours into a large cup and just adds ice to make it large in volume, nice very nice, and no I don't need a manager or whatever to make this right, I'm done. read more

I have frequented this black rock in the past, and have never had any issues. Today when it was 127° in Phoenix, I decided to stop in and get a green tea with sugar free peach and sugar-free coconut. I should say that I am highly sensitive to sugar, and it is almost an allergy! I cannot have any actual sugar, or it makes me super sick. Fast forward to when I get my drink, I drink half of it, and I have an explosive (yup that's right, explosive) reaction. I am 100% certain that the syrups used were not sugar free. I went back into the store and spoke to the gentleman that made my drink. He was a super nice young kid, and he swore up and down that he had iced only sugar free. But I can tell you that my body would say differently! I did not get an offer to remake the drink, or a refund be issued, he just was adamant that it was sugar-free. In fact, he watched me throw the other half of my drink in the trash, and wished me a good day. Not sure that I will trust this location again. His drink prep work station was an absolute disaster, everything looked chaotic, spilled over, and quite frankly, just dirty. read more

I couldn't tell you if the drinks are any good because I never did get one. Decided to stop by to do some homework and get a coffee. Waiting in line for about 5 minutes maybe a little longer, no one came up, no said "be right with you", literally nothing.. not even a hi. I just stood there waiting to place my order and watched the girls make coffee and hand them out the drive thru window. One had a head set on while the other glanced over but not long enough to get her attention. Maybe they were short staffed and it was a busy day.. This morning 12/26 drive thru cashier very nice. Ordered 2 large vanilla latte & both had no vanilla plus it tasted as if they put 1% milk or just 2 shots of Espresso. Coffee is good! Service is terrible!!! My order is always wrong and constant clarification of what I order at the window is usually needed. Some employees have the worst attitude and lack customer service. I get rushed to order with "anything else" after every word. Staff needs better training in customer service. read more

I am always looking for a nice coffee shop to do my work. But the funny thing is I don't really like coffee. I will get a frappe but I don't like the taste of coffee so I tend to overload it with other taste. I have tried the Oreo drink multiple times and this time I asked for one shot of coffee and it just was still too strong. I couldn't even finish it. I also got their chocolate muffins which was really delicious. I am going to keep trying hopefully I can find a drink that I will enjoy because this is very community next to my son school and I tend to do a lot of work on my laptop and enjoy going to a nice coffee shop with a coworker to get our work done. I will say the south is amazing they're very nice nobody kicked us out after being there for a few hours. We definitely try to order stuff so we're not just sitting there. If you want to start your day off with a coffee made to perfection, this is the place to go! This is a brand new location, which I appreciate for us who live on the west side of PHX. The customer service is always on point! Today is their grand opening, so it's definitely popping, since they have a deal where any medium size drink is $2. One thing I was salty about was that the car in front of us got got stickers and when we got to the window we were excited to get stickers but we're not offered any, and we're pretty loyal fans so.... So we came back the following day for their BOGO deal, and we ended up getting a Carmel blondie chiller style and and Oreo chiller. Both drinks were absolutely AMAZING! What a great experience at Black Rock today. I've never been to this location. I've never even noticed it before today; so I had to check it out. Parking lot is really great size and well kept. I loved the large wi does letting in the light. I usually do the drive they at the other locations, but decided I'd park and check out the inside. I was greeted right away and ordered my usual iced caramel Blondie. Yummy. The girl working the counter today was so friendly, had such a great smile and we chatted while my coffee was being made. She made sure to add my number to get my points for today's purchase. I appreciate that. There were quite a few people utilizing the tables to get work done on their laptops and a few others enjoying some coffee time. I really liked the layout and comfy couch seating. Their were some coffee mugs, Coffee grounds and such for sale as well. Service was great all around, prices great for a large coffee and I was in and out in no time.
